This was filmed 54 years ago Jim.died 51 years ago...Almost to the day. Yet the music lives on. It ain't over yet.
The strange ones will hopefully always stumble upon them
Great song no matter what but the black and white live in Europe version is so ominous and haunting best version easily
He was a one of a kind, and so missed
Morrison was savage. No better front man than him. 🤘
@@MamaGator As I did.
My very first concert experience was the Doors in the spring of '67, I was just 15 and it was a life altering experience.
How lucky were you!!!!!! I did see the original wall concert pink floyd when I was 16 at the nassua colassium in NY. But would trade places with you in a minute
@@chris882211
I saw the Wall concert too. It was cool.
Do you have social media ?
He lived 100 years in just 6 short years. He is and always will be the BEST!!!
Can't help but think how music would be if Morrison, Joplin and Hendrix didn't die. Long live the music.
@Let Your L⚡️GHT Forever Shine ❤️ you just didn't
Probably just get ignored by most of the young people! Unfortunately
@@MikeB12800 More like they only know the members of the "27 club."
@@MikeB12800 Probably not, they're pretty popular with young people actually. Maybe that's amongst my music nerd friends though.
He was something else, you never knew what was going to happen when Jim was on stage.
It wasn't just a concert: it was a séance.
Hollywood Bowl being in Los Angeles- a Monster as well, your right on both counts...
"What have they done to the earth? What have they done to our fair sister? Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her..Stuck her with knives to the side of the Dawn..Tied her with fences and Dragged her down".. I think that Walt Whitman wrote those lyrics...
I think you nailed it when you said he had a look on his face like he knows something no one else knows. I think maybe he did.
He was tripping his brains out ,likely !! Read "No One Here gets out alive". I read it when it first came out, around 40 yrs ago
And he was so fucking high here! 🤣
I love that you're digging The Doors! They're not for everyone! Great reaction, keep em coming!!
@Let Your L⚡️GHT Forever Shine ❤️ yes, this. But lyrically a lot of people have a hard time getting around their overall strangeness and poetry that’s mixed with all that, and then there’s Jim’s overall performance vibe. Usually the sort people scared to be introspective and existential think of them as being overrated or bad.
Awsome !.MUST see the vid of live doors in .New Haven where Morrison grabs the cop in Front of the Stage's Hat and throws it out onto the Crowd ! youve probably seen it but this shows Back when MUSIC was still REBELIOUS ! and scary for the ESTABLISHMENT Until M TV Tamed that animal !
Jim was definitely rebellious he could cause a riot he has control of the crowd at any time he wants.
Jim was wrong. That was not The End, only a beginning…
Poetry at its best! The lizard King!
Jim Morrison is one of my favorite singers, songwriters, performers of all time.
The Doors. What a band! Jim Morrison - surely the greatest front man EVER!!
Krieger was such a unique guitarist.
Is
Younger sister and I saw The Doors at Cal state - east LA in 1967. We sat 4th row center. To see Jim leap off the platform and land writhing and convulsing on the floor was something else. He did know something we didn't know. He studied crowd control. Little sis was 12 and I was 15! A great concert and a very lasting impression.
This song is more relevant now than it was back in 1968. We want the world 🌎 & we want it …. NOW!!!
'he made every single moment count' is good insight...one thing that made him special was his ability to truly live in the present, as if the end was always near...
When The Music’s Over - Turn Out The Lights!
When we have young people like you Pope...THE MUSIC IS NOT OVER
He’s singing about how we’re destroying our Mother Earth.
The doors are one of the most gifted bands to ever exist. Thank you for giving them credibility.
That persian night, see the light part gives me chills
Almost sounds like he’s referring to a nuclear holocaust and then says “Save us! Jesus!”
Jim was on acid during this performance as were half the crowd. Oh what a night.
You channeled your inner Jim in this one Pope! 💜
Good name for a band-Inner Jim 🚀🤪🤡
The original Rock/Jazz Fusion Band, and the best! 😎 Iconic!
God,what a man, Singer, performer, poet, boozer the greatest entertainer ever!!!!
You nailed it… sharp eye on the review… he was inconsistent, but when morrison brought the goods, there was no other performer who brought this level of tension. He could take you out and back in, tip toeing right on the edge. His voice here was also pitch on. In ‘68, the doors were prime potent.
Before there was Robert Plant, there was Jim mesmerizing us on stage (one in tight leather & the other in tight denim)! Two of the greatest talents in Rock!!! We all still know where we were when we heard go Jim's passing, just like with John Lennon it is burned into our memories, RIP Jim & Ray... your music will never be over...
Betsey R - Before there was Robert Plant there was Steve Marriott. Plant freely admits he didnt just want to sing like Marriott, he wanted to BE Steve Marriott!!
Jim Morrison died before I knew about him when I was 15. I came aware of him at 15 and I DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD DIED. But I instantly loved his voice, his music, his passion. I'm sad we don't know what else he would have done. Such a talent. Such a loss.
You can tell Jim was bombed out of his mind(when wasn't he? Lol) but to still sound so good is incredible
He was flying on acid and whiskey. I love this concert.
@@darlahays2471🤪🙃😵💫🤡🚀
Morrison was such a channel for the year 1968 here. Everything going on that year ..mlk assination, Vietnam, the city riots, the campus uprisings, all the turmoil was channelled into Doors music in 68 particularly.
I was lucky enough to meet Ray Manzarek (the keyboard player for the doors) back in 2001 in NYC. He was performing on the piano with Jim Carrol (author of basketball diaries) who did spoken word poetry over Ray’s piano playing. Didn’t know what to say to him..I was humbled in his presence lol
That’s really freaking cool
@@rachaelmarrero8597 yeah..he signed my cd. I had brought his solo album “the golden scarub” with me. I got my ticket stub signed, and the cd booklet.
So believe it or not… this man was terrified to sing in front of people before the band really got big. Key indications are the stiffness initially until he feels comfortable and how often his eyes are closed. But seriously, good for you for even finding this masterpiece.
"Monster on stage" Nice way of putting it. Dionysus returned to life for a while.
"
I remember listening to the Doors in high school. I think I was 16 when this came out. Saw them on The Ed Sullivan Show, back then there were no music videos. American Bandstand, The Midnight Special, Shindig, Hullabaloo, etc. we’re the only places we could see the latest dances and fashion and see the latest musicians. You had to have a stereo system to play the LPs. You got this 70 year old head banging with you 😅🎸❤️☮️👵🏼
It's the best live concert footage of The Doors we have. They had plans for this one but the venue and the gods went against them. They had planned to sound blast the Bowl with all those stacked Marshall's but the brass told them on the day if it went over a certain volume they would pull the plug....so they only used a handful of them. Then they got done on the lighting. And Krieger's guitar volume was stuck on 2 for the entire gig. And Jim dropped acid backstage.....his f***** you, I guess. All in all it is a pretty intense gig. A 7/10. A 9/10 if one is tripping though. 😂
Iconic modern shaman
You are correct. If they were allowed to use all their Marshall amps they would have been heard in downtown LA.
You hit it right on the head, man! He really seemed to be above it all. He walked on stage like he knew he was in charge. The King, the performer, the Star. He knew it. The man was also a fine poet and wrote most of the songs. You can (and should) get the 2 last books of his poetry, published after his death : "Wilderness" and "The American Night". Some songs are included .
Love this. I was born in 1969 and was a huge Doors fan when I was 11 years old. Jim Morrison died in 1971 so a lot of people did not get it. There was no social media and all that. I am floored people this man's age get into the Doors. I was told I was too young to be a Doors fan and I never got that. I have see some reaction videos where people say "the right thing". This young man clearly gets it and enjoys the Doors.
The social media can be bad, okay, and great a times. This is great!
I think next time you should react to "Light My Fire" at the same Hollywood Bowl 1968 concert.
This is their most famous hit!
Thanks for reactions 🔥🔥🔥
The brutha could work a stage and work the crowd.... Total Madman Genius. The whole band were amazing musicians, they were all about a funky, psychedelic groove. Hypnotic even.
The Doors are definitely stunning musicians!
Love your reaction. There's a couple of songs you should listen too peace frog, Texas radio and the big beat, five to one
All of the doors songs are great.
Nothing like Jim ,
Jim Morrison lyric
There will never be another like you.
Yes jim, your right there never has never will be.
Remember, Morrison dropped two hits of acid before the show, unbeknownst to the rest of the band. Dionysus walked among us.
I'm glad u get the vibe of the doors the whole band, the chemistry they had can't be replicated. But it's amazing to see people still enjoying their music. I was born after the doors era but thanks to my dad I have good taste in music. Let me rectify, we have good taste in music.
Jim Morrison was a king born into this world ❤ and taken way to soon
Hey Pope I think you were born out of time . the 70's would be perfect for you.
Excellent reaction! You are plugged into The Doors like I was as a teen in the late sixties and still am to this day. So iconic and relevant at any age!
Theyre masters of dynamics
Your an empath!! Take care of your heart and soul. Beutiful one 🥰.
The best rock band ever
💯
In this same show Jim was on acid, a couple of hours before, he met Mick Jagger in L.A
Jagger came to him asking for some advice on performing on stage.
Tripping out of his head on acid while doing the Hollywood bowl, sure you’d have to respect him for that alone 🦎👑
Gotta love how Jim smiles after saying "shhhh" its very endearing and the whole song is such a trip with his phenomenal story-telling. The rest of the band is excellent too with the different variations to pull the story along :D great reaction Pope!
Great point- many lyrics were of the oral tradition of story telling, achieving greatness.
❤ you really have such a kindness about you and open minded to all music !
I've never seen this performance before. Thanks for sharing. That scream literally knocked you out of your seat.... beautiful.
The story goes that Jim took way too much acid before this concert. 😆
Plus his usual 25 drinks. How do they do it? Look at Keith! He's 80!
Oh the magic carpet ride with the Doors
Jim looks so young in this
Rokken.
Right on, Senor Pope.
Hey Pope! Hope you had a great holiday weekend. THE DOORS❗❗❗🔈🔉🔊
Happy Birthday
They are High As F***, Love It.....
Comedian Steven Wright on guitar.
Love me two times - Europe 1968 is a good live one to watch it starts with some poetry from Jim and then goes into the legendary song
This is the stuff legends are made of young Buck ✌️🙏🤘
Performance art at its best. Think I appreciate it now more than back in the day. Thx!
Wasp/behind the wall of sleep. By black sabbath trust me your gonna like it. Also its the 9 minute one
I love it when people feel music. Just love it. ❤️
Man now the energy of Jim Morrison's voice and from the Doors blew you straight out of your chair💺🪑🔥. The music seems to affect you just as much as it did us in the 70s. I think it clears your head too. Best Reaction! Greetings from Germany and stay safe.
The Reverend Morrison at his best.
You do indeed get it . Try Soul Kitchen and Back door man. Jim did know something that everyone else didn't know and he lived it. Happy to see you recieved his gift.
This is the best reaction of all you fuckin tube. Rock it man
At the beginning of the song, Morrison accidently disconnected the wire from the microphone and produced no singing sound for several stanzas. The is why he is signaling with his hand to the sound crew. They were able to add his voice in post production using computer voice approximation.
I love seeing someone get just as much into them as I did back in the day! My brother hates them and I can't understand why!
Word is, Jim had dropped some acid just before this show. Always a pleasure to watch/listen to this gem. Thank you for your reaction to my all-time favorite band. ✌
The real deal. Eat your heart out Mick and Robert.
Even if you never react to it , you should check out An American Prayer , an album ofJims poetry .
Classic DOORS ❤
They were so tight!
His daddy was an admiral in Vietnam.
I imagine growing up at the dinnner table with the stone-faced and very stern admiral...
Jim had a bigger admiral than his father
Dude i'll ve watching every the Doors reaction, keep it going!!!
Great video man, these guys were unique back in the day, they have so many good songs and iconic live performances
Love and peace my dude
The live version of the Soft Parade is really good I know you reacted to the studio one but the live one may even better
The fall at 11:08 had me laughing my ass off!
He was beautiful
That's how you listen to the doors.let the music and the lyrics move you!!✌☮
Used to play this on the piano but couldn't quite get the 100% metronomic quality of Ray Manzarek's bass line!
Best Reaction Video of all time!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Master performer. Kenny Loggins learned from Jim. My brother was at this show, Hollywood Bowl. Rock on.
I was there as well, right of center stage
Believe it or not, this was a pretty tame performance. Great response, Pope!
HOLY WOW!!! BEST REACTION!!! to THE BEST freakin performance EVER!!! Ahahaha **Burp** freakin **Masterful** its what i would have done Ha gawd luv em man & i could freakin tell he was NOT havin it & was gonna do something ha dint know exactly what cuz i have NEVER seen this before but man that was **Perfection** indeed ppl shoulda known dont F with **The Lizard King** Ha **Luvit** & yes ya described it in another video as a **Sermon** yes or as someone said below seance just WOW & My man **Manzarek** whew Fire & the guitar just ALL of it damn **Gorgeous**
that's probably my favorite song of the Doors. Since saw it live, did you notice there's no bass player? Manzarek plays bass with his left hand on the organ
Sin lugar a dudas tu reacción es la mejor de todos los tiempos hermano😂😂😂👍👏👏👏👏
😂😂
Very cool, how you get it!!! Your reaction and synopsis were brilliant!!
Good comments. You get it.
Jim was heavily dosed here and rather subdued for him. The doors had dinner with a little known rock band B4 the show by the name of the Rolling Stones lol. (realtalk) Jim was probably peeking watching the love of his life (Pam) sitting on Mick Jagger's lap during the show lol. Good Times. 🎶🕉
☮💜☯️🎵
Amazing performance!
Plz watch the whole concert live at the bowl 68 it’s worth it friends
I play guitar and I can sing the Doors. But since their keys were so prominent I've rarely played a Doors song. But I karaoke the hell outta them
"Cancel my Subscription to the Resurrection, send my Credentials to the House of Detention, I've got some friends inside"
So the story is that Mick Jagger was in the audience and had given Jim acid earlier in the day. That why this performance is a little tamer than normal for Jim.
One of the absolute greatest reactions to this jam that I have ever seen.
So intense..
U can't look away
I saw the doors in 1967. Stil my favorite. The poster of Jim that hung in my room at 14 still hangs in my living room at age 71
Crazy he had that voice at 25
Technically he was 24 at this time but that's just semantics.
