- Welcome back to #WhatsStockTV
So after the "engine hot/ac off" and "engine power reduced" messages I get the car home and realized the radiator is cracked. Not quite how I planned on spending money this week but life happens.
I should be back on the Vette after this week to put on the drilled and slotted brakes.

Well my 2012 impala was an accident & it cracked my radiator but the body shop replaced it with a brand new one so i don't have to worry about it for awhile but your video is very informative if I have to replace it again i will do it myself thanks👍🏾
Glad to help out 💯
Im pretty sure i got the same exact crack in my impala. I thought it was the hose. Fml. This damn impala man.
Luckily it's not too bad of a job to do. The thermostat is what really gave me trouble
@@89imp03 yeah imma try to hype myself up to take it on. I didn't see the thermostat vid. Ill check again.
@@89imp03 thanks for the video bruh
@@LJ. no problem
Lol ikr damn impalas so fuckin stressful
Do you remember the gasket you put on for the thermostat?Am I supposed to peel that self?Stick thing off
I don't remember if that gasket had an adhesive side or not. I think it was just a regular foam one
My 12 impala is leaking in the same spot, I believe it's a crack in the radiator. I'll be changing mine out to.
Good luck, hope you get it sorted out
My 2013 is leaking coolant from a cracked hose clamp and the radiator, probably at the same spots too. I'm guessing that all Impala radiators crack like this because the plastic ends stretch and degrade over the hundreds of heat cycles when the engine runs. Also, I think if the front cowl that covers the hood latch was removed you can move the condenser without taking the bumper off, I haven't done it yet to confirm it but you've probably figured out a solution already.
Yeah I think it's just bound to happen after a while. I'm not sure on the condenser or not but you could be right. I haven't really looked at that part since
Was your fans not coming on before this happened?
No the fans worked just fine
Thnaks
No problem
How did it crack? What caused it took crack on the side
Could've been the thermostat or coolant temp sensor messing up that caused it to overheat and crack
I just replaced my second radiator this week on my impala. Both got cracks in them after 2 days. Ima try replacing that thermostat.
Might want to check the fans too if they're cracking that fast
@@89imp03 ok, thanks.
@@jrchaidez92 no problem
What are those rubber things at the bottom of the radiator?
Basically like a shock absorber for the radiator
How did you burp the coolant system, from the reservoir?
I kno im late but all you had to do was fill it and let the car run with the reservoir cap off with the heat on no ac
How many miles are on the Impala?
Over 200k, don't remember the exact amount but it's been thoroughly used
@@89imp03 Ah ok, good to know. My '12 "only" has 168k, was wondering how soon I'd have to start looking at replacing the t-stat and/or radiator! I did the radiator hoses last fall but didn't touch the t-stat.
I'm a female just wondering is it my hose or my radiator coolant is leaking from it
You'll have to fill it up and Chase it down. The radiator will usually be more of a slow leak. If the hose busts you'll lose more coolant quicker
@@89imp03 the water comes out fast on mines so you’re saying that’s probably the hose and not the actual radiator?
Could be, fill it up and see if you can pinpoint the leak. Or if the car is cold you can feel around on the hoses to see if one is cracked or busted
So did it run after the thermostat replaced?
Yeah it ran fine after all this
@89imp03 well guess that's what it was, haha. Did the same thing, replaced the sensor, still was getting hot, then replaced the thermostat just now and seems to be good. Thanks for the video bro!
@@joshmatty1077 glad it worked out man 💯💯
@89imp03 for sure, thanks alot.
NOT A DETAILED VIDEO
MY BAD
It may sound silly, but it's true. These cars seem to want equal attention. Both mine are locked in garage together. Who knows what's going on between them.
What causes a cracked radiator? Old age? Not flushing it? Manufacturing defect? What?
I'm really not sure. The thermostat was tripping before so I went and changed that too.
Just changed mine last week piss me off
I gotta change that dog bone engine mount next and hopefully that'll be it for this car
🤦🏿♂️
