    The middle school I went to has the vintage glass covered pull stations. They are connected to simplex 2901-9840’s with single projector covers and in the class rooms (middle school side) they have simplex 624-940’s. The portables (on the elementary side) have Wheelock AS/MT’s and the middle school portables has Wheelock 34T’s. The middle school system is on continuous and the elementary is on Temporal (code 3)

    Our school has the 2099-9103 at each end of the hallway, by each door, outside of each staircase, you get the idea. It was built in 2002, but an extension to the school was added. In most of the classrooms, they don’t have the speaker strobes, the have strobes only, except for hallways (they use the simplex TrueAlert) in the extended section, however, they have horn strobes in those classrooms. That extended section is also the only part of the building with sprinklers, as the extension was built in the very late 2000s/very early 2010s, therefore not giving them an exemption from fire sprinklers for that portion. But they never replace the glass. And sometimes they leave the broken glass on the floor for a straight up month.

    I've seen quite a few Simplex 4251-30 break-glass pulls with the newer glass pane like that on actual alarm systems, usually at least one of them would be like that in such a system (I think one of the 4251-30s at my first elementary school has replacement glass in it like that.) I remember the school I got a bunch of Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights from five years ago had nearly half of its' 4251-30 pulls have replacement glass like that in them!

      @@ajsmusic723 Interesting. Generally with the 4251 break-glass pulls they were designed so the frame flips downward when the glass is smashed. It was a pretty ingenious design, enabling the lever to be pulled without the hammer or broken glass shards in the way.

      @ZakWolf 2 роки тому

      @erni1300, sometimes it depends on the situation. But indeed, I very rarely see break-glass pulls in new installs nowadays; usually the Simplex district in my area only installs them to replace older Simplex 4251-style break-glass pulls that had failed, like in early 2009 at my first elementary school, where two of the 4251-30 pulls that were found inoperable were replaced with Simplex 2099-9103s.

    If you’re going to run any newer Simplex devices (4903 horn strobes,4901 electronic horns,newer 4904s, and any TrueAlerts) get a filtered power supply first. FWR can kill newer simplex devices. Just be careful with FWR.

    The horn on the 9219 sounds cool and all, but the strobe on it will get fried because it’s being ran on FWR power, which is why the horn sounds a bit raspy. Just be careful when running Simplex 4903s on FWR, it can potentially kill the devices when it’s being ran for too long.
