I just hit A+ this weekend & one of the biggest things that I think gets overlooked even in A lobbies are defending your position & proper overtaking. It's such a huge subject that probably needs its own video, but drivers tend to overestimate their car or their ability in a short moment which causes incidents. Had to defend a lot this past week in Gr.3 Trial Mountain reverse, regardless of my fast pace in the Genesis X.
Me too… right now I can only focus on getting faster, defend the inside occasionally and overtakes happen mostly due to a mistake by the driver in front of me.
I'm so frustrated. Spent 500 on a nice set up, set lap times fast enough to be in the top 5 at least in most lobbies but I can't seem to stay out of the way of the dirty" guys. Is it time to just invest in PC rig and pay for I Racing?
I think the number one thing I had to learn is that driving line is the most important thing. Your acceleration and braking will come together no matter what if you’re taking the proper driving line. If you brake too little or too much, it throws your driving line off and you’ll be slower. If you accelerate too soon, or too late coming out of a corner, your driving line is now off and you’re going to be slower. Learning the proper racing line is more important than anything else. Everything else falls into place if you’re driving the correct driving line.
I will turn the racing line on during my practice sessions and braking points on, and see how far up I can go with the baking points without going off the racing line. Thanks.
@@desimguy2022 the thing that got me to A rating was running the time trial on the daily race B and C and using one of the top time drivers as a ghost and just staying as close to them as possible and making sure to try and follow their line. you start to notice braking points and turn-in points etc. there are also lots of markers on the track like tire marks and rubber marks in braking zones and intro the corners etc to help with all that as well. little things like that will really start to help.
@@skltr21 I have to disagree with your opinion about the driving line For me I knew the right line for a long time but was still off almost 1.5 seconds to the world records I think it's more important to learn how to brake into the corner to get more rotation and how to prepare the complete corner so I have good acceleration off from the corners I lost most of my time during slow corners where your braking input is extremely important and where you have to setup the car during the corner for acceleration Right know I'm 0.5 seconds off the record laps and to be honest I find it's hard to improve even more

Same here brother. I just broke thru B DR and been racing against some A/A+ drivers and man they are quick. 😂. Trying to trail brake on controller is challenging so I’ve decided to save up for an entry level wheel and this “should “ improve my lap times 🤞🏼
As a B rated driver on a controller, I became faster once I got better at trail braking. I accomplished this bu putting my controller trigger effect to weak instead of off. This gives me a little resistance to braking and I don't have to always rely on guessing how far to hit the brake trigger.

My biggest advice to drivers who are at that A level but are struggling with trail braking and throttle control is to add a 15% deadzone to the start of your brake pedal, if you have a duel sence edge controller you can also do this, i promise this will help you alot especially in gr3
I'm sorry to say but that is the worst advice you can give anybody. You want minimal deadzone at all times. It's way harder to to trail brake with 15% les input. It makes the brake pedal less precise.

For me, it’s all about keeping the tires happy. Don’t over work or over heat them during the race and pace will come naturally. This aspect is obvious in other sim racing titles, but somehow overlooked in GT7.
People ignore that GT7 has tyre temperature, mostly because they probably don't even know they are there and that's the game's problem. You need separate apps to see them and they really influence your tyre wear more than your lap times
@@KepleroGT I can feel the grip varying slightly depending on how much scrubbing/sliding I am doing. This makes a huge difference if you are pushing it to the limit in the top split lobbies because the car starts becoming more unpredictable.
Great video, i love your content. I have a issues tho with GT7. Now, i am by no means a quick driver, at them moment i am B rated, close to A but i was doing some daily races a while back and was starting around 3rd to 5th. So, i left the lobby and tried to improve my quali time, which i did by almost .600 of a second. So, there i was thinking, this has to be a front row start as my previous time was only 2 tenths from pole. To my disappointment, instead of moving up the grid, i was almost in second split. It put me with a load more A, A+ rated drivers. I am never going to improve from there with those drivers, so i just don't bother now, i cannot see the point in trying to improve when i get put with drivers that i am never going to beat, really don't get the grading of GT7.
Haha, I have the same problem. On GT Sport, I was C rated and always finished in the bottom half. I recently got GT 7, and I'm currently D rated, but I don't want to race anymore because I have a lot more fun fighting for podiums. I have only one win, and that's when I finished third, but the two drivers in front of me didn't know about the mandatory tyre change and got penalised.
Don't get discouraged. I was in the same place as you (high B, low A), being able to win B lobbies but not good enough for A lobbies. Now I'm a high A, consistent battling and sometimes beating A+ drivers. The key thing is practice, getting better at understanding the racing line, being more aggressive with my break points, and just putting in the time. You'll get better.

Nice video! I’m barely hanging on to A, but in case I drop to B I can often get back up to A again very quickly and the circle goes around again. I can run decent lap time at my level following a fast ghost but when I’m in a race I always drive in a poor rhythm and bad lines… and how to cop with changing conditions like tire wear and even weather? How do you know how to adjust with changing conditions?
Wind won't make too much different, but tyres will. Let's say you can brake at 150 with soft tyres. With mediums you can do it at 170-175. With hard around at 190-200. Also this doesn't take speed into account. And also with every 10% of tyrewear brake about 2-2.5 m sooner than on a brand new set. It also depends on the car so this is just a rough estimate.
im switching between DR A und DR B since a long time. No chance to hold the DR A for a longer time. I think im knowing why (not smooth enough while turning, breaking and accelerating), but it is hard to adjust my driving to be better. furthermore im not patient enough :)
Hello, I always watch your videos and trying to find ways to improve. At the moment I’m a beginner A+ driver (50-55kDR), loosing about 0.8-1s/minute from the top of the leader board (…..or 0.8 from your lap times). I know trail braking know weather, each type of car(FR/MR/AWD), trail etc and i don’t know how to improve from here to top level or yours level and there algae not been any videos to help improve from beginners A+ to expert A+ and I think these are 2 different categories. So, would you give some advices or want to make a video specific to when to know all to how to perfect lap times (….like gaining the last 0.1-0.2 every corner)??…..always with thanks
First check your brakes, spend some time testing what is the right amount of pressure you need for each corner. Look at your replay and the replay of the fastest guy. I can tell you there is always something different, so try to copy that. When you copy the lap a couple of time you start to understand what the car can and can't do. I know it may sound too simple but it gave me so much in the last year or two.
I’m 30 days of gaming in GT7, I’m DR A. Maybe I’m not super fast but I can be extremely consistent during race. But sometimes I’m still 1 sec slower than others. How can I get coached from you?

I am in the same position, and it is unfortunate that. A lot of drivers in B/S think they should be in A, and will go all-out to get there, even if it means using push-to-pass techniques. Would love to see a video on how to prevent or avoid getting taken out.

I saw a massive 3 car crash online the other day and as I flew past them I was thinking "I hope they don't think I caused any of that" then a few laps later when they caught me up, I was on full alert, two overtook me with really good clean lines and then the next turn I saw the third closing down on me and decided I'm going to give him the position and let him turn into the apex before me. He was obviously expecting me to turn in because he flew straight past me at what looked like full throttle. I was laughing so much I almost binned it.
I never race for Ranking… and GT5 is not my Job, thats like Hobby. Im fine in B and good for A, but the dirty Drivers in ALL Ranking, so i dont need to waste my time only for this A! 😎
Ok brother heres what i think is the most common mistake drivers make, and noone addresses it. Stop looking at the 20 feet of pavement beyond the bumper! Look ahead. Way ahead. Stop looking for your brake point. Look at the turn! Dont try to compute the angular momentum....your brain does that based on the previous information fed into it. Its like catching a fly ball...if you look to where youre supposed to run to catch it you take your eye off the ball. Thats basic in sports but passed over in racing. I know this sounds contrary to your precise braking point lookout but i feel like your emphasis on this particular point sort of distracts people from the corner. So basically they end up not preparing for rhe corner but preparing to look for the spot that designates the beginning of the corner. I understand the importance of a good braking point...but a good breaking point is 100% dependant on your current speed. If you got a bad exit out of last corner your fast lap braking point will make you slower. Whereas if your pov(ducks rotten vegetables) is set correctly and your brain 'believes' it you can just use talent and not a strict point where 'THIS IS THE SLOT TO BRAKE AND NOWHERE ELSE' which is how i feel the emphasis in this subject leans.... Sorry. Im old and when someone listens i talk...
I don't want to be the one saying this, but this video barely scratched the surface. First of all, after watching the video I don't know what you learnt after 500 hours of coaching in GT7. But you didn't even mention something like the racing line. It looks like it's just brake and accelerate, and that will do. No, it won't. You didn't mention track limits. There are many tracks where there's a lot of time to be gained by exploiting track limits. You didn't mention anything about racecraft, strategy, how to approach races. I don't know. The advice "be very precise, load a replay from the fastest driver and copy him"... well, what do I need coaching for, then? It's not a bad advice at all, but advice should be aimed to make people naturally faster, and to teach them how to learn and go fast by themselves without having to copy other people. Also, shifting gears... Man, I like how you communicate your points, but please try to do this in a series of a little more in depth videos aimed to different skill levels, covering the basics.

Meanwhile Kie25 was teaching toxic students how to drive dirty , ram other racers and how to blame bad their driving on other racers
Really? I have to see that. It sounds hilarious.
@@jamesoshea580 Hahahaha. I love when that stuff happens
I hope that makes sense...
It does make sense, this should be included in part 2
You dont look like the same person from the side as for the front of the camera 😮
Better or worse 🤣
OK, Mike Ross.
I dont see why people coach in this game, its a game to be enjoyed by yourself or with friends
Im playing with DR C to B. Promote and demote..
Okay, the points that I made was about what I found to be the problem, if you just clicked on the channel there are multiple videos about every specific point:

Training is useless, has to come from self skill. Im rank A+ just by practicing
