As a conservative teen who plays Super Smash Bros. (somtimes) competitively, this was hilarious and amusing to watch 🤣♥️! You should have Matt react to Kpop, that's another big popular genre of music in Gen Z that I would like to watch him critique. I enjoy the music myself, but there are some things or some of the songs I don't agree with. Anyway, great video! :D
Same here I love Smash Bros! (Nintendo is about all I was allowed to play when I was little and now I love it) Out of curiosity though who's your main?
@HarukaKurosawa It’s so satisfying to hit with certain moves like his down smash (which my siblings have now dubbed the "Toe Crusher"), foward air, up air, up smash etc. His slow movement doesn't even bother me (besides not being accurate to the character in canon.)
Everyone knows the proper way to play smash bros is to turn off all items (the only acceptable one is the final smash ball), use TWO joycons per person so you can actually fight well, put the time on unlimited, set it to a 3 stock battle, set the stage to final destination, and get rid of CPUs. Only THEN can the true skills of a gamer be put to the test in smash bros.
This was too great. Watching them play games is fun. Especially when Klavan played Elden Ring. But man watching them fight against each other is the best! 😂
This was literally the worst possible setup for Matt and Ben (Take this with a grain of salt, the video may have been intended to be chaotic, IDK) 1. Anyone that has played this game knows that it is borderline unplayable with a single Joycon 2. They were playing Timed. Both Stock or Stamina battles would've been far easier to understand for beginning players, due to the fact of there being a clear winner after every match, and also being able to keep track of how many times you were knocked out 3. The full cast of characters wasn't available to choose from. While this may not be a huge deal, I still think it was a disservice to not include all the unlockable fighters because of the fact that both Ben and Matt may have found a character they would've liked to have played with rather than the ones that they chose. 4. The stages and items probably added way too much chaos to the game for Matt and Ben's personal liking. Something more akin to a tournament style ruleset would likely be better received TLDR: Producers set them up for failure, I'd like to see this done again (If Ben and Matt are willing) so they could actually enjoy the game
Hey just curious, is that controller called a Joycon? Why is so bad? Looks to have the basic buttons no? Also, what's that % they had? Was that the health?
@@createdbeing302 TLDR: A single Joycon CAN do everything in Super Smash Bros. it has all the buttons needed, it's just highly inconvenient, uncomfortable, and not fun. The percentage correlates to knockback strength, not health. Yes, the controllers they were using are called Joycons. The Nintendo Switch, (Which is the console they were playing on) comes with two of them, and while playing with both connected together they have essentially the same button layout as a traditional controller. However, using a single Joycon, is much more difficult. A switch "Pro Controller" (Nintendo's name for their traditional style controller) is much more comfortable and has a second joystick with mappable buttons in the game settings, making it a more beginner friendly option IMO. In Super smash bros., most attack inputs require that the joystick to be pointed in a certain direction while pressing the attack or special attack button, that's how attacks can come out in different directions. But being that it is also the movement control, it can be very difficult to walk where you want while attacking where you want, an issue mostly remedied with the "Pro Controller". As for the percentage, it represents the amount of knockback a character receives. For example, if a character is at 150%, they will be launched much harder and farther after an attack hits, than if they were at 50%, making it much harder to prevent yourself from dying to the blast zone (The invisible killbox off of the edges of the screen). Weight is also a factor, Donkey Kong for example is a much heavier character than Sonic, meaning it takes more force to send him into the blast zone, which means that he typically can accumulate more damage without dying than a lighter character such as Sonic. Hopefully I explained it well and I hope this helps 👍
@@hawk3104 Oh I see, thanks for the detailed response, very helpful! Yeah those Joycons did look a little too small and uncomfortable as opposed to the typical gaming console.

Also I understand the switch pro controller argument (despite the fact we didn't see them adjust button layout as per usual with most smash players with the in-game settings). Using joycons with smash bros is as Wii Wheel as it gets, I know.
@@DuncanWilliamsOFFICIALYes but playing on one joycon sucks especially for players who don’t even know how to play the game.
Y'all should redo this like real men: 7:00 minute rounds, 3 stocks a piece, no items, actual gamecube/pro controllers. We'll be waiting
The single joycon is just painful. Bet they have those cursed default jump settings
The fact that Ben can't seem to figure out how to play the game makes me so happy cus neither can I.
Wow.
Teaching my mom how to play Smash bros last year is one of my fondest gaming memories.
"critical video game theory" got me cackling like Kamala
We need a new series where Matt interviews people while playing smash bros
Best part of this video was the deliberation at the end
They’re so clueless lmao
Just waiting for Matt Walsh to watch Death Note like he promised.
when did he promise? lmao
@@lowserver2 someone during a panel asked him to finally watch an anime. Matt Walsh thinks anime is stupid and for children. During the panel, the comment section overwhelmingly said that he should watch death note as his “first” anime experience. For a guy like Matt I know he would enjoy it
He ended up watching One Punch Man@@Marth70
@@Marth70he watched one punch man because of that panel.
Two smart men who can't figure out a child's toy.
Little did Ben know that PAC-Man is one of the most terrifying characters
Matt's double taunt into push off kill on Ben at 936 has me dying lmao
This needs to be a regular thing for DW crew , a monthly Smash Bros tournament, and it decides the hierarchy at company 😅😂😂😂
I don’t genuinely laugh at most things but this had me in tears in the first 3 minutes.
Whoever made them play with the teeny little Joy-Cons sideways is cruel
I'M SO ANGRY MAKENNA DOESN'T KNOW HOW THE DAMAGE PERCENTAGE WORKS!! RARRRR! Did I help? Also...can I play? I haven't gotten to play Smash Bros with...anyone...in over a decade. I miss it.
They didn't have anyone on set who actually had a decent idea of how the game works? They should do this again but with someone properly explaining the rules of the game and giving them some sort of idea for the controls. Give them real controllers too and use flat neutral stages.
Matt and Ben playing Ultimate made my day, truly! I bet Ben's wife would main Doctor Mario.
Edit: Honestly they should have gotten Michael, Andrew and Brett in on this as well. Ultimate can handle up to 8 players at a time. Later on in the video, Ben talks about how he might wanna play Super Mario Getting the DW hosts together to play Super Mario Wonder (4 player game) would be awesome.
Ben’s wife maining Doctor Mario would be hilarious.
My main was Dr. Mario in Melee. I won a small tournament at the ESPN skatepark outside of Atlanta, GA one time. All I won was a multi cd case with a GameCube logo on it. I wasn’t a fan of the ones that came out after Melee.
@@spaomalley I haven’t played the N64 one, and it’s been a long time since I’ve played Melee, which I only played like once, but I actually think that the Super Slash Bros series got better as it went on. Sakurai knows how to make a good game, and he kept adding more and more content while both refining and keeping the simple gameplay.
@@spaomalley fair enough, and congratulations on your win!
I totally get where you're coming from. My girlfriend grew up with Smash 4 and didn't like the changes they made with Smash 5. I on the other hand grew up with 5 and thus am more used to its fast-paced gameplay.
Ben is a tool. Matt is way better.
the exchange at 8:29 was hilarious lol, best part. They're both like "nah f this"
I never expected Ben to main Donkey Kong, and yet it makes perfect sense.

God bless you, editors, for the most niche Sonic fandom reference probably ever
That channel is kinda cringe, but god I love that Sonic 06 dub 😂
Heck yeaaaahhhh!!!! I thought I was the only one who noticed😂
I kick my kids butts every time I play them at an arcade. They ask how I do it. I said, "Just get really fast at hitting random buttons. Just hit them all as fast as you can." I block them out when they tell me what button does what. 😂
You need to work on reading comprehension. Read the comment you replied to and realize your entire reply was based on you misunderstanding what the guy wrote lXD
@@LVL99Totodile I was gonna say pretty much the same thing but then my internet had a stroke lol
-Not explaining the objective of the game or the controls
-Having them use single Joy-Cons
-Bad stages
Man, Matt and Ben were done dirty LOL
Sorry Matt, Ben won. It's his truth.
"Ignorance of the law is no excuse" Love Ben's inner lawyer coming out.
They might actually be capable of playing Mario Kart, but they clearly were given no preface to Smash Bros.
It could be decently competitive if they did Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with steering assist on. Could even leave auto accelerate on.
Matt:I want to know the Facts
Ben: FINALLY!!!
Why do I get the same Vibe here as I got from the Steve Buscemi "Hello fellow kids" character
When Ben bombarded Matt with random questions to freeze his brain.
Considering this game came out almost SIX YEARS ago, this was NOT on my bingo card.
Appreciate everyone in the comments for not mentioning a certain beef.
11:15 More specifically, the higher you are damaged, the more knockback you take from damage, flying farther with each attack.
Thanks!
"Who's Kappoo?" Haha.
Two of my favorite things meet: Smash bros, and Daily wire. Truly wonderful!
My bros, if you asked me, I would send you two of my very own gamecube controllers and the adaptor for them so you could play this the way god intended lol
Dam these guys are like OLD grandads trying to figure out how to play their kid's game system.
Those tiny controllers haha. It makes y’all look like you have T-Rex arms 😂
I'll challenge Walsh to a dignified yet intense game of Go Fish!!
I've been honing my skills on my 9yr old daughter and I feel ready to take this on 😂
You if politics wasn’t such a shitstorm, we could’ve have more of this 😂
Now this is EVO Grand Finals for Smash Bros. Ultimate.
MKLeo vs Samsora type video right here
They also play with items forced turned on.
😂 That was FANTASTIC 😂 This is what I look like when my son asks me to play 😂
I think Ben and Candace should play this game.....😂😂😂😂
I know they never played before, but we'll never know their true power until they play with GameCube controllers.
(Nintendo is about all I was allowed to play when I was little and now I love it)
Out of curiosity though who's your main?
@@RaychAgent4EVa Yep, it's enjoyable depending on who you play with! I main: Palutena, MinMin, (Male) Byleth, and Corrin. Who do you main?
@HarukaKurosawa M Byeth is my main too. The funnest character in the game.
@@dhisufiroafrozenseraphimdragon That's awesome, he really is a great character to use :D!
It was so much fun to watch! Please make more of these 😂
This was literally the worst possible setup for Matt and Ben (Take this with a grain of salt, the video may have been intended to be chaotic, IDK)
1. Anyone that has played this game knows that it is borderline unplayable with a single Joycon
2. They were playing Timed. Both Stock or Stamina battles would've been far easier to understand for beginning players, due to the fact of there being a clear winner after every match, and also being able to keep track of how many times you were knocked out
Something more akin to a tournament style ruleset would likely be better received
TLDR: Producers set them up for failure, I'd like to see this done again (If Ben and Matt are willing) so they could actually enjoy the game
For a couple of really smart guys they sure have a hard time figuring out a game that my 7 year old can handle.
WHY THE HELL ARE Y'ALL USING SINGLE JOYCONS?!
3:38 the fact that the editor put the sonic “haha ha one!” In the background is such a deep cut for the terminally online
