of all the tutorials ive watched...this guy is one of the best instructors ever...he points out the flaws in drills and how different the situation is in real life...drills and real life scenarios are miles apart
Really this information is great and will give an idea to every martial arts practitioner, I like the way our kabayan ( Mr. Isagani ) deliver his idea in teaching. Hope I could visit someday your training ground to learn of your techniques, I have also martial arts back ground but most of it I focus in aikido then supported by other combination. Brother Isagani, could we use the X - block + locking at the wrist just to prevent the attacker to pull back the knife....Proud to be Filipino, mabuhay po. salamat.

This is great, I'm really getting into Kali. I've never focused much on weapons in my training, I've always done mostly unarmed stuff. I'm starting to see many flaws in the way my Kempo school deals with knife attacks the more I watch just on UA-cam. I've always been taught and practiced using the X blocks to defend knife attacks, but we never do any real time knife fighting, just drill the same controlled drills over and over...
I know! To b honest if you want to learn to deal with a knife go with this style, their is nothing wrong with it. To learn to defend a knife you must first know how to use it, alot of arts don't know how to. It's like grapple defense from someone who only does taekwondo. This is no insult to a art concept, just realism..
