I'm pretty sure you punted almost every atraxa. You should be able to select a creature as well as an artifact creature. Multiple times you selected either an artifact or a creature.
Hey, it’s not like the button and all the card outlines are a cool, muted blue before you make all possible selections and turn bright, glowing orange after you’ve finished.
forgot the scrap with atraxia at the mid point. You can take an artifact and a creature. So many times. Even if you don't understand the card a blue glowy option means you can select it
Not even the worst... @45:18 Seth didn't take a Portal to Phyrexia because he just saw Cityscape Leveler with Portal and Mightstone and Weakstone as "all of our big artifacts." So he *only* took Cityscape Leveler. :(
I like this deck because it's almost a weird kinda budget if you've been on Arena for a while. It's like a trade-binder deck in that the one or two-of power cards might already be in your collection from random packs.
I built this deck and it is amazing. I have some really good matches under my belt and have found several strategies to win. Mill with Jace, copy a lot of the mirror breaker, beat them to death with creatures, and/or control the field and take their creatures with portal. I made some changes to the deck. I do not like Might Stone and Weak Stone in the deck. More times then not, as in your video, it seems like you are holding it. I switched that for a Nahiri. I feel like she brings more utility to the table, and she can bring back a Hellraiser from the yard to get another activation and damage.
I've been playing mono R Hellraiser with Portal and it is so fun. Even when you yank a free removal spell or Koth it still feels real nice. It is just feels good to play, like a slot machine that can kill your opponents, what's not to love? Keeps standard grinding from getting dull.
Played against a Hellraiser deck in explorer when the set first came out and it blew my mind! I think it's a pretty solid card. The fact you made it viable in a set with a significantly less card pool is impressive
I had to pause on the first game, because *come on, Seth*. Why did you pitch two lands when you could've pitched a land and The Eternal Wanderer? EDIT: I feel like building around using Capricious Hellraiser's ETB to cheat out big stuff is a bit of a trap (as awesome trap, but still a trap). A 4/4 flyer that recasts an Abrade/Big Score/Reflections for RRR is an absurd midrange card.
I think it might have a home in Modern or Historic, with Ephemerate. I know Modern decks can easily get 9 cards in the graveyard by turn 4. Then, you cast it for the discount with 9 cards in the yard. It exiles 3. Ephemerate it to exile 3 more. On the Rebound, it'll exile the final 3 cards from your graveyard.
This is certainly the most exciting way to play it, but yeah, it is probably better in a Grixis Shell or a Jund shell where its flinging removal spells and Unleash the Infernos / Invoke Despairs.
@@MTGGoldfish Yeah, it's weird to me that we've been so poisoned by FIRE designs that a 4/4 flyer for 6 that can pretty reliably cost 3 less AND draws/casts a spell from your graveyard seems mediocre at first glance.
The third win was really impressive, I really like the concept of that WG Norn deck, but its incremental value just could not keep up when you got Hellraisers.
Seth just so you can understand how it atraxa works going forward When you get Cityscape leveler and portal to pharexia you can grab them both As cityscape leveler can be your creature and portal feraxia can be your Artifact
Watching this from the future, could collecting evidence turn this into an actually good combo? Cheap hell raiser and then exile away the chaff at instant speed
56:03 Seth only draw 4 off Atraxa when he could have drawn 5. Scrapwork Mutt counts as a creature, so he could have drawn the Portal to Phyrexia too. Not sure if it's technically incorrect since Hellraiser cares about graveyard. either way, Arena shows you how many you can choose at the top of the screen
Not super familiar w/ the meta in any format much less standard, but i really enjoy Seth's videos. Wondering to what degree Seth's decks + gameplay influence the kinds of decks played

That card (Titans' Nest) is the only one I can find, and it's a "fixed" version of delve. Still can be made broken, but I don't think this would be a shell for it even if it was still in Standard.
Titans' Nest seems to work, in the sense that you can exile all the cards you don't want to hit from your graveyard and use the mana to pay the generic part of Hellraiser's cost. The mana is a bit rough, with UBG followed by RRR.
how does hellraiser work in paper, the random graveyard part seems to force you to shuffle your grave but this action alone feels weird to me, anyone else ?
I recommend using a random number generator or rolling a die. Shuffling it can technically be a rules violation if the remaining cards aren't returned in the right order. It probably doesn't matter in Standard, Pioneer, or Modern, but it is a bigger concern in older formats.
