We're on the MSC Seashore now. "Quickly extinguished" seems to be relative. It was just over 3 hours. We took a nap in our stateroom and the smoke filling our cabin and burning electrical smell woke us up right before the alarm and Foxtrot Echo announcement. Started just before 7:30 and lasted until just after 10:30. Were on deck 12 and they opened our room doors and balconies to ventilate it and evacuated decks 16 and up forward. We were kept updated with announcements such as "it's being managed", "firefighters are working diligently" and then the "it's under control" at about 10:30. All of the elevators just came back online as of Tuesday afternoon. We left Ocean Cay so that the Divina could come in and told we'd hang out for a couple of hours while technicians completed their work. We saw people in wheelchairs and scooters sleeping on couches and chairs in public areas on whichever floor they were on at the tine as well as crew members carrying people up the stairs, etc. Top deck remains closed, waterslides are out of service, and there still seems to be a ventilation/ac issue in the aft. The crew did a great job.
Glad all is okay. I figured it’d be relative. I try to go by the quote the cruise line gives for accuracy. I hope you enjoy the rest of your sailing despite the set back.
I have family on the ship, I doubt with all the inconvenience they will provide any compensation. A previous cruise with MSC in a suite ,We were locked out on the deck during a rain storm due to malfunction of the sliding glass doors, and terrible hard beds. They refused to provide a discount they just apologized for the inconvenience.
@@ckendall9955 You're so lucky. Did you hear about the Japanese waters cruise that had engine trouble? Flights had to be arranged for 4000 passengers. They also got full refund plus vouchers for the onboard shops. The first class passengers got 50% off vouchers for their next cruise. MSC Bellisima 🤦♀️
Morning Doug, Really scary fire on a cruise ship. This is the second incident with MSC. This fire and Japanese cruise I believe canceled, ship never left port. I like Princess. Glad to hear bookings up. Thanks Doug. Always appreciate your cruise news. Thank you.
Good morning Doug! Setting out for Tampa tomorrow and cruising on Thursday, NCL Jewel for 11 days to the Southern Carribean. Thanks for all the news and have a great day.
Thanks Doug. I will be cruising on Regal Princess departing on Monday 12/16. First time with Princess. Previously all on Carnival. Looking forward to trying another product.
@ No kidding! 😂 Luckily I live on the other side of the San Sebastián River so I can see the Nights of Lights from my place but I’m not in that crazy traffic!
I don't think I would say inhaling known carcinogens due to the fire is considered safe. That's simply not true. Nor do I consider a 20% coupon for a future cruise appropriate let alone compensation, especially for those of us whose rooms were filled with smoke and fumes for days. It's not compensation at all. Am I grateful people did their jobs and kept us safe? Absolutely. Am I happy with cooperate? FU*K NO!!! I hope there's a class action lawsuit for ALL those aboard, especially the employees who had to work under the hazardous conditions. We had migraines, nausea, and sore throats due to our cabin being filled with smoke. I can only imagine how bad the interior cabins of the workers were.
I'm so frustrated. I tried to get in touch with my Princess agent and she completely ghosted me even though I had booked a trip with her earlier this year and last year. This is why I do everything myself. All travel agents are flaky and non responsive after the first 1 or 2 emails.

We're still having a blast. Could be much worse, we could be home in the cold and snow ❄️

Mornin' Doug!! A "small" generator fire sure isn't part of what you want in a sail-away party. Glad they were able to continue cruising.

Imagine if this was a Carnival ship, people would be p---ing in bags for a week.

I've used VTG for years & never had a problem.
