Came here to say this and i am so glad you have already done it for me in such a respectful and eloquent way. Loved the guide as well, as a seasoned FromSoft player it bridged the gaps between ER and Bloodborne or Demon's Souls.
finally, someone who actually explains all the classes and builds to new players without throwing around what sounds like a whole other language to normal people, most guides "for new players" ive seen just say all of this stuff and expect you to know it already
I've never played any souls-likes at all ever. I started this twice since it got released and both times lasted about 10 min after getting smashed into the ground by the big guy at the start. I love your guides, you explain things so well. Like, at about 40min you casually say to put a marker down, BUT you follow it up with how to and where to see the instructions on the HUD (I very often miss stuff like that cause I can get overwhelmed with new games throwing info at me... I guess I go info blind lol). I really appreciate those little things most people just gloss over. Thanks!
Same bro. I played ER for about an hour when it came out. Died repeatedly, looked over at my roommate and asked "People think this is fun?" But after watching him beat it, I want to seriously give it shot this time.
in case you dont know, and for the people i know that dont, if you hold the item switch button(down on dpad for me) you will automatically go to the item in the first slot instead of cycling through
What a well-rounded and comprehensive guide to this game. I was debating playing it due to it's complexity as I'm new to Souls-like games, but after watching this, I'm thinking I should give it a shot.
I'm literally in that same position rn where I'm thinking of buying it since it's so popular and hyped up but at the same time I've never played a souls like game before, and I'm worried I won't like it or just feel extremely overwhelmed with everything especially with the HUGE open world setting, the exploration, the difficulty and how there is just so much going on. So I gotta ask, did you end up playing it, and if you have... as someone who's new to this genre, how is it going so far?
This video had to take forever and a day to put together... coming back for the dlc and realized quickly I forgot a bunch and more. Thank you for the refresh
Got into Elden Ring recently but needed some help so I didn't get lost or waste certain things along my play-through, been a long time since I've played a souls game. This guide is brilliant, thanks for the breakdown (can only imagine how long it took).
Just the guide i needed. I'm returning to Elden Ring after an initial effort when it released which proved me right when i believed that i wouldn't progress too far. I am an old gamer and not really wired for this type of combat. However, i am at a stage of my gaming life where i'm looking for a world to explore, and combat where i can test what my real capabilities are, and after watching a few streams i have become really hooked on this game and want to see how far i can progress this time around. Your guide is an essential tool for me to help understand parts of the game which my aging brain may not initially connect with. So thank you for putting in the time on a video such as this one.
That’s awesome. I used to only play sports games before Elden Ring and it was really daunting to start, but once I understood the game better it become one of the best games I ever played. Good luck!
Thank you Paul. I definitely feel i have come into the game this time with a much more relaxed mindset, which is normally how i like to engage with games anyway. Taking my time and enjoying the journey. First story boss down and in no rush for the next😁 Unlike you, i've never been able to adapt to sports games so huge admiration as in my eyes these take a different level of skill and focus. Appreciate your time.
Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy this massive project🙏 Be sure to share with your friends that are jumping back into Elden Ring, or jumping in for the first time!
This was a very helpful reminder as someone who hasn't played in a few years. I definitely missed a few things since I thought I remembered what I needed to do
This is hands down the best guide for this game for new players. I’m a seasoned FromSoftware veteran and just let this play in the background to see if it would be a good reference point for new players or trying to get someone to give the game a try. Thanks for making this video.
This is one of the best guides I have ever seen! I like how you break everything down in the simplest way possible making it easy to understand and super helpful! Awesome job!!!
I don't know why this kind of big games do not make properly tutorials. It feels embarrassing for new players and easy to quit. Best guide I've seen, feels like your mate is explaining you all the basics.

Best guide ever, I love the souls games but finding a detailed and understandable guide is tough. I definitely feel a lot more confident in knowing what's going to work with stats and builds and what isn't. And that lack of understanding has made me stop playing. Do you have a slightly more detailed guide on scaling covering differences in thing like quality and keen?
I played the game with 2 friends a few years ago out but haven't touched it since. The DLC has got me hype again, and I'm thinking it's time to do my first solo playthrough. This was insanely helpful, so thank you.

Hi Lucky Ghost, Evergoal is pronounced as "Ever jail" Here are some of my tips 1. There are too many weapons in this game. Pick one or two which will stick by your side for the rest of the game. Memorize the gap/distance that your weapon can cover. It is always better to use a familar weapon than a new one which you are not used to it. 2. You can loot caravan chest to find weapon inside 3. Do not be afraid to cheese difficult/unfair bosses. You can find plenty of guides on youtube 4. To prevent losing runes to bosses behind fog wall, quickly quit the game before dying. You will be outside of the fog wall the next game session. (Not sure if it has been nerfed?) 5. You can summon other players to help you with bosses/dungeons. If they keep shouting "hey", they are trying to get your attention to something. 6. Avoid Caelid at the start of the game. 7. Equip two weapons of the same class (For Ex: 2x curved sword) to "powerstance". Powerstancing will unlock new moves for your weapon. 8. Try most ash of war. You will be surprised that some of these ash of war are quite powerful. "Wild Strikes" and "Spinning Strikes" are quite powerful. I defeated the caelid tunnel magma wyrm using "spinning strikes".
I watched your buldors gate guide i loved it. I was like i wonder if he has one for elden ring, and i searched it and you literally uploaded one 5 days agao
Great video, been watching it with my full attention so I can answer all my friend's questions when I make him play co-op with me as his first souls game. If you could see my comment history and how often I point out people pronouncing things wrong you'd know how proud you should be of yourself for talking more than an hour before I caught you :) 1:08:12 - cerulean is pronounced with an S sound, not a C 1:14:25 - yeah.... like that. haha, good job.
I just started playing Elden Ring last night. The message and the bloodstains had me confused but after 30 minutes of playing I noticed that they're extremely helpful.
Yai i have a question,im a fiest time ever beginning with a soulslike game and im a bit afraid..but what version of ER did you buy...the DLC or the first original version. Im looking to buy it but wNt to know which to buy.
@@dannygonsalez27 I just bought the original version, I was going to buy the DLC too, but the base even the base game takes a while and has lots of things you can do. I would recommend just getting the base game unless you see a good deal to get the DLC as well
This helped, I started when it first came out but was lost and kept dying. I turn on the game for the first time today and have a level 22 character. Going to go back and get things I didn’t that this guide mentioned
Simply put.... amazing amazing video. Thanks so much. I've had this game since it was released, and just got overwhelmed by all of it. This has made my experience exponentially better. 😊
Thanks for this very detailed video! A couple of additions to the mount basics that took me a while to find out. Right Button and Right Trigger both work to attack with your main weapon on the right side. Left Button and Left Trigger will also attack with your main weapon, but on your left side. Also, holding one of the triggers to charge a heavy attack while mounted will do some pretty cool heavy attacks that are different for each weapon. An easy way to dismount is L3. :)
Great overview for returning players. As a PC player, I also really struggled playing with mouse & keyboard (my preferred way of playing) even after toying with the keybinds. In the end, I just gave up and switched to a controller, and it made a big difference for me, the game flows so much better with it. Btw, Margit's shackle is another easy way to disable traps (and illusory walls). You can get it fairly early, and it has a long range.
Thank you sm for making this video bro! Just picked up Elden Ring bc of the second wind hype that it's been getting and as it is my first Soulslike I'm a complete noob. This vid helped a ton bc I was confused on almost every topic outside of the super obvious ones. Patiently awaiting that OP start vid!
My first playthrough I just went from boss to boss and gave up. My buddy said to wonder around more and it'll be much easier and how the game was meant to be played. About to try again from scratch. Hope this time is better 😅
This is really in-depth and great. The info here was prob the best I have seen. Only think would be to say that there is only so many upgrade 10’s in the game so don’t go too nuts.
I've had this game since the reviews started pouring in. Installed it, and never played it. I guess I was expecting Dark Souls 3 difficulty or something. I didn't care to "GetGud" OR get my ass handed to me. Thank you for this video. I think I'll fire it up and give it a go. It certainly sounds much more manageable than I was expecting.
Also started a couple days ago, was delaying playing this for so long. Now I'm 30 hours in, with plenty guides and take it slowly, it's rewardful :D Can be overwhelming, but exploring is also a nice process, so I actually enjoying it
Thank you for the guide! Helped me alot. My first time playing any souls game and I've played for around 10 hours without even knowing I could sprint. Hotkeys are surely horrible on PC. Keep it up!
1st time souls player, this games so random it's great. Hey a treasure chest *gets teleported to instadeath mine* Hey an occult*smaug enters the chat* Games hard but really rewarding once u "get it" :) ty for the guide.
Absolutely great video and beginner guide for someone like me who just bought the game and wants to jump in. As a random note though, gaol is pronounced jail, so they're Everjails and not Evergoals.
Damn, the timing for this video is pretty late. If you put this out around the time the game released this would have millions of views no doubt. Really well made video. I love the time stamps.👍👍👍
enjoyed every sec of this vid, and yes i watched it full while playing ER. A++ also this channel is amazing with other vids such as builds and other stuff.
Yoo, God bless you. I was looking for a more up to date guide for beginners, and this vid was one. I just ordered my PS5, and EldenRing that will be coming this Friday, so I am saving this video until then.
Thank you for this video, I just grabbed the game cause all my friends told me to get it, and I wanted some insight before I started even though I already am a souls game player ❤
Awesome! I just beat AC Odyssey, gonna play some Remnant 2 before SW Squadrons' campaign... but afterwards, it's Elden Ring for me. I love your in-depth overview guides. Helped lots with BG3. Looking forward to gaming Elden Ring
After I leveled up a bit I beat the first horseman while on my horse. You stick to him on the right rear and don't let any space form and just wail on him. He only hit me once.
Elden ring is the first souls game I actually leveled vigor past 20ish. In every other game I always felt like having more damage was better than that one or two extra hits worth of life. I played all the way up to the Margit fight at the erdtree bashing my god damn head against a wall my first playthrough getting one or two shot by literally everything. Reminded me of going through star ocean 2 and 3 without realizing there was a whole level up system for stats besides just the xp lol
There’s so much stuff going on in this game it’s a bit overwhelming. That being said I started my first play through the other day have died a 100 or so times in the beginning and I’m enjoying every minute of it 😂

If you could see my comment history and how often I point out people pronouncing things wrong you'd know how proud you should be of yourself for talking more than an hour before I caught you :)
1:08:12 - cerulean is pronounced with an S sound, not a C
1:14:25 - yeah.... like that. haha, good job.
I would recommend just getting the base game unless you see a good deal to get the DLC as well
FANTASTIC VIDEO, THANK YOU!
The best guide i have seen so far. Thank you. This is my first soul game, and i am addicted.
OP start is live now :)) Hope you enjoy!
Now I'm 30 hours in, with plenty guides and take it slowly, it's rewardful :D Can be overwhelming, but exploring is also a nice process, so I actually enjoying it
You guides never disappoint. I was just looking to get elder ring and try it out and this appeared on YT. Tnx again
Glad I could help, and thanks so much for the kind words!
This is the best most thorough guide I’ve watch so far good job brother.
This is super helpful! My boyfriend tried explaining things but things didn’t stick too well & this guide is such a life saver !
Totally understandable, this game is massive! Glad I could help, cheers!
Great job, so far the game is in my pile of shame but am planning on it soon. This is very helpful!
Well spoken and very informative. Got me pumped to play! Thank You.
Thank you for the guide! Helped me alot. My first time playing any souls game and I've played for around 10 hours without even knowing I could sprint. Hotkeys are surely horrible on PC. Keep it up!
1st time souls player, this games so random it's great. Hey a treasure chest *gets teleported to instadeath mine*
Hey an occult*smaug enters the chat*
Games hard but really rewarding once u "get it" :) ty for the guide.
Absolutely great video and beginner guide for someone like me who just bought the game and wants to jump in. As a random note though, gaol is pronounced jail, so they're Everjails and not Evergoals.
Thank you! I want to get back into it, never finished the game and it’s been a year so I forget almost everything lol. This will be a good watch.
Any time! Good luck!
Lost all my saved data on 2 characters i had. Needed a refresher because i wanted to play again. Thanks :]
Damn, the timing for this video is pretty late. If you put this out around the time the game released this would have millions of views no doubt. Really well made video. I love the time stamps.👍👍👍
haha don't count this puppy out yet! surely the algorithm will pick it up and share it :)) (please god please) cheers!
enjoyed every sec of this vid, and yes i watched it full while playing ER.
Heck ya thank you!
thanks for the guide! first time watching your vid 5 min in and you definitely got a sub. Keep up the good work .
thanks so much!
After I leveled up a bit I beat the first horseman while on my horse. You stick to him on the right rear and don't let any space form and just wail on him. He only hit me once.
I just wanna thank you so much, I just got the game and I watched this and the OP start video and it helped immensely
Awesome! So glad to hear it!
Great guide for all the systems in the game that can be hard to understand when starting out, thanks Lucky!
That being said I started my first play through the other day have died a 100 or so times in the beginning and I’m enjoying every minute of it 😂
Dying is a part of it. Don't give up ❤
Best guide for any game I’ve seen bro great job man
Thanks. I am once again trying to get into this game. Maybe this time is the time.
LOVE so much in this game! This is your best guide yet! SO WELL done! ❤🔥SO hyped for the DLC!
same here, can't wait!
Great video. My first souls game and def needed some guidance
Glad to hear it!
I played the game when it first came out but didn’t finish it simply because of burn out so I was just totally lost when I tried getting into it again but this video helped so much!! DLC time😈
Jesus these are pure pro tips! Thanks Lucky 1:37:32
Thinking about getting back in to Elden Ring. This guide will help a ton!
Heck ya brother, enjoy!
Why is Messmer so handsome? ❤
Me: I only have 24 larval tears. Better not change build yet
This is actually such high quality. Good job man!
thanks brother!
Yeah this was great very in depth an went over everything possible thx your great dude. You may just be the Elden lord of information 😂
This is Amazing thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Just bought the game about to try it for the first time! Looking forwards to your next video about the OP start.
Will be posted by tomorrow morning! (Maybe even tonight if all goes well)
@@LuckyGhost perfect timing I have tomorrow off to play and level! :) appreciate your hard work.
Thankyou for the video. As a brand new elden ring player I found this brilliantly helpful
Great to hear!
Thank you for posting this in depth guide. This game doesn’t explain anything well for new players. But this helped
No problem!
Holy shit, this is such a good guide. Many of the things I learnt here I didn't even know and I've completed the base game 4 times. Subscribed!
Thx for tips I now lvl 59 and kill bosses like in 30 seconds that build make game so easy so far
JUST GOT GAME AND READY TO PLAY 1 TIME SOULD GAME THANKS FOR THIS HELPS ALOT
Just bought it tonight! Can’t wait for a game with actual challenge
