#Bujingai #ps2classic #gackt - Ігри
To be fair, Gackt IS a musician by trade. It makes sense that the music would go balls out.
Fun fact, this game was reportedly one of the games that ZUN worked on while he had a dayjob as a game programmer.
DUDE so much wasted potential, i really didn't like some aspects of 2hu (esp its fandom) but this game was kinda rad
@@uberwow13I've only played the main games in passing, and I'm not really invested in the lore or the... "lore." imo the best thing about 2hu is the fighting games. The story modes play like fighting game versions of boss fights, and there's a surprisingly active competitive scene for 12.3
I ain't gonna lie, Lau would probably feel right at home in Gensokyo. I'm confident he could easily hold his own in a fight against a good chunk of the Touhou characters for the most part, though it'd probably be a little strange considering what kinds of demons he's used to fighting. Because whereas the demons in his home game all look fittingly monstrous and terrifying in appearance, the vast majority of Gensokyo's non-human residents all look like cute girls. Hell, the fact that Touhou's cast of characters is very predominantly female leaning would probably make him stick out even more just solely for the fact he's a dude lol 😅😂
i was in first grade when a girl came up to me and said, “i got this game but i think you’d like it more” before giving me it - this was that game. it was waaay too hard for me to beat at that age, but it holds a special place in my heart and gives me nostalgia to see it mentioned lmfao.
It's crazy how many games from this Era are just unknown or not widely known even with cult classic qualities. This game looks sick.
This game unironically rules!
It has my favourite final boss of any game cuz he surfs on a huge sword and helps you back up if you fall off the arena. Also the enemy that let's you fly forward as long as you're hitting it is perfect for an action game with platforming
As a Gackt fan for over 20 years, this was a great game and I had loads of fun playing it back in 2004-- I remember playing it right after playing "Chaos Legion" (another fantastic game). Thanks for reminding me of this-- great video.
Fuck I love Chaos Legion.
I also bought Bujingai at a gamestop yeaaaaars ago for like a dollar. Fun times.
Thank you for remembering Chaos Legion!!! Lol
yall are my people! i thought i was the only person in the world that played bujingai and chaos legion!
astral chain was the spiritual sequel to chaos legion if you haven't heard of it / played it! unfortunately it's a switch exclusive.
I love Chaos Legion
Damn, those animations are something else. Just the way the combat looks with the trail effects from the weapons, especially when you're fighting bosses that also have them, are so damn cool!
Love that finally someone covered this game, its extremely underrated.
I hope you do the other red entertainment game released over in the west "Blood Will Tell". Although that one might be really hard to find a physical copy of.
Blood Will Tell was a sick game! I remember my friend and I just grinding the hell out of that game for kicks
Yeah that’s one of the few games I will cover but won’t be using a physical copy since they are $400+ on eBay and that’s way out of my price range especially a game I’ve never played before
Physical copies are for the birds, emulation exists, why would I want to pay out the ass for some garbage cd that will die to data rot in 10 more years? lmao
I mean I can easily just play them on a modded ps2 which circumvents all issues with emulation and costs me $0 which is what I am going to do
This game and Fossil Fighters leads me to believe that RED Entertainment has a knack for hidden gems.
gungrave too, RED was the sleeper studio making bangers in the 6th gen
@@Cvit if you haven't already played Fossil Fighters, then I recommend it for a video. It's great, and I believe it goes for similar prices as Gackt. My only problem is that some of the bosses are bullshit. Still a great time.
This game was so dope. From the animations to the gameplay
I still have my original ps2 copy!
The game mechanics have so much potential…
I only remember this game because during X-Play's review of it years back, they had a running joke called "Bujingai or Bujingirl?" and they made jokes at the appearance of the main character. Definitely a very specific memory.
God of war copy this game
Played this on an emulator. I can confirm that this emulates pretty well
I had this when I was a kid back when it came out. I didn't know you could level things up. I played the whole game, when I beat it I thought that i was the hardest game I ever played. Didn't know about leveling up until I watch a long play.
god, its almost crazy to think back and note that there were many crazy games that came out on the ps2. im just having flashbacks all this mad querky and different games that are lost in time and for the life cant remember any sort of relevant info to search for them, there was just so much , really a crazy era for gaming
Gackt is weirdly attractive. The music reminds of metal gear rising
The fact that this game released in Japan on Christmas Day is a rare occurrence.
It should be called Ninja May Cryden: GACKT 🤣
Happy 20th anniversary!
The Castle Super Beast boys mention this game from time to time. It's fucking wild seeing it actually being played tbh.
So THAT'S what Genesis was up to after Crisis Core.
Okay but if I'm not being blind here, one of the outfits you're using is Gackt's outfit from his movie MoonChild that he co-starred in with Hyde. Nice little Easter Egg. I really need to do a video on MoonChild. I just started a new show where I watch movies with other people and just dog on the movie the whole time; we should watch MoonChild together and make a video out of it.
Played this game ages ago and it always stuck with me. The flashiness of the clashes is still unmatched in my opinion.
Me too, there is something about this game that is unforgettable
"Huh wonder what that cool looking samurai western game is called" it's called samurai western.
A review of the janky, but fun, Gackt character action game Bujingai in 2022. See, this is the content I subscribed for.
The clash system in this game is such an amazing idea that I would love to see explored in more games. I have yet to play an action game that gamifies a flashy sword fight better.
I had forgotten memories of this game that I went crazy trying to find it. I remember hitting those mirrors or drums(?) and bouncing off them. Those enemies with the claws in the bamboo forest looked familiar too. I've finally found what I was after!
I remember spamming the spin attack on the bamboo forest to level up since you got a soul orb for every slice of bamboo till you destroyed the entire forest.
Journey through the Decade's worth of Bargain Bin Titles
Also, been catching up on Chaos Draft Season 2 and your opening is unironically amazing. I've got faith.
Cvit is one of the most underated UA-camrs ever. No matter the subject of the video, he always makes it entertaining. I might just be biased because his voice is smooth like butter and I just enjoy listening to him talk hours at a time
I have heard about it, some guy made a video of him playing it and I just thought it was funny Gackt kept getting put into videogames.
My dad and I played this game a bunch as kids, always love to see it get more recognition. I'm glad the OST is on Spotify lol
I've heard of this game. I read a 3 page IGN review for it, and it was actually a well-written and detailed review. Pretty novel for the time. It definitely peaked my interest, but not enough to go out and purchase it.
I just find it amusing that one of the best features of this game was the fact that even IGN had to TRY when they reviewed it back in the day.
Unfortunately it prolly won’t be but This would be crazy if it got remastered
Love your videos so much always get so hyped when they drop
This game is underated, back in ps2 this game have one of the most awesome battle system…the parry and stuff its actually awesome
Loved the video, I really love watching your editing streams. Keep up the great work
I’m so glad you made a video on this i fuckin adore the animations in this game it’s a genuine banger
Its parry system was ahead of its time being simple and visually flashy all the same.
I remember seeing this in a magazine, and had to have it.
I was a big fan of Malice Mizer.
This game was fun (coming from a thirty four year old)
Saw this on the PS2 game list on Backloggd and it captured my interest. So happy to see you play it too
I remember playing this after I found it on a demo disk. Had so much that I had to get the full game. It was really fun experience from what I remembered. Might need to replay it at some point.
I remember someone just giving me this game as a kid and I was blown away with how badass and cool the game was. I never ever heard anyone ever mention this game in my life and I completely forgot the name of the game because it wasn't in English for my young mind to comprehend.
But my God was this game so fucking cool to me as a 9 year old.
This was one of the last games I bought for my Ps2 without knowing anything about what I was going to encounter. And I glad It happened that way, this game is a jewel indeed.
Such a shame we'll never see something like this again.
PS: I never figured out that Gackt was the guy who voiced Gackupo for Vocaloid, pretty curious.
PS-2: I got spoiled ;w; but I'm glad that I found a good review in the 2022. Thanks for the video.
The “sword fights” (“duels”) in the game are so amazing when one knows a bit how to play and gets to the higher difficulty levels.
And haven’t yet played any other fighting mechanic quite like it. There’s many popular “sword fighting” games that are just plain bad in gameplay mechanic comparison.
It's not forgotten, I think about Bujingai 2 often
Thank you for finding this I been looking for years to remembering the name of this game .
This game felt like a fever dream when I was a kid
Fun fact: Gackt also play role as AR Riderman
I used to pump 100s of hours into this game. Hooked me right away. The combat was insanely solid. Metal gear rising borrowed so much from this games combat. Such a freaking hidden gem.
Thank you for the video! Man the nostalgia. Got a Bujingai demo disk that I played too many times it broke.
6th gen is just full of banger action games. Praying that you or someone would eventually cover Shinobi, Nightshade, Chaos Legion and I-Ninja
Wait a minute. This isnt the Journey Through The Decade music video clip.
Thank you Cvit for informing me about action games I never heard about
This brought back so many memories. I remember getting this game from the pre-owned section for dirt cheap, but MY GOD!, the gameplay was way ahead of its time
Vaguely remember playing this once at a friend's house briefly, thanks for digging it up from the obscure PS2 mine!
I love how the literal only reason why i first bought this game is because i recognized Gackt thank to Dirge of Cerberus introducing me to him.
God damn the game ended up being so fun.
This game was such a serve. I bought it on PS2 in 04 or 05 as soon as I heard about it.
Gackt is also a martial arts practitioner, and takes it and fitness very seriously.
His pre-Genesis days
One of my favorites, thankd for taking about this slept on game
Loved the last fight back in the day, would drag it out on purpose cause the music and combat
oh god i loved this game as a kid!
Man I used to have this along with Shinobi! Such fire ass games!
Me and my best bud had a blast playing this back in the day. That parkour sky board...
It was a fever dream when I got this game.
The narrative/cutscenes were jumping all over the place, I thought my disc was bugged.
4:20 Trogdar, little cousin of Trogdor the Burninator.
Yeah, I'm definitely playing this one day. I looked at reviews of this game not too long ago on Backloggd that tried to convince me it wasn't worth it, but this video was the best thing I've seen about it. Thanks!
It's not good but it's not bad either.
i always thought this game was a fever dream i had 10 years ago when i was a teen
Also, this game manages to have a meaningful taunt/style system well before DMC did. By holding Square after most moves and combo enders, you can strike a sick kung-fu pose and hold it for as long as like (while being vulnerable all the while). These poses look similar to those you get off certain clashes and restore one point to your defense pedals. More importantly, those poses factor into your "Stylish" rankings at the end of missions. So while DMC3 finally nailed a Style system that actually rewarded you for being daring and creative (DMC 1 and 2 basically had glorified combo counters), Bujingai predates it and overtly rewards you for being dangerously stylish. Rawr.
Im big fan of this kind of games but never heard about this one. Looks really interesting.
Games like these are why I do my emulation on a Steam Deck. Having those extra buttons on the back allows you to have essentially all your buttons available while still keeping both thumbs on the analog stick, and therefore allow you to wall-run and jump while controlling the camera. You can even force the inverted horizontal camera back to normal through either the Steam or PCSX2 settings.
gotta tell you this game was legendary in different levels!!!!!! masterpiece
I loved the art style animations in this game.
In the final fight, if you fall off the platform, the villain grabs your hand and throws you back... i thought that was so cool!
I never forgot about it and I've never seen anything like it again.
Never heard of this game before until I watched the Guiltless Pleasure of Shadow the Hedgehog video that shown clips of this game as “bad” games that are fun.
Now this is on my radar to find. Plus I LOVE Dual-wielding Sword characters so I have to try it out!
Used to own this game like 10 years ago. Not actually sure where I got it, but my sister and I loved it. Keep forgetting the name of it, but sometimes my memory just kicks in and was able to find it. Downloading the ISO right now to play it and to have it archived.
never heard of this game but i was a huge fan of gackt in middle school! ill give this a go
Love all your videos man, even the P5 one. Can’t wait for the Yakuza 2 video, looking forward to it.
Yeah, I mastered all those hidden moves with timing and holding buttons! Great game! I still have it somewhere around here! 😂
I love these ps2 videos with all of my being
Looks like a mix of Shinobi and Ootogi
holy shit Imma play this. Cheers mate!
We need a remaster
As an old school Gackt fan, I had no freaking idea this existed. I know what Im doing this weekend lmfao
yo compré el PS2 solo para poder jugar este juego, pero nunca lo encontré T_T. amo a Gackt.
0:38 LOL i doing the exact same thing, i'm browing all the ps2 game to discover games and i discover this one, so i search if people speak about the game and i find you ^^
I liked the quirk of the intro replaying your own initial gameplay from different angles with the title music.
I remember this game being on the big screens at the Tokyo Game Show, in 2002 or 2003 maybe? Was a bit of a biggish deal at the show, especially with Gackt being a celebrity and all. There was a bit of talk about the colours of trail when the sword is swung and how the moves were reminiscent of Chinese theatrical kung-fun dances. I remember the game's trailer being on one of the free DVDs they would give away at the show.
Way back in the day, I actually found it at the bottom of the clearance game bin, hilariously enough. $10 bucks for one of my favorite games of all time.
I liked this game SO FUCKING MUCH back in the day, I didn't even know who Gackt was LOL
Seems like PS2 was tryna have an answer for Onimusha
Great game thank you for introducing me to this game looks like fun
I remember randomly picking this up at a local Toys R US back in 2004 since I wanted something "unique" to play. Looking back on it, I'm glad that I bought it because it's one of those rare titles that a lot of people didn't know existed and I had a blast playing the game throughout.
Seriously one of my fav ps2 games, in jp it doesnt make sense either and i really love it. Its such a mood and i always thought it was funny to see gackt in game settings since its like idk seeing taylor swift or JB in your local b rated game😂 seriously know many pple hate him but i really appreciate the memes this men creats
Its astounding to me how this combat system is exactly what I've been wishing for in a anime game that goes balls to the walls with making it like well an anime, and yet this game is over a decade old and the only game to have its spirit return with the gameplay is Phatom blade 0, HOW HAS THIS COMBAT SYSTEM NOT BEEN RECREATED
First MRGSTAR321 returns from the void, and now this? This was a great day!
The OST is fire ! They went HARD on thr music
Great review for an underrated title. Appreciate the explanations for the undocumented mechanics too.
6:20
There’s several different combo move buttons. When you leave “the selected combo move button” down at the end of the combo, the character will do a “stylish point” increasing pose at the end. I think there’s 3 or 4 poses.
Been over 10 yrs since the last time I played the game so rly can’t remember…
Since you didn't mention it here, I thought it would be worth noting that this game actually received a manga adaptation over in Japan back in 2004 called Bujingai: Zanou Densetsu. Unfortunately it wasn't released in the US and there currently isn't any place to read the entire thing online, so there's no English translation of it. But I have managed to find a few screenshots of some pages and panels from it on Twitter. And I've gotta say, the artwork for it looks rather nice, and I can appreciate that they gave Lau a bit more of a fleshed out personality compared to how he was originally depicted in-game.
Gackt casually dropped this and Texhnolyze's OST in the same year with no chill at all
Oh nice someone finally talking about this game
I managed to pick up a copy about 2 years back, and it's a really good action game despite the lack of a story and stiff controls.
FINALLY, someone sees it's true potential after all these years! lol Seriously though, I always wanted this game when it came out but could never afford it at the time. All I could was look at the trailer over and over again. Nice to see it getting some love, I might try to seek this game out now.
I'm super excited for the Yakuza 2 video but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy these short form reviews.
I miss fun forgotten games like this today. Most AAA games aren't worth buying at launch anymore.
PS1 has fun forgotten games too like Covert Ops Nuclear Dawn/Chase The Express. Resident evil meets Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter.
