  • In 1932, Ole Kirk Kristiansen founded a toy company called The Lego Group and quickly found an enthusiastic young audience the world over. Lego’s success led not only to a number of high-profile licensing deals, theme parks, television shows, and feature films, but video games as well. We’ll be looking at those video games - all of them - and ranking them from worst to best. This is Every Lego Video Game Ranked from Worst to Best.

As a hardcore bionicle fan I always love hearing people who don't know anything about them try to pronounce all the crazy names and rap their brains around the lore. It's always so funny. If you really want to confuse them tell them about it being a cancer allegory

@@Spacething7474 So one of the main people handling the story had an intimate experience with cancer within either themselves or a loved one. In Bionicle lore, there is a species of beings called Makuta whose initial existence in-lore was to protect Mata Nui (what ends up being the universe/giant robot itself). However, they go rogue (quite like what can happen with human cells that turn cancerous) and essentially try their hardest to bring down its host body/Mata Nui. Smaller details include the little villagers, Matoran, working for seemingly no reason whatsoever until you realize they're carrying out their host body/Mata Nui's bodily processes like cells and whatever else makes our body tick from the inside. It's insanity.

In all LEGO games released on PC from 2009-2016, there's a code you can enter that isn't listed in many places. If you enter the code "N0CUT5" (that's a zero), it'll let you skip any cutscene even if it hasn't played in the save file yet.

Glad you guys covered many of the forgotten titles pre-TT Games. I honestly think many people believe that Lego Star Wars was the first Lego game ever made. While I cannot deny the quality of the modern titles, I do wish Lego would branch out to more genres like previously and try different things. Another shot at Legoland or another Lego Racers or even a game similar to Lego Creator would be very interesting given the amount of sets to play with now. It could combine both classic and modern City themes into one game for both old and new fans.

Lego Rock Raiders I can certainly attest to its increased difficulty, especially for a Lego title, its later levels really do have you against the wall with decreased oxygen, power drains and in some levels literal lava cutting off access to important caves of resources and burning away your base. I find it has a thrill in that regard and I have enjoyed going back and playing it over the years. I really think its a good idea that could be expanded upon in a spiritual sucsessor of a base survival RTS.

Middle Earth is huge in that one, much more than it really needed to be for The Hobbit, since it includes Caradhras, the entrance to Moria and even Lothlórien, which never appeared in The Hobbit films. It's obvious that the developers liked the world, so it makes it all the more frustrating that it was never completed. I would love to see a Lego Middle Earth that encompassed all the Peter Jackson films and even the newer animated one they are making, since it's also in that universe.

As a harry potter fan i've always thought that the DS and PSP versions of LEGO harry potter 1-4 were better than the console equivalent, mainly because the content felt more similar to the books rather than the movies. The handheld version of 1-4 had interesting little details like peeves in the main story, moments where you had to deal with fire crabs and blast-ended skrewts, and it had a really engaging spellcasting system where you had to do certain inputs to cast a spell rather than to just swap to a spell and hit a button. The potion making, transfiguration, and goblin door minigames were also great ways to spice up the content. The PSP is better than the ds version however as you don't have to deal with touchscreen controls and the graphics are slightly better.
Also 5-7 is most likely better on console but the handheld version had something called the dueling club where you could play a special dueling minigame against all types of characters throughout the series with the final bosses being the original founders of hogwarts that had massive health bars and powerful specials. the dueling minigame for handhelds was fantastic and when I replayed the game on console I was slightly disappointed with how tedious it played.

I feel like the reviews cited frequently missed the points of the game. The description of Lego Island 2 frequently cited the first game, but it wasn’t the first game, it was a plot-based adventure game for a middling young audience. Lego Rock Raiders for the PC was an RTS that provided a heavy challenge without being a highly competitive multiplayer scene. It probably deserved a score around there because it was buggy as hell but it was inventive for the genre. Honestly kinda tired of the games being dunked on by misunderstanding them as a whole, and while that’s mostly the reviewers, some more criticism of the critics was due.

Lego Star Wars II for PC was my first Lego video game. A Christmas gift from one of my brothers. I was genuinely impressed with how fun it was and how well it retold the trilogy story with no dialog.
But honestly I really REALLY loved 1:42:35 Lego City Undercover. I could only play it for short times being a truck driver with no way of playing a Wii U while on the road. So I was overjoyed when it was ported to PC via Steam. Since it released on Steam I have logged over 700 hours in that game. The City is just such a joy to play in I keep coming back. I was even happy to get the small pack for Lego Dimensions that followed up a few things like Stinky Fletcher's fate or how the space program seems to have commandeered Forrest Blackwell's moon base. So when I play Lego Dimensions at home Chase is always a character I put in to fill out a roster.

Bizarre to me that the Game Boy Colour version of Lego Stunt Rally got a higher critical reception than the PC version... I grew up with the PC version and whilst it's not an amazing game by any means, I spent ages building tracks in the track editor. Sort of a proto-version of Trackmania. GBC version by contrast is like a really bad Atari 2600 game with awful sound design.

Funnily enough, I liked Lego Racers 2 far more than the original one as a kid because of the adventure mode and the ability to traverse the world freely, the original one was too similar for me to the other kart racing games.

    • @GeriatricFan1963
      @GeriatricFan1963 2 роки тому +3

The open world exploration was the best thing about Lego Racers 2; if only the cars didn't handle so sluggishly; drifting feels absolutely horrible in that game. Also the car construction in the original game felt like it gave you a lot more freedom. LR2 could have been a much better game if Lego Media had kept High Voltage Software onboard instead of switching devs to Attention to Detail.

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I liked it more too, primarily for the open world gameplay. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but Skywalker Saga is the first LEGO game since to give me the same feeling of freedom.
At the end of the day I’m the type of person who likes Kingdom Hearts 1 better than 2 and calls Breath of the Wild his favorite game, and it’s all because exploration and freedom are what I enjoy most out of gaming. Any game that restricts me or puts me on a linear path gives me less joy.

Loco in particular. I absolutely loved Racers though! and Racers 2 I spent way too much time playing. Its a very rough game (from what I remember) but I also loved the adventure mode, it felt almost like a mini metroidvania at times. The one part that no one ever seems to bring up about the game that was pretty cool though was the dual actions for most power ups. You could use the primary fire button to use any power or hold the fire button to do a different power up. It was a very tactical choice (for a kid) that I don't see often enough anymore, and I find that sad. Did the game deserve the rating it got? yeah lol. But did it still have some really good ideas? Hell yeah!

Same here. Considering it was really just there to help sell the toys, the story for Bionicle had way more thought and care put into it than it had any right to be. What I didn't realise as a kid is that the guy who came up with the concept, Christian Faber, got the inspiration for Bionicle from capsules he was taking to treat his brain tumour; what if there was a hero inside fighting the infection to try and make him better? That's why for many years the sets came in these pill-shaped canisters.
