There is no way anyone is making genuine custom pet art with that many sales unless they have a massive team of artists. It's most likely some automatic conversion process that takes the photograph to make the art.
Jordan Shaffer Once you've streamlined your process, it's actually quite easy and simple to churn out pretty high quality portraits in 30 minutes to an hour of work. something i think to keep in mind with 3d printing i think is also just the amount of time it takes to print something, it can take several hours to print something small which isnt as big a deal given you dont have to do much while its printing but its not as easily scalable as other businesses, like you'd have to get a whole extra printer just to make 1 extra unit at a time
not exactly true, as long as the object you're printing is smaller than the surface you're printing on, you can absolutely print more than one. you don't make an entire sheet of cookie dough just to cut out one cookie, and it's similar with 3d printing. once you've got the object modeled in software, you can tell your printer to print more than one at a time next to each other. It still takes longer than printing one, but you reduce the amount of time setting up and removing the object in between prints.
3D printing food safe products require more work than just printing them. Regardless of the plastic 3D printing leaves a lot of tiny layers sand voids for bacteria to grow so you'll have to coat the print with something like polyurethane or shellac. Shellac needs to be reapplied later on since it'll wear off. Polyurethane, once fully cured, is food safe and will last a very long time.

Great stuff. I especially like how you have a realistic rating system for difficulty bs the standard click-bait approach of "how to make millions on Etsy in your sleep". Thank you for the work you put into this.
I like that you’re being so transparent, so I thought I’d share two business ideas I know of via friends that I’ve never seen anyone share: - bachelorette / bachelor party decor: my friends sister made around 300-500k in her first and second year selling things like p*nis straws and other adult themes silly decorations for bachelorette parties. She buys her things from overseas in bulk and sells them in individual boxes or by individual items... she started at home and the hardest part she says is shipping everything on time... but after she got it down and so many people ordered her stuff (really basic stuff but she’s even had celebs order online) her husbands quit his job and they kee outgrown my the business warehouses they buy. It’s crazy! Baby/kids birthday cards digital templates/ my sister will get a theme in mind fir a birthday (unicorn or dinosaurs for example) and buy a template online where she can just click and update her address and kids name and print them locally at a store on nicer paper or even just at home. They’re like $3 a template and digital and easy to use but those people have like 5,000+ reviews on each birthday card design and have 30+... that’s a lot of passive income! It’s obviously easier said than done, I’m currently in need of money and watching this video so it just goes to show things are never really as passive as they seen, it takes a lot of time and research and organization and skill to get all pieces of the puzzle together to do these things and no easy feat
You're one of the most genuine youtubers I've seen! I can tell if someone is randomly giving out etsy advice just for attention/money, but you seem to really care about your audience and giving out helpful advice. Thanks Tim

Depends on the technology. I've been in Additive Manufacturing (3d Printing on the manufacturing scale) for over a decade. 3D printing has many very different technologies such as FDM (the most common form that you see for most desktop/home printers), SLA, DLP, SLS, MJF, Polyjet and more. For example, for small custom parts like a cookie cutter, a DLP machine could print in about 30 minutes (giving 10-15 minutes to prep the build plus 15 minutes to actually build). That's the least efficient way by only printing a one off by itself. Cluster a few different ones together and run at once and you can get a lot off 1 machine in a day. They aren't the cheapest machines yet as it is one of the newer techs, but that will change rapidly. It's just an example of how 3D printing isn't always SLOW :)
wow that was one of the best vids ive seen, i normally get bored with watching these, well done sir, ive got to a 100 sales but its stayed like that for the last year, so i would love to see your advice on refreshing a shop to get more sales again
J.P. Getty said to become wealthy, sell something that people consume, use up, wear out, and must buy again. The example he gave was toilet paper, even though he was in the gas and oil business. Most of these Etsy ideas are a one-time purchase. You buy the cookie cutter once and use it for 10 years. Maybe you’d use the résumé every time you changed jobs, so once every 3-5 years. I have a friend who made those fizzy bath bombs, but found most people don’t take baths as much as showers, so she switched to making shower related products. Her business got much stronger after the changeover. For the laser cutter, many libraries have the machines and will teach you how to operate and maintain them.
Good ideas, but as an embroiderer myself I had to laugh at your suggestion. It takes hours just to do a small embroidery project like those. Let alone the design aspect and translating a physical design to digital. And that is for someone like me that has been doing embroidery since I was a kid! Wouldn’t recommend it as a quick and easy income stream lol.

I'm really grateful for people like you! 😊
Hi TIm. Love your videos! 2 Questions...1. What is the name of your Etsy Store? 2. Why don't you farm out the stickers to a company and then just ship them? Thanks!
You have such a great attitude about life. What you said about always staying in the posture of a student and how most things are much simpler than they seem is so very true, Thank you .
I am considering opening an Etsy shop…but after looking at all the Etsy deductions, then the taxes and any cost of tool-related consumables like blades, etc…it seems to me that having to make a single physical item every time is a financial failure waiting to happen unless you can charge more than $50 and take less than 20 min to make one. Volume in production is the only way to succeed, ie, you start your laser cutter and let it process parts for 10 items at a time while you work on something else nearby the machine so you can still monitor it in progress.
I have a digital products shop and I currently get about 1 sale every other day (15 sales total). Almost all my sales are from 1 listing. How do I get traction with my other listings? Thanks for your videos!!
Thanks for a great view about 9 Etsy ideas. Wondering if people illustrations or painting are as big an item as pet portrait illustrations. Lots of people are using illustration conversion software, or illustrator programs, and some are doing traditional illustration techniques. Would that be a good market?
Great ideas! The Glowforge is super easy to use, though, compared to some of the other lasers... if that's the niche you wanna get into. It was literally like a money-printing machine, we couldn't keep up with orders!
A Glow Forge machine coats & 4,000 - $7000. The air filter replacement is $1300. Definitely a hefty investment. It also have a large exhaust tube, and it would need to allow air to go outside of the space you have it in.
Hi Tim! I love to hear all of your helpful tips! I’ve been thinking about starting my own Etsy shop but my biggest question is do I need to trademark my name and logo before I launch?! Or is that something I should do later on in my process? Thanks so much!
I was wondering the same thing cause you need a lawyer in most states to get a trademark and it can be a lengthy process. From what I heard you don’t need one unless you plan on having a corporation and making over a million a year over the course of 3yrs. Because it is not considered unique enough to warrant a trademark.
Hi Tim, I really like your videos and was wondering, would you say that Etsy is a market more for Americans and Canadians? I live in Europe and was thinking about maybe starting an Etsy shop but I'm unsure since I live in Europe. I guess if you sell printables it doesn't matter where you live but was thinking more of stationery and tote bags.
Here I am thinking inflation, recession, can I afford food? And people are making money online selling things that I wouldnt have imagine would make so much.. thanks for the video.
I'm proud of you so far. Atleast now I've been able to get a better home based paying job which I earn $1200 profit daily and $6500 weekly with a free mentorship program also. Thank you so much for sharing.
Well, as of now.. That first Etsy cookie cutter shop has over 100k sales! So, they make even more now. And the 3D modeling isn't as hard as people think. As long as you have the image, you can make it in less than 2 minutes!
I’m in the latter category lol Have been thinking to open store selling templates so that I can be home more with my son who has autism. However there is so much competition with those that I don’t think it’s a productive effort unlike when they first started. Cookie cutting sounds better, more unique. Am looking to volunteer somewhere so I can learn some skill 🤞
Niche business idea: Etsy competition, because Etsy has a near monopoly which they're taking advantage of and their fees are insane🤣 I'm honestly shocked Facebook hasnt made a "homemade" marketplace.

@@y2a774 so not art then … tracing lol
art is subjective so yes its art. doesn't matter if it's tracing or just coloring in something. art has a wide spectrum
@@y2a774 also you can use Photoshop to make photos to look like they're real paintings
Jordan Shaffer Once you've streamlined your process, it's actually quite easy and simple to churn out pretty high quality portraits in 30 minutes to an hour of work. Sure, as a beginner a portrait is gonna take hours and the quality is gonna suck. It's about practice, then refining it to speed up. Not that unbelievable.
I like the way that you rate everything business model on three different category. It really is very practical and easy to understand
Love the video❤️ I just started my print-on-demand journey and found Crafted Threads. They have a ton of designs and it saved me so much time. They have something in every niche. And lifetime updates too!!
I'm curious if you use other social media to drive your sales to your etsy shop. I've seen small etsy businesses blow up overnight on TikTok. Even just doing order packing videos might gain additional traffic. Just a thought.
But thank you for this video; I stalk youtube waiting for your content because I find it so valuable and inspiring. Thank you!
I like how you maintain the smile and sell Etsy to us all!!
I am making coloring pages and sold a few coloring books on Amazon KDP, but I also am now trying to put up more coloring pages on my Etsy shop as well. 😊 No sales yet but I am hopeful.
something i think to keep in mind with 3d printing i think is also just the amount of time it takes to print something, it can take several hours to print something small which isnt as big a deal given you dont have to do much while its printing but its not as easily scalable as other businesses, like you'd have to get a whole extra printer just to make 1 extra unit at a time
not exactly true, as long as the object you're printing is smaller than the surface you're printing on, you can absolutely print more than one. you don't make an entire sheet of cookie dough just to cut out one cookie, and it's similar with 3d printing. once you've got the object modeled in software, you can tell your printer to print more than one at a time next to each other.
Love the relatability factor that you plug out in the first minute.
I just found your channel, few things.
Your energy on these videos is on point, not too much, not too little. Also you are super detailed and very informative. I'm learning a ton and I'm sharing with some of the young people in my life that are at a point where they don't know what to do with themselves. This type of lifestyle gives people an opportunity to think outside the box and do something different, whether it's as a full-time or a part-time. Thank you for sharing your research and knowledge, and keep up the good work.
Great stuff. I especially like how you have a realistic rating system for difficulty bs the standard click-bait approach of "how to make millions on Etsy in your sleep".
Thank you for the work you put into this.
I like that you’re being so transparent, so I thought I’d share two business ideas I know of via friends that I’ve never seen anyone share:
- bachelorette / bachelor party decor: my friends sister made around 300-500k in her first and second year selling things like p*nis straws and other adult themes silly decorations for bachelorette parties.
Thanks Tim
Nice try with yourvOWN bot!
Just subscribed. I like your straight-to-the-point presentation, cool, calm, and collected demeanor, and your knowledge. You obviously do your research and share information in a relatable way. Thanks so much! Look forward to using this info and see what I can do on Etsy.

You fail to recognize just how SLOW 3D printers are. A shop making anything in any numbers requires a printer farm.
"I've always had a problem finding exactly what i like to do in life" Oh yeah this guy is me
I relate, too! When you have multiple interests and/or multiple skills, it can be a challenge to narrow down what you want!
Never thought to sell graphics for social media, that’s super smart! The maps are cool too, makes me wanna design stuff for specific states now.
Tim, I want to say you are such an inspiration! I've started watching your videos since you started uploading and I get a lot of encouragement from your videos and yet I still haven't started my shop haha I'll keep planning and going to your videos for a boost up! Thank you for another great video!
Taking notes 📝 hopefully I'll open my shop in 2023 🙏
Mine unfortunately requires skill, creativity and hard work. I make solid wood flower presses. I love it thou
So cool you found something you love!
A great alternative to photoshop and illustrator is Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer.
Amazing how much revenue these shops can make, very inspiring 🙏🏻
Much respect, your Ali Abdaal thumbnail game is on point.
Loved this video ! One thing you said about always learning and things might be easier than you think sometimes....like the pet portraits. I have dabbled in it a little. I have used Photoshop for years (self taught) and you really dont even have to draw these pet portraits. Learning skills on photoshop is amazing watching tutorials on UA-cam ! Great video man! I have the problem of always trying new things and not picking one and just going for it ! I just need to jump ! Haha Because one thing I have in my head might not work out but I wont know unless I try and then maybe try something else :)
LOL I love how he couldn’t keep a straight face when talking about the Instagram covers. People want it so it’s a business loll Shiet! I didn’t even know you could change icons on your tablet! This opened up a whole new world for me!
Really appreciated that you didn't do the typical ones.

I really like the way you explain everything. Very clear and understandable. I'm not an etsy seller though I have one active account there. But looking at your video made me think how fun the businesses that you showed here. Looks easy and feasible though they're not..
Such a wealth of information so well-presented. You are a very engaging speaker and so upbeat. I think I’ll give my Etsy shop a revamp and a second chance. Thanks for the inspiration, Tim!
hey, you are rly cool and the last, you having fun with try stuff out and improve urself and getting better and better is like a hobby. my heart felt warm hearing this :D
Making planners should have been on this list. Good video.
So glad I've found u! I'm planning to start my etsy shop and these are the most helpful videos I've seen
I'd love to see your takes on sometging another than buisness just because of your geniuine vibe ♥️ much love and blessings 2 u
Wow.. looking at how to expand my Etsy shop.. first one.. Cookie Cutters.. I already have a 3D printer, the right material and 3D design experience.. Thanks! I'll try it out and let you know how it goes!
And?
Another great video Tim! Staying curious and finding inspiration from unlikely sources are great practices for entrepreneurs! I really enjoyed the way you breakdown each option! I have definitely had ideas that are just not practical to pursue- gotta balance the excitement with realism😄
A few years ago when 3d printers were getting popular, I created and printed a mustache cookie cutter for a friend. I'm so upset I didn't try to make it into a business.
A great Adobe Photoshop alternative is Affinity Photo.
The pet art is digital. All you need is a digital photograph and to load it into a program like GoArt, Tangled Fx, Portrait Painter and many others
Very good video! I love how you show the breakdown of each niche! ✌️
What a video bro! Can't thank you enough! Thank you so much you made life so much easier!
For the laser printing, you can go to a supplier for that but the costs will go up.
Wow you popped up on my feeds and you're really inspiring to watch! Have subscribed! Really love how you broke all these 9 niches down and how possible it is to start an Etsy shop. I'm a beginner seller on Amazon and really enjoying what other possibilities there are on the internet to make passive income. Have watched your other videos about how you started your sticker business and what you make on youtube etc and will keep watching. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I'm really grateful for people like you! 😊
@🆆hatsapp me 𖧷⓷⓷⓻⓹⓵⓵⓸⓷⓶⓼⓻ sorry I'm abit confused. Do you mean ask for Jim using this what's app etc?
I opened my store almost 2 months ago and still waiting for my first sale.❤
why didn't i discover your channel years ago?! Your content is insane!
If ur going to get a drawing tablet, def get one with a screen. Screenless ones have a high learning curve
Thanks for sharing your research. More videos about what others are succeeding in to help give newbies a path to start would be great.
Hi TIm. Love your videos! 2 Questions...1. What is the name of your Etsy Store? 2. Why don't you farm out the stickers to a company and then just ship them? Thanks!
Interesting, do you have tutorials on how you go about all the nuisances of running an Etsy shop & the legal aspects as well?
3-d printing isn't as passive as it sounds. You have to tend to them as they run.
I appreciate you for sharing this, excellent!
YES! JUST WHAT I NEEDED, TY!!!
You have such a great attitude about life. What you said about always staying in the posture of a student and how most things are much simpler than they seem is so very true, Thank you .
Thank you for all this info. Just what I was looking for
Thanks for this great video! I’m making sticker sheets but always want to explore more possibilities.
absolutely incredible info! thank you so much
I am considering opening an Etsy shop…but after looking at all the Etsy deductions, then the taxes and any cost of tool-related consumables like blades, etc…it seems to me that having to make a single physical item every time is a financial failure waiting to happen unless you can charge more than $50 and take less than 20 min to make one.
Great informative video! Nice that you're Canadian too so you know the Canadian market. I live in B.C.
I really enjoyed your video 😊 you’re easy to watch and have a nice personality 👍🏽
Thanks Tim, really liked the idea of review raffles in other vid.
This is such a 💡 video full of ideas and possibilities..🙌🏼
Thanks for a great view about 9 Etsy ideas. Wondering if people illustrations or painting are as big an item as pet portrait illustrations. Lots of people are using illustration conversion software, or illustrator programs, and some are doing traditional illustration techniques. Would that be a good market?
I love ur videos.. just found your chanel this morning as i was drinking coffee. 😀 feeling very inspired now 😅
Staying curious . . . yes! ty, T.K.!
Damn you are such a nice human being. Love you ❤🎉
Great ideas! The Glowforge is super easy to use, though, compared to some of the other lasers... if that's the niche you wanna get into. It was literally like a money-printing machine, we couldn't keep up with orders!
how is it now? is it too saturated?
How much does it cost to get one?
A Glow Forge machine coats & 4,000 - $7000. The air filter replacement is $1300. Definitely a hefty investment. It also have a large exhaust tube, and it would need to allow air to go outside of the space you have it in.
Wow you really are passionate in researching. Thank you very informed. Wish I was more computer savvy.
Hi Tim, I really like your videos and was wondering,
would you say that Etsy is a market more for Americans and Canadians?
This is too good Tim. I love these ideas, you elaborate each very well.
**Thanks for watching👆 send a direct message at the above number for more enlightement *
Thank you for the ideas Tim!
Really interesting video. Thank you Tim. Would really like to see you reviewing some shop and give us your feedback.
I love your videos! So inspiring! Thank you!!!
THANKS A BUNCH, AMAZING VIDEO!!!
Just curious, are u still holding on your full time job?
Niche business idea: Etsy competition, because Etsy has a near monopoly which they're taking advantage of and their fees are insane🤣 I'm honestly shocked Facebook hasnt made a "homemade" marketplace.
Lucky that you didn't find the niche I'm going into, im really hyped to start because I know I will make a lot of money 🙈
good luck😊
Great list here! I wanna try these so I can make some extra money on the side (or turn it into a biz) 🙏🏽
One of the best esty videos out there!
Hi Tim, thanks for sharing all of this information, it is truly selfless and so kind(: I'm an animation artist myself and hope to soon start up my own sticker business! Finding the time to start has been quite difficult for me as I do work 2 jobs, but I want to make this business work. I'd love to see if you have any new advice on starting up an Etsy shop and time management when it come to having a side hustle. Looking forward to your future videos!
~ Monica(:
You just have to start and be ok with it taking longer since you’re already working 2 jobs. Be patient and work on your own timeline, not anyone else’s :)
Time management tips would be great. I have a small business, work a full-time job and have lots of family obligations. Its not easy at all. There's gotta be better ways of managing time to make the most of it.
@@Justin_W Yes, exactly. Maybe we need to see this as breaking in a new habit. I'm looking to try this earlier on in my day before I start my work day. This way I can make it a habit to complete some work for my business rather than looking at it as a simple task to add to the to do list. Getting everything done earlier in the day will give me more time in the evening when I have free time. I hope this makes sense. Wishing you well on your journey!
@@TimKoa Thanks a bunch Tim, I never looked at it as working on my own timeline. I will definitely take this advice (:
@@1996monicasantos Hopefully this will work and be a breakthrough for you! I'm looking at some strategies and analyzing my time, where is it valuably spent and where am I kind of waiting time with no value. Hopefully that will help me see opportunities and lead to better organization and management of time and talent.
