Yes, always the long version. Because more Doors is always better than less.
What fan of The Doors could possibly want the short version? It's inconceivable.
@@vania1917 Totally agree!
Yer damn right!
YAAAASSS!
Right On 👍✌
Ray Manzarek was magic on the keys
My MT.t. Rushmore of rock keyboardists: Ray, Jon Lord, Mike Pinder, Keith Emerson.
@@stevegans731 Rick Wakeman, Tony Banks, Chick Corea, Patrick Moraz, Rod Argent, Nick Mason and more!
@@reality1958 Ken Hensley R.I.P. And Dave Greenfield (also R.I.P. victim of CORONA)
One of the most distinctive players in the history of rock and roll 🤩
I really love the fact that the electric organ was such a staple in the music of the era...
Yes I did see the Doors at the Whiskey in 67. They were on fire .Sound was spectacular. When they played Light my fire it was note for note off the album. As was the set list.
_Moonlight Drive_ is a really beautiful Doors song that sometimes gets overlooked. Recommended.
I feel that crystal ship is overlooked the same way. The deep album cuts from the Doors are some of the best imo
Oh yes + as Troy Cross said Crystal Ship and I'll throw in Wintertime Love.
Ironically, one of the first songs Jim ever wrote, and somehow it ends up on the second album... Weird!
@@Sandy-dd4le pretty sure it was Robbie's tune.
@@ShamusWoosley Jim wrote it in 1965, its the song he sang to Ray on the beach when they decided to form the band.
The longer version is by far the more interesting and version that the band would have wanted you to react to!👍🏻❤️☮️🎹✌🏻🎤
@Doug Sawyer Certain Times The studio version can be the preferred version though not always in fact sometimes a live or longer version of a tune can be far superior!
Played over the years from the beginning - the magic moment when the guitar rips in still sends a shiver. We were lucky enough to be brought up on this music.
Sound of the 60's...Great time in music...
The beautiful Jim Morrison. 60's gold.
Just to fill out the story. After a day working on songs, Jim sent his band members home with an assignment: "Go home and write a song". Robbie showed up the Next Day with his song Light My Fire. It was the First song he ever wrote. It became a world wide Hit! Not bad for his first time.
No, thank you for doing the longer version. Why censor the artists vision right? And you're right, the shorter version cuts out the solo. Not good
Exactly and back in the day the radio stations were only allowed to play the shorter version!
Yes, the long version is the correct choice, featuring legendary instrumentals.
Good call doing the long version.
Psychedelic rock at its finest.
Next up on the Doors buffet please: LA Woman,
Roadhouse Blues, The End 🔥🔥🔥
My favorites!!
Boomer here, we left you all a lot of good music! Happy to see you're all enjoying them. LA Woman by The Doors is another awesome masterpiece.
"LA Woman" and "The End" and noteworthy because it's good, and highly amusing "Gloria"
Thanks Mom and Dad!! 😁
Ray Manzarek was so great, so talented. Loved your reaction to the long version, a lot of people comment on the bass player. There is no bass player, the bass is played on the Organ by Ray.
Jayy, another interesting thing about this song is that it was written by Robby Krieger, The Door's guitarist. He was 20 years old, and it was the first song that he ever wrote! Jim Morrison contributed lyrics to the 2nd verse. John and Ray added their magic, and the rest is musical history ala 1966...
No Autotune, just sheer talent! Doors 4-Ever! PS, love your lip gloss 👍
Glad you did the long version I'm sure you'd like it best!
Jim Morrison was gorgeous.Such a sad sad loss.
“5 to 1....baby...1and 5...no one here gets out alive”
Heard this song a million times, still gives me goosebumps 💛the doors
Still a fantastic driving song; makes the sun come out on a rainy day.
YES!!!
Or on a snowy day, like right now! Still have to go out to the garage and skin my deer so I can start to cut her up!
Deer season in Wisconsin ! ( wife's tablet )
I think that he's basically saying what Marvin Gaye said: "Let's get it on!"
Like someone once said: “in ‘67 the Beatles were singing All You Need Is Love. The Doors come out with Light My Fire and it’s love, but a different KIND of luuuuuuuuv!”
And Chuck Berry said I want you to play with my ding-a-ling
This song is a long rollercoaster ride thru the eternal void, nothing else compares.
Jim knew. That's why he was mad. A true poet never forgotten.
Unfortunately Jim Morrison is a member of the 27 group of rock and roll who died when they 27 years old
And there goes another legends taken away from us at 27...
This song ushered in 1967's Summer Of Love with a bang. What a Billboard Hot 100 singles chart debut!!! The short version was No. 1 for three weeks for a reason.
The guitar solo in the long version is absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing. It never gets old after 50 plus years
Another good song of theirs to react to is “Touch Me”. Preferably their live performance on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
Hahahaha YES.
Only Jim's vocal is live on that.
Of all the rock and roll bands The Doors were my absolute favorite. Still listen to their haunting melodies to this day. When Morrison died I never followed another group or performer. 💔Younger sister and I saw The Doors perform at Cal-State East LA in 1967. We sat 4h row center. I was 15, little sis was 12! An unforgettable day, a great memory and a funny story!
The Doors"" summer of 67 changed the R&R world forever
Jim was asked to change words "girl we couldn't get much higher" when they made it to Ed Sullivan show. He said he would but when they played it live, he didn't! Ed Sullivan was pissed and never invited them on the show again. Would've loved to see Ed's face when Mojo said the word "higher"!
Yes. It blew us away and stands epic today! Thanks!
😁👍✌
An "On the floor between the speakers" classic! Thanks for sharing!
First hit by the legendary DOORS . In three short years , they covered some intense stories , rocked out , and blew a few minds along the way .
He was the poet of a generation. His story and the story of the band itself is epic.
Riders on the storm, my fav...
This song was written initially by the guitar player, Robbie Krieger. But they all came together and made it into the powerhouse of a song that it is.
You should check out the movie. It's simply called "The Doors" Val Kilmer literally becomes Jim Morrison!!
The movie is very inaccurate.
@@gamingwagon14jacob50 okayyyyy but it’s a good movie.
Crap
@@carihenson8019 it’s cool for a movie but it disrespects Jim.
@@gamingwagon14jacob50 100% agree, gotta compartmentalize to watch it.
i remember my teenage and early 20's listening to the Doors while medicated, it just soothes your soul
Who in their right mind would suggest the short version??
Yeah - take the short version. No-one needs to hear the keyboard and guitar breaks anyway. Sigh.
Awesome song from the Doors you should also check Jose Feliciano's version It was just an incredible cover. It's hard to say which one is better, but Jos'e is way smoother/ Anyway LA Woman will knock you socks off
Whoa!! I reacted the same way with my Walkman headphones back in the late 80s when I first heard this song!! 💖😀👍👍😀👍💖 (I was in my teens then and the song was around 20 years old the time) I still love 60s rock though I wasn't there!😀💖
Great, fantastic super song and hit with the brilliant Lizard King Jim Morrison!!! That`s MUSIC!!!
Back in 1967 they went on the Ed Sullivan show. Before they went on the producers of the show wanted them to change the line ‘Girl, we couldn’t get much higher’ to ‘Girl, we couldn’t get much better’. They ended up singing it with the original line and were banned from the Ed Sullivan show forever.
They told them "you'll never do Ed Sullivan again" Morrison replied "We just did Ed Sullivan". Perfect!
The keyboard solo is truly a masterpiece.
Talk about a masterpiece!
It’s Monday!! Doors day ❤️
The Doors took their name from the book "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley, published in 1954, about his psychedelic experiences under the influence of mescaline which he took as part of a psychiatric experiment in 1953. So yeah, drugs are always a possible interpretation when working through Jim Morrison's lyrics.
The finest keyboard intro in history since the damn things were invented despite what Rick Beato thinks mixed with John Densmore's jazz-rock drumming, Bobby Krieger's louche sensual guitar topped off with Jim Morrison slipping in a reference to Dido of Carthage's self-emolation (upon being abandoned by Aenaes of Troy) all delivered at full throttle and you have the lightning-bolt debut of style that shaped the end of the 60s and managed to rattle establishment chains on both sides of the Atlantic, which is why The Doors are right at the top of the pile when it comes to music legends. One of the finest gifts (of many) the US gave to the rest of us. Doors forever! ❤️
Love me two times, When the music's over and Touch me. Pls
Break On Through (to the Other Side)
Jim will live for ever
ThanksbJayy for showing the Doors love
as i sit and listen i can totally see jim dancing around on stage as the instrumental plays
I'm listening to this since 1967, loved it, still do. Big Doors fan. Love me Two Times, Hello I Love You and Moonlight Drive are very very good, plus more Touch Me and LA Woman. Worth checking those out. Keep up the good work
That beat is insane!
' Light My 🔥' Great! ! Party music, especially for those summer time pool parties, at midnight.
The shorter radio edit version takes the soul from the song! Why would anybody want you to react to the shorter version? Are they short on time? Do they have somewhere else to be? Haha. They should just watch when they have time. Giving them the benefit of the doubt about that being the reason. Hate to think they're just soulless pop culture drones. Hehe :)
Remember back in the day when the radio stations were not allowed to play songs longer than 3 minutes?
They’re short on brains...just call it like it is!!
The Doors were a late 60's band but were way before their time
ALWAYS listen to the long version of songs.
❤the doors...beautiful and scary at the same time 😮
I have The Doors ear. Here's what you need to listen to:
When the Music's over
Roadhouse Blues
LA Woman
Love Me Two Times
The End
Love Her Madly
Changling
Crystal Ship
Hello, I love you
Touch Me
Moonlight Drive
Strange Days
Love Street
Unknown Soldier
.... I can go on forever. Here's just a few for starters.
Thank you so much for your reaction! I absolutely love when bands used to take their time in the name of great music...
Great Jam, glad you like it! You look beautiful, hair is 🔥mama! 💕
OMG , love you sister. Aren't the Doors great 😍😍😍 a rabbit hole you should go down xxx
Pillar in music history right here, Masterpiece
A bit of info: when the Doors played on Ed Sullivan they were asked to change the word higher( they didn't) But I think it's basically a love song.
Great day for some doors music thanks for sharing 👍
Nice job with the Doors! Great stuff.
Very fun to play drums along with drummer John Densmore and listen to Robbie, Ray and Jim.
They cut the shorter version (cut the solo out at the 2:02 mark and came back into the song at the 5:53 mark) for radio play. At first the Doors were against it but after the song hit #1 they weren’t too upset lol. They knew they still had the long version on the record.
I wonder what Jayy would think about "The End" ??
I wonder 🤔🤔🤔🤔😨😨😨😨
Or When The Music's Over.
Mind Blower!!!
Jim will always remain one of the greatest frontmen ever, but... Here... Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore gave the best of their best
The change up around 6:10 is epic. The Doors are awesome.
That was spectacular, big Doors fan. Moonlight Drive, Love me Two Times and Hello I love You are very very good. Worth reacting to.
Such a beautiful Reaction!
Good instinct, going with the long version. The instrumental heart of the song has a great groove. The live version from The Ed Sullivan Show is much shorter, but it's historic and a must see performance.
4 great musicians..
Interesting story about this song. When they performed this song on the Ed Sullivan show, TV was still highly censored, and because they thought it was a drug reference the Sullivan show people told them they couldn't say the word higher, they had to change it. When the rest of the guys in the band said what are we going to do how are we going to change it? Jim Morrison told them " F it!! We're not changing a thing;" and so when they sing it live on the show, they DIDN'T, and when they left the stage, the stage manager screamed" you DID it you said HIGHER!! You'll NEVER do the Ed Sullivan show AGAIN!!" To which Jim Morrison as only he would do said to the guy " we just DID Sullivan man!!"
You had the biggest smile on your face for the whole song. I know you enjoyed it. An all time classic!
Not sure if you're looking for any others but I've seen a few others recommend Roadhouse Blues, that's definitely a good one. Another song that doesn't get enough attention is Five to One.
"Light My Fire" -- the perfect tune for fireworks on July 4th. It's also the epitome of mid-Sixties Psychedelia -- a great amalgam of Classical, Jazz and Spanish influences (Robby's guitar). Kick on the strobes and fire up the overhead projector for a liquid light show and then get lost in the sound. THANKS for playing the extended version! I've always dug "You're Lost Little Girl" (The Doors). Ray Manzarek (RIP) Jim Morrison (RIP)
I love this song and it was cool watching you let the music grow on you as you listened.
ONE OF THE BEST EVER
1967 ... this is the song that got the doors banned from the ed sullivan show... producers wanted the line "girl we couldn't get much higher" changed since it was a drug reference... instead of changing the line jim morrison emphasized it .
These guys were my favorite and first band I listened to growing up. Just rock icons and monsters. I remember them just pushing the music as far as they could even getting into trouble for it. Starting riots at concerts, sex, drugs, and music. Maybe that explains my problem with authority haha
My dad and brothers used to listen to the doors all the time, especially this song. This one is better than the first one. And they play their music like they are still teenagers, full blast. 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖
Check out the song “The Soft Parade”. The beginning is kind of odd but the last part of the song is the Doors at their best.
Great suggestion. Love the variety and unconventional structure of the song.
Totally underrated and overlooked, in my opinion. Great recommendation.
Great to see you really getting into The Doors, Jay. My favourite American band of all time. The long version of "Light My Fire" is the ONLY one to listen to. You should check out "Roadhouse Blues", "Break On Through", "Moonlight Drive", "L.A Woman"...they have so many great songs.
One of the greatest songs of all time. Please do Grand Funk Railroad's Inside Looking Out, live version!!! :)
When their producer played them the edited version that was going to be released as the single, they did cringe and object, but in hindsight Manzarek is on record saying it was the right call.
Still, when I was a kid in College Station, Texas in 66 there were stations that would play longer tracks, usually at night. This was before FM Sstations really caught on--Rock music was AM radio all the way, baby! And with AM you could get stations after dark from a long way off. At night I would listen to WLS out of Chicago, WNOE out of New Orleans, and some others I can't recall at this late date. WCKY was another but I don't remember its city.
KTSA out of San Antonio would play the long version of In A Gadda Da Vida every night.
Fond memories...
Thank you for the original, LONG version... THAT, is the California convertible "I'm on acid, how did i get here!?" song...
Javy? ... you rock ! loved looking at your pretty face reacting to the music 🌟🤩
Love her OPEN MIND!
Love that organ solo it’s so good
Great song and great reaction, loved it!
Hi J., 'So smart for doing the long version; great that you can appreciate it! Jim Morrison, being the singer and not playing any instruments, isn't it amazing that when you were hearing all that music, it was only 3 guys playing?! - Brooklyn Mike
Yes good choice
He can light my fire anytime
My favorite Doors song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
