Learning about my natural hair has definitely been a struggle, especially since for many years I had dread locks and had to cut them because of the high school I went to. So for years I've been relaxing then cutting my hair over and over and finally last year I came to terms with the fact that I need to keep my hair natural.
For my routine I apply rice water for 3 hours. To prep the rice water just rinse it then add it to a jar and cover it with water and let it sit for a week. As soon as the 3 hours is over I apply conditioner for about 30 minutes to an hour and let it sit under a shower cap. I then rinse it off and shampoo my hair, lastly I condition while I do this I detangle, then rinse. I let my hair air dry and when its dry I apply my leave in conditioner which is the clicks natural brand(as well as my shampoo and conditioner). With the leave in I never apply it to my sculp just on my hair strands. Next its the moisturizer which for me is mpl-root to tip. Lastly oil, the originals black castor oil works the best for me. That's my hair routine completed:)

To be quite honest, I’m learning all over again. I’ve had dreadlocks since 2016 and decided to cut in October this year. So I’m starting from scratch. My current routine includes me washing my hair daily, oiling my scalp and adding some curling cream to bring out my natural coils. Videos such as these help me to learn about what’s important for my hair and scalp at whatever length.

Hi Yolz, this was such an inspiration to watch. After giving birth in lockdown to my first (and so far only child), experiencing post partum hairless to the extreme and losing my self confidence. This year has been difficult with the death of someone extremely extremely close to me and going through the darkest depression ever.
I have realized that shampoo, conditioner and possibly a oil twice a month is okay. I'm still human, my hair is not the definition of me. I am my own woman.
    Apologizes for the long comment.

    Hi hunnie…
My hair routine includes spraying my hair with rice water on weekdays and basing it with oil.
I can do this daily because I work from home and if I need to go out the next day, I deep condition my hair using the home made mayonnaise mask.
I mix mayonnaise, olive oil, avocado and an egg. I leave it on for 2 hours under a plastic tied around my head then wash it out then let my hair dry out naturally. I then base it with oil, leave in conditioner and styling pudding if necessary then I’m ready for the world 🤗

Firstly Yolz, your hair is growing back even more beautiful 😍 . And that affirms me that, in order to have healthy strong hair it’s all in the routine you create and keep consistent at.
Here’s how my routine goes: I wash my hair with TRESemmé Shampoo; then apply the ORS black castor oil; followed by the Olive Miracle growth oil and cream which both suggest anti-breakage because retaining length has been the hardest challenge of my natural hair.
I also believe I don’t afford the products I would like to use as yet, hence the no growth. That is why I would appreciate if you share more of you DIY products.
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My current hair routine includes washing and deep conditioning once a week. Before rinsing off the deep conditioner I detangle my hair. Then dry my hair using a micro fibre towel then moisturise while damp using a cream then followed by an oil to seal in the moisture. I moisturise my hair everyday starting with water, then cream and then oil. I also apply oil on my hairline every morning.

I honestly feel like I've given up on my hair. Had luscious dreadlocks and cut them off shortly after the birth of my son back in 2020. Have since been doing everything I couldn't do with locks on.Even tried a pixie, but now I can barely recognise my hair. It's dull and I just feel like a chiskop will bring it back to life. My routine now includes walking into the shower without a shower cap after gym, washing and massaging my scalp, then using olive oil and shea butter, wrapping it in a doek all day and calling it a day. then wigs if I'll be out and about. Would love to get back to that point where I am intentional about caring for my hair again because haibooo.

I am currently rediscovering my hair & am loving it 😅 I’ve made sure to follow guides on how to take care of 4 C hair type and it has definitely changed my hair game. For someone who used to dislike my hair , I’d never wear it out but now all I do is wear my own hair . My routine includes washing my hair with shampoo 🧴( sulphate free) then deep condition . I do this each time I wash my hair . That would be twice or once a week. Then I use a leave in cream or curling cream . Been struggling a bit with that but will get there lol I don’t put anything on my scalp to avoid it being itchy . Maybe oil from time to time 😅

My current hair routine is washing it every 2 weeks. I always have braids for 4 weeks and I wash them once before taking them off. With braids on i also use a bottle with a long nozzle to get the shampoo in between my braids and sun dry them because Limpopo is very hot Lol, I then use Peppermint oil and turmeric Shea butter (DIY) to lock moisture. During no braids i oil my hair for 30min before washing, then deep condition for an hour and use my Peppermint oil, turmeric Shea butter. I always leave my hair in a protective style ( benny and betty) for 2days before braiding again.

Hello Highness!! I've been natural since 2000. I had the big chop twice! My hair is now to my mid back. I get it trimmed 3-4 times a year. I pre-condition my hair under a plastic cap before washing. I then place a terry cloth cap over the plastic cap for some heat for about an hour. If I'm not going anywhere, I will keep it on overnight. I first wash it with a clarifying shampoo twice, then a moisturizing shampoo. I use a leave in conditioner after towel drying. I then section my hair into 4 sections to detangle and spray it with lavender (I steepen lavender pods I purchased off of Amazon). To seal in the moisture from the lavender spray, I use almond oil or bergamot. I honestly try out different oils. I do this several times through the week if I feel I need more moisture. I also do scalp massages while watching TV or chillaxing for growth stimulation. I will be trying steepened rosemary next. I usually keep my natural hair in a protective style like crochet braids, up-dos, ponytails and wigs. I find that the less manipulation to your hair, the more it grows and retains length. I keep my hair/scalp clean, conditioned, detangled, trimmed and moisturized. I keep my hair up or covered to protect against manipulation and the environmental/atmospheric elements like pollution, cold weather and harmful UV rays.

I’m a lazy natural so I don’t have a set routine I mainly go on how my hair is feeling on that day if it’s feeling dry I do an oil treatment before washing, like you said you need to listen to your hair and follow it’s directions. I LOVE MY HAIR through all the struggles ❤❤

I glad i just discovered Yolz Chanel, I'm looking forward to learn more. I've been growing my natural hair since 2020 January. My hair care routine includes washing my hair every after 2 weeks then deep condition and detangling and stay for at least 20 minutes then rinse my hair. After rinsing I then twist my hair coz shrinkange chamma😩and wrap with a towel to get rid of excess water. Thereafter I'll put oil on my scalp following those twist cubes/lines, untwist my hair then moisturize using moisturizer, put on my oily hair food, once my hair is moisturized/ enough then I'll do some cornrows of at least 2 or 4 lines and that's it😊😊. For the love of Natural hair❤️

I'm a firm believer that we learn everyday and my hair is no exception. My hair routine includes:
-washing my hair(in sections) every other week and deep conditioning once a month or every other month. After a wash I use the LCO method.
-I'm a lazy natural so I usually have a protective style(like flat twists) so when I detangle I use water mixed with Clove oil. When I do have my hair out, I try to practice daily moisturizing so my hair is not too dry.

I have just started learning to understand what works for my hair. I tried rice water when I had braids that was in July this year. I would spray rice water on wash days. And go in with leave in conditioner for like 30 minutes. I kept the braids for a month and every day I’d spray water mixed with a conditioner to soften and hydrate. That worked pretty well that my hair grew a lot. I then got motivated to invest on my hair and actually spend time on them. Still wash twice a month, deep condition and ensure I apply hair oils to my scalp ( I’ve mixed black castor oil, olive oil and coconut oil). Apply moisturiser to retain moisture . I spray water mixed with conditioner every morning and before I go to bed and apply oils to my hairline. I cover my hair with a satin bonnet or satin doek when going to bed.

I had relaxed hair all my life until I decided in April last year that I want to go natural. To tell you the truth, I didn't know what I was doing with my hair I'd just wash it twice a month and it would be in a protective style. Until recently I decided to be intentional and do research on how to retain length as I discovered a bald spot and my hairline was struggling.
    My updated hair routine :
    1. I wash my hair once every two weeks.
    2. I moisturize my hair twice a week.
    3. I've learnt to be very gentle with my hair when combing and detangling, so I only use a wide tooth comb.
    4. My hair loves moisturizing shampoos, thick oils and creamy butters
    5. I can only do braid outs after wash day, I can't Conrow or flattwist to save my life 🤣🤦🏾‍♀️
    6. I leave my hair alone as much as possible
    7. I'm not comfortable cutting my hair so I don't do trims 😩😣
    8. I sleep with a love kinks silk hair bonnet ❤️
Thank you for the video Sis ❤️ will definitely try the onion rinse and I've heard good things about cloves when it comes to hair growth.

I really don't have much of a routine. I wash my hair often when I have corn rows or protective styles because of the itch and the cloaking in my pores. If my hair is loose, I don't wash it that often instead I spray on water mixed with my favourites oils together. To maintain my hair, I buy affordable hair foods or oil, mix them all together because I believe each product has ingredients that are good for hair growth.☺

Hi Yolz, I have been natural since 2008 and have cut it all off 4 times and each time I start over I relearn some things. The past 6 months my routine has been all about saving it from heat damage, yeaah. So simple routine : shampoo, acv rinse (twice a month) , deep condtion (every wash day) and moisturise (LCO). Use protein conditioner twice a month and the other 2 weeks use moisture deep conditioner. Spritz my hair with plain water every single day, also use a mixture of water with my protein leave in conditioner every night. The first 3 months I trimmed every week just to get rid of the damaged hair and my hair recovered fully, got the bounce, the shine and softness back. Another thing I always kept my hair in twist during this process, only took them down to deep condition nand moisturise .I recently did braids and kept them for 2 months, washed them 4 times so even taking down wasn't so difficult. All in all happy with this routine but will change it since my hair recovered , will wash only twice a month from now on

My hair journey has been quite a struggle in the last year. I lost quite a bit of hair at the back and had to chop it but I think my scalp was affected and the hair at the back was not growing as fast as the rest of my scalp. So I officially stopped trimming my hair so it looks normal to the length of the back 2 month ago because I started seeing abit of growth.
Here is my hair care routine.
•Wash every two weeks and swap between a protein treatment and moisture treatment when I wash.
•My hair doesn’t retain moisture so I do LOC method daily.
•first I sprits with water or let water run through my hair in the shower.
    •Apply a Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner
•Apply a blend of oils including- Castor Oil, Olive Oil and sometimes grape seed oil.
•Seal in the moisture with raw shea butter
Your hair looks amazing by the way 🥰

I wash my hair every two weeks (in-between the washes I use shampoo only once a month). I always do an oil treatment first (I apply heated castor oil, coconut oil for 30 minutes or sometimes i leave it in overnight.) and then after rinsing the oils with Lukewarm water, I apply a deep conditioner, detangle my hair and leave it on for 30 minutes with a plastic bag on. Afterwards, I rinse the deep conditioner and proceed with moisturizing my hair. I wait for my hair to be semi dry, and then apply a cream and seal with an oil. I then finish of with twists. I take off the twist the next day and style my hair, and I just redo the twists again to have some length everyday.

When I started with My natural hair during COVID lockdown I didn't even know what I was doing and everyone thought I would get tired of it but 2 years later I'm still here and enjoying it. I have learnt so much from UA-cam so I prefer doing my hair at home, I have only been to a natural hair friendly salon once and here is my routine: I wash my hair every two weeks -section hair into smaller sections, prepare a bottle of water with some conditioner and detangle, I normally use 2 shampoos ( one clarifying and just normal nat hair shampoo) to wash my hair, apply it on the hair, scratch scalp and prayer hands methods then wash with warm water, then deep condition sometimes use the normal conditioner and leave it on my hair for a few minutes the rinse. Dry hair with a towel then apply leave in conditioner followed by oil, moisturizer and seal. On a daily basis I spray on a home made mixture of water oil, moisturizer and sometimes hair butter. I'm lazy so I prefer protective hairstyles like conrows and flat twists and put on a wig when going out. @princess_khuli

I wash and deep condition my hair on either a weekly or biweekly basis, alternating between a protein rich and protein free deep conditioner. I detox my hair using a clay mask once a month. In between I moisturise my hair every 2-3 days using the LOC method.
During winter, that's when I do long term protective styles, and my hair would be washed every 2-3 weeks. I found that taking supplements rich in iron helped with some growth. Sis has been walking with an iron deficiency unknowingly all this time 👀. But overall I really enjoy going through my natural hair journey. I learn a lot about myself by taking care of my hair because it encourages me to take care of the rest of my body.

I've been wanting to switch it up ... show my hair some more love by using masks n making Homemade masks.. and deep conditioners.. oils.. combs and butters .. and leave in conditioners... Because I don't have enough time and money to maintain my natural hair, I tend to wash my hair on Saturdays and I use coconut oil on m hair while it's still damp. So i have been natural since 2020 and this year is the year i have learnt and started properly taking cate of my hair. Stopped using heat and started washing my hair myself, at this point I'm still on my try and error phase and I am constantly learning my hair.
    My hair care routine
-I wash my hair twice a month( i think it's an improvement from washing my hair every week)
    - i prepoo using a mixture of Jamaican black caster oil, MPL and amla oil.
    - wash my hair with warm water using a shampoo then use conditioner.
-Detangle using a afro comb then wash of the conditioner.
-wjen my hair is dry ,then i hairfood. Do w protective hairstyle like flat twists and it stays like that until the next washday or until i do a new hairstly(like box braids)

My current hair routine includes washing and deep conditioning my hair also every two weeks (as it's more easier to manage that way also feel like my hair likes being left alone). For moisturizing I do the LCO method. Liquid= Water mixed with peppermint essential oil, lavender essential oil and bergamot oil.I use hair butter and then seal with oil (either castor oil, coconut oil or the growth oil from African pride. Then I do amatwist as protective style.
When I have braids - Every 2 days
I spritz my hair with the same liquid as mentioned above, then I apply castor oil (no cream as I believe it will lead to product build up). I wash my hair every 2 weeks still.
Yeah that's my routine... I also do DIY stuff like rice water once a month though.

At the beginning of this year i relaxed my hair, that's when i realised that its not for me so i transitioned back and cut off the relaxed hair. I wash my hair with shampoo twice a month and i use a LOC method. I deep condition twice a month and put it in protective style. Twist with my hair and wear wigs so that i can be able to wash my hair on Sundays. I think ill start with braids next year, i am slowly getting back to my old natural routine and ill be introducing protein treatments and oil treatments. I am relearning my hair all over again and i must say it exciting shem.

After battling with my hair for three years, I decided to start dreadlocks. I've had them for exactly a year now and I'm realising that they keep me grounded in more ways than one. My hair routine consists of washing my dreadlocks once a month and keep a hairstyle on for a month. My growth has been quite fair but I think I'm struggling to keep my hair moisturized and rich. I also struggle to keep the growth under control.
The hair products would help me figure out what works for my hair and how to actually maintain my dreads. This will also help me enjoy my hair and wear it with pride.

I'm still learning and discovering what works for my short natural hair.

So im also pretty much a natural hair advocate myself. I’ve had my fro since 2005 and just been btwn cutting and regrowing. I cut my hair again when I had my daughter 2 years ago and have kept it short for the longest time now, being 2 years. So I’m regrowing again and I’m washing once a week and basically doing the LOC method. Oil and water are my daily besties for this regrowth stage. I’m not at the deep conditioning phase as yet and I’d really LOVE to try these products to incorporate that to my wash days and regrowing journey. 🌸💕

I was also natural for some time, most of my adult life. Decided to experiment with relaxer late 2021 and had to cut my hair again by the end of the year... Maintained that for a few months but decided to grow it out through the winter. It's been low maintenance, but I've had some growth and now I am beginning to maintain it intentionally again. I still wash it once weekly, wet it almost daily and use combs sparingly. Learning to access the fro as it grows out my roots by reducing manipulation...

Then I deep condition using Afro botanic. Then I use oil on my scalp and cream from afro botanic and that's it. I use auntie jackie oil on my hairline since it promotes hair growth and I have seen it strengthen it.

Hey Yolz. After 4 years of having natural hair, I decided to relax and cut my hair. I’ve transitioned back to growing my natural hair. My current route is basically washing my hair twice a week. I have my hair in small knots and when washing, I spritz my hair with water, then do a hot oil and remain with it for about an hour. Then I wash my hair with a shampoo, then deep condition it. From there, I first apply the leave-conditioner, then oils and a milk and honey moisturiser.

I wash my hair every two weeks and I deep condition every wash day. One thing I have started doing is proper protein treatments and they have been a game changer!!! My scalp wants to be washed and left alone so I only put shampoo and nothing else on my scalp. To moisturize I use a leave in and a sealant, the LOC method doesn't work quite well for my fine, low porosity hair. It gets weighed down and product build up easily. I have bra strap length and I find that this routine is easy and works for me to grow and maintain my hair🙂

MY routine is very simple, I think. I wash my hair every two weeks. I start with a moisturising shampoo and follow up with a strengthening conditioner (this is where I start detangling my hair with my fingers). Thereafer, I use a moisturising conditioner and use a detangling bush to further detangle my hair. After rinsing it out , I use a towel to remove excess water and leave my hair to air dry. When my hair is almost completely dry, I moisturise it. I leave my hair in the shrunken state and refresh it with luke warm water during the week and moisturiser (if necessary). I don't comb or brush my hair ( I just use my fingers to shape it as desired) until the next wash day, unless I want to style it. 🤭 I trim my hair two times a year. I have not been using oil on my hair because I have not found an oil that works for me.

If I’m not in a protective style, I wash my hair every Sunday and deep condition on wash days. I then roll my hair in (yes, it’s 2022 and I still roll my hair in 😂) it really works for me. If I don’t my hair is dry & brittle. It’s a lot easier to manage when it’s stretched from the rollers.

My hair care routine has evolved as I learn. Two weeks I decided to give deep conditioning treatment a try and my hair felt so different. Side note, Creme of nature has such incredible products. I used their detangling conditioner and I loved it. Onto my hair routine: Every 2/3 weeks
    1. Depending on whether I am doing a hot oil treatment or (as of 2 weeks ago) deep conditioning, I would wet my hair in preparation for the product application (deep conditioner). If I am doing hot oil, I would apply it without wetting it. Before putting on the plastic, I would massage my hair to ensure the product applies evenly. I would keep the bag on for about 20-30 minutes.
    2. Rinse off the product, then apply shampoo (Selsun Blu or Sulfur8) wash off, then condiitoner and finish it off with cold water (I learnt that it helps closes the pores, nami angazi). Once all this is done, I let it air dry.
    3. Once almost done, I would apply my leave in conditoner and shea butter. Then protective style (wena bantu knots, wena benny & betty, wena maphondo), something simple before doing more long term protective styles in a day or so.
Hot olls: Coconut oil, tea tree oil, E.V olive oil, and fenugreek oil.
Deep conditioner (The ones I have tried so far and absolutely love): 1. Egg & Coconut oil and 2. Avocado, honey and olive oil (*chef's kiss*)
I am still learning so much about natural hair and ways to better take care of it, it is so much work, but I would not have it any other way. That's all!
