    I just bought speed pro and played first time. It was soooo good. Thank u for your review. Everything was same as u said. Good control, good spin for 18×20, enough power for defensive shots. Thank u very much 🙏🏻❤. If anyone has any question i can answer. My old rackets were blade 18x20 v6 and pure aero, also i demoed pro staff v12 CV and blade v7 16x19.

    I am a 4.0/4.5 player and own both racquets and hit with very little topspin. The S is very accurate and powerful. The MP is accurate and not quite as powerful. But, keep in mind the differences are slight. The S the best all around and the MP is little better to serve with.

    I switched to the MP this march and love it, but I have to agree with you about the grip! With my old Babolat, I could always 100% feel where my hand is placed on the racket. With the Speed MP, I feel like the bezels are a bit less pronounced, so the handle just feels a bit more round to me. Didn't know that changing it to a leather grip helps!

      @@maximozernotti655 hi man, I think that mine is PS 100 (only 100g) and it is different from yours. My first thought is that the strings should be considered? With PS 100 (16x19), I used LXL alu power at 24/23. When switching to Head Speed pro (18x20), I started Head sonic pro (much stiffer) at the same 24/23 and my elbow was hurt.

    I use the Speed Mp 315 from mid 2000's, I have recently improved my game to a point were I was needing more stability in the frame. Currently up to circa 330g unstrung with overgrip(s) and at 8/9points HL. I love it, all round improvement in my game but you can't be lazy! My unaltered twin stick feels like you're waving a straw if I swap the only thing that gets worse is my first serve speed mainly due to my leg mechanics not supporting my! Funnily as I write this you mention exactly what I did lol weight at 3/9 and in the handle" Great vids dude :) I also string at 59/60lbs using 130 polys to counter power

    Very insightful video Karue! I have the 360+ Speed Pro. Very nice plush feeling racquet and excels a lot at net for me! However, when the strings are fresh (I use Luxilon Element) there is adequate power, but when they start to deaden, the sweetspot shrinks and I struggle with depth and power. I don’t have this issue with the Gravity racquet I have been using, but it is quite heavy and demanding. The Speed MP sounds quite interesting in my case, as I do need a bit of help from the racquet and it is quite light in stock form.

    Thanks for the review. Very helpful! I just demo’d the speed mp 2022, the grip definitely felt cushiony and soft. Not a feeling I’m used to.
    As for the mp version, I feel like it adds more height and push to the ball. My shots got more deep and tend to float off the baseline. Needs adjustment. Normally I play with the prestige. Can’t get the same feel on the mp as the prestige. Probably because of the string pattern? (Prestige is 18x19)
    Trying out the speed pro tomorrow. Will let you know!

    I demoed the Speed Pro! Wow! My baseline shots were so good! I kept on asking if they were in! They were in! Deep and hard with enough spin to bring them in! I am small and not strong though and I'm told the Pro would be too heavy for me? I'd be interested to try the MP! I also tried the Radical MP and that was a great racket but quite tricky to tune into easily, it has a small sweet spot.

  • @userdjee834
    @userdjee834 3 роки тому +7

    Just the right comparison, thank you! I've now tried both and my conclusions are almost the same, but I would need the Speed Pro in 16x19. Head is insisting on 18x20 in most of their advanced racquets for decades now, only to see pro players use those same frames in 16x19 later. That strategy didn't age well at all. If you look at their wonderful and iconic racquets from the 90ties on, few would play them today in 18x20. Just recently they re-issued a famous Pro Tour from 1994 and most people concluded - "Yeah, nice, but it should be 16x19 instead of 18x20". I tried so many in the last 20ish years only to conclude that 18x20 doesn't really work as well.
    We need the Speed Pro 16x19 now. This Speed Pro is laser-like, but it lacks some loop and bend, flat balls are easy to counterattack and defend in today's tennis, opponents just reuse my power. I need that the ball bends down just before the baseline, and I need it to jump up "into the nose". Plus it forces me to slug all the time, and while that is great during a hitting practice, pure fun, it makes me lose 4-6 where I would normally win an easy set. So for now I will stick with Speed MP, great frame, although it is not as stable as the Pro.
    And yes, the base grip definitely lacks definition 👀

      @userdjee834 2 роки тому

      @@2n1ce Current MP is difficult to control for my level, balls are flying even with fresh strings at 28kg. Pro is OK as 18x20 but is not stable enough for harder hitting, hoop starts vibrating and shaking with faster swings. It was noted in TW review and another french review as well. Lead doesn't help. So basically both are more for recreational level than advanced and I sold them rather quickly.

      @2n1ce 2 роки тому

      @@userdjee834 interesting. I use my MP when I want more free power on servers and forehands. Control on the backhand can be difficult. 28kg seems high, I play with mine around 49lbs/22kg and it feels great. What’d you move on to?

    I have two Speed MPs 2015 and 2018 and I love it. Planning to get a new Speed pro, just I am apprehensive about my forehand which is more spin heavy compared to backhand which is flat. Last time I had tried speed pro (2018) I somehow did not get a good feeling, probably because of lesser power. Does Speed Pro hurt spin?

    I'm an intermediate player, just getting back into the game, and I'm trying to decide which of these to get. I know you mentioned that the MP is better for intermediate players, but I'm thinking of getting the Pro as a racquet I can grow into. I'm planning on playing a lot of tennis and challenging myself to see how good I can get, and I like the sound of the control that the Pro provides.
    What do you think? Is it a bad idea to go for the Pro as an intermediate player and would I be better off getting the MP?
    Thanks!

    I currently hit with the Pure Drive Tour. I'm pretty happy with it, BUT... it has NO FEEL. I tried the Speed Pro and was blown away by the feel. Almost every shot was on fire: backhand, slice, drop, serve. Notice what's missing? Forehand! My forehand was significantly weaker and I missed A LOT more into the net. I think it's the launch angle that you mention in your videos. Low shots that I could take a scooping forehand swing at doesn't seem to grab and throw the ball over the net like my Pure Drive Tour.
    Is there anything you'd recommend I try? I was thinking of dropping a few pounds in string tension to see if I can compensate there. That might add back the power, but will it also allow me to pocket the ball more?
    It works amazingly for all other shots, except my forehand, and it feels soooo good. I really want to make it work, but I don't want to invest in the racket and/or screw up my game if I can't figure out what to do about the forehand.
    I'm going to demo the MP next, but given your review and knowing my play style and preference for heavier rackets, I'm guessing the Pro is the way to go for me.

    The speed got more sluggish after the graphene touch version due to a thicker beam. Also sauce the touch version they are increasing the swing weight with each version which is too high now and also makes it more sluggish.
    I played with all versions since the first graphene version. Mp and pro and after the fact i enjoyed the graphene xt version the most. The later versions are a little bit more stable and feel a bit more solid, but more muted, sluggish and a too high swing weight. Although i agree that the xt was a little bit more brassy, but the speed of the racket and the response was just much better.
    The 360 version mp and pro was my last version as the 360+ the swing weight is over my max.
    Since then I'm playing with several rackets in my bag:
    Yonex ezone 98 2020
    Wilson clash 98
    Head extreme tour 98
    I feel like the extreme tour 98 is kinda the follow up of the speed how i liked it. And the ezone is one of my favorites as well as the clash 98.
    On days that i need that extra help and margin for error i use the clash 98. When I'm fit and tuned in, the ezone 98 and when the balls are too jumpy on me and i want less power the extreme tour.

      @LarzB Рік тому +1

      @@patricioab the ezone 98 (recently i have had the latest version) compared to the speed pro 360+ (haven't tried the auxetic yet):
      - more muted
      - more power (too much for me)
      - similar sluggishness
      - similar access to spin
      - similar control as the ezone has a fairly dense 16x19 in the middle and the speed pro has an open 18x20 (more open than in the past)
      - less touch as the racket feels stiffer and it's more muted.
      - bigger serve
      - similar in volleys although i would give the speed the edge because of the touch
      What you should watch out for is the grip handle sizing of Yonex is different to head. An L2 of Yonex is in size similar to an L3 of head. I measured it without grips.
