Guys! That's the point of being here early, at 360p, you can't tell which camera is which so that means it doesn't matter which camera you buy! Boom! All your camera evaluation problems are solved.
A little reminder that the ALEXA (classic) is 4:4:4 (most people used 10bit ProRes) 2K.
Love my bmpcc 4k I got recently but even moreso now watching that small bit of it makes me even more thankful for it

Tried them all.. Pocket is by far the best bang for the buck. I wouldn't spend more money unless it was for the UMP G2, or to jump up to a used Arri or C500ii at the $15K range..
@PRIVATE 100% agree... My UMP, C200, and RED 6K all sat collecting dust the minute the BMPCC came into the picture. After 6 months, they went the way of Ebay.. The BMPCC4K is Fast, portable, has an easy workflow, and great built-in mics where we can hook up an H6 as external audio for documentary style shooting.
The only place I think the Red beats everything else is if you are really color grading hard. No one here tries to push the image to something like "Once upon a time", or other heavily edited films. If you add in more than 2 nodes and push contrast/saturation/etc more than 30-40% in resolve you'll break the 12 bit image from the BM cameras. You can't do that with a RED. The Arri on the other hand only retains an advantage in smoother highlight rolloff - which can be copied by the RED, but requires a bit more to the workflow
Of course.. all of these are miniscule differences at best, especially if you're just delivering to REC709 or anything that's just mildly graded.

I would really see side by side comparison on the set shots cause you can't really compare camera A and B if that's not the same thing in the frame. Moreover the portrait shot from set shot looks epic on Movo LF and I would definitely would see how it compare to the S1H in this particular situation (0:24)

Hey Spencer, thanx for the test. The standard rec 709 lut coupd be a bit conservative. Most of our clients use the ettl+1 lut that basically forces you to underexpose by one stop. If you want to test this new lut.. Please reach out. Have a greag day!

They all look good. Mavo LF especially. However I do not think you had the Ursa mini In focus at all.
It’s weird. It was. I think the lens was just softer that wide once I punched in.

Good to see you talking about the Mavo LF since I wanted to buy it, so yeah, I definitely want to see more about it . Your videos are one of the best content of fillmmaking, but as long as I’m aware the LF is large format and it’s a bigger sensor than a full frame.
The Mavo LF has a 36x24mm sensor. Which is exactly full frame.
Please, PLEASE have a try with the Zcam !

Could be my preconceived notions but Panasonic seems a bit clinical while the Kinfinety looks more organic. But not sure it’s a $10,000 improvement.

Close ups are look good on almost every camera this days, but you can tell the difference if you put them side by side when shooting landscape shots

I'd love to see a full review of the Mavo. Also a more in depth comparison of the Mavo and the Ursa would be amazing. I own the ursa and I'd really love to know how they stack up in a direct comparison. Especially in terms of dynamic range.
Pocket 4k is still the best bang for the buck, and no compromise on image quality and post production options.

Do you have an explanation about how you applied REC.709? Did you do that in camera or during post with a lut designed for the camera? (I'm still on a 5Dii, 60D, 70D, just trying to do the best with what I own.)

Your main talking head shot video part is kind of yellow in the saturation of the video. Is there any way to get rid of that hue in post? Or were you using different colored light bulbs in the shot?

one point: no moire on S1H footage! Actually to eliminate moire you can choose FF3 olpf for mavo lf, you can also choose rawlite olpf for BMD cameras.

The S1H has a magenta tint in the skintones, even when you color matched it with the other three cameras, it kept thant slight magenta tint.
The Panasonic LUT really pushes the magenta but if I do the color myself, I don’t have many issues with the magenta.
could also be that the other 3 cams miss some magenta, they seem very greenish/yellow...

S1h does not look magenta but natural in the skin tones. White people look pinkish not yellowish like with all those other cameras

How do you get rid of video Banding when videos are compressed in the youtube codecs, Facebook does this too and Instagram of course.

Thanks for doing a more real world use case of these cameras cutting together & using them in a scene. Getting a little tired of static macro tripod shots of flowers a lot of other videos seem to shoot to showcase the image quality lol! Would love to see a comparison between the MAVO LF & the Z Cam E2-F6 if you ever manage to get your hands on one! A 'budget vs pro' full frame, if you will.

The real comparison would be bmpcc6k vs zcam e2 f6.
I think zcam is not getting credit for it's quality just because of post processing software. If you can put them side by side and show people how good zcam is , it would be great

but i would recommend buying the S1H because the price difference can’t justify the little better quality. and there is a reason that netflix approved that camera.

yes you are right. netflix approved the following settings of the s1h:
resolution, codec, color space: 4k, 422, 10 bit, all-i 400 mbps, v-log
sensor size: full rame or s35 only. you just cant use other settings

and I think most of the time want to have the best footage you can? This is a great option for student films and small budget options👌🏻

@@doganb34 Mavo LF have about 12.7 stops of DR (better in low light), Ursa Mini Pro 12.6 (better in highlights), S1H is 12.7 (maybe the same sensor as Mavo LF?), Pocket 4K is 11.6, Pocket 6K is 11.8. Alexa Mini is 14. Mavo LF have very good image quality... but DR and Rolling Shutter make that you can't call this camera professional cinema cam.
Get your eyes checked!
Is it just me? or did the pocket retain more of the image. The mavo looked a little blown out.
Congrats for your channel! I would like to know how do you feel the "motion cadence" of th S1H is it as cinematic as the others? BTW, in this video I prefer how the Mavo looks. It might be the less appealing lights in the background when shooting with the sh1. Maybe it handles worse the highlights.
