There's Pink Floyd. And then, there's everybody else. People who have seen 2-300 concerts, say PF best by far. Pioneers in sound and laser shows. Anything from the Pulse concert is amazing. Recommend, Sorrow, Comfortable Numb, Money and Great Gig in the Sky. I really look forward to your reaction and interpretation of their lyrics.
Dark side of the moon has sold 50 million albums worldwide and still sells anywhere between 6 to 10000 copies a week!! If you ever do listen to it go straight from the beginning to the end because each song transition seamlessly into the next song. And it's kind of like a birth to death human biography with all the things that happen to a person throughout their life!! Every song is still very relatable to everything going on today and if Dark Side of the Moon came out today it would be relevant with everything going on in the world!!
I'm halfway disappointed you don't run this vinyl periodically. BUT - you should! Also, you're not from where I am from so I get it. Here we're not allowed to leave the house at 18 (per our parents) without passing the Floyd test. Happy Holidays brother!
Pink Floyd is Legendary, no band quite like them, they are on another level all together! These two songs were inspired by one of the four founding members of Pink Floyd in 1964, Syd Barrett. Barretts' story is a sad one, by 1968 he had completely destroyed his brain consuming massive amounts of LSD and other mind-altering drugs. All the while he was also having mental issues, certainly exacerbated by the drugs. By 1968 Barrett had gone completely insane and was forced to leave the band by 1968, David Gilmour took over for Barrett and became an integral part of the band for the rest of Floyds existence. critics The album alone has sold over 60 million copies to date and counting! This 1994 Pulse Concert at Earls Court in London is one of the last few performances of Pink Floyds 1994 "The Division Bell World Tour. The Tour ran from March to October 1994, they performed 111 concerts in 68 cities, in 17 countries, it was the largest world tour att. Every show was sold out, nothing new for Pink Floyd, they sold out virtually all their concerts.
I can't believe you have never listened to Dark Side of The Moon ? A concept album in 2 halves, both dealing with life itself but from different angles, with side 2 ending with Brain Damage and Eclipse, both referencing the mental demise of Syd and the part that society and politics played in Syds problems. Almost all Pink Floyds lyrics are about life itself and most of our lives are shaped and / or controlled by politics. The album Animals is 100% political......Pigs are the leaders ( lords of government, business and religion ). Dogs are the enforcers of the Pigs rule ( police, judges, medical boards / associations and media ). The Sheep are us.......those controlled by the dogs for the benefit of the PIGS.
Interpretations are individual, everyone gets out of it from the perspective they view it from. I love your thoughts on the song. A bit different from mine, but that's to be expected.
Love to see you do more Pink Floyd. Fyi, PF doesn't block their videos as a rule so we can all watch! Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a masterpiece of theirs, highly recommend but they have so many its a great rabbit hole to go down.
This closes the colossal album Dark Side,,, except it ends with the heartbeat which starts the album, A Full Circle,.. No not mental illness,, it's what propaganda from wealthy press and media does to people, It tells them their opinions, It creates the lunacy you say is very present today,
The best Pink Floyd song is the one you would currently be listening to! Try : Echoes Pink Floyd live in Pompeii 1972. Any song from their "Wish You Were Here" album. Or Dogs, "Pigs Three Different Ones" or Sheep all from their album "Animals"! I could give you a huge list but this is a good start! Enjoy your candid attitude regarding what you're listening to!! They do have an incredible sound that is their own!
Finally caught up with all the series, lots of strong contenders for the podium =) I wonder if YT promotes Fils reactions properly, Ive seen some really low views on several reactions that should have reached a bigger audience , some from my own series and some from others.
Fil, as, Sonja said, this is about a previous band member, Syd Barrett who took a wrong turn with drugs. Syd's impact on the band would generate some classic songs from them. #QcumberSquad #PinkFloyd - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
Animals album based on 1984, seems fitting especially Dogs, one of my favorite PF songs. Echoes, live at Pompeii, 1971, shows their massive talent, even then. Who gets to play at Pompeii, twice?
Fil, you’ve been missing out on some good Pentatonix bangers🙏🏼Their VEVO studio rendition of Seal’s Kiss From a Rose is not to be missed. Neither is their O Holy Night and Pure Imagination/Christmas Time is Here mashup. We Pentaholics have missed you❣️😿
As for your reaction today..... Thanks man, I love watching someone (who actual has a point of view) experience something I grew up with. It doesn't matter if you HATE IT! or if you simply miss something that seems obvious. There's plenty of music I don't like but clearly other people love, neither of us are "wrong" (even if its Rap😂) I simply don't understand why you would comment that someone else "got it wrong!" it's art, not a maths exam paper! 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Unfortunately, there are those who are due-hard and expect reactors to know the details of every artist BEFORE a reaction. This defeats the whole purpose of a reaction and 9 times out of 10 Fil is spot-on.
Yeah, Roger talks about Syd all the time. Interesting. You have reactions to Snarky Puppy and Sean Mendez but none to Jacob Collier? He's worked with both of them and many more. He's also the unparalleled multi-instrumentalist musical genius of our age. Years back he did "All Night Long" and "Moon River" that won one of his 5 Grammys and more recently he's done "Little Blue" and "Witness Me" both of which have heavy choral elements added. In between there are all kinds of genres, both solo, collab and with orchestras.
The relatively lyrics on the album The Dark Side of the Moon, may be relatively few but every word is carefully crafted to do the job. The entire album is a social / economic Bible for life at the time, but terrifyingly, it simply became more and more relevant, hense it charted for well over 14 YEARS! Best done in two hits (side 1 / side 2) simply because tracks transition directly into each other and themes follow, so hitting a single track might have a slightly odd chopped off end. So on top of Roger Waters concise lyrics you have the sheer beauty of Dave Gilmours guitar, the delicate keyboard work of Richard Wright and the rock solid drums from Nick Mason. And then, in 1973 the mix contains synth and recorded sounds we simply had never heard on an album before.
If you want to see the guys playing in an empty ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics just Gods playing to the Gods Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972 I advise Part 1 only as Part 2 starts with an extended soundscape not great as a reaction piece but Part1 is off the scale!
If I were Britt,I would've been proud of; not cuisine of course (😂) but rather Pink Floyd,Monthy Python,David Beatles Ziggy Bowie Freddy & Queen - the band of course & Shakespeare Will, rather than David Hume & John Stewart Mill! Greetings from Adriatic Sea - Dalmatia/Croatia 🍺

Are in my HAAAALL 🎶🤬🎈🙏🌕🌔🌓🌒🌑 And you sir, totally misread the topic! Its not so political, more existential... sorry for outburst, but I've been Floyd fan for almost 30 yrs! If you like the tune, spun the whole album.Peace🎉
Nice! Finally Pink Floyd on your channel! Go down that rabbit hole. It is a life changing experience!
The song is about the mental breakdown of the band's former member, Syd Barrett, who suffered from schizophrenia
best band of all times 😎👍
My all time favourite band. The depth of PF lyrics is mind blowing. Roger waters has an amazing talent to write songs with meaning.
welcome to pinkfloyd world
If you’re going to go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole, pack your bags you’ll be gone awhile. It’ll be a fun trip.

There is no bad Pink Floyd songs. Should you dare go down that rabbit hole… your life will be changed forever.

'Animals' is based on George Orwell's "Animal Farm".
try "high hopes" from the same concert
That was going to be my second choice .❤

Pleeeeaaaasssssseeeeeee do more PF. Thank you. You are very handsome.
there are a lot of lunatics so the song can apply to anyone but IMO its both political and refers also to what happened to Syd.
