Extremely good work. When i saw the corrosion damage i was like... Good luck dealing with that. Definitely too deep to not cover somehow but the ax was too small. Had not seen ferric cloride to finish.
I think you did a great job on this one. With old tools that have this much corrosion and pitting, you either have to use the ferric chloride or risk losing too much material to get it smooth. I think you made the right call on this one. Love the handle as well. Happy New Year!
I have watched every restoration video you have done and I'm always excited to watch the new ones. Watching your skills increase with each video and seeing the new tools you acquire keeps things different between every video. Love it and keep up the good work!
Excellent work as always my friend you just keep getting better and better with your work nice handle on this one and glad you kept the head dull instead of Shiney till the next one stay safe my friend look forward to the next one thank you Brian and all the best to you and your family for the new year 🍺🍺🍺⭐⭐
Happy new year ! When you have pitting like that I've seen other restorers use a putty to fill it in. Then sand it again and paint all the pitting metal. Hope that helps. Have a great day.
I wish I had your knack for finding this old stuff. Either theres a lot of it where you are, or you're like a bloodhound that can sniff out rusty metal. Back to the vid, I can't wait to see what you do with this one.
Does its job and that's what counts. I think I would have left the "forest of trees" on it and highlighted them a bit. But, that's just me. Good job my friend.
.@@ScrewsAndTools Oh well. It's not as if it looks _bad_ (in fact some people prefer the worn look). It's functional, no longer covered in rust and has a non-slip grip, so it's a job well done in my book!
I think putting in a furnus (I can’t spell this) to soften the metal and then sanding it to smooth it out. Them put it back in the furnus and cooling it with oil to harden it again. Idk.
First them all, never it's too late for wishing you an excellent and productive year 2020. in adttion it´s a really nice restauration, greattings from S.L.P. México!!!
Pro-finding fault with work. Plastic is fragile and will split from blows. We need plastic protection near the work part. Small weight, weld and bolt plates in the back. A toy for a very easy job.
nice work but sharpen it up. Too dull for my taste. I like every blade as close to razor sharp as I can get it. I was kinda hoping you'd weld a hammer head to the back side of the blade or something. I think at some point, you need to start making your own blades and hatchets from raw metal. You don't need a lot of fancy equipment, There was a guy from the Philippines that used a satellite dish and a blow dryer connected with metal pipe to the fire pit as his forge, and he did right well. other than that, you need a few hammers and an anvil. but even those can be made or improvised. Redoing what you can find is all right, but I feel that's not letting your real talent soar. By the way, however you're learning your English, keep it up, you're better in every vid.
Thank you so much! Yes you're right! I very wish become a blacksmith also, due I love metal and wood. Well, I hope I will do this! Best wishes and happy new year!
Hi mister screws beautiful restoration good job well done
Ficou linda demais essa machadinha

Great restoration! They don’t all have to look brand new. That hatchet has a lot of character.
Extremely good work. When i saw the corrosion damage i was like... Good luck dealing with that. Definitely too deep to not cover somehow but the ax was too small. Had not seen ferric cloride to finish.
As far as the deep corrosion, maybe zinc plating to fill in the holes and add metal back to the piece. Then sand it smooth.
Happy new year!
That became a fine little bushcraft axe, fine work as always.

Muito obrigado! Tudo de bom para você!
I don't how good of an idea this is, but I've seen people sometimes use a welder to fill deep pits in the metal.
Yes I know sir, but I don't have a welding machine, sorry =(

Awesome job. Have a very happy and blessed New Year
I like it
You can try a car body filler type product to fill in the holes.
HauntingsbyDesign, will that work on skin wrinkles? 😜
What is that powder, you put on, before scrubbing?
This is a common cleaning agent.
Happy new year! Amazing work! Best wishes. 👏⚒
Happy new year. Nice job as always. Welding would add more material.
Hello sir! Yes you're right, but I don't have a welding machine, sorry.
Someone might have said this already but to help with the pitting "holes" try a mig welder to fill the then gring it to even
Yes sir, you're right but I don't have welding machine.
@@ScrewsAndTools ah makes sence
pretty cool 😎👍

iat doch professionel gemacht,toll
Hammered textures would hide defects

Net gorn, sorry
I would have left it as is after cleaning, gives it character, maybe a little bit of gun bluing so it doesn't rust on me
You can hit the axe and next hammer it it's good way
Nice video but safety should be your first priority !! That hatchet and machine saw looked dangerously close to your fingers !!
Will do sir. Thank you for attention. Happy new year!

@@ScrewsAndTools by the way, with the balance you managed, if it will hold together (the metal, your work is fine) it would be a good throwing axe.

No, sir)
He is a "Russian" but he is a "cat".
Use body filler like you use on a car for body work.
