The most frustrating thing about ZKK and the insistence that "Zoro has to kill a dragon because Ryuuma did it" is that Zoro already DID kill a dragon, exactly the way Ryuuma did, all the way back in Punk Hazard. It already happened, years ago. It didn't need to happen again. The "parallel" was already fulfilled.
The thing that so many people failed to realize that oden wasn’t a parallel too zoro but for luffy.

The ZKK theory was actually insufferable. I remember people saying that Kaido would get back up after the bajrang gun and Zoro would somehow get up to finish off kaido, despite the fact that bro was out cold and on death’s door after his fight with king. The ZKK believers refused to let it go until Wano entered post arc territory.
Even in post arc people expected Kaido to pop up again
It's the same people saying Mihawk is a fraud, Shanks is a snitch rat, Big mom is weak, Dragon is a fraud or isn't Luffy's dad, Crocodile is Luffy's mom, etc. So what do you expect from them
I'd argue, the CrocoMom theory is more insufferable.

I've got a theory! The entire One Piece fandom secretly ate the Speculate-Speculate Fruit.
Lol the "Speculate speculate No mi"
No wonder I can’t swim!
i have a theory, i think that the entire theory about the one piece being "the friends we made along the way" is actually correct, oda said something about it not being right, but if you made a story, and had the ending in your head right from the beginning, and spent literal DECADES with an S, the majority of his life developing it, the last thing you would want is for everyone knowing and expecting that to be the end, and changing something you had planned for so long just out of spite, for people not to find it out early also wouldn't be a good option considering how invested he was on that, so he lied to try and bury this theory while it is actually somehow true.
6:38 honestly, sea prism stone sandals wouldn’t even have been close to the dumbest thing in one piece. If Reighley had been a kick based fighter like Sanji, it would have made some sense.
The idea was quite solid back then since Wiper used footwear with sea prism stone to constrain Enel.
Honestly Sanji could fs get some on his shoes I feel and get a minor buff or something. I feel that would be equal to zoro getting enma in a way

I remember when Morj first thought up the whole raid failing thing and thought to myself this, "The island is in the sky heading toward the capital, why should it fail?"
On the real. If the raid failed, boom. The samurai? Dead. The allied minks there? Dead. The citizens of the Flower Capital? Dead. The citizens of Wano overall? Enslaved even further with HARSHER conditions. The crew? Enslaved or dead.
There would be no run back.

I never agreed with the theory but honestly I kinda agree about the stakes not being enough. And just to be clear, stakes is not just "What could be lost" but also the perceived sensation of the possibility of it going that direction. Like, maybe the idea of the raid failing was funny to me, but the dude had a point when saying the protagonist forces literally never behaved as if they could actually lose, as if they knew they were in a story.
The fact that fans believed the raid would actually fail is a compliment to oda's writing i think

@@Elamado97 💀broo, why are you talking like luffy didn't have that breakdown about losing his crew, and then ace right after. you realize there is an infinite amount of ways to keep the story going? they could lose wano and the poneglyph and it would still be okay. look at cross guild, they literally have zero poneglyphs, and they don't even have a translator and they are currently one of the leading crews in the one piece race because WRITING. Literally anything can happen, nobody expected kidd and law to lose their ships and crew right immediately after their victory in wano. and honestly, a main character losing his found family is heavier than losing a country that isn't even his responsibility in the first place.

Man, back when everyone was putting out theories about Sabo.. Those were the times. I started reading around the time Punk Hazard was near it's conclusion, so the theories were flying left and right.
Honestly, I feel the Found Family themes is why the Biological Family theories are so popular. If you find a family, you can tell a good story with what the Biological Family is like, whether good or bad. Especially with things like Ace's family line, and Garp.
Agreed
Found family means the family we choose, not found as in no longer lost. The Straw Hats are found family as an example and at the end of the day none of their biological families matter because none of them really care about their biological family. Closest we've gotten is Sanji and his arc was very clearly closure and separation from his biological family.
@@radaro.9682I mean luffy definitely scares for Garp
The fixation on family is precisely because the focus is on found family. Because to many people, the idea of blood family not mattering is just plain out weird.
So although they are fine with those not being big part of the story, they at least want to know!
Nah, I think a large part of it is both the desire to know what went wrong to push them into finding their own families and also a genuine curiosity about the parents we DO know and who would even date them, let along have a kid with 'em. Like, can you IMAGINE what the woman who hooked up with Dragon would be like? I can't. That's why I want to know about her - because she must be some kind of badass and hey, I wanna know about another badass lady! Rouge was awesome, why wouldn't I wanna know about Luffy's birth mother and why she couldn't raise Luffy too?
I think the worst idea inflicted on us is the Sanji is a devil fruit theory. Durrrr Sanji eyebrows are swirly. Devil fruits have swirls therefore Sanji is a devil fruit. Like what?! my favorite theory/joke/meme that was going around 4chan around the time Dressrosa happened, was that Kaido had a "Duck Logia" devilfruit. That became extra funny when karasu was introduced and it appeard as if he had eaten a "crow logia" devilfruit, which, of course, was later reveald to be the "soot-soot fruit"
I thought that was a running joke from Tekking in his channel
"Kaido is a Duck!" - Tekking
People thought wano would be a 5 act structure rather than a 3 act structure, in which tragedy is in the 3rd act, success in the 4th act, and a swift conclusion. I think it was called "Jou Ha Kyuu"? Something like that. That was basically the only thing even suggesting the raid would fail.
the 5-act-structure is a kabuki thing.
kabuki plays historically would have 5 acts instead of 3 like a western play would. wano is heavily based on a kabuki play, with a bunch of kabuki references like ninja squads or the island of ogres, onigashima. so, if you're looking at it from that angle, wano having 5 acts makes sense.
functionally, we could split wano into 5 acts. act 1, act 2, oden flashback, raid, joyboy's awakening, because the thing that "the raid will fail" theorists failed to account for is that the 5 act structure and the 3 act structure are identical, they just have lines drawn in different spots to make a different number of acts.
tbh it's weird how we had 3 acts and the 3rd act was like twice as long as the first 2 combined. I still wish we could've had act breaks after Luffy got to the rooftop and after Kaido went down
Yeah, Act 3 could be divided in 3, and the raid did fail when Luffy "died", but that was necessary for Joyboy's Awakening and then he could beat Kaido.
If you'll notice, kabuki's 5 act structure can be pretty easily plastered over with a 3 act structure without any of the content or pacing changing at all. It's a way to describe things.
The theme of Found Family is SO prevalent, the reveals of biological parentage is usually met with either outright rejection by the child or otherwise completely irrelevant. Ace refuses to acknowledge Roger, Sanji justifiably LOATHS Judge, Luffy may or may not have ever had a single conversation with Dragon, Ussop kinda sorta looks up to his dad's accomplishments (?) but the guy himself is secondary to his own dream, Nami's are (probably) dead, Chopper's are deer, and Franky, Brooks, Jimbei's aren't even brought up in even a passing mention of any sort.
There are precisely 3 times (that I can think of at the moment **EDIT** Thanks commenters! A couple that I forgot: Rebecca/Kyros along with Neptune+Otohime and their children, so that brings us up to 5 examples) a POSITIVE biological parent/child relationship is relevant to the story: Robin, Vivi, and Momonosuke/Hiyori. Robin's love for her mother, egged on by her mother's inability to keep a poker face, leads to Robin's damning admission that she can read poneglyphs resulting in her life-long manhunt. Meanwhile, King Cobra's influence develops Vivi into a respectable monarch and results in her directly taking on the task to uncover Crocodile's plot by entering the Baroque Works organization as a double agent. And in Momo+Hiyori's case, BOTH parents were massively influential in their upbringing, though short lived, and could be an entire essay on it's own but ultimately lead both to do everything in their power to bring about Oden's dream (eventually) and helping the Strawhats bring about the end of Orochi and Kaido's reign in Wano.
Also, the less said about the Parent-Child relations of the villains in the series the better. Big Mom and Kaido are obviously awful parents.

"...Chopper's are deer". Unmistakably factual, yet it made me laugh out loud to see it said so bluntly.

I love your videos Liam, I will always go to you for my fictional pirate theories and lore. Such as, what if those large shadows from Thriller Bark Arc at the end were those ominous shadows the elder stars or somethings related to them?
Oda will only do the unexpected if it makes sense storywise. He also avoids lazy writing like kaido being a poneglyph. Oda has established himself as a great writer, lets not trust random youtubers who claim to have found what the one piece is.
Theories is one of my favorite parts of One Piece. Only downside is the part of the fandom that say bad story if their prediction doesn’t come through😂
I remember ZKK and when people were convinced Kaido was getting back up. And I'm like, "That seemed pretty definitive to me.." 😂 I just am never prepared for how emotional and angry people get when defending their clearly messed up theories, after they've been disproven even lol! If what they said was gonna happen does not happen, it is then bc of bad writing and so on 😂 It's kind of funny ngl
I remember being on Arlong Park when Water 7 was being read weekly. Pauline was the obvious choice for the shipwright thanks to his quirky personality and the fact he would prove to be another foil to Sanji. It literally took Franky’s backstory to kill that theory, especially since Pauline was in that flashback.
I read one piece pretty late but i could see that while reading water 7 ngl
Oh shit I remember that. I remember people speculating Kaku too before the whole CP9 reveal
@@austinyun Everybody loved Kaku. That double-page spread did a lot of heavy lifting in that department.
I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I cant forget when Joy Boy was convinced that Zoro would leave the crew after Whole Cake Island Arc, because Sanji disrespected Luffy and kept on pushing that theory even after it was beyond clear that it wasnt going to happen
Blood logia honestly has a lot of potential. The regular form of it might just be similar to water (which still isn't an awful ability), but an awakened version could very well confer abilities similar to blood bending which even at this point in the story would be an incredibly deadly power.
You missed one more theory from the previous arc.
“Yamato joining the crew”
I was against him/her joining, not because I dislike the character, it’s just how they was introduced(late) and presented(overpowered) and carried themselves(the oden thing). It didn’t seem like a strawhat material
Oh this, my friend and i has theory (joke most likely) why yamato didnt join the crew, even whe she state that she will join strawhats (iirc she did said that)
The theory is, oda was planning to make yamato a strawhats, but then they cast a very expensive VA (i think it also the VA of yor forger, shinobu, etc) for her, and then the production said something like
"Mr oda, after some calculation there's no way we could afford to hire this VA for the rest of the series, please do something about it"
And then boom yamato decide that she will stay in wano, also maybe she will join the strawhats later, and by the time she join, maybe they will cast less expensive VA, saying that yamato's voice change a bit for some reason lol
@@maunabesanikaYeah cause it was definitely looking like Yamato was joining the Straw Hats into the very end
my favorite (probably bogus theory) is that Zoro died off screen on Wano. him suddenly encounter the grim reaper before the cutaway, I see as a split second representation of Zoro being caught off guard by something he perceived as lethal, it might not even really be a reaper it could be an assassin or even an explosion, the reaper was just a framing device to spark intrigue without giving it away or making it seem to jarring to cut away from. Through some means we aren't aware of yet, my assumption would be Zoro's yet untouched on Curse, he manages to claw back control of his body, essentially becoming a living corpse. There's examples of other characters being able to reclaim their bodies through various means, namely Brook and Lao G and it would retroactively reinforce "Death on Wano" as well as Zoro's King of Hell title being one of the few people to climb out of Hell. It's not thoroughly thought out, but I like it.
I mean he DID say he came out of hell so........
To this day the mere mention of ZKK makes me laugh to no end, it and the mental gymnastics that explained it were ridiculous.
another point people used for the "kaido is a poneglyph" argument is that big mom said kaido owed her, and many theorized that the reason he owed her is because she gave him (the poneglyph) a soul with the use of her devil fruit
Your editors/artists are great.
Probably the most insufferable theory I heard was the “Raid will fail”, because it’s fun to throw theories around but indeed, it just got weird… like UA-camrs would go on half hour tangents when discussing new chapters about it, and since they’re new videos you have to sit through the whole darn thing, waiting for them to talk about the chapter again… THEN IT ENDS!
I mean it wasn’t a bad idea, in fact afore Gear 5th was teased I was in emotions cuz all that effort the straw hats went through would be going down…the Samurai perhaps mass-boiled, Flower Capital Destroyed, Momonosuke executed as well… it looked to me for a moment things were gonna take an incredibly dark turn! But Oda shifted as always! 😁 but, they kept going and going, even during the part chapters! It was ridiculous and almost embarrassing!
I really wanted Paulie as a strawhat
Yeah, ditto. Still think him as a thematic foil to Sanji's perviness would've been gold. Especially given Brook doubled up on the perviness. Add in if he could've somehow developped haki to combo with his ropes and I think it would've been interesting.
Keep up the awesome work and videos Liam
I was surprised you didn't talk about the gear 5 resin theories at all, though I guess they aren't the most ridiculous and got disproven quickly.

I have this thing that is called “The 4 Great Wano Theory Fails”. 4 theories from different OP-Tubers that I follow (some what) who had strong theories from the Wano arc that didn’t end up happening. The theories are:
1. “Kaido is a Dragon” by Takking101, who states that Kaido was an ancient dragon who ate the Oni-Oni Fruit
2. “Toki was Komurasaki” by Grand Line Review, who, dissatisfied with the sudden personality shift that Hyori took, thought that Komurasaki was actually Toki to explain the inconsistency
3. “The Raid Will Fail” from Mr Morj, who spearheaded the theory.
4. “Yamato for Straw Hat” from RogerBase, who, confident about his prediction, made a bet with fans in the instance that he was wrong
Well, Yamato is still up in the air. He could turn up later down the line still - his spot on the crew is reserved, after all. Is it likely? I give it at least a 20% chance of occurring. I don't think we can put that one to bed until the final chapter - same with most of the more likely 'Strawhat crew joiners' theories. The others though were certainly bust.

It’ll be interesting to see if the live action keeps igaram alive, they don’t seem to have the same issue as oda when it comes to killing characters off, example being Merry actually being killed by Kuro. They may have robin actually kill Igaram and Pell will definitely not survive

Only a few theories I know about because you've covered them before but some of these damn near made my eyes roll out of my head lol
Mr Morj raid failure theory
Zoro fans were really getting ahead of themselves thinking he could take on a yonko by himself at his current level. When people constantly favour one character that goes against the storyline pattern it makes it more difficult to discuss the anime with them.
To be fair it would probably have been Luffy and zoro Vs kaido (which sort of happened with the 5v2) with zoro landing the final blow. That technically has happened before with captain Morgan in chapter 6 or so, so it's still a long shot based on little to no evidence but at least feasible
Awesome video! Do this but only the ones you’ve speculated on. Been watching forever, you’ve had a few out there theories ha
Great episode.
8:30 Other theories that I remember being correct were Blackbeard not sleeping and Momonosuke's fruit being considered a failure because of wrong color.
The Blackbeard one, in particular, was quite a long shot. Luffy made a random comment to Sanji during Drum Island saying that people from cold countries do not sleep, and that he heard that from a guy in a bar. The "guy in a bar" should be shanks, and Blackbeard as a kid is drawn on a cold place and awaken at night. This was very far fetched but turned out to be exactly the case.
The Blackbeard one feel a lot less like an actual theory and more like a "if you say a million things one of them is gonna be right by sheer coincidence" situation.
So many theories and head canons debunked by Oda himself.

Good old days time flies
The raid didn't have to fail, but I wanted Kaido and Big Mom to show clear awakenings. Perhaps some of the beast pirates too. The K/BM alliance felt nerfed. Not to mention nearly the whole BM fleet got blocked at the door (albeit in a funny fashion).
We just need Crocomom to be real
I feel like the attachment to the idea of the raid failing even as the beast pirates kept being defeated was desperately wanting some sort of tension in the final battle. Luffy not returning so suddenly before gear 5 would've worked fine imo if Kaido had gone on to cause some havoc before Joyboy showed up. Then everyone would've been happy, there was the tension the raid failing people wanted, and we wouldn't have to wait another year for an entire second raid. It's just that people associated tension with=the raid failing, so they kept saying the raid will fail even up to the last minute
The way i deal with one piece theory in recent years, is by thinking that "ah, this is fanfiction" essentially. As an avid fanfiction reader, I can tell when someone clearly wants to write fanfictions but dub it as theory instead. Some what-if videos from Manu-Ohara are kind of like this too, they're fanfictions.
Nice vid
Raid failing made Wano more fun at the time. Gave it an uncertainty the story itself didn’t have
Vinsmoke Killer and Bellamy was from Rogersbase, I remember the video :D
Morj stays catching Ls for this one
We first saw the image of kaido in the end of enies lobby
Before Sabo was confirmed alive, I always thought that Law and Kid were 'adoptive' brothers of Luffy.. Kid was a surrogate for Ace and Law for Sabo
@grandlinereview The Kaido one was funny! On that note, don't you think the idea that a person could be related to the last poneglyph is worth thinking about? Something like a tattoo on someone's back. Food for thoughts
5:48 tbf shepherd is called sanjis uncle 💀
Never heard of the poneglyph eating a devil fruit theory before 😂 that would have been amazing
RF is the most funniest theory in the OP community. What's so funny is that now these guys are the one's promoting Luffy is going to lose against Kizaru. They have some crazy beef against luffy.😂😂
I'd never heard of the Zoro theory and parallel, but I did think the fact he'd got a sword, and a huge emphasis was put on the fact it was the only weapon that ever cut Kaido, might have been foreshadowing it. If they only thing they used as evidence was a parallel though, that's stupid lol
This is completely off topic to the latest chapters but I have a theory for the will of D, instead of it standing for one word it stands for 4 words because the moon has 8 different stages ,and since D is half of a circle it stands for half of the moon, and every character that has the will of D has been showed to die for the people they love such as Luffy, Roger, and Law and the four words are “would die for others” (if you see this please put this in a video and keep up the great work!)
Legend says Mr Morj is still waiting for the raid to fail to this day
