I've watched quite a few different YT tutorial videos on a number of different topics. Kudos to you for clear, easy to follow instructions - both verbally and visually. I don't know if you have training in communication, teaching, instructional design, etc., but you did a fantastic job!
if you are a little advance user, make a ruby file and add an automator listerner that detects soon as it sees heic, it automatically converts to jpg, if i get about 40 likes this comment , i can make a video
Just come across you tutorial on converting, if you are after a quicker way select files as you did and right click there is then quick actions, select convert image - options here are jpeg or PNG. Hope this helps speed up peoples workflow - I have these actions setup on the right of my finder bar which also gives quick option to rotate or Create PDF
Ah, that's awesome! The day I get a new Mac I'll definitely do a tutorial on it. Unfortunately I'm on a 2013 Mac, stuck in the past without that option, only "Create PDF"
Very helpful thank you sm!! Only thing is that for my Mac, I’m very bad at tech and couldn’t figure out how to get to that photos area u started with and only knew how to start at downloads. If u guys have the same issue, just right click and press “show in finder” when ur in downloads and you’ll get to where he is!!
Wowwww !!! Thank you so much - i love iphone photography, and I've literally always used weird sketchy websites. I had like 100 images I converted in literally 45 seconds. Thank you so much - literally a life saver - amazing tutorial and tip and trick. The best!!!
Many thanks for this video! Almost certainly the most useful tutorial I've used. Now, I'm heading off to find out how to convert on my phone! Thanks again!
Hi, close but not working? I do all that. open with Preview, the app is open and running but will not open the program window and not showing the image. Is my OS too old? El Cap ver-10.11.6 is so is there a work around? Thanks
Not sure why my pictures are opening up one by one on separate windows not all together in a list like yours. Do you know how to have the pictures you selected open up all together in one window?
Thanks for the video... i followed your instructions, but when the conversion happened i wanted to shrink the quality of all the selected pics, but it only shrunk the first one and left the others large.. but did convert them to jpg's
Some strange App Preview. My default preview app opens just 1 photo in one window. Or your app preview is not default? Gosh, I feel so stupid 🤦♂ Second attempt to open the files I Preview was successful, like you show. WTF. In any case thx
OMG... I am so confused. I need to convert a bunch of photos forwarded to my computer to Jpeg and I also want to take the photos from my Iphone AND Ipad in Jpeg so I don't have to do this conversion again. Is that possible?
OK, I changed the settings away from the HEIC on my phone and Ipad. So that's done. I am struggling with the photos file. Mine look nothing like yours. I don't see those little icons at the top or anything just my pics in folders.
So what I did was, I highlighted some photos and then clicked Export and followed the directions and put the new pics in a folder on my desktop. It was the only way I could figure out how to do it.
Same. I assume our versions of Mac OS are older and don't support HEIC. Would've been nice to have gotten a reference as to which which versions and up support this.
@@pixelandbracket I''ve read that native support for HEIC is only present in High Sierra onwards. In El Capitan, I can 'open with', but preview just starts up with no file showing. I'm resorting to converting the files on my phone in small batches, and turning off HEIF formatting for future photos and videos.
I see, so your computer can’t go past El Capitan? Looks like mine was able to make it to Catalina, 10.15. I haven’t been able to update it for years now

Life saver! So annoying that they default as heic in the first place... Thank you!
Right clicking doesn’t do anything on my mac. Smh
Doesn't open in preview.
Same. I assume our versions of Mac OS are older and don't support HEIC. Would've been nice to have gotten a reference as to which which versions and up support this.
This tutorial is on a 2013 iMac, I’m several generations behind OS-wise. You’re sure you can’t right click and “open with”
