"electric piece"= armature. Good stuff Speedy! I'm a "take everything apart" guy myself.

Alright my man.. love your channel and all your content and here’s where i get to return the my knowledge back to you.. first i work for a diesel shop. We work on big diesel but not a dealership so “making it work” is our specialty.. so the two screws you want to put O-rings on them and that’ll seal them also for added protection some grease ontop. The electrical connection if you can get to it on the inside seal it with marine sealer. The outside you can do it to just look cheesy and i know your OCD will kick in.. mounting it inversely to how you have it will help as well.. also grease on everything will help with water not getting in there as far as rain.. if it’s condensation though i don’t have a good answer for that one yet. Now as far as running water meth in the hellcat i cannot see any downside to it mainly because the monitoring system Snow has combined with the flex fuel tune. And the engine will run a lot cooler for use Deep South states like Ga, Texas and such

Hey Speedy...for motors can't go wrong w/ stator and rotor...good call on the commutator and brushes are spring loaded. My mercedes had a similar issue with the electric aux water pump located under the windshield washer fluid tank and spilling the fluid while filling the tank.

Any idea where to get Brushes and associated parts for these pumps?

I have similar system on my h1 hummer. It used to work great but now when I turn on the system, it engages at full blast. Idle, Highway speeds, in Aux mode - it’s it’s on, it is at full blast. Any idea what would cause this?

That contactor part. Did you ever find out the name of it? Trying to see how a good one looks like

So is there a way to mount the pump differently or shield it from the elements?

  • @justinhall5375

That is a shielded bearing and should not be exposed to any moisture at all, even intermittent! That is a HUGE design flaw!
Installing another shielded bearing will put you in the exact same position, combine that with it being a bottom barrel Amazon from China you wont get any longer service life without other changes.
Might I suggest a quality sealed bearing from McMaster? 6153K77 for a premium sealed stainless bearing, or 2349K422 for an affordable sealed steel bearing. Both of these are sealed like all the other bearings on that unit.

Good info and thanks for sharing. I sealed up the pump with RTV and got a boot for it and so far so good. I agree those bearings were not up to the task as assembled.

Yo dude, put a light on your camera 📷 so we can see inside the parts.

I'll bet it's not water or the elements that's ruining these pumps. It's the pump seal failing, most likely due to the Methanol eating it up or just cheap quality shaft seal, or the pump is running dry. When the seal goes out on any pump the fluid leaks into the motor and destroys the bearing. Make sure there is no way the pumo can run dry. ( keep the feed and feed lines below the lowest level of the fluid to prevent pump starving or cavitation). When you replace the shaft seal make sure you buy one that is chemical resistant if possible to rule this out. I am referring to the mechanical seal located between the pumps impeller and housing of the pump that the motor shaft runs through. When this leaks, it runs internally down the motor shaft into the pump and front bearing. Not talking about the housing gasket that seals the pump to the motor via the bolts on the housing. You removed the motor bearing that was seized and then you spun the shaft seal, saying it was okay, which you erroneously called the other bearing. This part is actually the shaft seal that goes bad and actually causes an internal leak into the motor. You need to replace this or it will continue to happen. These leaks allow the fluid you are pumping to seep into the motor. Usually they are to small to see , so you don't notice until it's too late! I have personally repaired thousands of pumps for different industries. Ranging in size from a few gpm to ones that run hundreds of gpm. Pumps designed for moving corrosive fluids being my specialty.
    JMHO. Good luck.

Some pump manufacturers only sell a replacement pump housing assembly sans motor and not individual pump parts. If you can buy a complete assembled pump housing/ impeller assembly and just attach it to your repaired motor, that's what I would do if the seal isn't available separately.

These pumps are supposedly methanol compatible and all the plastic and rubber parts seemed ok but time will tell. I'm not sure how fluid would get from the pump head to the shaft seal? This ones mounted upside down if that matters. Thanks for the info.

The pump is pressurized. That's what forces the Meth through into the bearing. It's exactly what causes the bearing to fail. Shaft seal leaks, and you didn't replace it. I've replaced seals and bearings thousands of times. It's like replacing moldy carpet without fixing the roof leak because you can't find the hole in it. Never ever replace bearings on a pump without replacing the shaft seal. P.s. the bearing you used is super common and can be purchased at most swimming pool Supply stores. Just ask for a 203 bearing if you ever need one.

Great tip on that 203. Shaft seal just as common? Next time (I hope there isn't one) I'll replace that too. Heard from a buddy that has the same system as mine he's 14 years on his pump (wow) so hopefully I just had something weird. Or maybe it doesn't like being upside down. I could flip the pump over but I'll have trouble having the inlet below the res.

Negative not a good fit for a Hellcat. My supercharged 4Runner has meth injection.
