I use a reference plane because coping is often unreliable and it relies on an element, that may be deleted or moved in a way that it breaks the coping. Editing an element that is connected to other elements is usually a pain in revit, so reference plane is more flexible.
I have a question regarding the material of the structual beams. It seems to me that you can only change the material of the individual beam in the properties panel but not the material o all the beams of the same family on the proyect, like you could do with a wall. Is there a way to do this?
By default, structural framing material is usually an instance parameter. Meaning, you will have to select all of the beam and apply a material to them. If you want, you can open the structural beam family and change the material parameter to a "type" depending on your needs.
I know this is a bit off-topic, but I have been trying to find a way to create a thatched roof and make it look good. I cant find a tutorial anywhere! Any ideas?

Hi there Is there a way to use a google 3d background image and place lighting on the site and then render in 3D? i would love to use this for clients when we look at lighting for their buildings to show what it would look like before they buy
Man I have watched several videos on your channel, not a big fun of any of you guys here as none of you tells the full story, but definitely helpful somehow, however, in this particular case I strongly believe you messed up. I haven't paid to watch your video, but my view made you money. You are not Jesus bro, we know that, Money first.
@@ingabbateantonio in this case I am truly interested in your method for cutting a rafter at the ridge beam. I’m all about transparency and sharing with others… if I find a newer better way to do something than an older video of mine i own up to it and make a new videos. this would be a great example to share another, better, way. Right in time! I'm finishing my graduation project and this trick will help me a lot. Thank you.
I followed your blog, and now it's cool that you have a channel. So good. Thank you

Thank you, finally getting around to working with structure in Revit and this we most helpful.
Thank you man, for your tutorial. I was just looking for it.
Cheers!
Quality video. Exactly what I was looking for. Love it. Many thanks.
Cheers man! Glad you enjoyed!
you are simply awesome, thank you
No, no. YOU are awesome! ;)
Das war sehr toll 🙏🙏🙏
very nice trick. thank you for your sharing
Cheers!
Would enjoy seeing the modifying the beam family technique mentioned as well.
Amazing trick
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed!
Align the ref.plane to the beam and lock it to the beam. Works for me🤓
thank you
You're welcome
Wow!
Cheers!
how can i do that in a round circular roof with supports and rafters. the angle of the slope is 30 degrees, but i cant seem to get it right. thanks

Thank you, I'm a student and want to drawing wood framng as you but I don't have any framing lumber bim, 2*4,6,8,10,12 etc. How to get that library?
It is built into the Revit install. (Insert > Load Family > Structural) I also modified some of them as needed!
No FUCKING MOTHERFUCKIJG WAY YOU CSN CUT USING REFERENCE PLANES? THAT JUST CHANGED MY ENTIRE LIFE OMG

Hmm... Do you want it to look good in a shaded view or rendered? Big difference on the approach to either.
@@TheRevitKid just shaded would be ok.

Hi bro,why in my BOM that I extracted to excel the total of length is not accurate?after i check it shown length from the centre line, what i miss it?
Check the extension location (the blue dot)
@@TheRevitKid blue dot is on center line, but i need keep as it is,because it will be use for SACS calculation
@@galvanes9500 My guess is it is calculating total length to the blue dot... just a guess.
When you select beam support for the beam system, it doesnt work, the beam you select is not "selectable"
я не понял, тот дятел с форума не мог найти кнопку cut?
horrible solution
