    Not sure if somebody already said it but for our 6 ton mini we trailer with the ditch bucket. Flip the 24” on its side and set one side of the ditch bucket so when you flip it up right it’s sitting in the ditch bucket 90 degrees to how it would couple. Then take your 12” and have it face the opposite way of your 24” and a little muscle work and you can interlock the 12” into the 24” since they are facing each other teeth to teeth, and you can carry all 3 buckets on the machine, back to a remote work area etc. our thumb will trap them so to be honest I don’t even tie them up on the trailer and just haul them in the ditch bucket trapped by the thumb.. That’s kinda how we found works for us.

    12" buckets suck for footings ! But as long as you heed the advice of "King perfect" dirt and only fill the bucket halfway.. you're good ! Lol... seriously though excellent job ! Brandon

    I'm really pleased for you - this is a big cut above the old machine. I just knew you'd fall in love with that nice front angle blade - it is so useful. I could see you getting more and more comfortable over the time you took to do this job. Now, don't you DARE stick that thing into any sewers for at least a couple weeks!

    I have helped a man dig footings on occasion for 10-15 years now, if I may pass on a few tricks we use that you may like to try. When he lays out his lines for digging, he uses powdered lime and puts the line down with a cup; its the same deal with the paint but is way more visible on the dirt. The second one is when we have to cross the footing with the concrete trucks, we go ahead and dig them out and fill them with gravel where the truck has to cross. Now this is a bit of a pain at times for us because he does an engineered gravel footing system (we don't have solid soil always and this allows us to do so with minimal concrete); after we get the footing to height, we do the rebar and then he covers the whole thing with gravel; the pain of it is, the ditch will break a bit from the truck and you have to hand shovel all the gravel out down to the rebar saddles with dirt and all collapsing on it- but you don't have that problem, just don't put in the rebar and use the machine to take the gravel out right before you set up to pour. Some things to try if you want, and you can use the gravel you take out as base for the driveway.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  5 років тому

      Ohh Paul thanks I appreciate that. I like the powder lime idea. I just do the digging for the concrete guys but that is a good idea on digging out the ditch and filling with rock. Thanks again

    Build a 'pallet system' for hauling your buckets and have it fixed where it can be maneuvered with any bucket the machine may have attached at the moment. And design it so the 'system' can be picked up from any side without getting off the machine to do the hookup/attaching, maybe using stiff cables.....just a thought.

    Awesome , awesome ! Very nice Brandon i'm happy for you. Why would they decide to put a slab on that lot that seems crazy to me ! They are going to have way more invested in retaining wall and hauling off the excess than just pouring a basement. Redi-rock would work great on those walls though. Also I'm with you on the 12" bucket they are a pain to dig footings with no room for error and its like a baby spoon full every time. I've always thought the angle blade would just be added expense but it appears it's worth the cost, looked like it worked pretty slick. Sorry i rambled on and on. Thanks for the update.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  5 років тому +1

      Top Notch Excavating LLC thank you! It is really a joy to run. Me and the concrete guy were discussing that the whole day. They will have more money in those walls and hauling off the 130 loads of dirt than they would in a basement. Not to mention they are not going to have a useable yard. The 12” bucket is going to drive me nuts I can tell. The angle is definitely handy and I think it ended up being about $1800 they originally told me $4500. You are more than welcome to come down anytime and try it out. Thanks again

      Brandon knew how much the old one could take. The new one has a learning curve. I bet he spends twice as long warming it up before he even starts working it.

    So in a nutshell tiny buckets equal tiny load but big buckets produce sizable loads. Question: do you feel like you have more control over the new coochie? Loved the bucket view of the blade in action.
