I think it's important that Saturn calls luffy Nika, not Strawhat Luffy, not even JoyBoy. I think it's because he is old enough to know original Nika and JoyBoy and Luffy are just latest iterations
Perhaps his fruit does? Instead of getting the powers of eating whatever fruit they have, the latter's consciousness takes over the eater. Giving them a sort of quasi-immortality. Explaining why the Gorosei looks old.

Talking of Oda's increasingly sketchy style, I'm an artist myself and I find it fascinating to look at how he's changed over the years. I think you can see an evolution of his style here at first he's a less confident artist and takes great care to painstakingly make everything clear, crisp and bold - typical of less experienced artists. It's like when you're in a job that's new to you and you put great effort into meeting the standards you're guessing you need to meet, then as you get more relaxed in your job, you're less of a tryhard and yet actually better at it.
So, over time, let's say moving through Skypiea, moving through Enies Lobby, you can see it get more confident and at the same time less... engineered? Early on the art is very clear with bold, clean thick lines but there's a slight amateurishness to it like he's not quite sure how to draw certain things. By the time we get to Alabasta and the aforementioned arcs, you see a distinct relaxation where his art is getting better and it looks like he's less worried, less anxious.
But then, as it goes on and perhaps especially post-Dressrosa, it's gets incredibly sketchy. Usually I think, again, it shows confidence and fluency in his artstyle but it definitely goes into "he drew this while dying for a piss and was rushing through it" territory. Sometimes it's like he was seeing if he could get away with drawing it with his off-hand. As you say, he had eye surgery but unless they really blew it I don't think that would affect it - and really if his eyesight was deteriorating it'd be BEFORE his eye surgery that his art would be at its scrappiest. I think he's getting almost too free and easy (too free - that sounds like an ironic thing to say when talking about One Piece) and also, let's be honest, he's been drawing this amazing series for surely about half his entire life now. He must be in serious auto-pilot mode a lot of the time. Sorry about the wall of text but I find this such an interesting part of OP.
So the author of one punch man is truly an artist then jk
@@klarkkant9264 yeah, he really is the ONE
I don’t see anxiety through his faster style, just a mangaka that simply does not have the time to make super clean eye popping art. It’s simply a time thing, as long as the important parts are sold well, that’s all that matters. And his import panels always sell well.
Really interesting comment! Thanks!

Some DF's genuinely just work in an absurdly overpowered fashion. Remember Vander Decken? Man was casually moving a ship comparable in size to the entirety of Fishman Island, and it didn't even seem to be more of a struggle than throwing an axe or shooting some arrows with his ability.
If it is confirmed that Brook's soul RETURNED from the under world, then what did it see during its time in the underworld, because Brook's soul was conscious, it was actively searching around the sea for his body to return too. Means it was Brook's consciousness in soul form. What did he see when he went to the underworld for a brief time period. If true This point has lots of potential to expand on Brook's relevance to the events occuring in the present at egghead. Because Brook sidelined in wano too. It may be possible that Brook has interacted with the ruler of hell too, cause no one can return from there without his permission.
Brooke is one of the god knights brother.
@HeWhoisHim. This is a cool theory, I'd love to see more characters with an ongoing relation to Brook other than laboon, it would be equally cool if an antagonist, possibly a member of the god knights, were an ex member of the rumbar pirates, possibly one that caused the disease that inflicted the crew! It would give Brook an excuse to get serious in his final battle as there would be a revenge element to the fight. I feel Brook really is a side character, tagging along with the crew since thriller bark.
@@jackmarshall2496 Brooke’s objective and backstory are too separate matters. The only reference to the rumbar pirates we have is on the word of others. Brooke’s devil fruit is clearly soul related. So it isn’t far fetched he could retrieve the memories of the dead or something. Plus the government would give the god knights backstories like cp9 during water 7. They wouldn’t walk around the surface with people knowing who they are. They’d be “background” characters, maybe even pirates with low bounties. unless confronted with combat Their role is to maintain real order and report to the top.
@@jackmarshall2496 also notable is that zoro was pissed when he first saw they invited Brooke to join. It’s because zoro knew Brooke could have defeated corpse Ryuma but didn’t. Zoro knew Brooke was a fair degree stronger than corpse Ryuma. But like jar jar binks it goes over everyone’s head. Zoro innately knew Brooke was “bad news”. But Brooke is probably the “kindest” of the god knights. Brooke is like the lady with a blindfold and scales. He is maintaining a balance.
One thing I was wondering is how the 5 elders got picked for their roles because aside from them, I don't see any other nobles who would like the idea of having a "Job" for them to fulfil. Work ethic isn't something they aspire in but demand from others
You vastly underestimate the wants and desires to rule this world.
There is such an importance thematically about a person's will: D, idea of inheriting the will of others, Haki is manifestation if will and Vegapunk suggests that Devil Fruit were created by wishes/will/desire of humanity. I wonder if somehow the true world leader[s] are somehow benefitting from living around people whose only will is immediate self-indulgence and/or slaves whose will may be broken. Perhaps the system of governance and seperation of geography are designed to prevent people with strong wills coming together because they are empowered by the opposite or they fear potential of humans working together.
@@crazybobert5243 Your statement does not answer or invalidate my question tho. If someone had asked how did Roger become the Pirate king the answer wouldn't be "You vastly underestimate the wants and desires to rule this world".
Exactly like, were they working for Imu when the 20 kingdoms came together. Why were Imu’s underlings chosen to be Gorosei, if so?
I wonder why they are the only celestial dragons who dress normally and don’t have a problem breathing the same air as humans like are they mature enough to know that’s bullshit ?
I think Saturn's devil fruit is in control of his body right now, not Saturn. The way he said "ah the surface, its been such a long time" is strange considering Saturn has been on the surface this whole time. Even if he didnt count the boat as the surface for some weird reason he still wouldve passed through land to get to the boat. Additionally, in chapter 1069 Shaka is giving exposition on Lucci's awakening saying "a rare specimen indeed, it's usually the case that awakened zoan powers absorb and control the users personality" i think at least the 5 elders and potentially Imu as well are passing down their devil fruits and once their powers are awakened they come under the control of their devil fruit. This is additionally supported by Saturn calling Luffy "Nika" rather than any other name. It's because he is a being just like Nika, and hes been battling Nika for potentially thousands of years.
The true devil fruit now exists
The Gorosei could be people from the void century who manifested their dream/desire and obtain their power that way. They didn't eat devil fruits, they are among the one who created the powers.
And BlackBeard could have eaten the power (then transfered to a fruit) of a previous gorosei from the void century who died at that time. (But I'd rather have a different origin for that power)
Saturn head explosion could be a very fast attack that the fodder marines didn't see. (the reader also didn't see it assuming we had the perspective of the marines at that moment)
I think the reason egghead feels so good and innovative is because is the first island that has been discovered by random chance since punk hazard like 12 years ago. We didn't know anything about and the crew just stumble into it.
I can't wait for Oda to reveal that Saturn staff is like a mage staff but made by Vegapunk specifically for Saturn, super high tech and that's how he used a teleportation circle from the ship to Egghead.
Random thought: Jewelry Bonnie could also reverse Momonuske back to his correct age.
The elders did mention how they didn't want the gear 5 photo to be in his new wanted poster at the end of Wano so even though so they must have figured out that this was Luffy's Nika form back then, most likely based on the major difference in appearance compared to the previous posters of Luffy. For all we know the poster might have a cropped version of the image cp0 took and the original has the awakening clouds visible which would make it obvious to them.
I had a similar thought, surely the elders can recognize an awakening and they already knew the true name of luffys fruit. Pretty easy deduction imo
Slightly unrelated to this chapter, but I have to say it: I believe Devilfruits are just Haki. The people from the Anchient kingdom knew a technique which let them pour their Haki, their "desire" or "dream" into a fruit, which then when eaten will let them live that dream. I think if you have strong enough Haki you can make any kind of Devilfruit you want. The idea of "inherited will" as we all know, also has a strong presence in One Piece, peoples dreams never die, therefore the Devilfruit which contains their dream reincarnates when the creator dies. Altough this theory still doesn't explain everything, like the no-swimming thing for example, it would fit pretty well with what Vegapunk said about the fruits in this arc. Also I just love the idea that we could have only one powersystem instead of two. Merging Haki with Devilfruits would be so cool.

Baal was the first taught taht came to my mind as well when I read the chapter.
Also do not forget that the ancient robot's specific goal was to eliminate the enemies Located in marigoa, ie. the celestials. Now one of the top head of them just teleported to the island. I think Saturn is up for more of a surprise than the others were of the command hierarchy.
One of the funniest ideas I've seen is that it isn't a DF, and they'll send Saturn into the water only for him to casually swim back to shore
I think it might be pretty hard for Saturn to blow up Stella's head considering how it's split into two. I mean how would that even work? Does the head attached to the main body explode, leaving his actual brain fine, do both explode, killing him, or does the brain in Punk Records explode, causing Stella's body to just flop onto the ground?
0:45 Yes I know this exact feeling of helplessness from nightmares so well, I've occasionally had nightmares where, after getting dropped off by my mom somewhere and realizing I don't want to be there anymore, I try and call her on my phone and it just turns into this anxiety inducing slog of nothing working as it should be
I think the head explode thing is only something Saturn can do to weak or no haki users.
The reason being is that all the lower rank marines don't know about the Gorosei or their forms at least and are never allowed to see them. Because majority of them are not strong enough to even stand looking at them.
In essence I feel it's a way to keep the marines in line should they ever be curious about the higher ups.

It makes perfect sense that brook's summoning circle having 8 points(not technically an octragram, rather it's a seal of Melchizedek), as his trope is music, and music is broken down into octaves(8). Saturn however, is being associated with Satan in this context, and thereby with a pentagram, as Satan is commonly associated with pentagrams. It would've been cool if he used a hexagram for Saturn (sixth planet from the sun) but that's also the star of David, so yeah, i see why this choice was made. Maybe it also has to do with being the 5th Elder star?
Assuming the Elders were all around for the last appearance of Nikka and got immortality from the Ope Ope grow that would mean that the youngest looking one, Jupiter, may actually be the oldest of them having been given his immortality first while the others had to wait for the fruit to be found, eaten and the user trained to the point of being able to perform the surgery.
Think about it a second...
The ope ope fruit is found and understood at X year.
I'm 10 at X year. I am X-10 years old.
You are 35 at X year. You are X-35 years old.
I look 10 and you look 35, You are 25 years older than me. Even 1000 years later, you are still older than me.
Maybe you meant that their apparent ages don't necessarily align with their actual ages, which is true. The oldest probably got the fruit first, since they were aging, and the youngest last, since they had years left before becoming elderly.
Once you hit about 60, every year makes you visibly weaker and more frail. You can't tell the difference between a 29 year old and a 32 year old, but 60 to 63 could mean cancer, osteoporosis, mental decline, and much much more. If I was 59, I'd kill a 29 year old to get that immortality and stop the rapid decline. Chances are the oldest looking ones are the actual oldest ones.
I feel like this discredits that idea. If you include Imu, they found and awakened the Ope Ope fruit 6 times?
I'm looking at that X button pretty seriously right about now.

Magic circles being in the background of the Gorosei introduction in 233 is pretty interesting
Maybe the reason they didn't blow up Sabo's head was that technique can only work if you make eye contact with the victim. The marine probably made eye contact with Saturn.
Edit: What I meant was that regardless of Haki proficiency, maybe the victim must make direct eye contact with Saturn in order for him to use the technique which made that Marines head explode. Sabo never made direct eye contact with any of the Five Elders so maybe that'a why it didn't work on him.
And they probably have to be incredibly weak.

Assuming that Saturn's ability is due to a special kind of devil fruit or because he's some sort of devil, could it be that the giant robot in the basement awakened due to the presence of its enemy instead of Luffy's Nikka form? The giant robot didn't react at all when Luffy first transformed against Lucci but only activated later on when the started fighting Kizaru after the marine ships got relatively close to the island. Coincidence i think not.
Science, once so far advanced, is practically indistinguishable from magic, so this all meshes quite well! Vegapunk also mentioned that the Ancient Kingdom was far, far more advanced than even he could currently decipher, and he's been studying their tech for most of his life. This basically gives Oda free rein to pull out some really crazy stuff. I'm excited to see where this will go next!
Im shocked that no one is talking about that one panel where we see kizaru panting! I knew luffy was strong but this is the first time our captain has actually succeeded in making kizaru put in some effort. Also there's no way that luffy's final punch was just a minor thing. That felt like that really hurt kizaru and he knew that
Let’s not forget about the other mysterious devil fruit power that went unnoticed in chapter 1094. The navy vice admiral with the devil fruit of an otter (the guy with the giant clam shell) as you can faintly make out his transformation when he leapt into the air

My theory about the devil fruits. What if devil fruits are basically fruits given by the devil's that is imu and the five elder stars. Rather than given let's assume it's more like a contract and they have no choice but to send the devil fruits out into the world. Maybe once the devil's(imu) gets taken out the devil fruits seize to exist and haki becomes the main source of power. So if luffy beats imu he should lose his fruit powers and can enter laugh tale(assuming people with devil fruits can't go to laugh tale). This explains a lot of complications and theories of one piece.

As a proud cultist/gang member of the shadow wizard money gang, we do indeed use octagonal square pentagon things
Animating Kuina falling down the stairs while talking about her is wiiiiiild lmao
That was prbly the best closing statement Liam´s ever done XD
The beserk comparison verifies the theory that Liam is cultured
given how Caribou's crew are undertakers I believe that Caribou in Egghead will provide info on the occult powers on display by St. Saturn.
1:46:40 😂
Syv: "Sum'mon'YAY!"
Par: Repeat that...😂😂😂
Syv: "Sum..mon..YAY!
...ALL Sommeliers are crying
I can't wait to see the rest of the Five Elders in action with their dark Mythical Zoans.
I think the order or the gorosei is based on the old geocentric model of the solar system, so the order would be: Mercury (1), Venus (2), Mars (3), Jupiter (4), Saturn (5)
I believe Chopper is a Mythical beast and is one of the Mythical stags from Norse Mythology. A mythical beast who ate HitoHito nomi Model ADAM whose main power is evil clensing, since the Original Adam is free of sin and free of Evils (pain and suffering), this means Chopper is the perfect healer.
Mabey when you become a marine and you have you sign a contract. And they can like explode you by haveing you signature or something
The marine that got his head 'sploded also called him a monster seconds before. That's probably what was with that Liam.
Random thought about the summoning circle but it would be interesting if Imu did have some kind of devil devil fruit, they may be able to grant the gorosei powers in exchange for their loyalty like a faustian bargain.
4:40 I still love the fact that Oda took his inability to draw butts as a challenge and is just sprinkling them all over Egghead just to show off that he can now
Vice Admiral Bluegrass could possibly control the ancient robot
Sabo has balls the size of the one piece universe for straight up saying they can get these hands lol. Can't wait to see what happened to law and what shanks is doing right now.
Stella so smart he use haki without training😂
Oda: it's the final saga and one piece is coming to an end.
Oda: look at all these new things, new questions and butts.
The head exploding could be an extreme version of conquerors Haki. Concentrated and targeted
saturn looks like the dude who attacked the cameras in the labor and now we also know that he can teleport
Blue Grass driving a boulder around like Season 1 spongebob
One thing that came to my mind is that "technically", Coby is not allowed to gaze at Saturn as he is a Captain, a rank below Commodore
My theory is that they had a 5 billion berry bounty on the ope ope no mi because they would make people eat the fruit and then use the immortal surgery to make another gorosei which is why they’re immortal
11:02 holy crap that water bazooka!
The old vice-admiral lady may not be old at all. She has weird grudge about Bonney age-shifting marines, she may have been age-shifted too.
I just remembered that Saturn referred to the others (i.e. humans) on Egghead as "insects". I wonder if that was meant to foreshadow his spider form.
As an avid one piece reader I knew Saturn didn’t kill Black Maria but as a grand line review watcher I’m glad I baited Liam into taking my comment because I knew he would want to address it😂😂😂.
I am worried if Ride - Ride fruit can be used on ancient giant,
If so, Luffy and crew might thoroughly get screwed.
and most possible it will be used for this purpose, If she doesn't get out of action beforehand.
I think the man in the background of the colour spread is the 'Man scarred by flames'. He will turn out to be apart of Zoro's family
In the chapter the gorosei were introduced there are summoning circles on the walls behind them more akin to the one the dark magic guys used to “summon” Brooke. At first when I compared I thought it was a stretch since it didn’t match Saturns circle. But having it match the walls behind the gorosei is too much evidence
