[Synopsis]

With Jia , you hated it when she schemed against Ruyi and delight in her in putting other people in their place. The actress did a phenomenal job.

A'rou's pride, temper and immaturity were really her dowmfall.
The music and direction of this scene is incredible. So much tension.
Does it mean something when Ruyi drinks Arou's toast with her hand over the cup? Is it a signal of displeasure?
Ladies cover their mouths when they drink. A'rou wasn't raised as a noble woman, so her table manners were those of a commoner's out of habit.

I know this is going to sounds weird, but I love this scene because of the focus on food and the pleasures of taste. You don't often see this in western costume dramas. For some reason, we westerners make an assumption that the food in our people's past was always disgusting or bland compared to today's foods.
Food in Northern Europe back in the days were probably bland as hell compared to the rest of the world. I also notice how everybody here take small bite size pieces instead of shoveling them down their gullets.

Can someone tell me what "flip the tag" means I tried to find out but can not?
It basically means which person serves the king in bed from my understanding. Each concubine has a name tag, and then the king will flip the name tag of the woman he wants to serve in bed with him. Yeah and it’s stuff like this that breeds drama in the harem (though having such a large one in the first place already has its issues)

Also the doctors were mostly or just male in the palace. Other than the emperor and female attendants, no one can touch or see the imperial consorts body
c sections started in like 1900s.. this is set in 1700s
There was but...it is said according to some records, not one single mother survived a c-section in Paris between 1787 and 1876. So...it was better not to risk it at all. The best you can hope for is a big hole for the head.
