Just watching as I type this so maybe you'll cover it anyway but my most used feature on the GH5 is to assign focus lock to the front function button. Put the camera in MF, point at your subject and hit that function button. It focuses faster than AF and locks in, to be overridden by the focus ring when needed. This trick is particularly useful when talking to camera. Hold the camera out in front of you and that function button is easy to hit before hitting record. I used this as a workaround to the GH5's dodgy AF but now I use it all the time, always stay in MF and never miss a shot. I'm loving your clips on the S1H because it's a beast of a camera. My only concern is the size for vlogging. I moved from FF to m43 for this reason but miss the low light capabilities. Keep up the great work.
Constant preview being off gives a more DSLR-like experience, which can be good for a lot of people switching to mirrorless. I have constant preview on a shortcut button on my GH5.

I'm glad to hear you hate 24p! It has to be the worst invention ever. People keep telling me it is what your eye sees but I have never seen blurry, stop motion with my eyes. I think it is a bunch of propaganda!

But the reason I was motivated to comment today is how excited you are about discovering the cinema info and control screen on the S1H. I kid you not, I just discovered it’s usefulness myself on the GH5 after owning it for a year. It’s an amazing feature that just has NO EQUAL in video shooting found in any other prosumer cam (e.g. BMPCC 4K/6k, ZCam, etc). Eureka!
the waveform monitor being set to one of the top function keys can help easily measure levels in the foreground and background and provides a ton of live information that may help expose better than the exposure meter tool.
I just got a Ronin RS3 gimbal. I can't get the bluetooth to detect my S1H. Any tips for troubleshooting connection issues? I have checked to make sure the newest firmware... restarted... disconnected from my LUMIX synch app and still can't get the gimbal to connect to my camera. HELP.

@@RJinspire If you really wanted to go small then you could get a Sony X3000 or GoPro. But M50 gives you more flexibility and can be used as a studio cam when you're not travelling too. There should be some good deals on the M50 if you get it used. i bought the GH5 for £2500 with 3 lenses, but I use it more as a studio cam with occasional outdoor filming. It's not what I would choose to take backpacking with me.
Hello, I'm shooting mov in V-log 4K 10bit video format. It opens only as an audio file in QuickTime and Davinci resolve. I can see the same file as image when I drag it to Adobe premier What is the reason of this?

Another tip is you can program your button just by doing a long press. But the big update is high frame rate mode. Where VFR records in 8-bit with no audio or autofocus, HFR mode records 10-bit and it lets you record 1080p at 120 fps with audio and autofocus! You have to do the slowdown in post, but all the frames are there.
As a former 25 year Sony shooter, I friggin' LOVE the S1. There is only one thing I would it could do. When running under auto shutter or auto iris or auto gain/ISO....the S1 HIDES what settings it is using. Sony's never do that. Sony's will always show what auto parameter it is using at the moment in real time. C'mon, Lumix,....stop covering that info up and just display it for us! Great video!
I have a question, do you have tip for picture profile on nikon Z6. For concert videos, wb etc, (best filming in flat or neutral)? :) To do not too much color grading after, i film in 4K/30 and 25. Sh1 is for when i can make pro videos, in some years lol Greets.
You actually don't need the VFR mode on the S1H, it's my favourite part. The S1H allows you to record up to 120 FPS with audio in the 4:2:0 10 bit h265 codec which you then interpret down to 24p in your NLE. - [FHD] 1920x1080 119.88p, 150Mbps (4:2:0 10-bit LongGOP)* If you want over 120 then you'l have to downgrade but when you can get 120p 10bit why would anyone go beyond?

I'm a recent convert from Sony. Got the S5 and I'm loving it so far. I got the camera for photography because of their super res mode, 6k/4k photo and most importantly the live composite mode. I'm just scratching the surface on this camera.

Hahaha, yeah it is a beast to carry, I remember how heavy it felt compared to my A7III w/24-105 f/4 when I tested the S1h in August. But for all those features and the built-in cooling fan there had to be a trade-off somewhere. It's still lighter than my old A77II with the battery grip installed, so that's a win right?
@koma yes, yes I do, I want a flippy screen, 4k 60, 10bit 4:2:2, full frame, good reliable autofocus, good low-light performance, good battery life, at least 2 UHS-II slots, and under 5lbs. That's not too much to ask right?
@@KeithsTVHD1 Very much. I'm massively impressed by how well aligned to video this is, rather than it feeling like a bolt-on. No need to wade through menu options that aren't relevant to you. Lots of well thought-out features and little touches. It does't have the quick and sure autofocus of the Canon, but I knew that in advance and it's not a deal-breaker.

It can also shoot 1080p @ 120fps with sound and AF ( please search it in codecs lineup FHD options) Love the camera!

I mean it’s pretty big, if you are used to big cameras with iffy autofocus then go for it. But I will stick with my GH5 if weight is an issue 👍

Is your camera in NTSC or PAL mode? Be sure to back up sd cards before switching or you may find difficulties locating footage
