In my short experience playing 100 sq inch rackets: Diadem Nova FS 100, Pro Kennex Ki5 295 (2022), Tecnifibre TF-X1 300, Pro Kennex Black Ace 300, Prince Vortex 300 and Head Speed MP, the Speed MP is by miles the best of these. + Best sounding racket with Head Lynx Tour at 22kg + Excellent 2-handed backhands + Not stiff, which is always welcome + Great ball pocketing - Backhand slices need some adjustments - I don't like the grommet's slot extending so low towards the throat area. This could bother some people on the 1-handed backhand, especially people like me that grab the racket's throat quite high
Thank you for your thorough reviews and help. I am getting mixed messages from a number of people. I'm a 3.8-4.0 senior singles player: One- handed backhand, moderate racquet head speed, good touch and slice, mostly flat, some TS..Some say I should go with the Pro because I hit flat. However, others say that the Pro is too advanced for my level, and I should go with the MP... Your insight/ recommendation would be greatly appreciated!
Hello! Thank you! I would say definitely go for the Pro if a 310 gram static weight is not to heavy. The MP will not be able to control your flatter shots nearly as well and consistent. If you are not used to the weight just take some time to adjust, should be fine
The Speed MP has the best feeling on the 2-handed backhand. Needs some weight overall though. Nothing great on the backhand slice. On the forehand, I can hit flat safely despite the seemingly open string pattern. I think it's a great racket for playing long rallies.
Good video but for the feel, power, etc., I believe would have been good to mention what tension you were using on each racket as that can change the feel quite a bit.. Nice footage at the end, you have a nice motion for the back hand and forehand congrats!..
Yes, that is right. I felt much more confident and comfortable hitting it. Too much power in a racquet doesn’t fit me so the Pro was a pleasant hit for sure
Greetings, I enjoy your reviews… I’m a senior , 4.0 player who can hit topspin with my forehand, but mostly flat and slice with my one- handed backhand. I have soft hands and good touch for drop shots…. I have played very well with the Pure Strike project one 18x 20 , but I’m looking for something more arm friendly. Given my level and hitting preferences, which 2022 Speed model would you recommend for me? Thanks, John
Hey! Thank you! I would definitely go for the Speed Pro, more control and better suited for a flatter trajectory. The MP will likely be too lively and the ball will fly too much. Pro is the way to go if you want a Speed racquet for sure
Hi, do you think the new prestige mp 2023 could be better than the speed to play doubles in terms of stability and power in a senior level over 50y.?. Thanks
Speed MP has more power and is less predictable. I would say in the MP the string bed is slightly more lively and in some cases more inconsistent. But is also a bit more forgiving because of the head size. In conclusion the the Speed is more of a tweezer style racquet and the Extreme Tour a more advanced frame with some pop to it.
Hi, great review video. I’ve been really enjoy using speed line for my tennis….but is it okay to use speed pro & mp at the same time/for rotation play? Like when you want a bit more power and spin use mp version and if yout want more control use por version
Hi! Thank you! I would always recommend holding on to one racquet, make a choice and stick to it. Mixing up with different frames will always slow up development in your game and will change your technique for the worse since your brain will get confused. Try to find the best if both worlds where you can maybe just have two different string tensions to unleash more power or whatever you like.
Hey man, nice review and like the way you explain where each racquets sits in between other models. I am coming from Wilson ultra pro V2 (97 sq inches 18x20), one handed back hand and hit pretty flat on all the shots, most of my unforced errors are to the net than going deep or wide. I have demoed a few and shortlisted Head Speed pro (Auxetic) and Head Extreme Tour (Auxetic, available for demo). Extreme tour helps with the readily available spin it offers. I like extreme tour for its small head size and directional control , but it is too light and a bit underpowered. I like the stability and put away power the speed pro offers, but is a bit clunky, especially on the one handed back hand. comparing the string spacing, they are very close, 16x19 on a 98 vs 18x20 on a 100 sq inches. The question I have is if I add weight to extreme tour to bring it up to head speed pros specs, will I be able to achieve best of both? Does adding a lead weight plays same as the unaltered graphene/graphite weight that comes as is with the model ? If you haven't tried the Extreme Tour Auxetic yet, pls provide your feedback on the prior version extreme tour for the question. Thank You.
Hi! I hope I can make up your mind somewhat. From your current frame (Ultra Pro) you should get more power and forgiveness with the Extreme Tour. I guess the fact that the Extreme Tour is lighter it can come across as more than wobbly and doesn’t offer the same plow through as you might be looking for. From my hitting with with the Extreme is really does help with just adding a little bit of weight at 12, of course you can add more if you want a higher static weight. It does make a change for the better in my opinion then or course I can’t be certain it’s a perfect match for you. Worth a try :)
@@Tennisrally_ Thank you for the feedback. I am considering trying the tour with some added weight and see how it goes. I tried Technifibre TF40 range, good racquets, but the grip shape is a big NO for me. Even if I end up with Head extreme tour, I am considering taking the smallest grip size (size 1) and use square pallets and build up the size to between 2 & 3 to feel like wilson grip shape. Wilson grip shape feels so natural, unfortunately their model range is so limited. Is there any model in wilson that plays close to a speed pro or extreme tour ? Used blade 16 x 19 for sometime, didn't like it. Thank you.
Of course you should go for the option that feels most comfortable and natural. I would say the blade 16x19 is the closest but if it doesn’t feel right there’s not much to do. Just be careful when building up the grip is it doesn’t get too round and the bevels disappear.
hey, also noticed depth on shots from Pro(Blue grip) is less compared to MP. Shots from MP were deep and heavy. Is it difficult to generate heavy balls from PRO?
The pro is definitely going to need more effort put into every shot since it is more advanced/difficult. When I played I didn’t really feel like I got less depth but maybe that’s the case. The MP will give more spin and launch so maybe that is why the ball appears heavier
Racquets in that category are typically more powerful but I reckon a Head Gravity MP is more controlled. Try to look for a thinner frame and lower stiffness if you want more control
How do you compare speed mp to radical mp? I find radical a bit stiff when I’m tired, but I like it’s power and control in general. Speed mp has a lower stiffness rating, but it’s a 100 square inch and the string pattern is more open than the radical, right? So if speed mp is more like a pure drive, i.e. not very controllable, then I probably wouldn’t bother to try. Also, what string and tension do you use on the radical? Any tips to make is softer? Does speed mp feel softer than radical mp?
Hi! The two racquets are different indeed. What you are saying is very true. The Speed is for forgiving in terms of stiffness and will offer a bit softer feel (because of RA, head size etc.). It is a tweener style frame very much like a Pure Drive, but it is more controlled (less power). I use Head Lynx Tour in my Radical's at 24/23kg (53/51lbs), not at all a soft layup but I like it. To make it softer you can hybrid almost any poly with a multifilament or even a softer polyester string. I used to go Head Lynx Tour in the mains and Head Sonic Pro in crosses to balance it.
Hi, thanks for the video. Can I ask, in terms of spin potential and balance between power & control, which one is the closest to the Pure Aero VS? Thank you very much.
Haven’t tried the Vcore Pro unfortunately so I can’t give you more info then the specifications. The only thing I can say for sure is that the Yonex has a bigger sweetspot because of its isometric head shape
Hi man...do you think this version is better than the previous graphene 360+? How much better? Cause the price is veeeery different between a used graphene and a new auxetic...do you think I should go for the new one or buy a used graphene 360+? Thanks man! Great videos!
Hi! For me the Auxetic is a clear improvement. I wasn’t a fan of the 360+ but the Auxetic I really enjoyed a lot and played great tennis with. It all comes down to feel and personal preference because I believe it plays equal but feels different. Felt like the Auxetic wasn’t as muted which made me stay connected more
Yes I use the newest Radical MP. I have it weighed up to match the old Radical Pro specs more. It has 310 gram unstrung weight and 32 cm balance. Swingweight I don’t know but a tad higher then in stock form (Lead is mostly placed high up underneath the grip). Check out my what’s in the bag video for more info about my gear.
Currently im using head Gtour 2019 and after sometime im struggling with the weight...do you think speed pro would be more demanding than Gtour or it would be slightly easier?
If you want you can go all the way, best racquet for comfort would be the Wilson Clash. The one thing that may bother is the fact that it’s a completely different feel at contact. Even the Extreme line from Head would be a better option for arm pain due to lower stiffness. Maybe take a look at what you currently string your racquet with as well

Yes I would say so. The pattern is very spread out over the hitting face so it is not as tight as in other racquets. And it does have more access to power which enables the user to hit with more spin and still get the desirable power
