My Take on DJI RS3 Pro - Is this a review?

  • I don’t really do reviews on this channel, and this certainly isn’t one by what most people would call a review. But in one of the videos on my time lapse project I talked about using DJI’s RS3 Pro to shoot hyper lapse images. And in that I mentioned that I would take a more detailed look at the RS3 Pro in a future video. Well this is that video.
If you’re looking for a detailed review that hits all the marketing points, this is probably not the video for you. However, if you’re looking for impressions on how the RS3 Pro fits into a UA-camr level shooter’s workflow and and what they learned from using one, then this might be the video for you.

Yeah I definitely need a better solution if I was going to do more weddings. Some sort of support for that gimbal. I already have enough issues from being a truck driver for 15 years

I actually bought a neewer rotatable arca Swiss adapter. It allows you to rotate the camera quickly and easily. I did not realize it would not work with my small rig cage. I'm sure you would be able to figure it out in 2 seconds but I contacted neewer and they told me if I pay for shipping I can return it that's it

I did something similar but now I am looking at the Zyun Crane. DJI is usually pretty good and they do have a lot of issues but I like their products the best

I doubt you'll get any better results replacing your RS2 with a Crane. The problem almost certainly isn't your gimbal, but you. Or more specifically how you're walking when you're using it.
Remember, a gimbal can't do anything about vertical and horizontal movement; it can only deal with pan tilt and roll and keeping the camera pointing in the same direction. You have to remove the vertical movement from your stride by changing how you walk and how you hold the gimbal. There's far more technique to getting a smooth gimbal shot that it appears, and it takes a lot of practice to get it down (and I'm no where near close either).

I'm pretty sure small rig makes a manfrotto adapter that will work with DJI. I just bought the small rig carbon fiber tripod I just havent opened it yet lol

I was wondering what the easiest way is to wirelessly transmit video from a camera to a monitor. I have the Raven I from the original RS2 but only really works with RS2 I think

I have the RS2 Pro combo version and I love it but it made me realize how horrible handheld shots are lol.

Hey Jason. This question is not about this video, but about something previous that I cannot locate. I have the R5 and there is a setting you taught me where in the EVF one can switch from the default setting to use the main dial in Manual mode to advance through setting options. Do you recall? Ty!

The only thing I can think of that comes close to what you're describing is the dial function menu which is usually programmed to the m-fn button by the shutter release. Other than that, I'm drawing a blank.

@@PointsInFocus Thank you for the response.
In the Canon orange menu for button programming, I programmed my front DOF preview button, to cropping/aspect ratio.
In the EVF viewer, when I select the DOF button and it pulls up aspect ratios, I have programmed my main dial for my index finger to move to the 1.6 crop factor. This is how I move quickly in and out of crop mode to full frame.
But there’s an internal switch somewhere in the menu where I have to change the default setting from “pushing a button“ to using the dial or “scrolling” to advance to the aspect ratio to the 1.6 crop or or square or whatever it is. I can’t remember where that setting is.

Hello i had shot some video from my R5C for clothing brand BT 709 standard XF AVC YCC 422 10 bit 3840*2160 L. GOP i have never colour corrected a video still learning editing what is the way to colour grade them in 1 footage white balance went yellow.

Exactly how you'd have to color grade something will depend on the software you're using, and what's actually wrong with the footage.
I'll be honest, color grading is still a bit of a mystery to me. I work on the if it looks good to my eye, it's good principal. But a lot of getting from raw footage to that is still messing around with out a lot of concrete direction.
I'd recommend checking out @DarrenMostyn. He's a professional colorist and has a bunch of good videos on color grading (mostly specific to Resolve).
