This is one of the saddest songs I know, if not the saddest. Every time I hear it, a lump forms in my throat. It is the clearest example of true friendship, which lasts even after death. Thank you for such a lovely reaction.
Very special song for David and Guy Pratt. You should watch echoes live in Gdansk, their last performance with Rick Wright. David Gilmour said he won't perform that song again without his dear friend Rick. Great reaction 🤗
Glad you decided to react to this one. I kind of wish you had listened to the studio version first just because the harmony between Crosby, Stills and Gilmour is something special. The line that gets me in this song is: What I lost was an ocean And I'm rolling right behind you In this sad barcarolle “I’m rolling right behind you…” The way I take this lyric is he lost an ocean of music, friendship and love with the loss of his friend, but he essentially tells Rick, I’m not far behind you and I’ll see you there.
Such a beautiful song and tribute to the wonderful huge talent that was Richard Wright. Seeing Gilmour stand and sing without a guitar in his hands is strange.
Hello from New Zealand. Thank you so much for this very beautiful reaction. I love David Gilmour's music, and especially his guitar playing. I hadn't heard this one and really loved listening to this heart wrenching sog. Thank you.
Beautiful reaction guys. This is such a beautiful yet heartbreaking song. I actually almost requested it myself a couple of times but it’s a song and performance that I find difficult to watch and listen to sometimes. But I’m so glad David requested it because it’s such an important and beautiful tribute to Richard Wright. ❤
What I lost was an ocean Now I'm drifting through without you In this sad barcarolle What I lost was an ocean And I'm rolling right behind you In this sad barcarolle ... what incredibly relatable words of loss and longing. Polly is definitely the best writing partner for David in the second half of his life. I still mourn Rick's passing, more than any other artist, and there are quite a few... them two spoke to my soul
P.F. sound came from Dave & Rick right.( over 40 yrs together) Dave said once that Rick and him made song writing easy as they new each other what they were thinking. Just watch "Echoes" at Gdansk. (The Barn Jams) the 2 of them did almost all of grammy award winning "Maroon" in 1 night on Dave's houseboat. "Sad barcarolle is a sad folk song sung by a Venetian gondolier. notice Guy Pratt ( bass player ) wipe his face during this.
Great reaction guys.... David, as you know, just knows how to transmit emotions that everyone can understand and feel through his music. I loved this song, live video and your reaction.
Oh God, that made me cry. I've lost friends over the years and as a composer myself I wrote songs about them but can't record or perform them. One thing it does do is help one move past that intense grief and help one come to terms with the fact that everyone dies, but some die way too soon. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
Damn, what a sad song….what a beautiful song….what a lovely tribute to a lost friend. It brought tears to my eyes. And at 77, I can definitely personalize the lyric about @rowing right behind you”. Life is so short, and time moves so fast.
David said one time that he says more with one note than he can speaking, his emotions are in the music. I always wonder if Rick lived what songs would have come about

Beautiful song, but this is the wrong version to listen to: you should listen to the studio version from the album, Rattle That Lock. That version has David Crosby and Graham Nash singing harmonies that are streets ahead of this. My late wife suffered with Alzheimer's, and I discovered that this tune calmed her during periods of aggression and enabled sleep when she went through the insomnia phase. I had it played at her funeral.
Ogni volta che ascolto questa canzone mi scendono le lacrime......DAVID è talmente intenso che mi trasmette emozioni come nessun altro. Lo adoro come il suo grande amico RICHARD......MERAVIGLIOSI❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is my favorite song on the album. I never get tired of listening to it.

What a hauntingly beautiful song! David's music in both Pink Floyd and solo is wonderful. A phenomenal musician. Thank you for reacting to this! ❤ 🇨🇦
One of my favorite songs by Mr. Gilmour
Thank for this reaction!! Beautiful song.
David Gilmour has a new album coming out this year with hopefully a new tour.

If you see the old photos of Polly you will see how amazingly gorgeous she is. Happy for David.

At 54 am I allowed to say this? You are so cute together. Such an amazing dynamic.
