And ten years later - still the quickest and easiest bookmark tutorial on UA-cam. Thanks Whitney! I know you don’t post much these days, but I refer back to your old tutorials frequently for bags and miscellaneous easy projects. ❤
This I am making today! I read a lot and always need them, so this is perfect. Thank you so much. Not sure how I missed this little gem of a tutorial, but I am so glad I found it.
This was so fun to make, and now I know what my special little something is in my Christmas cards this year! I made mine by using heat n bond and ironing down small scraps, like crazy scrap quilting. I cut the bookmarks to size, 3"x7" and just did a bit of sewing over the scraps, and then used one of my fancy edging stitches on my machine, rather than turning them inside out. It is really awesome, and I like how they turned out. They also are wonderful in my Bible. Thanks for the idea, I like this tutorial the best, it is very inspirational.
Thank you for idea, Whitney. I really enjoy your tutorials. Am currently re-reading Dark Carpathian series, as new book to be released early next month.
It's Monday so that means a new video is up! In this tutorial I show how to use scraps of fabric to create this cute (and really easy!) DIY fabric bookmark! ua-cam.com/video/gUYg1HRAre0/v-deo.html
I have been doing a lot of reading this summer too. I love your book mark, and I am going to look through my stash to make one today. Currently, I just started reading Debbie Macomber's new series The Inn at Rose Harbor, and I love it. Two more to go after this one. Thanks for sharing another great video with us, Whitney.
Completed Honore De Balczac's "An Old Maid" today. Depressing, mostly. Your lovely little book mark is adorable, but perhaps a sleeve for my nook? Or a screen cleaner?
I love your bookmark! What a great little gift. I am re-reading The Witching Hour by Anne Rice and I just finished re-reading The Stand by Stephen King (about a pandemic!)
Love your channel! Beginner at sewing and I love how easy the process is to follow. Will be trying to make an apron and this bookmark soon :) Thank you! And currently reading allegiant
Been inspired by your videos! As a beginner I am a little unsure about certain things. My main question is about interfacing. I notice you also used in in your ninja turtles messenger bag. Is there a good type of interfacing to start out with? Eg what weight and sew in or iron on?! Can't wait to make some bookmarks as Christmas gifts!
SwecksB I love medium weight fusible interfacing from pellon the most. It is my go to for a lot of projects. But for messenger bags and things you can use a heavier weight interfacing for more structure and stability :)
I'm totally gonna do this project, I love it!! I just got done reading the 3 book series by Jesse Petersen called Living with the Dead, I loved it!! Zombie apocalypse, killing action and romance?! Who could ask for more?! LoloL I am currently reading Mr. Darcy, Vampire by Amanda Grange and I'm really liking it so far! I'm a total Pride and Prejudice junkie LoloL Oh I also had a full day to myself and did a quick 3hr straight read of The Giver in preparation for the movie coming out, can't wait!!! Thanks for all you're awesome videos Whitney!!! -Linda Marie
Just came across this and am heading to my craft room to make some! I love that you used scraps...something that most of us have lots of :-) I am reading the "Mitford Series" by Jan Karon. Such a wonderful series!
I love this I need to make one for myself and then for my book loving friends lol I am currently finishing "the bane chronicles" by Cassandra Clare it is part of her shadowhunter collections
Wow. And here all I was doing was trimming a seam from a throw-away and using that! I'm reading "Michaelangelo and the Pope's Ceiling." Yeah, it's my bedtime sleep pill. Read a page or two and sleep happens. :-}
Nice! This reminds me of a headband I just made for my daughter. I used a pattern I found online. My grandson is having the Harry Potter series read to him by his mom (my daughter) and he loves the books. So did I and my daughter. Look up the books by Lisa Lutz about the Spellmans.
I'll make some of these book marks for my family, who are readers. My favorite book this past year was "The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs: The Untold Story of a Lost World by Steve Brusatte. It's a good read for non-scientists, offering a summary of the 5 extinction events that the earth has gone through, and the lifeforms that evolved.
It is stitching done on top that will show on the finished project, as opposed to the regular stitching that is nit seen after the bookmark was stitched and flipped right sides out.
