Elvis was singing to the Creator here folks. He knew it would soon be over, and just 6 weeks later, his heart gave out. Best version of these two songs I ever heard. His emotion just overflowing. That was the GOAT right there.
The opera singer like Pavarotti is all his life overweight...and nobody criticize him. Elvis is really a wonderful singer and can sing opera, gospel,,,,and much more....with a really big heart , generosity and respect his fans... but why some people talk just about is overweight...and criticize... Elvis has give the best of himself all of his life for us....
Elvis was always beautiful..always.He lost any weight(actually weight bloat due to steroids for med condition) he could lose this in days.
His talent stands alone I don't care about his weight.

People loved Elvis. Did not care about his looks. They saw the beautiful soul behind his powerful voice. He was just a man with an Angels voice. Honest reaction can see you have a good soul also.
His gospel truly reaches in to your soul.
Elvis had a personal relationship with God, and it showed everytime he sang this song. If you don't feel God in this song, you may need to do some soul searching. This song won him 2 of his 3 Grammy Awards.
How Great Thou Art won him 2 Grammy Awards. He Touched Me was his other Grammy Award winning performance. Yes, the "King of Rock and Roll" won all 3 of his Grammy Awards for Gospel. I'm 53, and hearing Elvis sing How Great Thou Art still gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes...because he brings me soooo close to God! Thank You God for sharing Elvis with us!

I love hearing you react to Elvis. I was 13 when he died and I cried. My mom saw him live in Lake Tahoe when I was 6 and brought home a program and record. I taped all the picturesfrom the program on my walls (AT 6 YEARS OLD) I was totally in love with Elvis. His voice melted my heart and I love his voice to this day!!!
Elvis did an entire album of Gospel songs. Elvis had spent a lot of time in his youth attending black church services in the south. This is where he came to appreciate Gospel and absorbed the style of black Gospel singers.

I had a friend whose father would see Elvis perform when they would go to Vegas. Ge told us that every time he would get to a gospel song every woman the place, and some men too, would be drenched in their own tears.

I love this girl's reaction. And I loved Elvis. However, I am old enough to remember the younger, healthier Elvis from the mid-1950s thru early 1970s. His stage performances then were absolute magic. There was no one else like him. The tragedy of his early death was heart breaking., but he really did change the world.
That's why Elvis is called the King, The Voice, and he treated everyone with respect, he was a Great Humanitarian and he Revolutionized Music, I Love Elvis. No One Can Ever Come Close To Elvis !

There was literally no genre Elvis couldn't nail throughout his career. R&B, Country, Honky Tonk, Standards, Adult Contemporary, Rock, Pop, Blues, Soul, Light Opera, Christmas, Gospel, Rockabilly, Hawaiian love songs, , Italian loves ongs, Spanish love songs.
I am a Kenyan born and have been a life long fan since my early childhood days . Can listen to the King everyday and in fact do , helps me relax .

Sadly his health was very bad here he was short of breath & he didnt have long to live, many believe he knew it but he still gave everything he had for his fans and his magnificent voice never failed even here. This was only weeks from his passing and that day you would have thought the Pope himself had died. His funeral procession was nothing but a white hearse and white limousines with thousands of fans choking the streets crying and saying goodbye to the one they all loved, the one and only Elvis Presley. RIP Elvis we will never forget you.

This was just weeks before Elvis died. in 1977. This was probably his single greatest song performance of his life. Many say said the band and choir knew he wasn't going to last much longer in his condition, overweight and drugged up. He was a mess yet he did some concert dates that summer. Gone too soon, very sad.
Bloated and very , very ill. Lets remember the very real, very serious, and numerous health problems he had. Not all from drugs. He quite possibly was really suffering here!

Elvis still had that Amazing voice right up to the very end of his life, & when he died 8 weeks after this concert, the world lost its brightest star & the music industry lost its greatest singer. When he sang How Great Thou Art he was singing to God with all his heart & soul. I always cry when I listen to this performance. We will never see anyone who can, in my opinion, come even close to Elvis as a singer & entertainer. He had a sensational voice. Great Reaction.

Elvis gave so much back to his fans but also just GAVE & GAVE & GAVE as he received & Fame takes a toll. My own father died of heart attack @ same age as Elvis, 42. No judgement on this man's soul!

Elvis was my friend we met in the 70's i won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted up until his death. He was the best friend i ever had on this earth. I walk past Graceland everyday without fail. i love your reaction it is so sweet and genuine. I spoke to E. before he passed it was a short conversation he said i love ya kiddo he always called me kiddo i called him E. he got a kick out of it. I was crying he said it will be okay but it wasn't he gave me a little kiss on the cheek and said i love ya kiddo still crying i said i love you too E. i never saw my friend alive again after that day he was so ill it broke my heart.. i will never get over his loss ever.. he never lost that awesome voice. love to you from Memphis Tn.
When he first recorded How Great Thou Art back in the 60’s he had never heard it before and Ray Walker who was one of his backup singers had a hym book in his car and he got it showed the song to Elvis. Ray said he read it and then recorded it in one take.

Elvis's voice was so amazing.
I wish he would have had a good doctor especially since his mother died so young at 46 and she was heavyset and Bloated just like Elvis would get. They probably had the same health condition. Then in addition Elvis had to take lots of prescription drugs to sleep and lots of prescription drugs to get him feeling energy. It's a shame he was able to get all those prescriptions but back in the 70s most of us believe if a doctor prescribe the stuff to you then it had to be safe.
His mother had a drinking problem, Elvis didn't drink, but all the prescription medication took a toll on him. God how we MISS this gift grom God for humanity.

I was born in 1968 and I grew up on all the great classics of Elvis Presley and I remember every Sunday my mother putting on the eight track of Elvis‘s gospel songs and I grew up on the platters and adventures in the beach boys and Jan and Dean and then I came into the 80s and got into metal and then eventually graduated back to the blues with more softball feel.
What I’m trying to say is when I hear Elvis thing I always know that for me, he was the greatest performer! God bless all of you!

I grew up on elvis and I clearly remember the day he passed. Every radio station, tv station was on air 24 /72 hrs straight playing everything he touched.

This concert was in June 1977 & Elvis was a very sick man. This was his final concert & 8 weeks later Elvis died at his home Graceland. But his voice was still as amazing as it has ever been. The older man he bought up on stage was his father, Vernon Presley. Vernon died less than 2 years after his only child, Elvis died. He was broken hearted by the loss of his son. Elvis was a worldwide superstar & he will never be forgotten, because millions of people all across the world still love him. He was an amazing human being who loved everyone, no matter what the colour of their skin. And he helped hundreds of people during his career which had began in 1954 when he was 19 years old.
