Dude! Mudkip is my favorite too. I especially loved in Gen VI when they introduced Mega Evolutions and his final form (Mega Swampert) got those THICCC arms to HulkSmash everything every time he used Earthquake. It felt so awesome.

Thanks for answering (even though I think you answered on the community post too lol)! If/when you get around to Higurashi, I highly *highly* recommend reading the VN (with the 07th Mod installed to really get that authentic 2002-2006 experience), since the anime itself has to cut out a lot; for perspective, the first arc is 4 episodes, so barely over an hour, while it took me about 10 hours for the VNs version of the arc. And ayy, another cat person!
@sketchesbyaidan Yeah. The newer releases still have the original sprites, but I don't think they have the original songs or backgrounds. The 07th Mod adds in the old backgrounds (which are actually photographs!) and the original tracks (which greatly add to the atmosphere), *and* it adds in bits of cut dialogue that was removed in later releases (though the cut dialogue doesn't have voice acting). Apologies if it seems like I'm rambling, I REALLY enjoyed the VN compared to the anime (though I still liked it) and will ramble on about it if given the chance lol.
