It doesn't get that first scan to say it was collected/dropped off so you don't get proof of postage. It won't be scanned until inward sorting at the mail centre by which point its been chucked in a van with all the mail and parcels that's in process of being delivered then thrown in a sometimes overflowing sack or cage in the delivery office so yeah plenty of opportunities for it to go missing before that first scan
The transaction fee is the payment processing fee charged by the 3rd party who processes payments just like on any selling platform or even your own website. Regulatory Operating fee is a tax charged by the government and etsy passes on part but not all of it to sellers on etsy. Yes, the way etsy shows fees is strange and over complicated.
Etsy charges a transaction fee only on payments made through Etsy Payments...there is no 3rd party. If you take payments without offering Etsy Payments you pay the transaction fee set by the individual company. Even if there was a 3rd party the charge for handling transactions via Visa, Mastercard or any other major banking organisation that is set 2.9% maximum. Etsy just likes to rip people off with their fees. The regulatory operating fee was introduced by Etsy to cover an increase in corporation tax - a tax all large businesses have to pay. Most however, do not pass this on to their clients (i.e. sellers).
@@LeftoverVenison Etsy use 3 or 4 3rd party companies to handle payment processing no you dont pay them directly etsy collect the fees but the 3rd party are paid from it etsy can not process payment themselves. I did say etsy passes on part of the The regulatory operating fee to sellers. All business expenses are passed on to customers by all companies or they should be if the business is run properly its just most dont say wat % of what you pay is to cover what like etsy do with that tax not sure why etsy do but then I am not sure why etsy do a lot of things.

Please could you do a vid about international selling? Pitfalls, shipping tips, etc?
Good idea, I'll have a think about sorting that out
I regularly put Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 into a post box and they get scanned and delivered no differently than if they were collected.
