This video is sooooooo necessary. Thank you so much. That phondo hairstyle is what made me convert from relaxed to natural. I had long relaxed hair and I always wore my hair in a high pony tail and GURL.... I ended up with a bold spot on my side. I was so scared and thought it wouldn't grow back and that's when I decided to go back to basics and cut of all my hair and start from scratch. Now my hair is so much more fuller, longer nje it's flourishing hey but I'm so cautious now about my hairline YOH.

Yoh!!! That's true hey, a high puff on a daily basis is a NO! NO! I also witnessed that last year. Even were I used to place my hair band, my hair broke... I had to cut during December to re-level it.
Yoh babe, I learnt that hard lesson too. And you're right hey...that area where you place the hair band starts to break off and you're left with very uneven hair.
I have been fully natural for 2years and just within the last month embraced the high puff style. Yolz it is cute but I could feel my hair strain . Now I do puffs but my type 4 hair sticks out on the side because I won't sleek it up. But I'll have my edges :)

The pillow counts too. Silk pillow cases are less damaging for people who don't cover their hair when they sleep.
Wearing a stocking or uduku is also important. I had hair line issues and I wasn't playing around with my hair at all. But a good friend adviced me about sleeping without head gear and pillow cases and I've seen change.

Yhoooo never in my life will I ever get my hair done at the hair salons again. Those people pull your hair because they want their "work" to look good, fine, but it costs me R200 and my hair line yhuuu hayi nah fam ✋ imma stick to doing box braids that aren't too tight by my sister, thanks.

Thanks for this video. I recently went to the salon to do istraight back. Listen I kept it literally for 3 days and decided to undo the hair style . The pain and my hair line almost vanished but because I felt like my hair line doesn't deserve all that suffering , I decided to undo it. Never again sisi. Sticking to my chunky corn rows now lol
This video was so necessary, siyabonga for the great tips! My edges fell out postpartum and it took a full year to grow them back. I didn’t install any type of braids, just let my hair breath.

I did micro braids in 2016. It was my first and last time doing them because I had to cut my hair and start afresh because of all of the hair loss on my hairline💔🇿🇦

When I do bantu knots I make sure when working with the front I brush my edges away, they can also do damage, one of those silent killers you see as time goes by... Also box braids or braids in general especially if they're long and you wear them down, now those are deadly!

Hy Yolz, I am so glad that I have stumbled upon this video. I hope you respond cause I need your advice, and everybody's. Last year I always slayed my natural relaxed hair, occasionally doing protective hairstyles, mostly braids. This year I began wearing weaves, glueless ones and recently i have been rocking my natural hair again. Now after i removed the weave i had, I relaxed my hair, put on some hair food and amla oil on my roots, did not blow dry and my hair was fine. The next day i woke up and my edges were gone,like I was bald.I then put on a band around my hairline to hide the baldness.The other day some parts of my hair were looking unrelaxed and each time i combed my hair, i lost a lot of hair.Now I don't know what caused the hair loss and hair breakage, is it the weaves, relaxer,amla oil or blow drying the hair and what should i do?Thanks in advance.

I know a lot of people don't like leaving any hair out especially with braids because it's 'untidy' but rather have it untidy then be left with no edges.

My edges are starting to thin ever since I jumped on to the bandwagon, yet all I’ve been using is that ors edge control 🤷🏾♀️ think it’s time to stop and just let them be...
Which bandwagon love? Edge control is meant to be used occasionally with a certain style, but it is by no means to be used on a daily, as it doesn't aid in hair growth but it is rather a mere styling product and an alternative to other harsher products like hair glue.

Hi yolz. Love your videos. Do you do protective styles? If not why? I naturally have a sensitive scalp, I have tried protective styles but I end up having a sore scalp even when the hair style is not tight. As long as I have extension my scalp gets sore. My question is, how do I retain length without protective styles?
Hey love, no hun. I barely do protective styles for 2 specific reasons - 1. My hairline is naturally weaker than the rest of my hair. 2. My hair grows very well without the help of protective styles thankfully, and that's mainly attributed to how I take care of it.
You can deep condition weekly, moisturise often while making sure you do not over manipulate the hair. That's what I do. I will also add that this although this method works for me...it might not work for someone else as our scalp and hair needs are different.
Thank you. I Will try not to protective style until mid May and deep condition. I am only 1 yr natural so am still figuring things out.

micro braids took my edges and they have never brought them back :) Its been over 10yrs shm hahahaha I learnt my lesson now I go to that hair salon I say don't braid the edges they say ok but don't tell anyone u did your hair here cause they think they will lose customers due to a bad braiding job

Hilya Iikuyu Hey love, I actually don't use an app. I usually snip an image from the raw footage of a video or use an existing pic from my phone and paste it on a powerpoint presentation. Then I play around with the text, colour and format before saving it as a JPEG image.
