Any weapon is viable for the entire game as long as you keep upgrading it. Just make sure you get at least 40 Vigor, and then you want to level up Dexterity and Strength. You want about 50 dex, then get like 30 strength, and you’ll do a ton of damage with it

Since you’re talking about levelling up I just want to stress the importance of your Vigor stat. It raises your max hp and it helps a LOT. I recommend you get to 40 Vigor by the time you reach level 70-80. As for weapons, it really depends on your playstyle. Nearly every weapon in the game is viable, and there’s also magic and bows and consumables too. I don’t have too many recommendations for magic or incantations because I don’t really play with them all that much, but there are plenty of guides out there which will give you good builds in you’re interested in those. A lot of people like the magic so that’s why I’m mentioning it first. For weapons, I really love Greatswords and Straight Swords. My favorite Greatsword is the Flamberge at Redmane Castle (note: if you’ve gone up to the Altus Plateau/Volcano Manor, you will have to kill Radahn before you can get the Flamberge in Redmane Castle). It gets good bleed buildup and can accept ashes of war, and I just think it looks really cool. I usually use Impaling Thrust on it, which you can get from Bernahl at the Warmaster’s Shack (he moves to Volcano Manor when you go there, and you have to do an assassination mission for Tanith before you can buy ashes from him). An easier Greatsword is the Lordsworn’s Greatsword, which you can get from one of the big carriages at the Gatefront Ruins. No bleed buildup but it’s still really strong, and it gets a higher crit multiplier so your ripostes/backstabs do more damage. For Straight Swords, I really recommend getting two Lordsworn’s Straightswords. Unfortunately you have to farm them from soldiers (the ones that have a medium shield and a sword, not the little guys with daggers), but the best place to do that is probably at the Gatefront Ruins. You can also buy the Broadsword from the merchant on the west coast of Limgrave (you can get down to the beach if you go west from the Church of Elleh where you met Kale). I say get two Straight Swords because their dual wielding (powerstance) attacks are really fast and REALLY strong, and it’s just super fun to play with. For armor I can’t really think of anything that comes as a full set (without killing anything) off the top of my head. We do get the Bloodhound Knight’s set at the end of this video, and you can go grab it at any time, I just put it at the end as a little bonus. One of the best sets in the game is the Scaled Armor, and you can get that by killing Old Knight Istvan, which is the first assassination that Tanith assigns to you. It’s kinda heavy though so you’re gonna need decent Endurance to be able to wear it and the Fang. (Protip: make sure you keep an eye on your Equip Load, which you can see at the bottom right of your equipment screen. You want to keep it in Medium or Light load, NEVER Heavy.) I can keep going but I think those are some good places to start. Hope it helps!

You can get through the entire game with it at +9 so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You can get to Mohgwyn Palace via a teleporter in the Consecrated Snowfield, but that takes a while to get to. I do have a video about getting there, but personally I would just use the +9 until you progress to that place.
Sounds like you already killed it then, are you sure you don't have the somber 8 in your inventory? If you already used it then don't worry about it, having the Fang upgraded to +7 will still easily get you through everything in the game up to the area beyond Leyndell the Capital. Inside the Capital, you can find your way down to the sewers, and you'll find another somber 8 there.
Anything you want, as long as you're in Medium Load (you can see it on the bottom right of your Equipment page). The Knight set sold by the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold is a good set, but armor doesn't really matter all that much in this game.
Im struggling to understand why your doing significantly more damage then me during the godskin fight, I noticed you lit a touch or something but I have done everything else you have said during this video and not getting him to half during that damage phase at all
Did you upgrade the Fang to +6 using the somber stones we grabbed along the way? Are you two-handing it? Are you doing charged heavy attacks, as in holding down the heavy attack button instead of just tapping it? And you meet the Str/Dex requirements for the Fang?
I’d recommend going up to 40 but in this guide we used Radagon’s Soreseal, which increases Vigor by 5 and gave us 40 total. But you definitely want to get your base Vigor to 40 and take off the Soreseal after this.
Hey! I need some help. I did the invasion, but Varay never showed up. He didn't show up for me before, but I'm already level 100 so I'm worried it's too late?? Need the blood favor to move on, but not sure where to find him.
Check back at The First Step. If he’s still there then you need to go talk to Enia at the Roundtable Hold, and then he’ll move to the Rose Church. If he’s not there, and he left a glowing message for you, then he should be at the Rose Church. If the message ISN’T there, and he also isn’t there, then you killed him at some point and he’s gone, and you won’t be able to do his quest.
Use the Fang’s ash of war by pressing L2 (idk the button on keyboard and mouse), and then you can do the followup dash by hitting R2 (your heavy attack button)
Somber weapons max out at +10. A +10 somber weapon is equivalent to a +25 regular weapon. That’s one of the reasons why the Fang is so popular, because it’s really easy to get it to a high upgrade level quickly.
You can craft more of them. When you throw a throwing pot, the Cracked Pot you used to craft it will reappear in your inventory. You never run out of them. The number of Cracked Pots you have just determines how many throwing pots you can carry at once. In the event that you run out if Trina’s Lillies, you can google where to get more of them. If you somehow use ALL OF THEM, then not only should you document this because that would probably qualify as some kind of a world record, but also you could alternatively use the Sword of St Trina. But you’ll surely be able to kill him with just the pots.
Now you can’t get Boiled Crab which is one of the best consumables/buffs in the game. His Iron Ball is a very good weapon though but you could’ve just gotten it a bit later.
@@ZyadMohamedK Varre? The only other way to get to Mohgwyn Palace is through the Consecrated Snowfield. I do have a video about that if you want to check it out, but really if you have the Fang at +9 then that will easily carry you through the entire game, so getting it to +10 isn’t super important.
Blasphemous Blade is generally an "ash of war stick," where the main reason you use it is just to blast stuff with the ash of war as much as possible. Bloodhound's Fang is more of a robust weapon in that you use it as an actual sword really often, and only in certain circumstances do you want to use the ash of war. Your stats for it should be something like: -40 Vigor, or as much as 60 if you still die a lot -60 Dexterity, 40 Strength. You want to level up the dex first because that's what gives the sword more damage, and when you get to around 40 dex, start putting points into Strength. It's a 3:2 ratio, so for every 3 points you put into dex, you put 2 points into str. -No more than 20 Endurance or Mind. Unless you're a mage you really don't need to put any points into Mind, and 20 Endurance is more than enough for most purposes. Armor can be helpful but it's not nearly as important as you probably think, so don't worry about getting the End to wear those super heavy sets of armor. Just wear whatever you think looks cool, and make sure you're not in Heavy Load (you want to be in Med Load). For talismans you're gonna want stuff like Ritual Sword Talisman for extra damage, Dragoncrest Greatshield for damage negation, Shard of Alexander if you like using the ash of war. I also like to use Lord of Blood's Exultation if you put Blood Grease on the Fang. Finally for buffs you're gonna want Golden Vow and something like Flame Grant Me Strength. This will ensure that you do a ton of damage, and Vow also gives you extra damage negation. This is just a pretty basic outline of a build for this weapon, but it's a good starting point. You can adjust the build to suit your preferences too. I hope that helps!

i feel like bloodhounds fang results in your learning the combat encounters better than using blasphemous blade. imo with the latter u can very easily grind through the game, but you won’t improve much.
@mangagod I mean, to each his own, but imo that warp is inconsistent as hell and a real hassle to pull off. I literally killed Godskin “Perfectly Fair” Noble here in like 30 seconds with not much setup, which I think is gonna be easier and faster for the typical player.
If that were true then you could just google it. However it’s not true because in the video I specifically show you that you can follow the road west from the Writheblood Ruins, which I already showed you how to get to earlier in the video.

Hey man I appreciate the guide. One thing though, when I'm fighting the noble I cannot stagger him for the critical hit...I've wasted like maybe 10 sleeping pots on multiple attempts... I do the routine as described in the vid, I sleep him and double charge r2 into tap r2, but he doesn't go down. I then throw another sleep pot at him and it doesn't sleep him. So, you can see how I've wasted so many pots. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Ok, so I managed to kill him on the 4th try, but I did it without staggering him or any crit...do you know why? I feel like thats pretty important mechanic that for whatever reason I can't seem to proc. My stats are actually better than yours at the time of the fight in the video.
@@zichisdead Were you two-handing the fang? And are you sure you did “hold R2, hold R2, tap R2”? The Fang does 77 total poise damage with that combo if you are one-handing it. The Godskin Noble has 80 poise so it’s not enough. If you two-hand the sword then it does 84.7 poise damage, so my assumption is that you weren’t two-handing it. Your stats don’t affect a weapon’s poise damage so while it’s good that you were more leveled up, that wouldn’t affect poise damage. As for the sleep pots, I’m not entirely sure how that could end up not working because he has very low sleep resistance. If he’s moving around then he might just not be in the cloud for quite long enough to get slept, maybe that was it? Either way, good job killing him! He’s kinda tough if you fight him without stance breaks and sleeps so be proud of that lol
@@DIABETOR Yes, I was two-handing it. I made sure of it every time. That would leave the only explanation being that I wasn't actually doing the combo, but I'm not really sure how I could fuck that up. Just based on the animation, hold R2 and the character winds up the sword, hold R2 again and it does the secondary animation where you do the spin, and then tap R2. Does that sound right? Could it really be that I wasn't two-handing it, or is there any other possibility where I wasn't getting enough poise...?
@zichisdead It’s gotta be you either weren’t two-handing it or you weren’t doing the fully charged heavy attacks. Unless you’re using mods of any kind? But yeah it’s most likely you just weren’t two handing it, probably because after casting Golden Vow you switch back to the Fang and then you need to do the input to two-hand it again.
Did I say not to level Vigor? Like seriously I don’t remember what I said in this video, but that is something I would NEVER tell anyone lol. I always tell people to get 40 Vigor before they put points into anything else. In this video I’m pretty sure I just got the required Str and Dex to wield the Bloodhound’s Fang because this video is about the Fang. But yeah Vigor is absolutely your priority. Actually I just looked at this video and yeah right before the Godskin Noble fight, the very first thing I did to prepare for it at 27:53 was to being Vigor up to like 35, and I put like 2 points into Dex so I could wield the Fang for the Godskin fight. You can get a bunch of Trina’s Lilies from the swamp underneath the Albinauric Village in Liurnia. There’s a bunch at the Mistwood Ruins in Limgrave. There’s a lot of places you can get more of them if you google “trinas lily locations.” Also you can summon another player to help you if you need help too, there’s a summoning pool right outside the Prison Town Church site of grace.
Around 2.5 hours. I also went afk a few times because I was planning it out and taking notes, so my estimate would be that it’s about 2 hours of actual gameplay.

The Godskin Noble doesn’t drop it, you need to get the stone from the Manor in an area after the Noble. Watch from 30:19

Use the Fang’s ash of war by pressing L2 (idk the button on keyboard and mouse), and then you can do the followup dash by hitting R2 (your heavy attack button)

How do i go past +10?
Somber weapons max out at +10. A +10 somber weapon is equivalent to a +25 regular weapon. That’s one of the reasons why the Fang is so popular, because it’s really easy to get it to a high upgrade level quickly.

What do you do if you mess it up right at the end of the fight with the godskin noble and then lose your sleep pots :(
You can craft more of them. When you throw a throwing pot, the Cracked Pot you used to craft it will reappear in your inventory. You never run out of them. The number of Cracked Pots you have just determines how many throwing pots you can carry at once.
In the event that you run out if Trina’s Lillies, you can google where to get more of them. If you somehow use ALL OF THEM, then not only should you document this because that would probably qualify as some kind of a world record, but also you could alternatively use the Sword of St Trina. But you’ll surely be able to kill him with just the pots.

Now you can’t get Boiled Crab which is one of the best consumables/buffs in the game. His Iron Ball is a very good weapon though but you could’ve just gotten it a bit later.

@@ZyadMohamedK Varre? The only other way to get to Mohgwyn Palace is through the Consecrated Snowfield. I do have a video about that if you want to check it out, but really if you have the Fang at +9 then that will easily carry you through the entire game, so getting it to +10 isn’t super important.
how is this vs the blasphemous blade.. I just for the bloodhound following a guide and not sure how to build my build around this weapon..
Blasphemous Blade is generally an "ash of war stick," where the main reason you use it is just to blast stuff with the ash of war as much as possible. Bloodhound's Fang is more of a robust weapon in that you use it as an actual sword really often, and only in certain circumstances do you want to use the ash of war.
Your stats for it should be something like:
-40 Vigor, or as much as 60 if you still die a lot
-60 Dexterity, 40 Strength. You want to level up the dex first because that's what gives the sword more damage, and when you get to around 40 dex, start putting points into Strength. It's a 3:2 ratio, so for every 3 points you put into dex, you put 2 points into str.
-No more than 20 Endurance or Mind. Unless you're a mage you really don't need to put any points into Mind, and 20 Endurance is more than enough for most purposes. Armor can be helpful but it's not nearly as important as you probably think, so don't worry about getting the End to wear those super heavy sets of armor. Just wear whatever you think looks cool, and make sure you're not in Heavy Load (you want to be in Med Load).
For talismans you're gonna want stuff like Ritual Sword Talisman for extra damage, Dragoncrest Greatshield for damage negation, Shard of Alexander if you like using the ash of war. I also like to use Lord of Blood's Exultation if you put Blood Grease on the Fang.
Finally for buffs you're gonna want Golden Vow and something like Flame Grant Me Strength. This will ensure that you do a ton of damage, and Vow also gives you extra damage negation.
This is just a pretty basic outline of a build for this weapon, but it's a good starting point. You can adjust the build to suit your preferences too. I hope that helps!

i feel like bloodhounds fang results in your learning the combat encounters better than using blasphemous blade. imo with the latter u can very easily grind through the game, but you won’t improve much.

@mangagod I mean, to each his own, but imo that warp is inconsistent as hell and a real hassle to pull off. I literally killed Godskin “Perfectly Fair” Noble here in like 30 seconds with not much setup, which I think is gonna be easier and faster for the typical player.

If that were true then you could just google it. However it’s not true because in the video I specifically show you that you can follow the road west from the Writheblood Ruins, which I already showed you how to get to earlier in the video.

Hey man I appreciate the guide. One thing though, when I'm fighting the noble I cannot stagger him for the critical hit...I've wasted like maybe 10 sleeping pots on multiple attempts... I do the routine as described in the vid, I sleep him and double charge r2 into tap r2, but he doesn't go down. I then throw another sleep pot at him and it doesn't sleep him. So, you can see how I've wasted so many pots. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Ok, so I managed to kill him on the 4th try, but I did it without staggering him or any crit...do you know why? I feel like thats pretty important mechanic that for whatever reason I can't seem to proc. My stats are actually better than yours at the time of the fight in the video.
@@zichisdead Were you two-handing the fang? And are you sure you did “hold R2, hold R2, tap R2”? The Fang does 77 total poise damage with that combo if you are one-handing it. The Godskin Noble has 80 poise so it’s not enough. If you two-hand the sword then it does 84.7 poise damage, so my assumption is that you weren’t two-handing it. Your stats don’t affect a weapon’s poise damage so while it’s good that you were more leveled up, that wouldn’t affect poise damage.
As for the sleep pots, I’m not entirely sure how that could end up not working because he has very low sleep resistance. If he’s moving around then he might just not be in the cloud for quite long enough to get slept, maybe that was it?
Either way, good job killing him! He’s kinda tough if you fight him without stance breaks and sleeps so be proud of that lol
@@DIABETOR Yes, I was two-handing it. I made sure of it every time. That would leave the only explanation being that I wasn't actually doing the combo, but I'm not really sure how I could fuck that up. Just based on the animation, hold R2 and the character winds up the sword, hold R2 again and it does the secondary animation where you do the spin, and then tap R2. Does that sound right? Could it really be that I wasn't two-handing it, or is there any other possibility where I wasn't getting enough poise...?
@zichisdead It’s gotta be you either weren’t two-handing it or you weren’t doing the fully charged heavy attacks. Unless you’re using mods of any kind? But yeah it’s most likely you just weren’t two handing it, probably because after casting Golden Vow you switch back to the Fang and then you need to do the input to two-hand it again.
I disagree with you’re leveling I think vigor is important early be with a high level weapon is strong enough for early game
Did I say not to level Vigor? Like seriously I don’t remember what I said in this video, but that is something I would NEVER tell anyone lol. I always tell people to get 40 Vigor before they put points into anything else. In this video I’m pretty sure I just got the required Str and Dex to wield the Bloodhound’s Fang because this video is about the Fang. But yeah Vigor is absolutely your priority.
Actually I just looked at this video and yeah right before the Godskin Noble fight, the very first thing I did to prepare for it at 27:53 was to being Vigor up to like 35, and I put like 2 points into Dex so I could wield the Fang for the Godskin fight. You can get a bunch of Trina’s Lilies from the swamp underneath the Albinauric Village in Liurnia. There’s a bunch at the Mistwood Ruins in Limgrave. There’s a lot of places you can get more of them if you google “trinas lily locations.” Also you can summon another player to help you if you need help too, there’s a summoning pool right outside the Prison Town Church site of grace.
how long did this take in real time?
Around 2.5 hours. I also went afk a few times because I was planning it out and taking notes, so my estimate would be that it’s about 2 hours of actual gameplay.
