Got a job offer for $20hr. “Yeah go find one for $40” wow why didn’t I think of that it’s so easy just go find it.
It actually is. But not for what you want to do.
You will struggle for that $40 hr. You will hurt. But you will come out stronger on top.

$50 an hour is a little high for an entry level bachelor's in psychology. That's $100k per year. Less than 10% of people in this country make that.
I don't think a bachelor's in psych qualifies you for much of anything, maybe not even $20/hr in related work.
@@Excalibur2 Yeah, a Bachelor’s in Psychology will not qualify you for a job in anything psych-related. It qualifies you to apply for a master’s degree!
most college graduates are delusional.... they think after they graduate they deserve the highest of highest pays. they went to college to begin with because they were too stupid to figure out by themselves
I know retail store managers that make 70k/year and district retail managers that make 100k+ and neither require a degree. It's all about whether someone is able to move up into management which is where the big bucks are. Or where the real money is, is in being self employed.
Open up your mind. You don't need to be limited to "what job is my degree KNOWN to qualify me for?"
Dave really thinks that 40 and 50 dollar per hour jobs grow on trees.
yea, when you are a multi millionaire and make millions per year, you tend to lose touch with reality and the lack of income growth for the middle class.
If you're ambitious enough and move up in your career, even in retail you can make that salary. That's like a decade away for her though, she's not going to make $50/hour unless she becomes self employed or gets a higher education in psych. Psych is one of those areas where a degree doesn't get you much more than working in retail.

“Dave Ramsey told me to rent somewhere that is no more than 25% of my pay. This is the only place I could find.”

Do they ever actually run the numbers on this? They basically say they need to earn like minimum 4K/month NET INCOME for a studio apartment for 1k/month if you’re lucky to find it at that price.
I get why they say that but come on. Live in the real world

Four years of having college professors blow smoke up your (you know what) and now she discovers that psych degree puts her on the same earnings level as someone stocking shelves. The good news is that she only incurred $13k in debt for that life lesson. Could have been worse. Much, much worse.
Right! 13k is not that bad of debt. However, I’ve never understood the draw to psych degrees and what it offers in the real world as far as jobs? She should have went to college for something in the medical field such as nursing or X-ray technology that has jobs everywhere and she’d be hired right out of school.
@@kf1439 which one?
Shes going to need to work 2 jobs and acquire a skillset on the side so she can increase her pay down the line. She can't afford her own apartment she needs roommates for now so that 1500/month rent turns into maybe $800 a month. If she can bring home $250 - $300 extra a week shes in good shape.
How many $40-$50/hr jobs are out there starting out for someone with a psychology degree?! Dave might be slightly out of touch.

Can’t do anything with a bachelors degree in psych is the issue
Depending on what industry you are working in. Not always medical
I'm a mathematics major and we have a lot of students who were psych majors first. Math and psych are very similar make the change but choose wisely like comp sci or something because pure math sucks.
@@front331 in what way is math and psychology similar? One is a hard science, the other is lots of abstract concepts with no real right or wrong answer, just interpretations.
That moment when Dave said welcome to the real world.... It's the best transition. YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! you got this.
I believe Dave is saying don't settle for a $20 dollar an hour job with that type of degree. He over exaggerates a lot like the beans and rice comment. He doesn't actually mean literally rice and beans. He is more psychological with his money advice than math. He builds confidence in his listeners do go find a higher paying job and to go do the work.
Ummm. Which target can you make 20 an hour stocking shelves? I’d love to apply there 😅
In jersey city we get 20 here
Wrong degree tbh.
How do I call in?
There are some really nasty people in this world but Its worse when they are members of your own family, I hope she can find a solution to her problems PDQ.
When's Dave's New Financial Formula coming out?
This is a whole new world.
I think is he about moving to more affordable places even if it is out of state. I don't completely a free especially moving aith kids and leaving supportive family behind but for some people(single, newly married, couple who wants no kids) could work
I have an associate degree in respiratory i make $46.15 hr. Free health benefits.
Beans and rice rice and beans you won’t see an inside of a restaurant unless u work there. Understood??
I would try to stay at home until I got out of debt and had some money saved first. And she needs to believe in herself to get a better paying job. Knock on every door.
Get rid of 'Sewage that can be FAMILY ' such PRICELESS advice ....
"Palm Springs isn't exactly cheapville." Bro, it isn't even cheapville where I live where jobs basically don't want to offer more than $13 an hour at 40 hours per week, while rent is $700+ a month for a one bedroom one bathroom apartment! Yeah, that's why I work 25 minutes away for $34k a year after taxes, a job that actually provides a LIVING WAGE for just me! If I were to limit my potential to just where I live, I'd be $20 a month shy of qualifying for an apartment here since $13 an hour x 40 hours a week is $520, then x 4 means $2,080 a month, and you need $2,100 to BARELY qualify unless you have a roommate, and I've asked people if they want to be roommates, none of them said yes! We're told we need to be INDEPENDENT. Okay, who the hell is independent exactly? We all need each other to make the world run. Not even the corporations are independent, not as long as they need workers, and we need farmers for our food, and we need construction workers to build houses and apartments, and we need mechanics to fix our vehicles, etc.! So this idea of being independent is just an illusion if you think about it, even if you have enough money to retire, where did you get that money? Even if you built your own house, where did you get the materials, and did you have to buy them? If so, it's not exactly independency if you think about it.
She needs to never mind throwing her money away on ANY rent and go watch some "living in a van" videos on YT and buy herself a van to live in for the next couple of years and get OUT of that nasty situation she is in. She could also easily move around then if she needed to.
And where is this 50 an hour job lol. Gimme a break!!!
Supply chain management, she got the wrong degree. She might as well have a Tuba or Left Handed Puppetry degree
He’s delusional
