- When Hideo Kojima releases a new game for one of his upcoming games, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be in for something of a rollercoaster, something that was proven yet again with the enormous trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as part of Sony’s recent State of Play presentation.
From how the upcoming sequel’s setting is building on the events of the first game to the characters that will populate that setting to what we can expect in terms of gameplay shake-ups and improvements, after the recent trailer, we have no shortage of questions about Death Stranding 2, as well as observations from the trailer that reveal some intriguing details.
Here, we’re going to talk about all of that and more. - Ігри
God knows? I still havent figure out whats going on in death stranding 1 yet. 😅
I remember the first one actually making sense by the time the game was over 😅 I was shocked
Lol don't know if you played it or not but it's actually straight forward for the most part
Mate I love story’s in games but I only understand them as I’m playing. Death stranding tho it’s taken me a year to understand it 😂
Just answer who what when where and why. The why is the most complicated, but that's explained immediately when the President hangs up.
Lady of Lore has a three part series that came out about a month ago that explained the game exceptionally well, imo.
It is hard to tell if Kojima is a genius or an absolute lunatic.
Both. Mad genius is a thing
@@OversoulGaming fair point.
Definitely a bit of both 😅👌🏽 lol But it don't scare me! No matter what I know I'll be getting a totally unique, polished, and intriguing game, that's 100% worth my money. That's rare in games these days. I say bring on the weirdness & beauty. I'm ready! 2025 can't get here fast enough tbh. What a banger year it's gonna be!
@@KabbalahSherry very true. I still have not played the first one yet.
Why is that a thing, lunatic? Theres way more nonsense in horror games and people doesnt take that as lunatic crap. People don't call Hidetaka Miyazaki crazy because of what he created in Soulsborne (for some reason), which on many levels is much more precedent-setting in craziness than what Kojima does imo
Man if those Natural Disasters are real time and random... GOTY
Agree, It would be so fun and a pain in the @$$ at the same time 😂
The great thing about Death Stranding was almost all the weird things in the story element are releated to the gameplay mechanic
7:33, These bot’s being taken over like this can also suggest the Lou has taken an immaterial form that allows her interface with anything connected to the chyral network, which she could be using in this scene to possess these bots to rescue her adoptive father.
2:17, The idea that beings from the other side or malevolent psychics like Higgs could “hack” this system, including every piece of equipment Sam and other porters use, because it uses elements from the other side, is likely the narrative reason for the question of whether or not “we” should have connected, while Sam’s personal doubts can involve allowing himself to love and trust others opening himself up to being abandoned or betrayed, as Lou is ostensibly dead and Fragile is hinted to be reluctantly manipulating Sam for an unknown purpose.
For the meta-textual reason behind the tagline and theme of the plot, similar to Sam, opening up to others also means having to leave oneself vulnerable and having to be able to accept that vulnerability. Sam’s already made peace with the fact that the universe is on borrowed time because he has these people in his life that showed him how fulfilling it was to care about something more than comfort or survival, but there’s still the possibility that these people could leave him, be taken from him or worse, manipulate and betray him like Bridget and Amelie did.
Notice how Higgs is now in Amelie’s body?! What’s that about
Kojima-san, is that you?
@@uzik00sh65 is he though?
The first trailer showed Sam as an old man when Lou was killed , now after Lou is dead Sam is young again. This game is so wild and I loved the first story and the game was brilliant masterpiece I’ve never experienced anything like it.
P.s lou is dead and Sam is carrying loud BT ghost and he was the one who also possessed the cyborg cyborg who attacked Higgs. If you notice the BT sensor on the cyborgs face was going off indicating a BT was near by.
Also we know that the tar somehow connects both realms together to the beach and I’m thinking the reason Sam and fragile where black and white was when the ship was under the tar they are kind of between both worlds and that’s why they are that color. I’ve never seen so much put into a trailer that’s so well hidden.
Inversion. On the beach timefall makes you younger. Perhaps.
05:02 Not exactly. Fragile gave Higgs two choices: suicide or be stranded on the beach. You hear a gunshot, but see no body. So it's not conclusive.
07:06 A weaponized guitar has been a thing for a long time. The traitor Noise marines from Warhammer 40k use a similar weapon. In animé it's normal for a human (child) to pilot a mech. An entity like BB taking control of a robot is in the same ballpark.
Fragile says to Sam she couldn't shoot him and left him stranded on the beach with the gun.
The lines pointing in the letters of the name (game title) "Death Stranding" in DS1 were falling downwards, while in DS2 they come from above, so it gives the impression of controlling a puppet. Throughout the trailer there is this reference to characters and enemies "hanging" in the sky, implying that someone is controlling them.
There are insane references to Egyptian mythology. The main one is the sarcophagus that they open at the beginning of the trailer, which is possibly 100% Lou. On different occasions they represented Gods who would help the dead on their journey to the other world.
I noticed Higgs had lines in his cape during a scene or two that made him look like how we would depict some Egyptian gods.
What I love about Hideo Kojima is that he's unapologetically a madman, and the results of that madness are pure concentrated lunacy.
And they are the coolest things in the world.
5:05 Higgs did not conclusively die in DS fragile said she couldn’t pull the trigger on Higgs
I LOVE playing death stranding 1 still. Counting the seconds until DS2 comes out
Man... I don't even care what's going on! 😅
Bring on the weirdness & beauty. I'm ready!
bring on the deliveries lol i need more grinding
Higgs didn't "very conclusively die" in DS. Fragile tells us she didn't kill him. She gave him the choice of dying or being stuck on the beach forever. Now how he escaped the beach, that's anyone's guess but it doesn't seem hard, people do it all the time so I dunno why Higgs would have been stuck there forever.
Edit: as for the action, Norman himself said the first game was very tame, while this new title "has a lot more violence".
Higgs wasn't dead. Remember, Kojima has the habit of telling what happen in the story through the conversation of characters WITHOUT showing what was said to have happened on the screen. Higgs' so called death at Fragile's hands for example, is one of the moments where it wasn't shown on screen. It seems he is avoiding to make the same mistake he made with killing Liquid Snake.
The game's name is "DS2 On the Beach", and Amelie repeated that multiple times in DS1's first few hours to Sam that she is waiting for him on the beach. It seems they are likely shifting the focus to the beach, or at least to what is (or the main characters who are) on the beach. phenomenon are undesirable.
I am feeling a strong vibe of multi player elements when the ship was introduced with rooms for other crew members, but don't ask me how it works, ask Kojima.
This trailer made me start the first game, I had no idea it was this weird. And I still don't understand anything about whats happening.
If you care enough lady of lore has a really good 3 part series explaining the game from start to finish while presenting it in a way it makes sense
@@johnd6006 thanks, I'm still playing it, I might check that out when I'm done, I don't want any spoilers. It is very interesting so far though.
@@trankia1224 yeah definitely wait till you finish the game
Did anyone notice that when Higgs is carrying the BB Pod all of a sudden it disappears from his hands and the Giant Metal Samurai appears killing the android robots?😮 where the BB pod go when Higgs was carrying it? Is that BB pod Sam is carrying a weapon? Higgs was even surprised and says “WTF” because he was no longer holding the BB Pod. 🤔
The BB was controlling the robots cos you can hear baby giggling when the robot was fighting Higgs
@@saidbtk the BB might just be a spirit BT not an actually physical BB
It was cut, you can tell. So something happens in between that and I believe Higgs just said WTF? Because of the sudden sound he heard and the baby laughs from BB
So something probably big happens in the scene we don’t see here where Higgs had BB and then a cut happened and then we see the samurai
Honestly, I want more to do with the ways that sam can interact with the chiral. Like being able to call down or dispell chiral rain to change the eb and flow of encounters, or new phenomenon that we didn't see in the first game.
I’m fascinated and slightly confused with the game.
Higgs looks like a fusion of Amelie and Himself. Also, I'm guessing they worship her.
The captain is George Miller. Elle is also on the operating table. Hiiggs is not wearing Joker make up, but Brandon Lee's The Crow make up, so the guitar is part of the homage....
Higgs is cosplaying as Amelie... the extinction entity which he worships. But yeah from a meta level it's a nod the The Crow
All I know is it's given me questions and I'm pissed I have to wait till 2025 to have them answer. DS1 is one of my favourite games of all time and honestly I have a feeling this will be a new favourite
I think it might have a Tonetta 777 mission. Maybe finding his special ingredient for his cooking show
this was one hell of an epic trailer, u can tell kojima, as he said, wants to make movies. Very attractive 1st trailer
can we talk about "Higgs's" swager! Dude give me Gary Oldman vibes
It's totally bonkers and I love it.
DS2 is a world tour arc. ;).
I thought Fanning's character could either be Lou or Amelie reborn.
Léa Seydoux is just next-level beautiful, even as cgi lol.
Why you think that robot killed all the other robots before it fought with Higgs. Maybe they were undercover bb robots there to help sam out or maybe fragile had something to do with that.
Guy fighting with electric guitar, its devil may cry did 2005 with dante and his playable guitar weapon called nevan
The Action Director of DS2 is Yuji Shimomura and he did the action cinematics of Devil May Cry 3, 4 and 5 along with a few other games I can’t remember off top so it makes sense
there still one thing i don´t get! Why is Fragiles skin not aged?
True
I still havent played death stranding- but man does this universe fascinate me
B-Roll of mentions and references would have helped...
No offense ok if you remember DS1 correctly…
If Elle is Lou, the time between DS1 and DS2 might not be as long as we think it is - remember that The Beach is removed from time, so we might be 😊observing her body having aged on The Beach, now sent back to our world.
The BB Pod lighting up might be Lou’s soul stuck in it / communicating with Sam via the pod, BB’s soul being on The Beach.
Second, Higgs didn’t die and was not killed. He was just stuck. Indefinitely.
Also, the coffin that - maybe - Elle’s character is excavated from may be a device that allows people to be extracted from The Beach remotely, maybe also how Higgs was able to come back through the beach (like we see him emerge from).
My theory is BB’s soul is on The Beach and her body is in our world and she may be able to control those Body Bag Mechs.
5:00 He did not die, Fragile gave him a choice of dying or staying stranded on the beach, he chose the beach.
It looks great but the guitar "weapon" is pushing towards the stupid side of things. It reminds me of the scene from the Crow with Fun Boy. (Plus I'm wondering if his makeup was "artistically licensed" used for Higg's vesrion.)
The real question we need answered is why isn't Fragile pruny anymore?
I want to play these but can’t bring myself to carry boxes in a video game. Too much like being at my actual job 😐
It’s actually fun. There’s a lot of obnoxious shit with deliveries but there’s battles and a lot of sneaking/stealth
I’d love to go back to America and see it extremely developed with lighting fast travel between knots
The Alan Wake Puppet drom the minute 0:39, detracts from the game's appeal with its unsettling design. It falls short of replicating the Mimir head feature from God of War and negatively impacts the gaming experience. Its removal from the final product is recommended for a more enjoyable experience.
Didn’t Lou have a Willy when he pissed on deadman’s face that’s how I remember it
It’s going to be one hell of a sequel regardless for fans ❤ I think the black tar person is mama or bb grown u, we also defo see Sam with his son as a baby, as he has a pic with his family in the first game.additionally we don’t know why but Sam does say to Amelia in the original game where is you cupid? So that explains why she didn’t have it l. Can’t wait for this game honestly
The captain is George Miller director of mad max
I finished the first one. Didn't have a clue what was going on either. Looking forward to the second one to
It's really not that complicated, what didn't you understand ?
@@blacksand. To be honest it was quite a while ago. And I cant really remember any of it. Other than I finished it and enjoyed it unexpectedly
It really wasn't that hard. Everything was explained... and i mean EVERYTHING
@@hotcoldman77 was it. Mustn't of paid enough attention
Or it could be that whole fight scene looks a lot like aht you'd see in a Japanese anime show or Manga novel and he's just using that type of visual style because he enjoys Animes and Manga stories.
I really hope it is a baby in samurai power armor
the 1st part was so weird that I DID NOT END IT:::lolsame here i fear
I'm just excited to deliver more cargo, honestly.
Kojima needs to make the PT game and release it as a new IP.
Higgs looks a lot like that dude matt mercer
Everyone should know by now, WTF! is Hideo's middle name.
This guy is the Spielberg of gaming. 💯class
This is going to definitely top the first game I can fell it.
Is the women in tar Emillie from DS1 or Higgs + Emillie fused together? ?
Y'all never played the Metal Gear series? The weird stuff is just Hideo being Hideo.
This game looks even more intense than the last game
That trailer dropped my interest in the game
Higgs didn’t die in death stranding 1 he was left on the beach and should’ve been stuck there
2022 trailer for ds2 shows lous death, super sad scene😢
When working on the woman early in the trailer, Fragile gets squirted with some tar and takes her glove off. Note that her left hand is young and smooth. Remember that in DS1 Higgs made her run through the rain and it aged her skin badly. In fact they purposely show how her left hand several times in cut scenes. I wonder if there is a counter to the aging process that has been discovered.
How many playable characters
😂 I honestly think Kojima is jerking us around at this point, the trailer was even more insane than the first, it was hard to grasp what was going on the first game story wise, and it seems we’re getting even less of an explanation in part 2.
Cyberpunk 2 needs decima engine
I don't know why they bother putting another trailer out The game isn't coming out until late next year
I really hope this comes out in the beginning of 2025
uh higgs didnt die in DS1
a death that doesnt happen on screen is not a death.
More like the Crow wearing Higgs
that puppet is creepy af 😱
Kojima that’s what happened. I’m convince he sees into dimensions not known to us. His brain needs to be studied by scientists 😂
What's going on? Kojima. Kojima is going on.
People day Death Stranding 2 has better graphics than Hellblade 2. I have to agree and DS2 is open world.
Yes, because the two aren’t completely different types of games 🤦♂️
@@yogisie only thing different is the development budget. Hellblade 2, 20 Million Vs Death Stranding 2, 100+ Million
The girl in the pod and Elle are same person. Blonde hair dyed by the tar
That puppet copies slappy from Goosebumps
Its kojima.. We lucky we have him.. Wtf is going on is the main statement
I had less chaotic fever dreams
too much oddities all togheter, over a certain limit they break immersion and credibility of the game world
WHAT THE HELL: THE GAME
Bro wtf is going on in MGS?
Ive play ds 1 twice thru AND watched a hour and forty-five min youtube video on the ds story and stiil dont understand whats going on lmfao
hmm... I want to play this on PC, I don't want to buy this game twice again.
Remembering the 1st trailer, I think we're gonna have time travel and parallel universes happening in DS2
Bro u fragile tells that they are empty rooms so there might be a chance of getting other people in it
Kojima thats what.
The game could have a time skip in the middle and of the game
Being weird just for the sake of being weird.
Clearly the writer never played the first gamw
Bro, the writer is Kojima, literally says it at the start of the first game.
He’s the writer and director for the second game too.
No matter how crazy the trailers are, the first game was pretty boring. Too early to judge the 2nd.
Typical of kojima's weird games
I don't understand the appeal of this game, but hey, not everything is for me. Have fun.
I play games to relax/escape, so am always looking for slower stuff. This and BG3 were great for that. That's the appeal for me at least.
@@dctrbrass I really prefer chill games over super fast action games too, however there's a difference between chill and boring. But dude, you have no need to justify yourself to me.

Higgs did not die in DS1.
Idk why they're making a 2, the first would have/was an alright movie didn't enjoy game play so much i imagine they should forget the game and just make 2 a movie lol
The writing in the first one was pretty good, I understand the gameplay, it’s not for everyone
If it makes you happy, Hideo is working with A23 (the ones who made everything everywhere all at once) to make an adaptation of the game
Kojima desperately needs someone who can say "NO!" to his bad ideas.
As a game mechanics designer, Kojima is pretty good but as a writer and game narrative designer, he's totally overrated. Never have I been so grateful for ALT-F4 on the PC to quit the game when forced to sit through the most ponderous and dull end game sequence on the beach at the end. It was all exposition with no flair. He needs to hire more people for the writing team to keep him from coming up with nonsensical, poorly written dialogue and narrative.
MG4 was full of mechanics and guns but hardly anything to use them on in the game. The game was a short corridor followed by a long cutscene, repeat. MGV and Death Stranding had useless game mechanics. Nonsensical story with a long plot dumbes. Not a fun game loop. The theory is he had a co-writers in the first three Metal Gear games. And didn't have full creative control until 4
Who cares 1st one was junk
it really is, but the kojima liarboys will say that it's the best thing since grilled cheese.

To me, this is the worst case scenario.. a sequel to a game I have no interest in. Really wanted kojima to do a different proper thing.. and he desperately needs someone to put him on a leash.
Kojima is one of one who can demand a bag and and the freedom to do whatever he wants with it. Other devs should aspire to have the creative freedom and power.
Devs on a leash make Ubisoft like games, and SUICIDE Squad
Oh ffs "put him on a leash" 🙄 Says who?! YOU?!
The 1st game has sold almost as many copies as Elden Ring, and now even more people are checking it out, thanks to the latest trailer that he dropped for the sequel. YOU don't have to play these games if they don't interest you! But to act as if Kojima should only be creating what YOU would want to play, is crazy entitled.
Death Stranding is actually way more popular than ya'll complainers have ever given it credit for. I can't tell you how many comments I've seen from people who regretted not giving the game a chance when it 1st launched, because they had listened to the bandwagon of bitchers, moaners, and whiners, who were pissed off that you had to [checks notes] walk to locations sometimes, and explore the map.
Something you gotta do in literally EVERY open world game, mind you. 🤣💀 LMAO I mean, it even gives the players their 1st vehicle early on, in the damn tutorial phase... but STILL people called it a "walking simulator" and cried that it was too "cerebral" of an experience, with too much story, blah blah blah.
All ya'll have done is complain for 4 YEARS that he's making this weird shit... but so what?!
At the end of the day, anybody who plays it will be given a unique, polished, intriguing and FINISHED game, worth their time & money. Something a lot of AAA games haven't always bothered to do... and you know it.
JUST LET KOJIMA COOK. 🤷🏻♀️😌 lol
Afterall, there's plenty of other "restaurants" out there, if you're looking to eat something different. The rest of us are getting FULL though.
And that's truly all we could ask for.
I respect a director for sticking to his OWN VISION despite a majority of people, myself included, saying their art is trash than a director that caves into the criticism of his art and makes a more redundant and standard piece of work next time. People criticize Michael Bay for his films being trash, which they are, but at the end of the day, those are still HIS films made HIS way with HIS OWN vision and I respect that more than an Everyman director making a crowd-pleasing Superhero blockbuster
I applaud Hideo Kojima for sticking to his guns despite the criticism the first game got. We need MORE directors in both video games AND movies to be like this.
“Really wanted Kojima to do a different proper thing”
Why? Because this game isn’t up to YOUR generic standards it’s not “proper”? Give me a break
Didn't buy the first so won't even watch this video on number 2.
Yet you’re here
Why are you even here?
Kojima seems to be trying too hard to shock the players and he's getting worse at it, the guitar shooting is a complete failure
Failure how? People myself included think it looks cool. And I believe that's all it was meant to be.
@@benjamincurtis1412 I know it's all intentional, but don't you think that in a game that, judging by the first part, is supposed to be rather serious, showing some strange puppets and guitar shots just doesn't suit the atmosphere of the game. the first part was interesting, a lot of interesting mechanics, a breath of fresh air, but with the second one it seems to me that Kojima has probably gone a bit too far. This is my opinion and I'm sad about it because I think Kojima has a mega talent and is one of the best developers in the world. There's just too much of it here and it's unnecessary.
@@daniel-and1 The trailer is almost split in two... It has enough for the people who played DS1 and loved it. But there were thoes who played it and thought it needed more action. This is Kojima just showing that hws listened to them.
