The instructions that came with the keyless Entry Remote, which I bought at O'Reilly's versus the audio/demo that UA-cam gave was like night n' day. UA-cam was straight and to the point and I had it programmed to my Chevy Silverado in about 10sec. Where as the written instructions that came with the keyless Entry Remote were ALL WRONG. I would have NEVER gotten it to match my vehicle....I took the ADVICE from the O'REILLY associate who referred me to UA-cam.......Thank You O'REILLY'S, You've got GOOD Employee's who KNOW their jobs when ASSISTING the customer.
Alternatively you can also use the multi function turn signal switch. Instead of the power unlock button. I found this in the manual and it worked better than using the unlock button. substitute the unlock button for the turn signal handle by pulling it towards you. Hold until you cycle the key 2 times.
Yes! This was the answer for me getting the locks to cycle but unfortunately the fob wouldn't pair up. Approx 30 seconds the locks cycle a second time, ( while holding the 2 buttons) release fob and quickly turn the key on/ off and still no function.

This works just fine, if it doesn’t for others then you guys may have a faulty set or should contact the seller. One thing to keep in mind when doing this that isn’t stated on the video, you will need to keep your original programmed key fob away while doing this as this process will unprogram any other fobs that are present during the process.
It will erase all previous remotes that have been programmed to the vehicle regardless of how far away from the vehicle they are. You actually want to have all the remotes for the vehicle with you during the procedure so they can be re-programmed. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat step 10 for each remote after the first remote is programmed. That includes any remotes that already previously worked for the vehicle.
All fobs and keys need to be done at same time otherwise the ones NOT programmed will have the older coding and be rendered un-usable. I have a 1999 chevy silverado and dad has his 2006 suburban z71, both vehicles program keys how this video states and all keys/key fobs need to be programmed at the same time. Pre-1999, post 2006 Chevy fullsize model year vehicles? Not sure, but I know it's fairly common to require all keys and fobs be programmed in unison for most car manufacturers. Other than that...... This programming procedure would not disarm the auto theft. An aftermarket alarm system can effect the factory remote systems depending on how they were installed.
An aftermarket stereo should not have any effect on the procedure, you just need to have the factory remote option installed. If your 1999 Silverado has the "classic" body style ( square body ) you need to use the instructions for a 1998

Were the fobs OEM or aftermarket? Did you get them all from the same seller? It's definitely possible that the receiver in your truck is bad but the remotes themselves are usually the issue.

If you are getting the vehicle into programming mode but the fobs are not responding - The fobs could very well be the issue. It's possible the check engine lights could be involved but since the vehicle is going into programming mode I would definitely start with the fobs themselves.

MachiningCoolStuff!!!!! mine is a gas LS model and it’s not HD. I went on a deep dive on this forum and found one person say specifically that if your doors don’t cycle you have a bad BCM or a BCM that doesn’t have keyless entry

If your vehicle is going into programming mode ( door locks cycling ) but the key fob is not responding - then there may be an issue with key fob you are using.

To see if your truck has the factory remote option you can check the parts identification sticker in the glovebox for the code AUO. You can also call a GM dealership's parts department with your VIN number and they can look up the original build sheet for the vehicle.

If you have never had a remote for the truck, as your sure it has the factory remote option? If it does have the factory remote option then you should be able to program the remote suing the procedure shown in the video.
No - but alternatively you can use the blinker instead of the unlock button. So you will do the same thing shown in the video expect you will pull the blinker arm towards you and hold it there until its time to release it after turning the ignition.
Are you sure your truck has the factory remote option? You can verify that by calling a GM dealership's parts department with your VIN number. They can look up the original build sheet for the vehicle to see what options it has

You need to program a new remote to which ever truck you want the fob erased from. This procedure erases all previous remotes once a new remote is successfully programmed.
@@PYR-Auto yeah I did that and it unpair from the 2500 but it still only lock my truck an not unlock . I ended up removing the inside of the new key fob an install it in the one that didn’t work.

Finally worked on 20th try. This may have had something to do with a weak truck battery that I just recharged. It had been dead for over a week and I still may need to replace it. The remote stopped working after I recharged the truck battery.
Are you sure your truck has the factory remote option? If you're not sure - call a GM dealership with your VIN number and speak with their parts department. They can look up the original build sheet for your vehicle to see what options it has.

If you are sure you have a FACTORY remote system then this procedure should work. Try increasing the speed that you are doing all the steps, most people tend to go too slow. Also make sure to take the key out of the ignition and open and close the drivers door a couple of times to "reset" before trying again if you are unsuccessful.
It's the vehicle that "remembers" the remote. In order to erase a remote from a vehicle - this procedure needs to be done to the vehicle with a different remote.
@@karenwillard1878 Some vehicles are more sensitive than other when it comes to the speed in which you do the steps. Try it faster than you have been doing it, if that doesn't work try slower. In between attempts make sure to take the key out of the ignition and open and close the drivers door a couple times to "reset" before trying again.

a 2013 Avalanche is not manually programmable - you will need an automotive locksmith or dealership

I know the alarm can be disarmed with the key but honestly I'm not sure if it can be armed with just the key and no remote.

To see if your truck has the factory remote option you can check the parts identification sticker in the glovebox for the code AUO. You can also call a GM dealership's parts department with your VIN number and they can look up the original build sheet for the vehicle.
@@PYR-Auto Thanks. So i called my local Chevy Dealer providing them my VIN and they said im able to buy a replacement key fob from them and will need to program it with a professional. Now my car wont go into programming mode so wont know how to go from here

If you have never had a remote for the truck, as your sure it has the factory remote option? If it does have the factory remote option then you should be able to program the remote suing the procedure shown in the video.

No - but alternatively you can use the blinker instead of the unlock button. So you will do the same thing shown in the video expect you will pull the blinker arm towards you and hold it there until its time to release it after turning the ignition.

How can I unpair a key fob that paired with to trucks but only the lock button works and not the unlock? I followed this video but by the end of programming it still lock both trucks🙁. I drive a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 and the other truck is a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD
You need to program a new remote to which ever truck you want the fob erased from. This procedure erases all previous remotes once a new remote is successfully programmed.
@@PYR-Auto yeah I did that and it unpair from the 2500 but it still only lock my truck an not unlock . I ended up removing the inside of the new key fob an install it in the one that didn’t work.

My 2002 Chevy Silverado didn’t work when I hold the unlock button and turn key on and off 2 time the locks didn’t unlock and lock meaning it allow me to program my new key fog I don’t know what to do did anyone had this problem

Finally worked on 20th try. This may have had something to do with a weak truck battery that I just recharged. It had been dead for over a week and I still may need to replace it. The remote stopped working after I recharged the truck battery.
I can’t turn my key a second time unless I take out my key, it’ll get stuck. If I try to, my passenger door locks just go bazzerk 😂
What if you tried this method and it still won't go into "pairing mode" aka the door locks don't cycle? (2000 Chevy Silverado 1500)

@@PYR-Auto yeah I already have a current remote that works perfect I just wanted to upgrade to the boost Auto parts one and it won't go into pairing so to speak with the lock cycling. Have you ever seen something like this?
If you are sure you have a FACTORY remote system then this procedure should work. Try increasing the speed that you are doing all the steps, most people tend to go too slow. Also make sure to take the key out of the ignition and open and close the drivers door a couple of times to "reset" before trying again if you are unsuccessful.

Yeah - those are just replacement cases. Some auto parts stores do sell the whole remotes as well though

It's the vehicle that "remembers" the remote. In order to erase a remote from a vehicle - this procedure needs to be done to the vehicle with a different remote.

have you ever had a working remote? Its possible your vehicle is not set up for factory remotes

@@karenwillard1878 Some vehicles are more sensitive than other when it comes to the speed in which you do the steps. Try it faster than you have been doing it, if that doesn't work try slower. In between attempts make sure to take the key out of the ignition and open and close the drivers door a couple times to "reset" before trying again.

If the vehicle is going into programming mode but not responding to the remotes - there may be an issue with the remotes you are using.

I would recommend getting a OEM remote (Made by GM) vs. an aftermarket brand.
