Tonex one on a pedal board is awesome. I wouldn't use as an all in one but just treat it like an amp with channel 1 and 2. Drives before and wet effects after. The effects are good to use in the vst.
Completely agree! You asked, “am I missing something?”, No you’re not. I see the value in the captured tones for the ToneX One. It’s a great “add in” pedal. Both have pro’s and con’s. However, having owned both, IMO, you are spot on for all the reasons you mentioned. The L6 POD Express Guitar, Bass and Black, are much easier to access and adjust all effects quickly on the fly, with or without the mobile app (although the mobile app is killer!). While gigging during a song, turning on or off individual effects, with or without a dual foot switch, is so quick and easy, it provides easier access to any of the 21 presets quickly (especially with a dual foot switch), it's easy to see what preset you’re on with a clear color wheel visual, the tuner is easier to see standing up (very bright color wheel). I also use the PE as a Stand Alone mini board unit when I gig my acoustic, also when I gig my acoustic and electric (I don’t have to worry about a medium to large pedal board luggage) very convenient! Battery option is a nice to have. Now with the game changing Pod Edit software directly editing the pedal preset, it makes all the difference and is much easier to use than the IK Multimedia software by far (so awkward) no direct access to the pedal etc. BTW, your PE tones are outstanding Mr Dee!! Play well! 😁🎸
nice opinion Bro. i like tonex one because it feel Amplike. Pod xpress have great fx and ready to use in live situation. if you just need Ampsim, i'm choose tonex one. but i dont have both device. just my opinion.
I agree thats why i have the bigger tonex. Its a neat little device that i think its best use is really the pedals. Its cool it can do all those things but the tweaking is just bad. Its totally worth it to me to throw in the extra 150 for the big one. The sound quality of the captures are just way way better. I could never get a sound i liked out of line 6 modelers.
To me, what I'd like on Pod Express is to make the left button a switch between two amps and then have the extra buttons for effects and boost for lead. The Tonex One to me is great for if you only need two sounds. Set up a cleaner sound and a dirtier sound and done. It's like anything else, you have to just learn how the editing on the fly works with the knobs.
The lack of adjustable parameters def sounds like a big setback in some contexts but I actually need a good sounding amp in a box with a small footprint to use with my own board for an upcoming gig, pick me please! 😊😊
Both of them are great and super portable - I like using both of them. Probably the favourite amps on the ToneX combined with the FX from the POD - works great
@@MrDees_music I don't make it, just half a cup of coffee (As tall as my spoon). it will save you about 25% of the amount of coffee you drink. When you add that up over a year, that's a lot of cups of coffee.

Good video dude! I'm on the fence right now, I've owned the HX Stomp for 3 years and lately have been kind of uninspired by the tones. The Tone X looks to be a good choice. What do you think sounds better?
@@guitarwalljams thanks Dude, Take it from a guy that owns all of them they all sound good !! Functionality might just be what separates them. Adding the TONEX one to your hx stomp might just add a spark especially with those amp/pedal captures
Interesting video. I dunno I think in this sort of price range, if you’re looking for an all in one solution that can actually be edited on mobile and record etc, the BOSS Katana Go would actually smoke both these things. Purely for the vast selection of effects and parameters that can quickly be dialed in. Your user interface for sure I’d give it to the pod express, use of rechargeable batteries as well is a huge benefit. It’ll be interesting to see a comparison in the next range up. The main tonex pedal offers a much more refined level of control over the existing effects though I think this is still perhaps rather limited and purely utilitarian. See what you think, for me the practice period should be really about refining the actual effects used and getting locked into the performance so it develops muscle memory, mild changes to the actual drive tones I think you can adjust to a lot faster in the moment than playing to delays and other time based effects.
I’m always looking forward for you contributions , I don’t think Boss is getting there fair share of recognition in this market (they can do better with publicity) I like what each of these do and I totally agree with less tweaking during practice, I wanted to see if the fix addition on the tonex will make a huge difference for me but it didn’t.. I’ll still be using it without the fx 😂
Hello. I still use my original POD bean. I think the the express is better option for all in one. Why doesn’t Line6 come out with a Legacy unit? Make an original shaped pod with the new amps and effects inside. It’s a great unit and easy to use. I think if they did this, they would fly off the shelves. I’m not sold on the Tonex.
Edit. I just picked up a Boss GT-1 with xtra 2 button switch. It’s amazing what this little guy can do, and I shave to connect to a computer if I don’t want to. 😂
Good point! But in their defense The techs are way different and parts that made up the older unit are mostly outdated and probably out of reach This newer models are derived from the helix family and they are very impressive But I get your point
there is no such thing as too much coffee silly! and by the way I bought both I found tonex to be a pain in the ass, the software sucks and you have to keep on buying stuff. The pod express gets you going in no time and playing instead of dicking around
Haha to me it's the other way around ... i prefer the tonex one with it's limitation regarding changes on the fly cause it makes me actually playing my guitar instead of tweaking presets. Besides that the tonex offers nearly endless amp models so i can cover all my needs ... the pod express makes me to choose between the original red and the new black version

If its only your amp, what would be the reason for switching amps? How do you think about that?
