My personal instructor was part of Joe Walsh’s touring band in the 80s. He’s got some really crazy stories!! I think Glenn Frey put it best … Joe was a crazy group of guys!!
Sad to say, I saw their tour in the early-mid 80s. It was Joe and Glenn. Before Joe got sober. He was a mess. Fell off a stool, couldn’t recall the lyrics, mumbled through most songs etc. So happy he got sober and is doing well.
Joe Walsh was the coolest most grounded mega rock star. He took what he did seriously but never took him self seriously. He sang a song about every day man which had a line “picked up the dog doo tell me it’s hard”
Omg I can't believe you're just now discovering Joe Walsh !! This was Before The Eagles not to mention an impressive solo career... Joe Walsh is usually always on any top 20 or top 10 greatest guitarist list.. Check out. " Turn To Stone " " Rocky Mountain Way" " Walk Away" ... check out also .. " Life's Been Good" " I Like Big Tits" " Waffle Stomp " and " The Confessor" 😄😄😄
There are some really good live versions of Turn To Stone out there including some amazing guitar and flute solos. Santa Monica 1976 and Houston 1978 are a couple.

You guys gotta hear Joe Walsh do "Rocky Mountain Way" You will listen to It for the rest of your Lives....Funky Rock ! The Album "The smoker you drink..The player you get"
The Confessor is a masterpiece and is supposedly about his turnaround in life of drugs and hard drinking! A beginning of how evil life can be and swings right in to hard rock that’s played with a great deal of passion expressed by his guitar solo then revealing of what is best to give up in life!
Before James Gang Joe and Joe the drummer were part of a band called The Measles I played bass in another high school band - Battle of the bands at a YMCA gym - we nailed Johnny Be Good - then this band cleaned our clocks. They were a house band in Kent Ohio for a few years.

Those riffs are unforgettable. This song has saved my sanity many times as I was stuck in Chicago traffic. Just banging on the steering wheel in rhythm...something about it evens out my mind.
I worked at a record store in high school in Chicago. Every tuesday it was my job to unpack & label every new album. Joe Walsh! My first concert in Cleveland and so fitting I had an isle seat. Rocking out to this and I feel a tap on my shoulder, I look up to a big cop passing me a joint from across the isle. It was so crazy I just said thanks man!
Congratulations to the Bengals and you Jay...not gonna lie, that second half was hard for us Chiefs fans. Especially sitting in Arrowhead! Hopefully Joe and Patrick can have a long rivalry! Joe Walsh is a deep rabbit hole you guys need to go down. His James Gang, solo, and Eagles work is outstanding!!
One of Joe Walsh's most famous riffs is the Eagles' "Life In The Fast Lane". Originally it was something Joe used to warm up before he played. Even just messing around, this guy knew how to play the guitar. Phenomonal musician.
Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells. Thank you for reacting to "Draggin' the Line." The group has so many more hits, "I think we’re Alone Now, "Crystal Blue Persuasion." I hope to hear them again very soon.
It's says alot for T.J. that Joan Jett covered that one. (I think) Her career is primarily covers- no disrespect. That's a list with The Doors and Alice Cooper among many others.
PRMillette…. Tommy and the band are still rockin it ! Saw them the summer before Covid at the Roof Garden Ballroom in Okoboji , Iowa. He encourages people to get up and dance to the songs.
There is a song by John Cougar (John Mellecamp, John Cougar Mellencamp, etc) titled 'I Need A Lover' that has a great opening instrumental. I could listen to just that for 5:00 without the lyrics.
This song has, scientifically, the exactly correct amount of cowbell. For a gentler classical taste of the band's value, also listen to "Ashes, the Rain, and I". 'Tis beautiful like y'all.
Another Joe Walsh great is a song he wrote and performed for movie "The Worriers" song called "In The City" The eagles loved so much they put it on one of their albums.
The 'riff' is a descending BLUES scale! Two things one has to take from the blues is the structure and the scale/mode. This tune has has some of the blues movement which is what RnB is an augmented blues structure. I was taught the line at 12yrs old by an alto sax player 2yrs older than I! Notice the modulation in the tune that means changes key, You take this tune and play in different keys and you will train your ears.
Joe was a total party guy. He destroyed countless hotel rooms in the 1970's. Probably my favorite guitar riff is on The Eagles "Life in the Fast Lane". Joe Walsh at his best.
This man is a great guitarist and just a fun and funny guy. This is the same man who brought you the albums There Goes the Neighborhood(cover art featuring Joe on a tank in the middle of a garbage dump), The Smoker You Drink the Player You Get and of course Got Any Gum? You do also need to listen to The Confessor and pay attention to the lyrics especially the closing lines.
If you haven't done it yet, give Midnight Man and Rosewood Bitters a listen. They both have a much more relaxing vibe. I used to sneak into a bar in Kent, Ohio (home of Kent State University, the sight of the May 4th tragedy) to hear them play when I was in high school in the early '70s
I’ve watched your videos all evening, and I’m crying my eyes out! So many happy tears! It’s so wonderful to see people enjoy fun music the first time, it’s like I get to hear it the first time again too! You two are awesome and made me so happy tonight! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The James Gang formed at Kent State University. When Joe comes back for a show in the Cleveland area, often the other 2 members Jimmy Fox on drums, and Dale Peters on bass will join Joe for a song or 2. I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers here, just a few months before Tom died, Joe Walsh opened and Jimmy and Dale came out and played this.
That's the legendary Joe Walsh you're listening to. Last October I went to the Eagles concert in LA, and at one point they cut loose Joe Walsh for a 5 minute solo. He had the whole place awestruck. Afterwards, one of the band members got on the mic and said, "You never know what you're going to get with Joe Walsh but you know it's going to be good!"
That rattlesnake sound is made by a percussion instrument called a vibra-slap. I know, it sounds like a sex toy 😆, but it's heard on the soundtracks of many westerns, and on songs like Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower. "
The Bomber, Joe Walsh, has always been known for his amazing guitar riffs. His early stuff with the James Gang is wonderful. Check out Joe's solo career. The song, "Life's Been Good To Me So Far", is a comedic gem.
As a young protégé of Bob Seger, Glenn Frey knew Joe Walsh and the James Gang before he went to LA and eventually founded the Eagles. When they wanted to put a harder edge on their music, he found that Joe was available and he knew Joe could provide just what they wanted. For your next James Gang/early Joe Walsh song, check out "Woman". Has a vibe all it's own.
Ok, and now you are hooked!! It wasn’t a party without the James Gang on the turntable!! They just have every aspect of great rockers! Our poor vinyl was completely destroyed by playing it so much! You guys really got a great gasp of great music! Oh & yes, Joe Walsh is legendary! ♥️The old white woman
Joe Walsh and Mark Knopfler and Neil Schon - my favorite guitarists of the 70s-80s. And to think that I had never, ever heard of the James Gang. Thank you!!!
I spent many hours in my young teens. Sitting in my room with my headphones on. Listening to Joe Walsh and his guitar. Over and over and over, hes a master.
What a fun reaction! Next check out the song “Turn to Stone” from his 1974 album “So What.” It’s a slow burn and has a killer riff. His future bandmates Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Randy Meisner provided background vocals.
Yes!!! This song is the epitome of Classic Rock. Such a great intro and cool guitar riff. I also vote for Life's Been Good as your next song to check out by Joe Walsh. Thanks!

Saw them a few months back, when the tour resumed. They are still incredible. It was a great concert and to see the entire "Hotel California" album performed live, then their other hits was such a treat!
Since you love their instrumental side I highly recommend The Bomber (7 minute version) next. A banger.. To hear them do something that actually feels great on an overcast or gloomy day, try Tend My Garden and Take A Look Around. For some more rocking out, try Woman or Stop.
Speaking of giving the people what they want, perhaps it's time for Amber to get her horns fix...'Beginnings' from Chicago ....try to get the long version. Thanks for all of your hard work! Our love to those wee bairns!
Funk #48 is awesome too! Not many can say they are in this club: great success in two groups as well as a solo act! Joe Walsh, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney - can you name any others?
While touring with the James Gang they were opening for The Allman Brothers and that was when Duane Allman taught Joe Walsh how to play slide guitar... resulting in many of his later songs including Rocky Mountain Way. :) This is the music I grew up listening to. Often on WMMS out of Cleveland. Yeah, I'm a Browns fan and for ONE game I will be rooting for the Bengals. Then we go back to being rivals :)
Joe Walsh is so talented and has always been a rebel. He's lent his talent to several groups, most importantly, the Eagles. He is also the brother-in-law of Ringo Starr (they married sisters), so you can imagine the flow of great musicians in and out of their lives. Please continue your deep dives into Joe's catalog.
I saw Joe Walsh perform at the University of Texas. He had Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Ray Wyle Hubbard opening for him. Joe said he had only had put his band together a few weeks prior and i noticed a couple of members were from Ray Wyle's band. Seemed odd but i later found out that Ringo had played Ray Wyle's song Snake Farm to Joe and he called Mr. Hubbard wanting to know what Amp he used for his guitar on Snake Farm and that led to them becoming friends and touring for a little bit.
Man .. y'all didn't do the live vid ☹️ That's one of the best things .. watching Joe Walsh!!! Joe is my fave rock guitarist .. he just sooo much fun & the faces he makes while playing. But I'm so stoked y'all got back to him .. awesome jam right here.
First like to say happy for your team win yesterday. I am a die hard Chiefs fan . I will be rooting for your team at the super bowl. This song brings back the 70's so much for me. Love the instrumentals and the raspy voice.
Ya'll NEED to ck out Live at Daryl's House - Daryl Hall from Hall & Oates hosts an amazing list of artists!! It's a whole rabbit hole in and of itself! Know I'm not a Patreon but you won’t regret this!!!
Joe Walsh. Saw him with Ringo's All-Star band. "Rocky Mountain Way" is his legendary hit. "Ordinary Average Guy" is where his reggae skills blow you mind (although "Problems" might be his best reggae tune ever). "I broke my Leg" is just the coolest song ever. I love, love, love that tune by Joe Walsh. Walk off some pounds by putting on the ear buds and listening to "Good Man Down". Works every time for me. The perfect brisk pace.
Joe is the riff master. You should catch him on the Live From Daryl’s House episode. A whole hour of Joe, Daryl Hall and his house band. Pure magic.🔥🔥🔥👍👍🔥
"Bluesy and funky" indeed. The trio was a force - beyond nature. The JG Rides Again is great album. Check out "Tend My Garden, Take a Look Around, and Closet Queen/the Bomber." Thanks for covering.
Can't go wrong with Joe! Btw, I work with a designer/artist and I asked him to create something special for J. You are a bigger Bengals fan than we are and we live in Ohio, lol. I'm hoping to get it to you before Super Bowl Sunday. Fingers crossed. Great reaction as always!
Kickin' jam for 3 guys. Everything Joe Walsh did was gold. Saw him once in concert, def in my top 10 shows EVER. The Eagles got better imo when he joined them. He also did some great guitar work for Dan Fogelberg, an artist who i think Amber would really like.
Love you guys! Jay, as a Philadelphia Eagles fan, I know EXACTLY where you're at right now, and I hope you have the same joyous outcome! GO BENGALS! :)
You always make me smile with every discovery of a new artist, band, or song! Got one for FEMALE FRIDAY from the late 70s: Chrissie Hynde, lead singer and primary song-writer for the Pretenders. I recommend this later live performance (she's in her 50s here) with a surprise for Amber near the end. ua-cam.com/video/eiW_NI9stp8/v-deo.html
Joe Walsh spent much of his time growing up in Ohio and also attending Kent State. He got his start in the Cleveland music scene. As a Browns "fan", gotta say "who dey"! Go Ohio!
Before the Eagles and before some of his big solo hits, James Gang was a hidden jewel in the Rock scene.
This is 70s ROCK AND ROLL BABY ,
From whom?
Yes Yes Yes 🙌
why bring up The Eagles... just bc Joe Walsh played for them? PFFT... Eagles were easy listening, The James Gang ROCKED!!!
Joe Walsh is a legend...his solo career was successful as well. Everything he touched became gold.
I have Joe in my top ten guitarists of all time.

Man .. y'all didn't do the live vid ☹️ That's one of the best things .. watching Joe Walsh!!! Joe is my fave rock guitarist .. he just sooo much fun & the faces he makes while playing. But I'm so stoked y'all got back to him .. awesome jam right here.
Pure talent! Love Joe Walsh. The James Gang, Solo, The Eagles, Solo. Just amazing!
First like to say happy for your team win yesterday. I am a die hard Chiefs fan . I will be rooting for your team at the super bowl. This song brings back the 70's so much for me. Love the instrumentals and the raspy voice.
Same here Lisa. Chiefs shoulda, coulda but didn’t, so we gotta stick with our boy J.
I haven't even watched yet but I know it will be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was blasting through the dorm during my freshman year of college. Thanks for a well-timed blast from the past.
Joe Walsh can really make a guitar sing! Love his sound in all his songs!
I had this album on 8-Track when I was 14 yrs old, I'm 65 now and love it even more. Thanks!
Ya'll NEED to ck out Live at Daryl's House - Daryl Hall from Hall & Oates hosts an amazing list of artists!! It's a whole rabbit hole in and of itself! Know I'm not a Patreon but you won’t regret this!!!
52 years later and this song still sounds great!!!!!
"Ordinary Average Guy" not only shows Joe's reggae skills.- it shows off his skills for talking about dog doo in an entertaining way.
Jimmy Fox is such an underrated drummer. Love this band. Great reaction
Joe is the riff master. You should catch him on the Live From Daryl’s House episode. A whole hour of Joe, Daryl Hall and his house band. Pure magic.🔥🔥🔥👍👍🔥
"Mississippi Queen" by Mountain is right up your alley. Banger!!
I'm promise you guys will love Down by the River by Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
Who dey by the way!!!
AGREE! Studio Version! If it's still there and doesn't get blocked!
"Bluesy and funky" indeed. The trio was a force - beyond nature. The JG Rides Again is great album. Check out "Tend My Garden, Take a Look Around, and Closet Queen/the Bomber." Thanks for covering.
That’s the jam you put on to get the party started.
Even tho you already been hitting the bottle 🥴👍

Joe Walsh spent much of his time growing up in Ohio and also attending Kent State. He got his start in the Cleveland music scene.
As a Browns "fan", gotta say "who dey"! Go Ohio!
I have no problem picturing the two of you at Woodstock! That would have so been right up your alley!
You guys should listen to the O'Jays "Got to Give the People What They Want "
Whoa! Thank you! - another song I've heard before, but didn't know the band or title! yay another song I can add to classic playlist!
watching you discover the music i've always had makes me happy, thanks
