Joe Walsh, the mad genius! Killer guitar player, great songwriter, and crazy party animal. This song was all over the radio In1978. I was 16, had already amassed a stupid amount of speeding tickets, and got blitzed regularly at parties.😂 Thank God both Joe and I sobered up.
Fun Fact: "Life's Been Good" is a humorous look at the spoils of fame and fortune associated with being a rock star. Walsh pokes fun at the lifestyle of wealth and fame, and the spoiled mentality - how it's not him who has changed, but everyone else. In a 1981 interview with the BBC, Walsh explained: "I wanted to make a statement involving satire and humor, kind of poking fun at the incredibly silly lifestyle that someone in my position is faced with - in other words, I do have a really nice house, but I'm on the road so much that when I come home from a tour, it's really hard to feel that I even live here. It's got a nice airport, you know... so it was kind of an overall statement."

Great music!! Classic rock! I loved growing up in 70’s/80’s and I exposed my kids and grandkids to this great music! Sunday mornings was Breakfast with The Beatles! I’m 58, my kids are 40,33,32 and 30, my grandkids are 23,17, 16 and great granddaughter who is 2 is now a Beatles fan!
Jay n Amber speaking of the voice Box i DARE you to check out PETER FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE The live VERSION His song DO YOU FEEL LIKE WE DO ,,,,,,,FROM 1976 YOU AND JAY will have EAR GASAMS BIG TIME LOL
I’ve seen him with Ringo twice. Since the last time I saw them together they have become brother in laws. They both married Bach sisters😊Interesting fact about that: the sisters and Joe Walsh saw the Beatles in Cleveland 1965. They were all there together but separately.
You've seen Hotel California live, so you've seen Don Felder (or Steuart Smith in newer performances) and Joe Walsh playing together at the end. They have to coordinate their guitars, and in an interview I saw the host ask Joe Walsh if he still needed to practice after all these years. He said, "No, I can play it like sh*t without any practice at all." A good reminder that skills need brushing up from time to time, and Joe Walsh is really funny! Thanks for reacting to a great song, and God bless you!
I love to watch your reactions to the music I grew up with. Congratulations on opening your minds to new experiences. I don't know if you would be able to put it on your channel, but you should look up Jeff Wayne's "War of the world's. Original version." It's a rock opra. It is a very long play. It came out as a two disk set. Even if you can't put it on your show, you should listen to it.
Joe contributed some to REO Speedwagon, but I don’t believe, that he ever played with them. Of course, he’s best known, as a member of the Eagles. He also dated Stevie Nicks 😍
So glad you’re back to Joe Walsh, my favorite musician and guitar player. I started listening to him when he was with James Gang then he went on his own with barnstorm so what and a couple other albums then he went with the Eagles everywhere he went I would hear his song on the radio, and I would recognize his guitar every time listen to ordinary average guy in the same theme as life’s been good except it totally different and also the confessor which is an incredible song rock song. but you have to watch the video on this one too thanks
Love your reaction! Nothing says "Joe Walsh" quite like this one. He has such a good sense of humor. Amazing guitarist!! The James Gang, The Eagles, solo work... on and on.
I just checked Joe's bio: he contributed slide guitar on "Whiskey Night", "Open Up" and "Start A New Life" by REO Speedwagon, on their "Ridin' The Storm Out" album, but he was never a member of REO Speedwagon. He's also appeared on albums by Dan Fogelberg; Michael Stanley Band; John Entwistle (bassist for the Who); Don Henley; Jay Ferguson; Andy Gibb; Wilson Phillips; Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Steve Winwood. He also supplied the guitar work on Richard Marx's debut single "Don't Mean Nothing" (with two other Eagles supplying background vocals - former Eagle bassist Randy Meisner and current Eagle bassist Timothy B. Schmit). Also, we lost two rockers last Thursday - Greg Kihn of the Greg Kihn Band ("The Breakup Song" and "Jeopardy") and Jack Russell, the original lead singer of Great White. Could we get tributes to the two of them?
Thanks so much for discography info and the sad news of the departed! I did not know Greg Kihn and Jack Russell passed! Grew up with both those! Loved both for different reasons. So sad! Yes definitely definitively do a Greg Kihn band and some Great White. And Amber will like the Great White ballad Afterglow.... Thanks again for all the information.
Joe was also a member of a supergroup in the early 90s called The Best. Some of the other members besides Joe were Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, John Entwistle of The Who and Skunk Baxter of the Doobie Brothers.
Many REO Speedwagon, and J Geils Band songs in the Grown Ups movies!! Jay and Amber if you guys haven’t watched those movies you should!! They are so outrageously funny!!
Joe is an awesome guitar player, truly one of the best. I saw him in concert with the Eagles and he is one of the most important players in the band. He and Stevie Nicks were a couple many years ago. It was great to watch him play Hotel California. He is a treasure.
And only living an hour or so out of town, there's definitely a link between Cleveland and Joe. Just something the same about the town and him; Joe is Cleveland. Definitely different, but not in a bad way.
The realest autobiographical account of a 70s rock star. And probably one of the longer instrumental interludes between vocal tracks. His "dueling guitars" part with Don Felder at the end of Hotel California is legendary.

The version Joe's album SO WHAT is better.
The Confessor should be next. More storytelling and transitions to blow your mind.
My favorite moment when the Eagles were at the Rose Bowl for the "Hell Freezes Over" tour, was when Joe sang "lucky I'm sane, after all I've been through" and the guys answer back "Oh yeah, HE'S cool", while tapping their cabezas and twirling their fingers around their ears! 😹 🤪
The Confessor is one of many tunes showcasing this incredible musicians' gifts.
Great music!! Classic rock! I loved growing up in 70’s/80’s and I exposed my kids and grandkids to this great
music! Sunday mornings was Breakfast with The Beatles! I’m 58, my kids are 40,33,32 and 30, my grandkids are 23,17, 16 and great granddaughter who is 2 is now a Beatles fan!
You listen to Joe and realize oh so he’s the reason I love the Eagles.
This song was a biography of his life, but he has sobered up and changed his life, from what I've heard.
Quite a coincidence.
Prior to tuning in to you 2 , I was coloring with the basic 8, now I'm coloring w/ 64 and so much more. Thanks 🙏👍
Now we're talking!! This one deserves a donation.
Joe was a WILD MAN...Great Guitarist! HIT "Funk 49"
This song and "Ordinary Average Guy" are two of Joe's funniest. That sound you were wondering about is probably a synthesizer.
Thanks for featuring this.
It was a big hit in my youth.
It got a lot of radio play.
You guys are awesome.
Love you!❤
Joe is actually Ringo’s brother-in-law. I’ve seen him do this with Eagles and it’s great. 🌸✌️
My favorite Joe Walsh song.
mine too
BTW, he's Ringo's brother in law.
My husband and I were talking last night about The Eagles and Hotel California. Joe Walsh is awesome and brought such an amazing sound to the Eagles!
Yet when somebody told me he was joining them, I was like What?? Nah, that can't be right! Still feels that way sometimes. Whoda thunkit?!!!
This song would play on the radio in art class. When it came on my friend and i would look at each other and smile.
Nice review.
Joe contributed some to REO Speedwagon, but I don’t believe, that he ever played with them.
Of course, he’s best known, as a member of the Eagles.
He also dated Stevie Nicks 😍
Thank you
Walsh is a sneaky good guitar player. He has that "less is more" kind of style that makes each note more memorable.
Joe was a member of the James Gang, Ringo Star&His All Star Band, the Eagles, Barnstorm
The James Gang, The Eagles, solo work... on and on.
Joe Walsh, The Confessor
Joe Walsh was incredible prior to his solo work, with James Gang - their third album (Thirds) is one of my all time favorites - check it out.
Thanks, y’all! That is one of my happy, groovy songs and I really needed that right now! 🥰🤟🏼
Joe Walsh is such a great songwriter & guitarist. Turn To Stone is one you definitely will want to hear.
Joe Walsh - one of Cleveland ,Ohio's gifts to us . thank you !
And only living an hour or so out of town, there's definitely a link between Cleveland and Joe. Just something the same about the town and him; Joe is Cleveland. Definitely different, but not in a bad way.
Joe Walsh is a national treasure ( of sorts ).... he has a LOT more...
One of my top 10 all time favorite songs. There is just something about it - so unique.
One of my wife's favorite songs from our high school years. She loved your reaction!
Best reaction I've ever seen to this song! Glad you paid attention to the lyrics!🤠 You stopped it to soon! There is a hilarious ending to this song!
The realest autobiographical account of a 70s rock star. And probably one of the longer instrumental interludes between vocal tracks. His "dueling guitars" part with Don Felder at the end of Hotel California is legendary.
"Welcome To The Club" is another great Joe Walsh song with a sense of humor.
Joe’s music always is fun. It just sounds like he’s having a great time and that comes through in the song.
Life of Illusion, you will love it!
