  • When your closet rod is drooping you can add a bracket for support but that requires screwing the bracket to the wall. In addition you need to find a stud or install a brace board to the two closest studs to attach the bracket too. THIS PVC PIPE SOLUTION IS MUCH EASIER!. No screws in the wall, no studs to find and you only need a saw to cut the pvc pipe to the correct length from the rod too the floor. It's a quick and very easy solution.

    A few people have asked me about the bottom of the support pole. It just sits on the floor. Didn’t want holes in the floor so it’s free standing. The weight of the coats is enough to hold it in place.

    I really like this idea. I have a closet that only has half of the space to hang clothes. I can't put one of the shelfs with integrated hanging bar as the closet also houses an electrical breaker box so I can't block it. But, this idea will allow me to put additional hanging space without blocking. I also have a very high ceiling wash room that I could use to hang shirts and things that need to hang dry. I could incorporate your idea and use mounting brackets on the sides with the supporting pole in between the washer and dryer. Great idea for additional hanging space .. A nice solution to add additional hanging functionality to my small condo I also like that the solution is inexpensive and versatile.

    How do you measure the PVC pipe length for floor How much do you have to subtract for the amount that is in the T

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  3 роки тому

      Put your upright pvc into the T and mark on the upright where the edge of the T comes to. Install the T on the closet rod. Hold the rod up so it will be parallel to the floor. In other words remove the downward bow in the rod. Measure from the bottom of the the T to the floor. I would add about 1/2”. Install the rod and see where you are. It should be too long. Cut a bit more off and try it again. Not very scientific but eventually you will get to the exact height you want. Good luck!

    how did u get the top support to go around the bar like that? did u have to cut the top support for it to go around?

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  2 роки тому

      No. I took down the rod and slid it through the T at the top of the support.

      @Ray_Here  2 роки тому

      If you can’t get the rod down, you could cut off the top of the T.

      @@shayharris9382 it’s called a T. Just tell them at a hardware store what you are trying to do. They should be able to help you find what you need.

    Didn’t show how to install. Further, one of my plastic holders broke and now rod too long to place back in since need to screw in holder and cannot due because rod needs to be in place to fit.

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  Рік тому

      Sorry you had that issue Jeff. I have had the rod holders break as well. You may be able to find a metal rod holder. They are generally thinner than the plastic ones and hold up better.
      The install is pretty straight forward. Just lift on the rod and slide the pvc pipe in place. Good luck. I hope you get it worked out. The repair in the video has been in place for a long time with no issues.

      @@Ray_Here Thanks for replying! Just imagine problems getting the rod into the plastic holders. Too short of rod and will not fit into the holders; long enough rod to fit into the holders will present the problem of having to unscrew the plastic holder from the wall and insert the rod. However, then no way to screw the plastic holder into the wall (the screws are in the middle of the plastic holder). For time being just placed the rod against the wall after removing the plastic holder, and the rod seems to fairly secure against the wall by itself. I thought about getting one of the tension rods normally used for curtains, but also stated can be used for closets. Not sure, however, what weight limit that would support. Manufacturer does not state, but user video says seven pounds.

      @@jeffzest8393 I would not recommend using a tension rod. Is your rod wood? if so, you should be able to cut it a bit shorter. If its metal, perhaps you can just replace it with a wooden rod.
