I'm from Australia and I saw this in an out of date magazine back in 2008 when I was 11. Being a fan of the original arcade game and being a huge horror hound, I BEGGED my grandma to get it for me and she drove through 3 towns to buy it. She aimed to redeem herself because a previous Christmas I had asked her for Mortal Kombat Unchained and she got me a Free Willy 2 DVD (I hadn't seen Free Willy 1... I was grateful, but she knew I didn't get what I wanted that year). Eventually, she gave it to me and was completely ecstatic. What no one would expect was the birth of a yearly tradition where she would buy me a video game, I would open it up and play it in front of her and she would be ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED at what she had exposed me to. Altered Beasts' transformations made that years' Christmas living room completely silent. I'm not sure if my family was silent because of my taste or if everyone was silently rethinking what they thought of my white bread schoolteacher grandma for getting me violent games. Before she retired she was a schoolteacher and she'd try to buy me appropriate gifts, but as I grew up she knew I wanted edgier stuff so she would have to let her nature go and get me what I had asked for. So thanks Nan! PS the next time she'd buy me a video game it would be Fallout New Vegas. She made my childhood amazing. In my adulthood I like to remind her of those days and she remains horrified

Honestly a character action/hack and slash combat system where you play as a shapeshifter is really cool and has tons of potential if more polished. Imagine if you could play as V but instead of summoning different creatures, you take their forms.
This game actually reminds me of the PS2 Ben 10 games as they had a similar mechanic transforming into various alien forms for combat and exploration if they changed the gameplay and mechanics a bit this game could've turned out pretty well.
Oh, hey, this is the game that gave me nightmares as a child, despite loving the transformation gimmick. I tried so many times to play it, but as a scarely 8-9 yo's child that was terrified by gore, it was really hard to play (That intro cut-scene was terrifying to me). But man, what a disappointment knowing now that it had a ton of potential but never came to it, such a shame.
I remember giving this game so many chances, even as a kid i could feel this had some "diamond in the rough" potential but it can be SO frustrating at times, it became so repetitive that i never got around to giving it a 57th shot as an adult(and i dont think i will lmao, but im curious to see what you think of it)
I really liked this game as a kid, I haven't played many games that use multiple transformations as a gimmick. A reboot/remake would be nice to see how well the mechanics could be expanded on.
There were a few PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era 3D platformers that had multiple transformations as part of the gameplay, mainly Scaler and Dr. Muto. Scaler is all about lizards, and Dr. Muto has you turn into different animals. In both instances, though, you can't transform between any form on the fly. Rather, there's specific areas where a transformation will be made available to switch through. For a good video on Scaler, i'd recommend looking up Petronious' video on it (he does *good* video stuff), and for Dr. Muto, a user by name of Calcom also delivered on this front. Both games were also covered by Nitro Rad. There was also Shifters (of Might and Magic). It had interesting ideas as well, like 6 or 8 total types of transformation: Beastman, Undead, Djinn, Alien demon, Cyborg and Machine from what i remember. They all had some exclusive spells you could get from them, could be leveled up twice with special transformation points found in the environment or from leveling up, AND you had a choice between two variants of what a Lvl. 3 transformation would look like, often one being focused on Magic and the other on Melee (like a goth Jafar-looking thing with orbiting shurikens, or a very buff blue genie with a polearm for, well, the Genies). BUUUUT it also had a lot of problems and shortcomings. Early transformations fall by the wayside in terms of damage output, even if they're a lvl 3, compared to normal human form with any new and better gear you find; different attack animations between enemies don't seem to matter much, if at all; and most spells you gain by getting a new Transformation can be used in basic human form too. And finally there's Primal. I recommend looking up Grim Beard's video on that one, it's *really* good.

Man, I remember getting absolutely walled by the toads on the ceiling in the wall and never finishing the game. Tried to nail them with the werewolf spin and the yeti ice blocks but never managed it.
I think this game should come back in the newer consoles but go for something that is more DMC style, the beast forms acting like Dante's weapons that you switch from on the fly First ditch the Green bar, if you are staying as a beast most of the time, it stops being temporary from to a hindrance that nags at you. instead Green should be like your Special magic attacks, or Feral attacks as I'd call it Now for how the beasts work Luke: is your healing form. he is hand to hand but a weak version of Dante's guns using a MP5 to keep the combo and juggling going. The Dick grab is now for healing. while in Luke form you heal slightly faster but take MORE damage, this is a animal kingdom were talking about, Humans don't belong Werewolf: is your Rebellion, the good old return to when threaten form, the claw swipes are faster, the charge tackle is your stinger letting you push enemies out of the way to get close and personal, and the swipes up keep the pain going, Switch to Luke to fire off Shots to keep the bar still, Ground enemies can be eaten to recover health, But be warned it's risky, and getting Hit could allow your meal to get back up, turning the hunter into the prey Mereman: is your trapper Speed form, In water it's like Zora link, on land it's used to dodge faster and land seeking water shots, a weaker rocket launcher. Think Trickster style. It can create Water Traps for the wolf to hop up and Air combo Yeti: is your heavy, the hits are SLIGTLY faster cause they can clear a room, add grabs to keep a enemy cornered for the Wolf to lay the chip damage, Use Ice rocks to throw and creature Slower splash damage to freeze enemies and Icicle spears to Impale enemies, Thanks for the inspiration Kameo Gurudas: is your stronger Range attacker, think the Shotgun for Dante but mixed with the legs of Balrog from DMC 5. This form can replace Luke's guns but are slightly slower then Luke's MP5, BUT pack a punch. Add fast kicks from those Talons to stun enemies for Yeti or Wolf to finish Minitour: is Ifrit from DMC 1, Slow but when timed right can clean house and lay TONS of damage! Yes Phil that is alot of Damage. Add the ability to turn into a metal Statute like Tanooki Mario to block unlockable attacks and you can Counter with a strong charged Headbutt! So pretty much Ifrit and Royal Guard Dragon: Dragon is your devil trigger but acts like Nevan and Alastor, The Dragons tail acting as a whip like Electric Sword for crowd control as it's Breath and hands when Charged like Nevan, is used to send bolts of electric energy. You'll feel like Palatine when this Dragon is on the field, but be warn, the power isn't Unlimited, you have a time limit. Ironic that you get this form after Fighting Brad. Foolishness Luke Weretiger: The last form to fight Anastasia. It's a slower but Stronger Werewolf a Shin devil trigger if you may, First ADD A NEW TRANSFORMATION CUTSCENE FOR LUKE! Second, this form is Werewolf but has a ranged attack with those deadly Claws. Won't last long for it will start to drain your Health if in it too long, This form NEEDS Death to stay useable, killing will prevent your health from Draining. But be warn it is also on a timer and it goes FASTER! although very rare. Be prepared for the Werebears there: This is your fuck around form, it breathes stone breath to freeze enemies in stone, is fast, and just a Joke form, but if done correctly can be used to combo with your forms. BUT beware this form ISN'T overpowered, sadly the bear must be nerfed...Sorry dad U.W.H: This guy is the nightmare protype gun from DMC 1. Trading Dragon's Devil meter for Jack of all trades bullet types, this area 51 escapee can fill the sky with purple raining bullets, Scatter Shots and Gravity clearing damages, One shots grunts, does Half damage to main targets and Less damage to bosses. Perfect for targeting that One main baddie or that FUCKER OFF SCREEN TAKING POTSHOTS AT YOU! Combining this form with the others will assure victory. Just don't get cocky SACRIFICES: dammit Get rid of the form Music, Mereman's theme is STUCK IN MY BRAIN! Just feels wrong for Luke to walk off, hear the level's music then BOOM WEREWOLF THEME and again THE MEREMAN THEME IS ANNOYING! It just loops and loops and loops! Make the music play normal Music or have ONE battle theme. can you imagine how annoying it would be that anytime Dante pulls out a weapon, the music restarts and changes? Sad one, The transformations scenes either gets a turn off Options OR! the first time Luke gets the chip, like Dante we get the transformation cutscene then the new form shows off the moves like Dante playing with a new weapon. THATS IT. If we want this form changing fast pace combo game play, Imagine how annoying it would be that anytime you doge. Mereman's transformation plays, Anytime you want to get close with Werewolf. Werewolf's transformation cutscene plays. ect ect ect. it goes from AW YEAH THIS IS COOL! To... Dodge it! Oh look Mereman's transformation. OKAY DODGED IT! END IT WITH A STING TACKLE Oh Werewolf is transforming. Now a Yeti slam! Transformation. Gurudas range! Oh Transformation. Yeah NOPE. I love the transformations but MAN would that ruin it STORY: Darn it the story sucks! Ana did all this because the Scientist wasn't paying attention to her? You guys know this guy wants to maybe rip Luke open to find out WHY he can shape shift into so many animals. So this Whole time Ana was a Yandare who wanted Senpai to notice her? NOPE New story, Ana unleashes the Mist to create a animal empire were people like her, Luke, and Brad rule over. Yes another strong evolution plot like I dunno, NAME ONE, Heres a name DEAD ISLAND 2 FUCK YOU DEEP SLIVER! That was for my twitter account you BITCH. But this one makes since cause I dunno THEIR ANIMALS! So first Brad gets behind this but then starts to see from Luke's eyes that Ana has lost her mind thus making them team up. Brad doesn't die at the end BUT Ana does. but before she did, she sends Project Altered beast to EVERY nation on earth so everyone can make their own Genome Cybrog. Thus creating a super human animal War. This would allow a Sequel called PROJECT ALTERED BEAST ANIMAL KINGDOM Which leads me to this, the bosses we are fighting are forced Genome Cybrogs that Ana sent after us, after a god of war like finisher killing the bosses, they turn back to a human. say some things, be sad, assholes or something else, they die letting you get the chip, This makes the bosses actually matter then just OH IT'S a big animal, Kill it so we can pass. Why is Ana sending these forced humans to attack you? So you can prove you're the Alpha, these things aren't monsters they are still animals and animals listen to the Strong, you doing this proves you are the Strongest which is what Ana wants. but we kill her. NEW ADDITIONS: Fast form changing combat akin to DMC. A ranking Combo system with every letter ranking making a animal sound. D could be like Dependent making a Dog bark C is like Carnivore making a Wolf howl B is Beastly (or something better that doesn't sound like the act of a human and animal ahem doing it) making a lion roar A is Animalistic making a Humaniod animal roar And the S's are something else I can't be bothered to come up with their names (Some ideas I came up with is Snarling, which makes a Bear Roar Snarling Savage, Which has a Ape roar to give off a smarter animal is making the roar and last is Snarling Savage Superior. Which has Dragon's roar to converge Dragon is the strongest form since it's the Devil trigger form) Altered Story, a story that fits and hints a Sequel and doesn't have the cast want the Scientist attention, Seriously guys, he might want to tear you apart A new form of leveling up. Like DMC you get points for killing ALL enemies, the plot is that someone is watching you and wants to see you preform, in exchange they give you upgrades, Turns out it's Ana's flash clone that spreads Project Altered beast to the world before dying. before that, she's your shop And I think all of that would make the game SO MUCH BETTER Extra: I think it would be cool to find posters that reference the Ending to the Arcade, like you find a movie poster of the Arcade game with fake actor names, and Luke makes a joke about it. Like he could say how the Actor is literally just wearing a wolf head while Luke has his whole body be torn just to turn wolf Last would be a File about how Project Altered Beast came to be. Something about a hero being revived by Zeus, How that hero’s body was found and their D.N.A was used to make genome Chips. And thats why the enemies look like Greek monsters made with experiments
The lesson to take from this video: Make the weakest part of your character stronger, rather than already strong parts of your character borderline broken. You will make your gameplay much more balanced and will probably have much better time overall. This game was exceptionally good example of it in action, but it is by no means only game where this lesson applies.
Thank you for doing this series. I series look forward to new episodes so anxiously. I have already learned about so many cool games I’d never heard of from tou
IIRC the upgrade system in this is somewhat similar to that correct? once i saw the branching button presses that click a familiarity shot through my mind but i couldnt 100% put my finger on it
@SHADOMEGA7569 Branching button presses are kind of a thing in all these action games. The big feature for side tracked is that the combi paths that were available were swappable on the fly. So if you're in combat and the current combos you have set up weren't working, you had a backup set of moves that you could switch to whenever. It really for the concept and style of the show.
@@computaterjones It's always interesting to see the different ways different action games try to make their combat system. Stuff like their own takes on combo routes, specific moves, environmental or enemy usage, different stances and/or weapons etc. That's why i appreciate people taking in-depth looks at older games like this. To showcase what works, doesn't work, and what is interesting.
So this game was an ambitious attempt at creating an action game with multiple forms, but it failed to create some satisfying bosses and lacked the necessary depth in some of them. I wish it was better. It looks like it tried to diversify playstyles with the forms, but failed to take into account game balance.
For armored core if you’re wanting to do a retrospective on the whole series you could probably instead do each game/generation of games (like 1 to Masters of the arena, 2 to another age, etc). So that way while doing roughly the same amount of content into smaller more digestible projects
If it's any consolation, Mr. Cvit, I very much enjoy your many videos about conceptually interesting brawlers and where their strengths and weaknesses lie in game design.
this reminded me of something i wanted to forget about old games where they were many cases like when you see a great little game with a great little premise but the devs try to forcefully make it longer than it should be by adding artificial content like reusing the same enemies over and over and having pure statistical upgrades that dont add anything mechanically .in this game the mechanical side of combat is not complex nor is it corelated well enough with the setpieces presented like in devil may cry for example where you have to smartly use the tools given to you like jumping or ground combos or guns or different unlockable precisely enough to beat the level or room.. so the lack of enemy variety doesnt hinder the game or make it repetitive because the room layot and enemy spawns have different compositions and all combos and tools you have match all together to create a unique action puzzle or dance in that spicific room .. but in this game and many other like it its the opposite. a simple concept that ends up overstaying its welcome by the end but still endearing for that era
I get the video title and intro is meant to be a joke but the game is actually pretty accurate to the Animorphs books if they decided to make it uncensored in terms of the gore. The books are literally a war drama.
Had to pause the video about a minute in to say fuck the people bitching about the lack of EWW YGO series; I love your insight on these PS2 era jank action games. That's what I'm here for.
Heavily seconded. Never watched the Yu-Gi-Oh series, but i'm most appreciative of people willing to give these older games the time of day in a pretty in-depth way. There may be a lot of interesting and entertaining stuff among it all. I'm hoping that stuff like Kya: Dark Lineage, Oni, the Zeno Clash series, Soulstice, and perhaps even the Darksiders series may appear in these videos as well. Hopefully all (mainly) positively, while still higlighting all the ups, downs, and simply interesting things.
NGL i do want to see more EWW yugioh but i understand your shift and honestly you put out good reviews. the amount of detail you give in them and mainly your yakuza retrospective videos gives me a new joy to your channel. you do you Cvit, stay awesome!
High school guidance counselors are the worst. I remember being told by mine at the end of the year that she couldn't help me with college stuff because she was still trying to catch up on stuff from the beginning of the school year.
Nice video! I bought this game back in 2006 or 2007, don't remember exactly the year. I played through the game, and I quite liked it. But thanks to a combination of my noobness and to the fact that I didn't find any guide to defeat the last form of the last boss, I gave it up and I sold it. You really gave me a flashback there when you mentioned that, in the end, it was more practical to use the jump attack of the wolf to defeat aereal bosses.
Game really could have used either making the upgrade dna things farmable or letting you respec. You'd just see vague if not copy pasted descriptions on what your new moves even do, then if you didn't reload after buying them, you'd be stuck with them forever even if they suck, while the game has less finite resources to get new ones. Some of them were really powerful, some were really bad. No way to know. Entirely possible you'll never see the 'really powerful' or fun ones because you spent too much on the rest. Like Werewolf's final charge is a nuclear claw slice that just 1 shots almost all enemies and hits the entire visible screen. Most people probably never saw that.
Every time i hear that intro i just picture Ax angrily standing to Jake, glaring at him with all four eyes, daring him to forget his presence and importance to plot stuff that the show never got to but the books did
I'm in the minority of people and absolutely loved this game as a kid, it's one of the few games in my life I ever felt driven to 100% The art direction and atmosphere were fucking stellar as far as a spin on Altered Beast goes. It has that Resident Evil sickly mutation vibe to it. There is absolutely rough elements to control and gameplay though and it's a damn shame we didn't get a sequel or something else basically doing this but better. Because if made today you could see it being made incredibly well and potentially being quite popular with people. The soundtrack was also very underrated.
No way, I used to play the hell out of the 1988 Altered Beast as a kid and for decades I've been trying to remember its name, thank you for helping me find it again.
This was one of those games where as a child, I was SO excited for but bummed out we never got this. Seeing this game these days though... Its no surprised it wasn't released in the US xD
Dude I loved this game as a child! Never managed to get the Weretiger form tho. Might try again now in a completely legal way and not emulating it on my phone
Ive always wanted to play this game, i appreciate it from a visual stand point tho, love the story someone once said this game could have been segas resident evil o what could have been
The Altered Beast remake is legit one of the PS2's underrated gems; as someone who dig action games, I never knew how Altered Beast 2005 could be that cool and amazing of a remade game of the Genesis console bundle later replaced by Sonic The Hedgehog(they have different moods and the decision was more geared towards kids which is just alright tbh). Gone was the Lycaon inspiration for the protagonist but the rejected Vergil, Wesker, or Krauser concept art, but a great reboot like this never deserved to fail financially; did I mention that Sega likely reused the traits to Altered Beast 2005 in Sonic Unleashed, or maybe I'm wrong? I do agree that entertainment should get better cryptid based media(as mentioned in the opening), y'all.
@Cvit Your videos are terrib..... ly entertaining. You are the cornstarch of chinese cooking. The oven of store bought cookies. The flour of the Popeye's chicken restaurant. The world is your burrito; order guacamole.
If you like werewolves might I recommend Werewolf the Apocalypse. The name is extended media of the Table top game WOD (World of Darkness). WOD also has other extended media video games like Vampire the Masquerade. However Werewolf the Apocalypse is definitely dated for a PS4 game that looks and feels like a PS3 game.
I really like this new Project Altered Beast direction I really hope Sega give it another go for this franchise. but they barely make any game other than Sonic and Yakuza anymore.
As someone who was there for a couple streams of this game I can definitely say the game has some neat things but I also heard Cvit get very annoyed at the bosses, best one had to be the Jaguar fight before you become the dragon.
Remember seeing this game for the first time, did know anything about this remake, I just saw altered beast checked the back and said I'm buying it. Started playing started slow but when I transformed hype AF!, it was the only Ps2 game I remember unlocking everything without a guide.
I hoping we get a remake/sequel at some point. Yes, it is not popular nor very profitable but we all know that bringing back old properties is the name of the game right now for movies and games
This game has the distinction for being the only game I had as a kid other than Doom 3 that I just couldn't get more than an hour into because it freaked me out too much And no I should not have been playing this OR Doom 3 and yes I do wonder if the absolutely brutal transformation scenes messed me up a little For years I've been saying I really need to beat this game just to put it to rest because it just does not get out of my head, I'm sure I had nightmares based purely on the transformation scenes
The funniest part, this game actually has a significantly smaller body count then the Animorph books, even if you're just going the number of people killed by the main characters.
Dang shame Sega let's all these franchises they own rot while they continue to pump out Sonic and Yakuza games. I'd like to see a new Altered Beat, Shinobi, or Golden Axe. Do they own Dynamite Cop? Wish that got rereleased.

Werewolf: is your Rebellion, the good old return to when threaten form, the claw swipes are faster, the charge tackle is your stinger letting you push enemies out of the way to get close and personal, and the swipes up keep the pain going, Switch to Luke to fire off Shots to keep the bar still, Ground enemies can be eaten to recover health, But be warned it's risky, and getting Hit could allow your meal to get back up, turning the hunter into the prey
Mereman: is your trapper Speed form, In water it's like Zora link, on land it's used to dodge faster and land seeking water shots, a weaker rocket launcher. Think Trickster style. It can create Water Traps for the wolf to hop up and Air combo
Yeti: is your heavy, the hits are SLIGTLY faster cause they can clear a room, add grabs to keep a enemy cornered for the Wolf to lay the chip damage, Use Ice rocks to throw and creature Slower splash damage to freeze enemies and Icicle spears to Impale enemies, Thanks for the inspiration Kameo
Gurudas: is your stronger Range attacker, think the Shotgun for Dante but mixed with the legs of Balrog from DMC 5. This form can replace Luke's guns but are slightly slower then Luke's MP5, BUT pack a punch. Add fast kicks from those Talons to stun enemies for Yeti or Wolf to finish
Minitour: is Ifrit from DMC 1, Slow but when timed right can clean house and lay TONS of damage! Yes Phil that is alot of Damage. Add the ability to turn into a metal Statute like Tanooki Mario to block unlockable attacks and you can Counter with a strong charged Headbutt! So pretty much Ifrit and Royal Guard
Dragon: Dragon is your devil trigger but acts like Nevan and Alastor, The Dragons tail acting as a whip like Electric Sword for crowd control as it's Breath and hands when Charged like Nevan, is used to send bolts of electric energy. You'll feel like Palatine when this Dragon is on the field, but be warn, the power isn't Unlimited, you have a time limit. Ironic that you get this form after Fighting Brad. Foolishness Luke
Weretiger: The last form to fight Anastasia.
BUT beware this form ISN'T overpowered, sadly the bear must be nerfed...Sorry dad
U.W.H: This guy is the nightmare protype gun from DMC 1. Just don't get cocky
SACRIFICES: dammit Get rid of the form Music, Mereman's theme is STUCK IN MY BRAIN!
Yeah NOPE. I love the transformations but MAN would that ruin it
STORY: Darn it the story sucks! Ana did all this because the Scientist wasn't paying attention to her? You guys know this guy wants to maybe rip Luke open to find out WHY he can shape shift into so many animals. So this Whole time Ana was a Yandare who wanted Senpai to notice her?
NOPE
New story, Ana unleashes the Mist to create a animal empire were people like her, Luke, and Brad rule over. This would allow a Sequel called PROJECT ALTERED BEAST ANIMAL KINGDOM
Which leads me to this, the bosses we are fighting are forced Genome Cybrogs that Ana sent after us, after a god of war like finisher killing the bosses, they turn back to a human. say some things, be sad, assholes or something else, they die letting you get the chip, This makes the bosses actually matter then just OH IT'S a big animal, Kill it so we can pass.
D could be like Dependent making a Dog bark
C is like Carnivore making a Wolf howl
B is Beastly (or something better that doesn't sound like the act of a human and animal ahem doing it) making a lion roar
A is Animalistic making a Humaniod animal roar
And the S's are something else I can't be bothered to come up with their names
(Some ideas I came up with is Snarling, which makes a Bear Roar
Snarling Savage, Which has a Ape roar to give off a smarter animal is making the roar
and last is Snarling Savage Superior. Which has Dragon's roar to converge Dragon is the strongest form since it's the Devil trigger form)
Altered Story, a story that fits and hints a Sequel and doesn't have the cast want the Scientist attention, Seriously guys, he might want to tear you apart
A new form of leveling up. Like DMC you get points for killing ALL enemies, the plot is that someone is watching you and wants to see you preform, in exchange they give you upgrades, Turns out it's Ana's flash clone that spreads Project Altered beast to the world before dying. before that, she's your shop
And I think all of that would make the game SO MUCH BETTER
Extra: I think it would be cool to find posters that reference the Ending to the Arcade, like you find a movie poster of the Arcade game with fake actor names, and Luke makes a joke about it. Like he could say how the Actor is literally just wearing a wolf head while Luke has his whole body be torn just to turn wolf
Last would be a File about how Project Altered Beast came to be. Something about a hero being revived by Zeus, How that hero’s body was found and their D.N.A was used to make genome Chips. And thats why the enemies look like Greek monsters made with experiments
The lesson to take from this video:
Make the weakest part of your character stronger, rather than already strong parts of your character borderline broken.
Brad also looks like some sort of Bryan Fury adjacent.
Bryan before turning to Cyborg lol.
I'm a simple man, I see Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked I hit like. Hope that means we might get a vid on it in the future.
0:51 damn man you didn’t have to roast me that hard😂
I think I see
An altered beast
By the tree
Take a peek
If you would dare
Half made of man
Half of bear
He came from underneath
I met an altered beast
I get the video title and intro is meant to be a joke but the game is actually pretty accurate to the Animorphs books if they decided to make it uncensored in terms of the gore. The books are literally a war drama.
*Amazing how recently several guys out there took this game out of absolute void to drown it in criticism*
Perfect timing! I’ve been on a Cvit kick this week!
Damn i thought this was gonna be a killer instinct video 😢
Every time i hear that intro i just picture Ax angrily standing to Jake, glaring at him with all four eyes, daring him to forget his presence and importance to plot stuff that the show never got to but the books did
Ive played this game so many times
So I would love to share the tricks and tips that ive learned from replaying this game an unhealty amount of times
I had this game confused with the Golden Axe Reboot on the 7th gen for some reason
hell yeah you chose the meme thumbnail
Awesome video dude and I love that you chose Illa J- R u listenin as background music in the first bit
Good game, love altered beasts the transformations were sick
Not gonna lie the most surprising thing in this video is the animorphs reference
I'm in the minority of people and absolutely loved this game as a kid, it's one of the few games in my life I ever felt driven to 100%
The art direction and atmosphere were fucking stellar as far as a spin on Altered Beast goes.
Man, if this is altered beast, now I gotta look at rygar's remake.
You mean comparing both the Wii and PS2 version of The Legendary Adventure? Would be interesting!
09:18 ok that clip where you are surrounded by massive fishes gives me a quick anxiety
Bryan, Krauser, Virgil Fusion was really fitting.
Final form at the end of the game should have been an alien lol to mess with people.
May the algorithm be merciful upon this video. This game is so cool conceptually, shame it never got a sequel or remake to iron out the weak aspects.
Thank you for great video, looking forward to your next one
I actually played this game as a kid but the only thing I can really remember are the transformation sequences, which are some rad shit
This is a game i wouldve absolutely LOVED as a kid. I was just 9 when it came out and wouldnt have anything this violent for another year at least
No way, I used to play the hell out of the 1988 Altered Beast as a kid and for decades I've been trying to remember its name, thank you for helping me find it again.
This was one of those games where as a child, I was SO excited for but bummed out we never got this. Seeing this game these days though... Its no surprised it wasn't released in the US xD
if you click the analogue you can swap between alastor and ifrit in dmc
It’s as close as we’ll get to an animorphs game being accurate to the books. Lmao
When's "Everything Right With: Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist of the Roses"
Hands down my favourite game of all time. I can only pray for a port of this for PC in my lifetime.
I know i a lot of f*cking obscure games but you always hit me up with more of that good sh*t
Dude I loved this game as a child! Never managed to get the Weretiger form tho. Might try again now in a completely legal way and not emulating it on my phone
Yakuza 3 when Civt
A...genome cyborg???
Hehehehehehehee...Brad😁 It reminds me of that one scene from hoodwinked "Oh no, watch out for KEITH"
I understood that reference.
This game isnt nearly violent or depressing enough to be animorphs
Shits just R rated Ben 10
Ive always wanted to play this game, i appreciate it from a visual stand point tho, love the story someone once said this game could have been segas resident evil o what could have been
I thought House of the Dead was their Resident Evil.
@@SirBlackReedstrue lol forgot about that one😅
@Cvit Your videos are terrib.....
ly entertaining.
I half expected to hear Super Books to start playing.
I really like this new Project Altered Beast direction I really hope Sega give it another go for this franchise.
but they barely make any game other than Sonic and Yakuza anymore.
Let's goo another cvit banger
You could say that, under a specific light, the new Final Fantasy game is an animorph game
you speak of the 05 version I think of the 80s version.
You love/hate to seee games like this, who were close to something good, but didn't realized it's full potential.
This game has the distinction for being the only game I had as a kid other than Doom 3 that I just couldn't get more than an hour into because it freaked me out too much
And no I should not have been playing this OR Doom 3 and yes I do wonder if the absolutely brutal transformation scenes messed me up a little
For years I've been saying I really need to beat this game just to put it to rest because it just does not get out of my head, I'm sure I had nightmares based purely on the transformation scenes
Jay Dee songs on the background 👌🏽
i would have played this it seems like it would have been a cool arcade game at a movie theater
I played this game when I was wee and part of me began to think it was a bizarre fever dream that never really existed until I saw this video.
The funniest part, this game actually has a significantly smaller body count then the Animorph books, even if you're just going the number of people killed by the main characters.
VERGIL!!!
Man I want a good old fashioned hack and slash monster game
wendigo grab locking must feel like fighting king in tekken
It will be awesome to see a 10,000 Bullets retrospect.
Dang shame Sega let's all these franchises they own rot while they continue to pump out Sonic and Yakuza games. I'd like to see a new Altered Beat, Shinobi, or Golden Axe.
Do they own Dynamite Cop? Wish that got rereleased.
Streets of rage counts?
The self roasts in this are amazing
Fuck... and i thought i was the only one stucked in the Final Boss flying form as a kid
i really love this game's soundtrack, atmosphere, corny characters and story but i really really cannot get over how frustrating it is to play
Damn, me and my dad loved playing this game
Wait, they made an action game based on Samurai Champloo? Awesome! 😂
glad you atleast had fun with it unlike bumble mcfumbles
