This video is crucial to working with families! Thank you, Nick! The first time I watched the video it wasn't very clear, because I used "Tab" when aligning and picked a Weak Reference line so it behaved as Strong Reference (stretched). Now few months passed and I've just got a difference between RP, it's the order of references without using "Tab".🤯
Thanks Nick for still tremendous pure Rvt guides. Small note: since BIM pure pamphlet came out PDF file size got ~3 times bigger...which the first blue page alone is 3meg size. Previous RevitPure pamphlets were at nimble size. Thought you might know.....Cheers for the dedications !
I attempted to use the strong and weak reference lines (2.20), but it didn’t work. The family behaved as if the reference was set to weak. I also tried aligning the family by using the reference lines to which to the geometry was aligned to, but the geometry acted as if it was set to strong, even when it was set to weak.
Thank you! Been working in Revit for 5 years but always confused about weak and strong reference! But still have question. When editing family RP within family editor how when I have 2 RP, sometimes is moving one RP and another remains at the same position but I need viceversa ???🙄
OMG, I GOT IT. I read Pamphlet #32 about Reference Planes form BIM pure, where in #8 is explained that REFERENCE PLANES HAVE A DIRECTION! Reference planes have a “front face” and a “back face”. This affects on the orientation of geometry assigned to the plane.🤦♂
Thank you Nick. I have been working with REVIT for over 17 years now, but still I learn things from your pamphlets and videos.
+1
Only 15 years
For 20 years I've had no idea what the difference between strong and weak reference planes are until now 😂. Thanks nick.
Never paid attention to difference between weak & strong reference planes. Thanks for the tips!
Happy to help!

Great point, we'll look into how we can reduce the file size.
Thank you. Tutorial made strong reference to align new tricks to experience.
prefect and professional explanation
Thank you Nick, I have learned a lot of things from you
thanks for tuto
thats make me really understood for reference plane
I am revit 2016 user there are no coloring reference planes featurr
Very useful content! Thank you
Good Video , I Trry to Make Dimension Measure The Height of an Electrical Distribution panel From The Top Not From The Center , What Should I Do?

Hi. Send a link with a family doing this ...

that's right!
