      i don;'t think it's possible to slag off Yates. The guy was a champion for years, and he's still very down to earth and humble. What more can you ask for?

    I love his advice. I’m 58 and have been training for 35 years but I’m always open to learn and try something new. I love to train hard and actually started using his high intensity training routine. I workout by myself so I push myself to failure the best I can on that last set of each exercise. I never usually take training advice from enhanced bodybuilder’s but I think his style of training can work for naturals also. It’s all about trial and error to find out what works for your body . I have been going heavy again and I definitely increased my strength and size the last 2 weeks. It helps being on vacation right now. 💪

    What does your training routine look like? How many sets/reps, how long rest periods are used, What and when do you eat? How's the "time under tension"? Alot of factors that must be monitored to get the results you want!

  • @kyozaki9838
    @kyozaki9838 11 років тому

    There's two types of hypertrophy, one which promotes more muscle tissue growth and strength (myofibrillar) and another which fills the muscles with fluid increasing their size (sarcoplasmic). Myofibrillar is achieved with low leps and heavy weight, sarcoplasmic is achieved with high reps with low weight. Sarcoplasmic builds size but doesn't increase strength like Myofbrillar does, perhaps you've been going for myofibrillar hypertrophy (emphasis on strength), but it builds size with time anyway.

    also has to do with your diet as in are you consuming enough macro nutrients to refuel your muscles?

  • @Murderofself
    @Murderofself 11 років тому

    haha, time under tension my friend: more reps, focus on negatives and peak contractions, increase intensity-supersets, drop sets etc, eat more ( eat more accordingly to your macros), rest-sleep 6-8 hours per day, take 1 day off per week, do less cardio (but do not eliminate it). this is in a nut shell.

    Doing weighted ab isolation exercises will make your abs thicker, bodybuilders dont want this because it will create an illusion that your shoulders arent as wide, a perfect upper body would be big, wide shoulder and a narrow abdominal section.

  • @ZENEAHYEAHYEAH

    you get stronger by lifting more weight for fewer reps, lets say hit failure at 3-5 reps,
    you build muscle by lifting a bit less weight for more reps, and increasing the time under tension, lets say do 12-15 or even up to 20 reps.

    You have to put in A LOT of work to get size increases with abs. Ignore what BS magazines tell you, they are actually a small muscle and even when you work them don't get that large. The best way to produce great looking abs is to lower your body fat with diet and exercise. Look up drew baye, he has won body building competitions where people commented on his great looking abs, but he did no ab exercises to prove a point. Trust me everyone has great abs, they just need to lower BF to reveal it.

This made it easier for Devan overcome his muscle building plateau and thus gain toned lean body mass without fat fast. I hope it will work for you also.
