    Thank you for watching this video! I would like to encourage you to check out the hsbStickFrame Toolset for Revit. You can get exclusive access here: www.hsbcad.com/revit-campaign
    This video shows how wood framing can be tedious and making changes is a nightmare. So if you are working on projects that require this type of work, I would suggest giving hsbStickFrame a try because it automates this complex and long process.

    That's an incredible amount of work to show the studs. Only worth if you actually need to show them. Small correction, in a typical wood framed wall the interior would be gypsum board, and plywood is considered structural, not finish. Thank you for the video Sir.

    I’ve done this on a recent small but complicated house that needed precise steel and wood connections. Two suggestions: 1) make a framing work set that can easily turn in and off in views. 2) Create filters to color code: for example, if PT (pressure treated) is in the name, the framing member shows up as green. If ENG (engineered lumber), a different color.

    Is there a way of doing light gauge steel in the same way?

    Curious to see your approach for roof framing and the junction to the wall head - that's generally the harder system to frame out. My preferred approach, whilst not category compliant, is to use curtain roof and wall systems with mullions as the members versus structural framing. I find framing much too difficult once you get to the roof zone.

    • @balkanarchitect
      @balkanarchitect  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, the curtain wall approach it good, I find it too constraining in some case, but the benefit is that it's much faster to implement.

    Hi, is it possible to export wood frame models where each stud is a separate fbx file? If so, is there a resource where I can download some samples of what this might look like? Thank you.

    I just finished a project, using curtain walls mullions for wall studs, and beam systems for rafters and ceiling joists. I was thinking about modeling the studs with beam systems, but i need to check this out. The bill of materials was kinda challenging after that.

    my beams have appeared on the wrong side of the reference plane in plan, how do i correct offset, thanks?

    • @EvanDrinkwater
      @EvanDrinkwater 2 роки тому +1

      You need to set which level you’re beams are on. In the properties window there is a top and bottom position for beams. You can also create for example a first floor framing plan, set the level on the ribbon under the structure tab. Ensure you select the correct level, if the beam doesn’t show its sometimes a case of the cut level, beam being either top or bottom or the levels are not set up correctly.
      I’m not on my desktop so I’m doing this off memory, but I do structural drafting hence why this type of plan view is more known to myself.

    Great video! If an architect with a working knowledge of wood frame construction took the time to do this it could save the structural engineer quite a bit of work!
    I'd be curious to know if there was any way to automatically capture the length of the framing members and export them to a schedule. Could be quite useful in generating cut lists and material take offs.
