    I’ve been using it for a week now and it’s definitely helped me out especially on 1st time tracks. Worth the $100 yearly fee. I started using it on the last day of SilverStone with the SFL and I gained a full second after a 30 min session on my official 4 lap Time Trial.

      @@NielsHeusinkveld Considering I’ve been on the sim 3 months and I’ve only used the program for a week I spent the majority of my time not using the program. I found the program to be extremely helpful especially for someone that can’t spend all day on the sim grinding.

      @@underSTATEDexcellence Do you think it will help your actual skills? Or do you feel for each car and track you'd need to use this program? I.e. will it help you develop driving skill or will it stop you from learning it yourself? Genuinely curious.

      @@NielsHeusinkveld I only used it with the SFL at Silver Stone because it was my first time at that track, (I was having a hard time mastering it) I haven’t used it on any other tracks yet because I already knew this weeks tracks. It was helpful to me because I didn’t know Silver Stone. It’s not something you’ll use for long if that’s what you mean. But I found it useful as it gave me the #1 fastest Time Trial at Silver Stone for week 3. I don’t know what they’re going to do to retain memberships though. Once you’ve learned the skills I don’t know what more you could do.

    • @NielsHeusinkveld
      @NielsHeusinkveld 2 місяці тому +5

      @@underSTATEDexcellence Yeah exactly. Ideally, but this is not in their interest, you don't just learn that specific car/track combo, but you put tools in your toolbox so eventually you can get speed out of any car on any track yourself. And that results in the proud moment when you no longer use setup or coaching ''services''.. Anyway that's just how I see it, but thankfully I don't get to tell how others should go about their hobbies. :)

    I really like this app. One thing I wish it would do is display the inputs in a single widget. As it is I need multiple widgets open to see throttle, break and gears. It would also be great if we could import external telemetry data, we only have the option to import other users data, but generally the lap times are not fast.

      Honestly I think it just looks at the two telemetry and tells you what you need to do to match the target telemetry which frankly is what all some coaches do too and you could do yourself with laps from garage69. The difference here to thet is you can do it in real time as you drive with overlays which is cool but I doubt there is a lot of AI here.

    Mmm. I have used this and struggled with it. Some comments are useful, some are not. " Try taking this 20 kmh faster" I found unhelpful. Also, in a left right chicane, where the corners are only about 25m apart: "Try braking 25m earlier for the right turn". On the Nurburgring the corners come so close together that comments overlapped so it was giving two instructions at the same time!
    More useful would be to tell me HOW to take corner 20kmh faster.

    Or you just look at the laps of better drivers for lines, brake points etc.. Do that 5 minutes per practice session and you will pick up a lot. Sorry to be negative but I wouldn't pay what they ask for this. For example T1 in that car is flat, or very close to flat. It was teaching you to full lift (and even brake) instead of telling you to lift slightly, find the line, then try flat and find the line. You need to take a wide entry there, then use the downforce to flick it in up to the wall. The throttle trace was the same for all laps. That telemetry looked like its from SF not SFL, T1 isn't even a full lift in SF either in that corner. I guess its good if you are a beginner but anything more and this will just make you run around in circles, that base lap is not even on a 2-2.5k level lap.

    Now, where does the AI get the telemetry from?
    Is it possible to put in other telemetry, for example if I am a 2k driver, of a 3k-4k driver to learn something step by step instead of chasing the holy grail.
    And is it possible to feed the app with the telemetry of a 7k driver, if I am a 4-5k driver to learn the last exploits of the sim?!
    Or is there an app based limitation and the telemetry is just calculated and doesnt use the "tricks" (talent or whatever) of an E Sports driver?
    If I could use the telemetry of my teammates, to find the last 0.5s of my talent (4k in GT3, a little bit less in a GTP maybe 3.5-4k) this would help a lot I guess.

    Next thing, we'll just have AI telling us at exactly which point to brake for every single braking zone for every lap. Might as well not even drive anymore. Imagine in real life some magical computer knew the exact point to brake for every turn for every tyre for every weather condition for every car. Some guy who may not have had the skill, the intuition, the nerves, or the feel to realize a corner or braking zone could be taken in a different way will now instantly be notified...so much for the other driver/s who actually have the skill to realize it themselves rather than being told. Their performance gap - which they rightly deserve due to being more skilled (or having more practice or whatever) - just got drastically reduced or potentially even fully negated due to the other driver being told exactly what to do, where to do it, how to do it, when to do it, by a computer.
    Stuff like this makes me sick. Heck, just lame driver aids like traction control and ABS make me sense, let alone a computer telling you exactly how to drive.

    • @dakaodo
      @dakaodo 2 місяці тому +1

      That's what the Luddites said too, and yet here we are today, with only people on Etsy making and selling artisanal handwoven fabric.
      I'm not saying you're wrong. On the contrary, you'd likely be quite right -- IF ALL OTHER FACTORS STAYED THE SAME. But this is just an AI buzzword iteration similar to what happened as auto racing in the 1930s began to turn professional with human coaches. By your logic and traction control / ABS extensions, this should also apply to race telemetry technologies and many other modern racing aids. Surely you've watched modern races and coaching. We already have the human form of coaching, people talking in your ear and telling you where your brake points are, and yet somehow good race drivers still manage to separate out from indifferent drivers.
      No development exists in a vacuum. It's what the Peltzman effect describes, for safety equipment. Make something easier, safer, or otherwise better, and humans competing at the upper limits of their abilities will still find ways to push further. Even with an AI telling you exactly where your braking points are, as long as a human is in the loop, performance will be dependent on that human's ability to process and act on those instructions. Computer tools can't manage our stress and adrenaline for us -- that's still wholly human territory. The lack of nerves you lightly dismissed is actually very central to this. An AI coaching tool might raise the overall average speed of the participants by a small fraction, but there will still be people who process and respond to inputs (including any hypothetically ideal AI prompting) differently.
      Today you don't see unqualified regular Joes jumping into an F1 race for a quick lark, and winning a podium on their first try. If we sub YOU into the driver's seat for Sebastien Loeb, Lewis Hamilton, etc with all of their support infrastructure, coaching, etc. all their computerized *stuff* isn't going to magically make you the equal of those drivers.
      An AI coach isn't going to change this dynamic. If and when best-in-class AI tools do get wider market penetration, everyone who's in a given field will get those AI tools, if nothing else just to keep up with the Joneses. If anything, the additional expenses will only marginally widen the performance gap between have and have-not teams based on their funding, sponsorships, etc just as we have already seen in racing for decades.
      Even if one day we get to a point where AlphaGo comes to racing and beats every human driver, there will still be a racing equivalent of Etsy with "unenhanced" or "classic" divisions for humans who want to quaintly race against each other.

      @@polar_inertia obviously the audio part of it will be fine but the HUD boxes will need VR support. Racelabs overlays has VR support but you need to jump through a few hoops to get it to work.

    I'm not sure I would call Sebring technical. It's mostly point and shoot with very few corners that get strung together.
