Seizures happen due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It could range from Tonic-clonic seizure, partial seizure, absence seizures in children or sometimes it may just have sensory disturbances.

This is a great educational video. A lot of people don't know there are different types of seizures and think all seizures are grand mal. It's embarrassing for me when I have a seizure in public because people stare at me like I'm some crazy lunatic on drugs or something. One time I had one at school and woke up in a room with two police officers interrogating me and thought I was on drugs. They kept trying to make me confess I was on drugs and I kept explaining to them it was a seizure, but they didn't believe me because they thought all seizures were grand mal.

Most people even some Drs. only become concerned if it's a gran mal. Otherwise they tell you you're just stressed or it was just anxiety or tremors and may recommend talk therapy.

"what should I do when you have one"? "How do I know when you are having one?" I think this will really help people who don't understand seizures!! Thank you!!

I didn't say anything at that time because I didn't know what to do and she was still able to finish grabbing my meds and all... But I should've talked to her.... Asked her if she was alright... I hope she's okay.

I suffer from tonic clonic (or however you write it) seizures and it’s pretty heavy, i had one last monday and seeing this video helps me understand why people tend to panic when seeing me have one. This video is really informative and helps me cope because it often feels like no one understands the problem i’m facing

Very informative! Thank you. I recently found out I may be having seizures and we've been having a hard time describing what they look like to Drs. It's hard to put this is words for those who witness it, because watching me (someone they know) go through it suddenly causes an emotional response from them. It's hard to stay calm and observe carefully when you're frightened and surprised, so this will help them get an idea of what they must look for in the future and help them identify features when/if there are repeats.

my parents said it was terrible to see me in that state
and eventually my brain made me stop learning new things and make me forget things that I already know like how to speak so I took speech lessons for 3 years
But also I remember being told I kept having seizures in assembly and teachers would carry me out
And not to mention the medication I took at the time made me uh I don’t know how to describe it like angry where I would be small tempered
But now it’s a little hard for me to learn things quickly still but I’m much better and I’m proud to say I’m no longer epileptic :))

so I have epilepsy, and I’ve always wondered how it looks and it looks so scary. I can’t believe I go through that like 10-20 times a month(and I’m actually lucky with that because my friend has about 100-150 each month).

the grand mal seizures scare me the most. my brother (who was in highschool at the time) had these almost every week. they scare the shit out of me, i was only 6 and i remember my parents telling me its nothing to worry about and everything will be okay but from what i recall all i could think about was my closed door, hearing "ITS HAPPENING" followed by a tumble and my parents footsteps booming through the house to get to my brother in the restroom. i had seizures too but i could still tell where i was and even navigate (drunkenly) to my parents room, but what my brother went through scares me. they say you grow out of it, and i havent had one since i was 16 but idk man. does it ever come back?
