- During this fire alarm system test, a real fire just happened to break out right before the pull station was pulled! I guess that's why we have fire alarm systems! All jokes aside, in an uncontrolled environment fire can become deadly very quickly. Never play with fire, and certainly do not test a fire alarm system with real fire. Thank you for watching!

I don't like alarmed stoppers. I get wanting to reduce tampering, but the horn is an anti-feature in that it confuses people in an actual emergency into not properly activating the alarm. If you have to stop and explain to people that you have to still activate the alarm, it's probably a bad idea. A silent stopper offers a good middle ground, making it harder to accidentally activate it and adding an obstacle to false alarming.

A better idea would be that when the cover is lifted a recording starts that will allow you to identify the puller in case of a false alarm.
@@StuffyUA-cam I think by that point having a two stage system would be ideal. Institutional type system, where anybody can activate a prealarm that gets staff intervention, but doesn't sound a general alarm unless a staff member activates it with a restricted access station or a key switch, or a timeout delay is exceeded (fallback in case no staff is present)

There is text on it that reads "in case of fire - lift cover pull fire alarm" for a reason
in my school that fire alarm stopper really helps because we just played dodgeball yesterday and a dodgeball hit the case REALLY HARD and left a crack in it
Did the STI stopper have to be replaced when the dodgeball hit it very hard I don't know if they have to replace if they're damaged by hard objects?

@S.E.R. Safety Once when I was younger I was in a heavy sprinkled and very safe shop and I was walking around where I found a Map and I figured it out that it was the Fire safety Structure Map and the engineer said I could keep it so I put it up In my wall next to my collection!

The stopper went off at my school and we actually had that reaction to it of looking at the person

Just today, when I finished the walk to my last class, I saw a Simplex pull station
My high school installed pull station covers on all pull stations some point after I graduated due to issues of false alarms.

That was awesome SER Safety. The Walk Test feature that's built-in into the Kidde FX-64 is awesome and can be useful for going to a pull station and activating it without having to go back to the control panel and silencing the alarm. A lot of pranksters who open the stopper thinks that the stopper alarm is the actual fire alarm. This is both good and bad. Good because it deters pranksters but bad if there is a fire and someone opens the stopper without pulling the alarm because they think the stoppers alarm is the fire alarm

I love your content, I have actually have undertaken fire extingushire training, i've had to use it a couple of times on actual fires. One time i was doing a bonfire and i burnt myself on a peice of wood that was not on the fire so i moved it on, because I diddn't want it going out of control with me not being there as i know how quickly fires can go out of control i immediatly pulled the fire extingushire snd extinguished the fire then i went to treat the burn.
I actually have fire extingushires in my home just encase a fire should break out and optical smoke alarms and a Ionisation one in my bedroom

I've seen the trim plates on est genesis that were installed in replacement for older horn strobes and even bells. As older devices are bigger than newer devices

I noticed years ago, in school, I saw a "EXIT" sign flashing as the fire alarm was active. Then it stop flashing when the alarm was deactivated.

So the safety measure alarm is to stop anyone pulling the alarm on purpise
