20:32 Lore enthusiast here. The Sun- Child king was actually just a literal child. There is some dark backstory behind this. The artistocrats of enkanomiya put these children in power so they can act as a sort of puppet and control enkanomiya. When the children grew up they were killed as to not realize the truth behind it. They killed them by burning them in the Dainchi Mikoshi in the lie that they would ascend. 22:01 Raiden has a voiceline about this book
I'm no lore expert, but my two braincells connected. The quest related to the sun-children (which I haven't done because I'm lazy) is called Phaethon's Syrtos, right? In Greek mythos, Phaethon is the son of Helios, the sun god. Helios would drive the sun through the sky in a chariot each day. In short, Phaethon borrows his dad's chariot and takes it on a joy ride, leading to his death when he horribly messes it up and Zeus throws a lightning bolt at him for it. Syrtos is a traditional dance in which the dancers hold hands and form a circle. The story in the book makes a lot of sense considering that. It's basically the same thing-- whether the Sun-Child actually pulled the reins or not, he was driving the "chariot" of the kingdom to ruin. And assuming the ancient serpent is Orobashi, the same one who is worshipped in Watatsumi and whose bones are scattered all over Inazuma and Enkanomiya, he was consequently struck down by lightning. (Which is ironic, as Orobashi was struck down by lighting in turn later by the Raiden Shogun.) It's interesting to me, considering the connections across Hoyoverse games, that the main characters in Zenless Zone Zero operate under the name Phaethon. I wonder if there are gonna be any parallels as the game goes on-- maybe it'll even shed more light on the existing Genshin lore. Got my Hoyoverse tinfoil hat on. Everything's connected.
I think the reason you find the Al-ahmar book confusing is because there is a whole world quest explaining what happened. He's King deshert one of the old god of Sumeru.
@@sketchesbyaidan I recommend Ashikai's recaps if you need someone to explain certain quests to you. She also has some really interesting theories you might like
17:56 Leanard wasn't trying to climb Dragonspine He was trying to climb the mountain which used to exist on musk reef (now Spiral Abyss) We saw this in Unreconciled Stars Event
Some of the fairytale books are important. The authors/ppl who know about the Irminsul stuff (tampering with the Irminsul can basically erase memories/a person's existence) code their books to preserve history. So even if they look/sound like fairy tales it might mean something else entirely. Example: The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies As of 4.7, we learned that there are 5 Sinners of Khaenri'ah + Dainsleif that stole abyss powers from somewhere/someone we don't know. This aligns with the Six Pygmies killing and stealing the prince's powers and one of the pygmy being guilty about what happened (in this case the guilty pygmy who hides the body inside the tree will be Dainsleif). My Name for Now's recent video about this explains which pygmy is which sinner if you wanna check that out.
@@sketchesbyaidan yep. And when I said the Irminsul erase memories and wipe ppl from existence, I meant it literally. Ingame items, books, and history got rewritten after the known major wipes. It literally changes your whole Genshin account after you've done certain quests. Spoilers below for Sumeru stuff.... Example: Let's say... "Scaramouche is the 6th Harbinger." After the wipe: "We did not know who the 6th was. It's been an empty seat for centuries now." And example for ingame items: "This was a ritual for the Dendro Archon." "No one knows who this ritual is for." Then for books: Rukkhadevata, the first Dendro Archon, was mentioned in some books. After the Wipe though, Nahida replaced Rukkhadevata. So for the whole Teyvat after the Wipe, Nahida is the first Dendro Archon that just went to sleep after the Cataclysm for 500 years.
The heart of clear springs' ending is actually the event "waterborne poetry" frlm 4.1!! You can still find its cutscene on the official youtube channel :)
Please please do a "I read all the artifact descriptions", where you read the artifact stories with no context and rank them A lot of the books reference artifact stories and vice verse
Arlechino isn't Angelica. She's a remnant from the Crimson Moon dynasty of Khaenri'ah , which is also the source of the Balemoon Bloodfire power that she has
Yeah the pale princess is the book that was featured in the Lisa story quest, the one that the abyss order was after. It’s also written by the hexenzirkle member who writes ‘children’s fairytales’ in mond. AAaaand it’s the story that the wolfie in the imaginarium theater is based off of, and the author is pRobably the mage lady wolfie talks about (not sure just speculation for that part)
@@sketchesbyaidan there are other volumes but they're not available in-game, only through datamines! and the current imaginarium theater is actually based on the boar princess, just as a correction to the OP the mage lady is probably andersdotter, the witch of the hexenzirkel who wrote the boar princess. that series as a whole matters a lot for the lore and it's the traveler's favourite book in canon, which highlights its importance even further
@@endofether oh yeah it is traveler’s favorite!! It’s such a cool detail to see. The book covers are consistent with all the books and u can see the book being read by characters in some official art. ALSO the new book Perinheri is also really important
Love this. Makes me wanna read all the books myself, honestly. This game is such a goldmine if you look even just the tiniest bit deeper than the main story and banners. The Hilichurl books are great and I frequently reference them and their wiki pages to decode hilichurlian-- every Hilichurl noise in the game is actually translatable communication. The reason they all yell "YA!" when they see you and start attacking is that "Ya" translates to "human!" It's interesting trying to decipher what they're saying as they attack you. Some of it's pretty interesting as they're sometimes actively insulting you/telling you to stand still/congratulating you on being a worthy opponent.
20:48 maybe someone already mentioned it, yes, the seven sovereigns were the seven sovereign dragons(of which Neuvillette is a reincarnation of one) who's powers were stolen for the gnosis' that give power to the archons. 7 sovereigns = the power of the seven archons
The little witch and the undying fire gets better by knowing that each chapter is written by a different member of the hexenzirkel and that it's essentatially a goodbye to Andersdotter, a deceased member who wrote a lot of the fairytales in teyvat. And since fairytales serve as a way to preserve memories altered by irminsul, the book mentioning that the universe is dying is ominous to say the least.
33:00 they made an end for the story in the book and the happy ending was in a poetry event with Diona / venti / hu tao and other characters were in it it was a fun event in 4.1
The mad lad did it, and even put timestamps, holy gigachad. Checked Trekker because of you, and absolutely got charmed. I forgot how enjoyable it was to read short stories. I wanted to thank you for that.
I loved this video!! its so fun to hear ppls takes on genshin books and this was rlly well done. great work :D one small note! 12:43 al-ahmar is actually pronounced al-aHmar, not al-aKHmar. i know this letter H of arabic can be a little difficult for people, but you actually kinda say it right here at 13:29! when you say meHHH. the H in aHmar is almost like when you finish drinking something and you sigh "aHH.." it's very soft, no fricative KH involved, just like an English H. if you ever get into Sumeru lore, i'd love to hear your thoughts on it! :D please keep up the awesome work
Wow thank you for the input! Honestly I struggle so much with the names in Genshin because they're from so many different languages, so I really appreciate it!
teacher: you have to do this book review over summer me as a student: takes forever and hates the whole process of writing it hoyo: here books me: oh hell yeah ... *me makes tea, gets comfortable, and reads those books like the morning newspaper*
Power couple Goodnight Layla Xingquack Somebody help Diluc Idk, Chicken Bacon sandwich with curry dressing (And salat, onions, etc.) tastes pretty good :3 No tomato or pickles tho, bleugh
oh I didn't even know leanard had a book, he had a event for himself back in 1.1 called unreconciled stars spoilers and his will was so strong his constellation fell from the sky. And the mountain he wanted to climb was the spiral abyss island before it sunk and oh, I'm guessing you haven't made it to the fountaine arc nor nahida part 2. Won't say what it entails. Edit nevermind someone already said it, yeah the 7 sovereigns are the dragons. It's really cool that old finch and callirhoe got 2 events that told their story and gave it a conclusion. Also apparently callirhoe can grant wishes because diona got her wine powers from callirhoe was it ever accepted arlechinno is angelica.....angelica is from liyue while arlechinno is a crimson moon dynasty descendant. I feel the most popular theory I'm caught up with is angelica is istaroth the god of time because of the line "I am freedom" which links to venti being god of wind, and istaroth other title is 1000 winds of time and was worshipped in mondstat on the mysterious island ah the 2 musketeers, another book that made it to the limited events. Though idk if it was made with the event or before that is some painful ruin snake gameplay...
Yo Toki Alley Tales might be on to something saying humans come from youkai cause all fontanians come from oceanids and in mostadt they got the cat people so maybe the monster human pipeline isn’t that crazy
Just now realizing The Mondstadt Tower is probably a subtle reference to The Hunchback of Notre Dame. A leader of a church falls for a traveling girl who wants social change, but he hates the peasants so he claims she’ll bewitch the people, making her out to be a witch, and this guy sends his adopted son to capture her but he can’t do it cuz he likes her too much, yeah this is very much the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Plus, it’s named after a city’s iconic landmark, like the other story being named after Notre Dame.
The algorithm is wack. Hi, I'm new to your channel. I haven't watched lore for genshin, but both of your videos on genshin books came up for me, and this is the first video of yours I've watched (listened to), and I made it all the eay through. So... Guess it was worth your effort if it gets new subs, right? :) I like listening to your voice
Please read the books, thank you! ❤ Tbh though, I'd really watch that - or rather - listen to that. I consume hours upon hours of content while I work so... 😌
Quite a lot of the stories in the game are actually just record-keeping tools that can circumvent Irminsul tampering. Basically, the knowledge that “some stories are historical allegories, not fiction” can’t really be erased, and by reading the stories you can deduce what you *don’t* know, that you should have known. This method isn’t always effective, as Lesser Lord Kusanali simply replaced Greater Lord Rukhadevata in all historical texts, but when The Balladeer erased himself without providing a substitute, the stories about his life allowed us to re-deduce it after the tampering took place.
Finally have the time to watch this video! Thank you, this was a very entertaining watch. I think a lot of these books make more sense when you do the world quests and that's when people will appreciate it more. But you get there when you get there. It's the same with the lore. Only problem is if you missed limited time events that gives more context or continuation to the books because i think that makes them more interesting, like the two musketeers (where chevreuse's investigation leads to finding a real murderer related to this book), heart of clear springs (the continuation of this book and how the spring fairy relates to diona) and the one about leonard. Btw im only assuming you missed them because i think you would've mentioned them in the video if you did the events, which you can probably find somewhere on UA-cam if you're interested. Sorry this has gotten long. Again, thanks for the video! I really think what you did here - for yourself and other viewers - can make exploring genshin more enjoyable as you progress and get to know the world more.
Thank you! And yes, you're exactly right. I haven't had time to play many world quests and I've missed a lot of events for work, so thanks for clearing this up!
power couple, goodnight Layla, Xingquack, somebody help Diluc, bánh mì but that's more a sub, so maybe something like a Reuben for true sandwiches. Thank you for your hard work. I think you'd have benefited a lot from having lore knowledge but your argument about not having enough time is super valid 😂
I can't thank you enough for two things : first of all, this is gonna make me board my lost friend into the game because she likes reading books and your descriptions just makes one really wanna read further. And secondly for being a fellow Rex Lapis apologist haha.
I haven’t read king Al- Ahmar book yet But I just want to let you know the difference between a gene and jinn is jinn are basically demons and they can posses you :)
I don’t know where you are in the story but I would love to hear your thoughts on the Genshin main story after you play it, especially Sumeru and Fontaine! (Fontaine is actual peak) The kingdom of Remuria was added as a playable area in 4.6 and it has an amazing world quest that expands on everything in the books
Arlecchino is said to be PERINHERI, not Angelika. 😅😅😅 BTW, Perinheri's gender isn't specified in the original book (depending on who you choose as your traveler), although the book Perinheri is an allegory rather than facts. As for the Six Pygmies, the rest of the books have been leaked, so they're available to read of you don't mind leaked content.
Just some interesting lore, or the like, additions to some of the books, in case anyone is interested (sorry if some were already mentioned): 2:00 So, some people know more about this book than others cuz contents of all the other volumes got datamined and leaked at like the beginning of the game. As for why people find significance even more now (SPOILERS FOR THE LATEST DAIN QUEST, you've been warned, skip to next timestamp if you don't wanna see it)..... it's almost confirmed that the six pigmies in the story are the 5 great sinners of khaenriah + dainslief (he says "me and the 5 sinners" in the quest specifically). To understand this, you need to search all the volumes yourself (obviously might spoil yourself) but basically the six pigmies in the story seemingly have the reversed personality traits of the sinners and dain 2:55 For the pharmacist Yasumoto. This is actually part of a quite sad world quest. Basically, he was a traveling doctor that wanted to help cure tatarigami on Yashiori Island, even when half the villagers died. He might have continued to stay cuz of guilt of those he couldn't save and responsibility to the living. In the first note, you can see that he didn't have a cure, so he at least tried to make Lavender Melon soup for people to at least try to make people believe that they feel better. The only thing, in another note that we can find, people actually have discovered what he was doing and it wasn't pretty: "...Yasumoto is a fraud. All he does is boil Lavender Melon with Sugar, which has no medicinal properties whatsoever... ...He always seemed like a waste of space, and sure enough, he can't be trusted..." In the second note, woman mentions her child Chouji, who is part of the other world quest on the island Third note mentions that Yasumoto will try the cure on himself after meeting the traveler. That's where the world quest with Yatsumoto actually starts and we help to gather materials for him for a few days. After that, Yasumoto disappears but by following him with elemental sight, traveler finds a basket of Naku Weeds that are left behind on the southernmost point of Yashiori Island. While his fate remains ambiguous, the Chinese description of the achievement for doing the quest is "Witness the ending of Yasumoto." 3:55 Someone, in 2021, tried to translate this ballad based on the info we have on hilichurlian language (this isn't a perfect translation but still, credit to Thekenneths on the wiki): "Hello! Hello! You eat meat! Not, not eat meat, You eat vegetables! Eat vegetables, eat stone, You weak weak!" 4:20 So, the you actually meet Roland on Tsurumi Island and help him in a quest, after which he leaves, but the funny part is that he manages to drop his diary, which is the last volume of the book 5:30 Another fun fact, with addition of the new mode, Imaginarium Theater, you can draw fortune slips there once a season (month) and those have excerpts from random books (you can find it on the wiki page of the theater). And some of them ARE from History of Kings and Clans. Here are the volumes it has (basically the History of Kings and Clans: name of the volume): Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (I), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (XII), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (V), The Cultivation of Mondstadt (V), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (III), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (XI) 6:05 So, the end of the book implies that the boy will walk across Teyvat to find the young girl friend. The boy is the author, Chang the Ninth and the girl is Little Nine, a ghost girl you can find and have a world quest with near Qingce Village. Chang didn't know that she died and thought she just disappeared, while Little Nine became a ghost and stopped aging. It's a really bad TLDR but there's a whole quest for that if you're interested that can be found even on wiki. Or just search the girl's name on wiki, it will give the TLDR of their story 6:40 Ode to Khvarena is actually really important lore vise and while i understand why it might sound like just Colorful language but NO, all of those are actual names, people and places in Sumeru. I don't see a point of explaining it much, though, since there's a whole quest chain called "Khvarena of Good and Evil" that explains most of that stuff and is one of my favorite world quests (just cuz of all the lore it gives) (the quest chains is also super long and i won't be able to TLDR it) 9:30 This book actually gave us quite a bit of important info on Remuria, considering it came out in 4.0 and Remuria itself came out in 4.6 11:30 Mondstadt tower, i'm pretty sure, is a reference to a Hunchback of Notre Dame. And one of it's later excerpts can also be found in the Imaginarium Theater 12:43 Also lore relevant book, mostly to just the whole lore of the Desert (well, King Deshret's part of the desert to be exact, AKA Al-Alhmar AKA Amun, the guy has quite a few names and a LOT of lore connected to him). The end is also abrupt cuz it continues in one of BEST world quests story wise. Like, people want an NPC from that quest to become playable character, she's such a good written character (the name of the quest is The Golden Slumber + has continuation quests) 15:45 Not anything about the contents of the book but most people hate it, cuz to get the last volume you have to fish 10 pages from the waters in Inazuma and you have a 2% chance to get a page along with the fish you caught. Some people still don't have that volume 17:55 Leonard is actually the first big Event NPC, the 1.1 event, Unreconciled Stars (which is really important to lore TBH) was kinda about him. He did found the way down but couldn't actually conquer the mountain. So instead, he CREATED THE WINDGLIDERS that all the people use nowadays in Teyvat. In the event, The strength of his will was so strong, it induced the meteorite showers that sent those who touched it into a deep slumber, where they dreamt of ascending the mountain. Those trapped in the dream felt compelled to climb it, as though possessed. You can also see that, with creation of Glider and his name, he's basically a reference to Leonardo da Vinci 18:25 So, the aristocrats mentioned here actually have more story on them in other parts of the game (mostly weapons). Specifically Eberhart, Eberhart's slave (the gladiator from... Gladiator artifact set), red-haired reaper (Vannessa), Parsifal and Priscilla 22:05 Without spoilers, there definitely is more truth 23:00 Guizhong is actually really important character to Liyue and was theorized to even be Rex Lapis' lover (though game only states them as very good friends). You can learn more from 2023 Lantern Rite event 27:35 This one is actually a retelling of the events of the first volume (well, prologue) of genshin manga. Definitely a recommended read if you liked the book 27:55 Funnily/Interestingly enough, Legend of the Shattered Halberd seems to be really important for lore. Not only does it have some allegories to the main story but Prinzessin der Verurteilung at the end is literally Fischl. Well, not the playable character (real name Amy) but the character she LARPs as. And that character might also be really important to the lore. Making Amy herself a walking and talking red flag anytime she talks as Fischl. And obviously, it's connected to Flowers for Princess Fischl 28:15 This is actually a retelling of the history of one of the places in the desert, connected to a world quest and is part of the quest chain with that best written NPC i mentioned previously. The book itself is inspired by the story Khosrow and Shirin from real life (1/2)
29:50 Vera's Melancholy is my favorite book (cuz it kept me up for a year) and it's definitely lore related and also seems to have some Lovecraftian stuff in it. In case you want some important parts from it, the beginning part about different Worlds: The first is about Delphi, it's an actual place IRL but is also a place in Enkanomiya, the world with 14 Valkaries fighting against doomsday is literally about another of Hoyoverse's games - Honkai Impact 3rd. And the book also has very important quote at the end "Only the future can save the past", which is important cuz it's a direct quote from Dainslief's character card (it's 1 to1 in Chinese translation) and that card got even more importance after the recent Dain quest 33:15 Well, people still had to be depressed for 3 years, since the book came out in 1.0 and the Finch's reunion only happened in 4.1 39:30 Not only was it written by different Authors, it was written by multiple Hexenzirkel witches and implies that Octavia might be one of those witches that we haven't heard prior. Also possible implications for the game's story with that world ending event at the end, since Hexenzirkel witches are kinda important and powerful and would know stuff like that 44:10 The book itself might actually be an allegory for Khaenri'ahn stuff or some other. Aside from that, Volume 1 is actually about Penguin that Freminet named his meka after - Pers 45:25 La Chanson d'Erinnyes is another of the lore important books but i like that it's based on the Song of Roland and some Arthurian legends (well, i guess it's part of the lore that is based on that and book is based on the lore) 46:55 The advanced empire is most likely Khaenri'ah, especially with the "giants with one eye" that throw "Bulle Fruits" with accuracy 47:55 Perinheri is actually REALLY important, especially to Arlecchino. It's the first book that confirmed that Khaenri'ah had 2 dynasties. Also, Angelica is agreed to be either Istaroth or Venti, not Arlecchino (Arlecchino has more connections to Perinheri himself) 48:45 I think it's more or less agreed to be an allegory or retelling of our sibling's and dain's travels but not confirmed 53:45 Another quite important book lore-wise related to abyss and seelies 1:02:15 A bit of a correction, wolf doesn't want to go but it's the boar princess who suggests to feed him with her companions. He was literally stupefied when she said "I will sacrifice everything to feed your hungry belly!". He did help her catch them though. Also, this book is the inspiration for the whole aesthetic of the Imaginarium Theater. You can find the plushy Wolfy (Though the boar princess wolf is just one of his "roles") and the boar princess on the painting. Also, Nicole, from Hexenzirkel is a boar too ??? 1:03:00 Not only that but during Raiden's Story Quest act 1 it's the book that you can suggest for Raiden to read 1:07:20 Heart's desire might have allegory to real lore of the game 1:08:55 If you're interested in this book, roozevelt has a really interesting theory video based on it (called "Time is (NOT) an Illusion) on how time might work in Teyvat (though, spoilers for quests of course) (2/2)

Vera’s Melancholy is probably my favourite, because I’m a sucker for space lesbians. I mean, I’m writing a space lesbians! Or, technically, a space lesbian and three space bisexuals (of which two are in the female, and one is in the male variety).
Where did you get the "Of Mountains and Seas" book? Based on your summary, it's heavily related to the 1.1 Reconciled Stars Event where that meteorite fell from the sky and everybody who touched it dreamt the same dream of past-Leonard trying to climb the mountain that is now submerged in water and today known as "Musk Reef".
Some of the 'bad' books are intentionally bad like you suspect. A few of the inazuma books are poking fun at the popularity of light-novels in Japan and various light-novel tropes.

JEEZ Hoyo can be really dark when they want to be. Thanks for the info!
(Which is ironic, as Orobashi was struck down by lighting in turn later by the Raiden Shogun.)
It's interesting to me, considering the connections across Hoyoverse games, that the main characters in Zenless Zone Zero operate under the name Phaethon.
Thanks for pointing this out! Man I gotta get caught up on Genshin lol

Some of the fairytale books are important. The authors/ppl who know about the Irminsul stuff (tampering with the Irminsul can basically erase memories/a person's existence) code their books to preserve history. So even if they look/sound like fairy tales it might mean something else entirely.
Example: The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies
As of 4.7, we learned that there are 5 Sinners of Khaenri'ah + Dainsleif that stole abyss powers from somewhere/someone we don't know.
Interesting! And I thought the books couldn't get any more confusing...
@@sketchesbyaidan yep. And when I said the Irminsul erase memories and wipe ppl from existence, I meant it literally. Ingame items, books, and history got rewritten after the known major wipes. It literally changes your whole Genshin account after you've done certain quests.

Lmao i love the petty author cursing the his critic 😭😭😭
YES there was no reason for Hoyo to add that in but it's so hilarious
I think i recall someone mentioning that the six pygmies were meant to refer to the six strongest in Khaenri'ah, 5 of which became sinners.
Just theory nothing confirmed.
Please please do a "I read all the artifact descriptions", where you read the artifact stories with no context and rank them
A lot of the books reference artifact stories and vice verse
Arlechino isn't Angelica. She's a remnant from the Crimson Moon dynasty of Khaenri'ah , which is also the source of the Balemoon Bloodfire power that she has
The lore truly goes so deep
Yeah the pale princess is the book that was featured in the Lisa story quest, the one that the abyss order was after. It’s also written by the hexenzirkle member who writes ‘children’s fairytales’ in mond. AAaaand it’s the story that the wolfie in the imaginarium theater is based off of, and the author is pRobably the mage lady wolfie talks about (not sure just speculation for that part)
Oooh, maybe that explains why there's only one volume?
@@sketchesbyaidan there are other volumes but they're not available in-game, only through datamines! and the current imaginarium theater is actually based on the boar princess, just as a correction to the OP
the mage lady is probably andersdotter, the witch of the hexenzirkel who wrote the boar princess. that series as a whole matters a lot for the lore and it's the traveler's favourite book in canon, which highlights its importance even further
@@sketchesbyaidan yeahhhh it’s there to tease us, to tickle our balls with forbidden lore 💀😭
@@endofether oh yeah it is traveler’s favorite!! It’s such a cool detail to see. The book covers are consistent with all the books and u can see the book being read by characters in some official art.
ALSO the new book Perinheri is also really important
28:44 Plot twist they are blood related. Thanks Liloupar your story really needed incest.
38:40 i’m sorry but this was just so funny the way u could barely hit the ruin grader bc it was flying then got interrupted by a cutscene 😭😭😭
I'm so glad somebody commented on this 😂 the unskippable cutscenes RUIN my day
That's so cool! I'm gonna think of this every time I do my daily commissions now
20:48 maybe someone already mentioned it, yes, the seven sovereigns were the seven sovereign dragons(of which Neuvillette is a reincarnation of one) who's powers were stolen for the gnosis' that give power to the archons.
13:45 Goddamm man, Xingqui is a nerd, well, I shouldn't be that surprised he whole ass aci fi novel since that does seem like his only passion
33:00 they made an end for the story in the book and the happy ending was in a poetry event with Diona / venti / hu tao and other characters were in it
it was a fun event in 4.1
The mad lad did it, and even put timestamps, holy gigachad.
Checked Trekker because of you, and absolutely got charmed. I forgot how enjoyable it was to read short stories. I wanted to thank you for that.
Happy to help! Time Trekker is such a good oneee
7:20 Something tells me this is the type of book to be the most fucked by translations
teacher: you have to do this book review over summer
me as a student: takes forever and hates the whole process of writing it
hoyo: here books
me: oh hell yeah ... *me makes tea, gets comfortable, and reads those books like the morning newspaper*
this is a great background noise while I’m doing work, good job!
AN HOUR LONG VIDEO?!?! He actually did it, u okay?? T_T
It took me this long, but here we are!

Idk, Chicken Bacon sandwich with curry dressing (And salat, onions, etc.) tastes pretty good :3 No tomato or pickles tho, bleugh
The mad lad, he actually found them all. Congrats
oh I didn't even know leanard had a book, he had a event for himself back in 1.1 called unreconciled stars
spoilers
and his will was so strong his constellation fell from the sky. And the mountain he wanted to climb was the spiral abyss island before it sunk
and oh, I'm guessing you haven't made it to the fountaine arc nor nahida part 2. Won't say what it entails. Edit nevermind someone already said it, yeah the 7 sovereigns are the dragons.
It's really cool that old finch and callirhoe got 2 events that told their story and gave it a conclusion. Also apparently callirhoe can grant wishes because diona got her wine powers from callirhoe
was it ever accepted arlechinno is angelica.....angelica is from liyue while arlechinno is a crimson moon dynasty descendant. I feel the most popular theory I'm caught up with is angelica is istaroth the god of time because of the line "I am freedom" which links to venti being god of wind, and istaroth other title is 1000 winds of time and was worshipped in mondstat on the mysterious island
ah the 2 musketeers, another book that made it to the limited events. Though idk if it was made with the event or before
that is some painful ruin snake gameplay...

Jin is like creation of god of flower, just replay the Jet quest in the big sandstorm place

18:32 timestamp for later
Absolutly amazing. Thanks! I always was curious about the books, but never took the time to read them
Happy to help
Glad to see a continuation of this.
Gonna watch the whole thing when I get back home later today.
Great! Now do EVERY single note on the ground
I would lose my actual mind
Yo Toki Alley Tales might be on to something saying humans come from youkai cause all fontanians come from oceanids and in mostadt they got the cat people so maybe the monster human pipeline isn’t that crazy
I cannot tell you just how much i love these videos.
Wow that is exactly the same story 😂 thanks for pointing this out, very interesting!
Wow, thank you so much!! I appreciate the feedback and the kind words 🥰
Okay but really, why Mihoyo doesn't make an actual merchandise of these lore books? Fans would love to buy them.
I'd probably have to buy them out of obligation at this point 😂
Destiny 2 did that. And they should do a prize event like with Honkai’s artbooks.
Please read the books, thank you! ❤
Tbh though, I'd really watch that - or rather - listen to that.
Great video! I love the little drawings
Thanks so much!! It's nice to take a break from the big fancy drawings and make some goofy little ones haha
21:12 yes.
Watch me make a second channel just for reading the Genshin books lmao
@@sketchesbyaidan I would eat that up so bad
the boar princess has vol 8 that WE CAN'T ACCESS 😢
power couple, goodnight Layla, Xingquack, somebody help Diluc, bánh mì but that's more a sub, so maybe something like a Reuben for true sandwiches.
Thank you for your hard work. I think you'd have benefited a lot from having lore knowledge but your argument about not having enough time is super valid 😂
Thank you for understanding 😂 I'd love to study all the lore but that would have to be its own video. Or two. Or five.
I can't thank you enough for two things : first of all, this is gonna make me board my lost friend into the game because she likes reading books and your descriptions just makes one really wanna read further. And secondly for being a fellow Rex Lapis apologist haha.
We stan Rex Lapis 🙌
I haven’t read king Al- Ahmar book yet
But I just want to let you know the difference between a gene and jinn is jinn are basically demons and they can posses you :)
WOAH. Okay so genies but extra scary, thanks for letting me know
I think Vera's melancholy is important because it mentioned about greek mythology. Maybe it was written by a someone not from teyvat.
I don’t know where you are in the story but I would love to hear your thoughts on the Genshin main story after you play it, especially Sumeru and Fontaine! (Fontaine is actual peak)
The kingdom of Remuria was added as a playable area in 4.6 and it has an amazing world quest that expands on everything in the books
Just some interesting lore, or the like, additions to some of the books, in case anyone is interested (sorry if some were already mentioned):
2:00 So, some people know more about this book than others cuz contents of all the other volumes got datamined and leaked at like the beginning of the game. To understand this, you need to search all the volumes yourself (obviously might spoil yourself) but basically the six pigmies in the story seemingly have the reversed personality traits of the sinners and dain
2:55 For the pharmacist Yasumoto. The only thing, in another note that we can find, people actually have discovered what he was doing and it wasn't pretty:
"...Yasumoto is a fraud. All he does is boil Lavender Melon with Sugar, which has no medicinal properties whatsoever...
...He always seemed like a waste of space, and sure enough, he can't be trusted..."
In the second note, woman mentions her child Chouji, who is part of the other world quest on the island
Third note mentions that Yasumoto will try the cure on himself after meeting the traveler. That's where the world quest with Yatsumoto actually starts and we help to gather materials for him for a few days. After that, Yasumoto disappears but by following him with elemental sight, traveler finds a basket of Naku Weeds that are left behind on the southernmost point of Yashiori Island. While his fate remains ambiguous, the Chinese description of the achievement for doing the quest is "Witness the ending of Yasumoto."
3:55 Someone, in 2021, tried to translate this ballad based on the info we have on hilichurlian language (this isn't a perfect translation but still, credit to Thekenneths on the wiki):
"Hello! Hello!
You eat meat!
Not, not eat meat,
You eat vegetables!
Eat vegetables, eat stone,
You weak weak!"
4:20 So, the you actually meet Roland on Tsurumi Island and help him in a quest, after which he leaves, but the funny part is that he manages to drop his diary, which is the last volume of the book
5:30 Another fun fact, with addition of the new mode, Imaginarium Theater, you can draw fortune slips there once a season (month) and those have excerpts from random books (you can find it on the wiki page of the theater). And some of them ARE from History of Kings and Clans. Here are the volumes it has (basically the History of Kings and Clans: name of the volume): Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (I), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (XII), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (V), The Cultivation of Mondstadt (V), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (III), Tyrants, Heirs, and Rebels (XI)
6:05 So, the end of the book implies that the boy will walk across Teyvat to find the young girl friend. Or just search the girl's name on wiki, it will give the TLDR of their story
6:40 Ode to Khvarena is actually really important lore vise and while i understand why it might sound like just Colorful language but NO, all of those are actual names, people and places in Sumeru. I don't see a point of explaining it much, though, since there's a whole quest chain called "Khvarena of Good and Evil" that explains most of that stuff and is one of my favorite world quests (just cuz of all the lore it gives) (the quest chains is also super long and i won't be able to TLDR it)
9:30 This book actually gave us quite a bit of important info on Remuria, considering it came out in 4.0 and Remuria itself came out in 4.6
11:30 Mondstadt tower, i'm pretty sure, is a reference to a Hunchback of Notre Dame. And one of it's later excerpts can also be found in the Imaginarium Theater
12:43 Also lore relevant book, mostly to just the whole lore of the Desert (well, King Deshret's part of the desert to be exact, AKA Al-Alhmar AKA Amun, the guy has quite a few names and a LOT of lore connected to him). The end is also abrupt cuz it continues in one of BEST world quests story wise. Like, people want an NPC from that quest to become playable character, she's such a good written character (the name of the quest is The Golden Slumber + has continuation quests)
15:45 Not anything about the contents of the book but most people hate it, cuz to get the last volume you have to fish 10 pages from the waters in Inazuma and you have a 2% chance to get a page along with the fish you caught. Some people still don't have that volume
17:55 Leonard is actually the first big Event NPC, the 1.1 event, Unreconciled Stars (which is really important to lore TBH) was kinda about him. You can also see that, with creation of Glider and his name, he's basically a reference to Leonardo da Vinci
18:25 So, the aristocrats mentioned here actually have more story on them in other parts of the game (mostly weapons). Specifically Eberhart, Eberhart's slave (the gladiator from... Gladiator artifact set), red-haired reaper (Vannessa), Parsifal and Priscilla
22:05 Without spoilers, there definitely is more truth
23:00 Guizhong is actually really important character to Liyue and was theorized to even be Rex Lapis' lover (though game only states them as very good friends). You can learn more from 2023 Lantern Rite event
27:35 This one is actually a retelling of the events of the first volume (well, prologue) of genshin manga. Definitely a recommended read if you liked the book
27:55 Funnily/Interestingly enough, Legend of the Shattered Halberd seems to be really important for lore. And obviously, it's connected to Flowers for Princess Fischl
28:15 This is actually a retelling of the history of one of the places in the desert, connected to a world quest and is part of the quest chain with that best written NPC i mentioned previously. The book itself is inspired by the story Khosrow and Shirin from real life
(1/2)
29:50 Vera's Melancholy is my favorite book (cuz it kept me up for a year) and it's definitely lore related and also seems to have some Lovecraftian stuff in it. In case you want some important parts from it, the beginning part about different Worlds: The first is about Delphi, it's an actual place IRL but is also a place in Enkanomiya, the world with 14 Valkaries fighting against doomsday is literally about another of Hoyoverse's games - Honkai Impact 3rd. And the book also has very important quote at the end "Only the future can save the past", which is important cuz it's a direct quote from Dainslief's character card (it's 1 to1 in Chinese translation) and that card got even more importance after the recent Dain quest
33:15 Well, people still had to be depressed for 3 years, since the book came out in 1.0 and the Finch's reunion only happened in 4.1
39:30 Not only was it written by different Authors, it was written by multiple Hexenzirkel witches and implies that Octavia might be one of those witches that we haven't heard prior. Also possible implications for the game's story with that world ending event at the end, since Hexenzirkel witches are kinda important and powerful and would know stuff like that
44:10 The book itself might actually be an allegory for Khaenri'ahn stuff or some other. Aside from that, Volume 1 is actually about Penguin that Freminet named his meka after - Pers
45:25 La Chanson d'Erinnyes is another of the lore important books but i like that it's based on the Song of Roland and some Arthurian legends (well, i guess it's part of the lore that is based on that and book is based on the lore)
46:55 The advanced empire is most likely Khaenri'ah, especially with the "giants with one eye" that throw "Bulle Fruits" with accuracy
47:55 Perinheri is actually REALLY important, especially to Arlecchino. It's the first book that confirmed that Khaenri'ah had 2 dynasties. Also, Angelica is agreed to be either Istaroth or Venti, not Arlecchino (Arlecchino has more connections to Perinheri himself)
48:45 I think it's more or less agreed to be an allegory or retelling of our sibling's and dain's travels but not confirmed
53:45 Another quite important book lore-wise related to abyss and seelies
1:02:15 A bit of a correction, wolf doesn't want to go but it's the boar princess who suggests to feed him with her companions.
1:03:00 Not only that but during Raiden's Story Quest act 1 it's the book that you can suggest for Raiden to read
1:07:20 Heart's desire might have allegory to real lore of the game
1:08:55 If you're interested in this book, roozevelt has a really interesting theory video based on it (called "Time is (NOT) an Illusion) on how time might work in Teyvat (though, spoilers for quests of course)
(2/2)

Vera’s Melancholy is probably my favourite, because I’m a sucker for space lesbians.
I mean, I’m writing a space lesbians! Or, technically, a space lesbian and three space bisexuals (of which two are in the female, and one is in the male variety).

Glad you enjoyed!
The lore for the adventurers in dragonspine are actually talked about in the pale flame set description along with the noblesse oblige set
Some of the 'bad' books are intentionally bad like you suspect. A few of the inazuma books are poking fun at the popularity of light-novels in Japan and various light-novel tropes.
24:55 The petty writer is just an Arab person, when some Arab people get mad they start talking like that I've seen it for my self, there also a play in Egypt where they make fun of this behavior 😂😂
HELL YEAH I LOVE THIS. LET'S GO!!!!
Using this for future reference for when writing.
That you had the patience to go read every damn book, and summarize it in a game where people don't even wanna read the main story quest text has to come with an extra achievement on its own.
